Great place for burgers and other food fare. Dinner is also served here and always excellent. If you're in the area, make sure you stop in.

The Barrel House - Pulled pork nachos

Last year at Christmas time as family we ate here. It's expensive but the food is amazing…read more I had chicken fried steak with extra gravy. Oh my gosh I was so surprised, I have tasted a lot of different chicken fried steaks and Barrel House was over the top. Friendly waitstaff kept our drinks filled and checked on us. Loved their sweet tea! I was hoping to come back in 2025 but I landed in hospital and we were broke by the time I finally got out. Highly recommend The Barrel house!!

We (myself and 2 kids 6 & 8) came for dinner service on 11/22 at 6:15pm. We sat in the patio area, a nice venue with live music. We started off with chips and queso, and the some of the chips were stale and over seasoned and the queso was lukewarm at best. We ate 1/3 of it. We ordered our meals, both kids having the Mac and Cheese with Chicken tenders, and I ordered a ribeye medium rare, but before my server walked away, changed it to rare because I was fearful it would be overcooked. My steak came with a loaded baked potato (undercooked and pretty hard to eat) as well as a house salad that showed up when my steak arrived. I don't know about you, but I prefer not to eat my salad while my steak gets cold. It should have come prior to my entree. When my steak arrived, it was cooked med-medium well. I sent it back. While waiting for my 2nd steak to come out, my daughter complained that her Mac and Cheese was spicy. I tasted it and it was. It was on the kids menu, so that was confusing. The chicken tenders were so over cooked, my kids didn't even eat them. I didn't even mention it to our server at this point, because she was super sweet and accommodating, and I felt bad for her. We just wanted to pay the check and get the hell out of there. Our tab came to $83 dollars and I left her a $40 tip because I felt sorry that she had to defend such a total miss by the kitchen. Super disappointing experience. Do better, back of house. You owe it to the people that sign your paycheck and the front of house team that has to defend your food.

We also devoured the bread and dipping sides. For the main course we had the catch of the day and a ribeye. Both were excellent and cooked perfectly. The carrots and Aris puree (i.e. squash and potato, mashed potatoes) complimented the entrees well, but it was probably a little too much food. The staff were very helpful with menu options and suggestions. Ambiance was appropriate for a fine dining experience.

It's a nice location with onsite parking which is somewhat rare when you're downtown. I was warmly greeted and quickly taken to my table. It's a nice vibe, and I noticed large groups and various tables that were celebrating. They have a nice cocktail and wine menu, I found a few nice nonalcoholic drinks as well. I ordered sparkling water and a Venetian spritz. They brought over a palate cleanser. It was a warm beef broth, I wasn't a huge fan. But I think others might appreciate it more than I did. They brought over the bread service. Warm Focaccia and olive bread served with olive marmalade, sumac butter & olive oil. Next I moved on to the Beetroot. It's kinda of a beet stuffed with 5 cheeses, pistachio, hazelnut dukkah and a crème fraiche garnish. I've never had anything like it before. I enjoyed it. For the main course I ordered the dry aged ribeye with the Aris butter, the Moroccan Tiger Shrimp and the Aris purée. The steak was cooked perfectly, the shrimp were amazing and the purée was a good compliment to the meal. The sauce on the shrimp is perfection. I am not sure where the source those shrimp from but they were some of the best I have had in the states. I will come back to try more of the menu. This is one of those places that is great for celebrations. The staff is very attentive which made for a great experience.

We started with a 1/2 order of onion rings. Yes, my pic shows a 1/2 order! Totally crispy & delicious! I ordered the daily special (fried fish) & my husband had hamburger steak. The fish, hush puppies, & okra were perfectly fried. The Cole slaw was creamy & definitely homemade. My hubby loved his hamburger steak, gravy, & grilled veggies. Everything was cooked just right & tasted homemade. My lunch ended with a cupcake. Gotta love that! Lots of locals were eating lunch here. That's always a good sign. Super cute "farm" decor.

Sounds like small town Texas doesn't it? It's rare that I take the car club into an unexplored restaurant. But, there was confidence. Yelp profile? Not so much; but a recent feature on a Texas centric TV show called the Daytripper. Enough for me to take a chance on Jacoby's. Said family also has an east Austin eatery but I don't dine after five. High time I lead some cars out to Melvin, Texas. Left Bee Cave and took every curvy road I could because sports cars. Took longer to arrive than taking straight roads but we're now sitting down in the cafe. Uhhh, where are the steaks from your own private heard? Dinner menus delivered to the table. You can't stop staring at the desserts at the end of the bar. Onion rings were amazing. Don't think artful or presentation here folks; think squirt bottle of ranch. Still need more but saving for the main course. Steak was delivered and the GF cut off her personal hunk. First thoughts is to compare the dining adventure with Hilltop Cafe and Johnny Nicholas at Hilltop Cafe. If you build it they will come. I think the term "home made" is used WAY too much these days. Jacoby's nails this category. Simply prepared great steak, veggies, salad, and desserts. Staffers even protected the desserts with wrap in between servings. It was good to walk in and dine; locals dressed to a "T" because this is a special occasion restaurant for them. I bought a hat. First time in forever I'm wearing supporting carb. Great place!
