Small town charm, huge Texas welcome! We took a drive down to Menard from San Angelo to have lunch at the Silver Spur with friends from San Antonio! We were blown away by this awesome western saloon gem, from the moment we walked in we were treated like royalty thanks to Cierra! From the saddles hanging on the wall, to saloon doors in the bathroom, beautiful black-and-white photos of old Texas, the attention to detail is outstanding! It's worth the drive to Menard to hang out in this very special place, make sure you stop by and say hi to Cierra! She was the best part of our lunch- above and beyond service!

Really cute friendly restaurant. We stopped for lunch on the way back from Colorado. Definitely worth a stop if you are passing through. The sandwiches were very good. Our waitress was very friendly. The decor was really nice.

We went to Silverspur in Menard on a Saturday evening around 8 PM. Right when we arrived, the place felt a little chaotic--staff seemed overwhelmed, especially the host. While everyone was friendly, the overall customer service could definitely use some improvement, including our waitress. She was very nice and polite, but clearly overwhelmed. She didn't tell us about the crawfish boil special until the owner happened to come by and mentioned it. She also forgot to bring us refills for our teas unless we specifically asked. And when we did get refills, there was no ice. It felt like the team could benefit from more training to create a smoother experience. That said, the atmosphere was really nice. They have an outdoor patio with chairs where a live singer was performing. It was a great touch for the Memorial Day weekend! Now for the highlight: the food. I ordered the ribeye meal, which comes with two sides and a roll--all for just $39. It was an amazing deal. My ribeye was cooked perfectly to medium and was honestly one of the most delicious steaks I've ever had. I heard the owner runs a ranch, and you can really taste the quality of the meat. For my sides, I had the broccolini and truffle mac & cheese--both were flavorful and a perfect complement to the steak. Everyone at our table enjoyed their meals. One minor hiccup: we were charged for each tea refill, which was a surprise, but it was thankfully corrected at the end. All in all, Silverspur has fantastic food, a great outdoor vibe, and friendly staff. With a bit of polish on the service, it could easily become a go-to spot.

13 minutes ago New Hidden gem! If you're in the area, check it out! This is the nicest place in town! Excellent service, food, and decor. There is a large outdoor patio with tables and an additional seating area in front of an outdoor fireplace. They also have a few air bnb's on property, and a boutique! The savory bacon jam burger is excellent. The patty melt is served on perfectly seasoned Texas Toast. Generous portions. They also have sliced ribeye sandwich, chicken fried steak, filet, queso, quail, and more!

However, on this trip my companion was hungry and we stopped at Lazy Ladle for lunch. It appeared to be a locals favorite place and I could see why. The service was friendly, the food was prepared well and served promptly. The 1/2 sandwich (a BLT) and/or 1/2 salad or soup of the day was perfect. Not too much. The burger hot and juicy. Nothing fancy, just a small diner in town.

Definitely has the feel of the local favorites place to come for a good meal. We decided on the fried pickles because the reviews were pretty solid. Didn't let us down. Liked that they were the full length pickle spear. Good taste and liked their ranch. I picked the Black & Blue burger with chips. Presentation wise it looked really good. The chips were ok but slightly stale. The burger was good and impressed it had fresh lettuce and tomatoes. The patty was thick but defiantly not homemade and didn't have a lot of taste was very dense. Homemade patties are essential to a great burger. This was a nice place and good stop for some good diner food.

We started with a 1/2 order of onion rings. Yes, my pic shows a 1/2 order! Totally crispy & delicious! I ordered the daily special (fried fish) & my husband had hamburger steak. The fish, hush puppies, & okra were perfectly fried. The Cole slaw was creamy & definitely homemade. My hubby loved his hamburger steak, gravy, & grilled veggies. Everything was cooked just right & tasted homemade. My lunch ended with a cupcake. Gotta love that! Lots of locals were eating lunch here. That's always a good sign. Super cute "farm" decor.

Sounds like small town Texas doesn't it? It's rare that I take the car club into an unexplored restaurant. But, there was confidence. Yelp profile? Not so much; but a recent feature on a Texas centric TV show called the Daytripper. Enough for me to take a chance on Jacoby's. Said family also has an east Austin eatery but I don't dine after five. High time I lead some cars out to Melvin, Texas. Left Bee Cave and took every curvy road I could because sports cars. Took longer to arrive than taking straight roads but we're now sitting down in the cafe. Uhhh, where are the steaks from your own private heard? Dinner menus delivered to the table. You can't stop staring at the desserts at the end of the bar. Onion rings were amazing. Don't think artful or presentation here folks; think squirt bottle of ranch. Still need more but saving for the main course. Steak was delivered and the GF cut off her personal hunk. First thoughts is to compare the dining adventure with Hilltop Cafe and Johnny Nicholas at Hilltop Cafe. If you build it they will come. I think the term "home made" is used WAY too much these days. Jacoby's nails this category. Simply prepared great steak, veggies, salad, and desserts. Staffers even protected the desserts with wrap in between servings. It was good to walk in and dine; locals dressed to a "T" because this is a special occasion restaurant for them. I bought a hat. First time in forever I'm wearing supporting carb. Great place!

They encourage more Formal which is refreshing in a town where most restaurants invite casual. We were on time for our reservation, but waited a few minutes in their small waiting area. The hostess/manager had a bit of a school principal attitude, but overall was pleasant. We were seated in a small room amongst several other tables, but still felt intimate. The lighting is a bit on the dark side, but the candles bring out a great atmosphere. A violinist and cello created a romantic feeling (Enchanted Rock Orchestra Strolling Duo). We started with cocktails, which were crafted beautifully. The menu has old classics as well as innovative ones. For the appetizers, we had the focaccia bread which was delicious as well as the stuffed mushrooms which were delicately made and quite tasty. The wine list is short but encompasses Old world and New World wines. My wife had a Bordeaux while I had a Tuscany blend. Both delicious. For our entrées, we shared the filet mignon with peppercorn sauce with candied brussels sprouts and hand whipped mashed potatoes as sides. The food was surprisingly delicious, well presented and portioned. We truly enjoyed our entrées. For dessert we had the bananas foster cheesecake. Unique, not too sweet, delicious ending. If you come to Fredericksburg, definitely try this restaurant. You will enjoy the experience, the ambience and most definitely the food.

Wagyu should taste highly flavorful! - Mashed potatoes were authentic, yet also bland and lacked flavor. - Great cocktails and wine options. - Very limited space inside. It's difficult to walk to the bar or bathroom without running into multiple people, so if you prefer spacious areas, lookup pics of this place first! - Charging around $20 per person to book a reservation (refunded at check-in) and being unable to change a reservation the day before, even when the restaurant still shows availability, is ridiculous. I've visited tiny islands where the locals truly depend on tourism for every dollar of their livelihood, so you can't tell me this restaurant needs to charge for reservations to survive. I've never experienced this anywhere as a frequent traveler! - I respect their strict NO ball caps policy, but it was odd that my husband and I had a large naked Marilyn Monroe portrait on the wall for our main view. That's not exactly classy either!
