You walk & seat yourself. Lots of locals were eating here, so that was a good sign…read more The daily special was posted: chicken fried chicken, 2 sides, a roll, & drink for $10.49. Our server came over right away, took our sink order, & suggested the daily special. They were almost out so she said she'd put us down for that, if we ordered right away. We ordered onion rings to start. Very crispy & tasty! Ranch dressing was really good! I had the special. It was yummy, but the mashed potatoes came out cold. I sent them back & they were piping hot. The fried okra was well-browned & had a good taste. My hubby had hamburger steak, mashed potatoes, green beans, & a roll. Everything tasted really good to him. This was a quick stop while traveling to Lubbock. It was a nice break from being in the road. We will remember this restaurant for next t time we are passing through.

The food was country cafe cuisine. I want to be careful with this review. It seems the weekend I…read morewas there, a motorcycle rally was in Comanche. There were a lot more people seeking nourishment than would have been on a typical Saturday. So when I say the service was a little slow, I have to add the caveat that I don't think City Center was ready for the invasion. Center City is in an ancient and historic building. The seating is bare bones. They have something going for them. The other go-to American breakfast restaurant closed its doors. The food was what I expected. It was tasty without imagination. Sometimes that is exactly what a traveler is looking for. The bill? It was reasonable. It was the exact amount that the meal was worth. I have to be honest; I can't shout the excellence of this cafe. I can say you get what you pay for. If I were traveling to or through Comance, I wouldn't hesitate to grab breakfast there. I can't speak to the dinner menu. I'm sure it would be more of the same.

Update! The last takeout meal we ordered was the best yet. I had a Caesar salad that was…read moreamazing--not traditional, exactly, but delicious. Cold iceberg lettuce, plenty of dressing (no dinky cups needed) with great little croutons. Made in house? It was that delicious, and grated cheese on top (either Gouda or Mozzarella, but definitely mild and delicious. I'm hungry all over again. I ordered a combo with Canneloni, Ziti and Manicotti, cheesy and delicious as all their food. The best thing was the rolls (complimentary) which were better than ever. Soft and yeasty, buttered and beautifully dusty with Parmesan and garlic. I'm now officially starving! I'm sure we got tiramisu. It's terrific. I've never had a bad meal there, but this was exceptional. These folks are wonderful--and we've seen their kids grow up here. Practically the most wonderful thing of all was the absolutely professional, polished, and polite voice taking our phone order...the little girl who grew up into a polished and terrific young woman. Bravo!

We tried the stuffed mushrooms and had a pizza as appetizers. All entrees come with a salad and bread. I ordered the shrimp fettuccine and it was so creamy. Not dry or oily. I loved it. It's a good size portions.
