Good place for good food. My turkey was tender and juicy and well smoked. Their BBQ sauce is amazing! My son and wife ate every last bite of their plates so must a been good. The gravy on my wife's CFS was super good also! The beans they offer for free are very creamy and flavorful as well. All menu is very affordable as well. We will be back here again. I came here maybe 10 years ago when my Dad was still alive. My brother and I were in town and thought we would have dinner here. It's not what it used to be. Maybe new management. The staff was nice. Clean and small restaurant My brother had a three meat plate for $24. I ordered a senior plate. The poppers were good. The bacon was crispy. The brisket was ok. The potato salad wasn't to my liking. Today we had a group of 8 eat at Cattleman's. Food was average, not anything special. When we were clearly ready to leave and hadn't gotten our tickets, I asked the server and she said we could just proceed to the front and they would let us know how much we owed and we could pay. So we each went up and they located our orders, then (using one of those flip-screens where they turn it toward you to add tips and sign), and we never actually got a printed receipt to review before paying. You're presented with a screen with the various possible tip options, where you choose one, then sign and you're done. I got a printed receipt and when we got home I found out what had happened. Had we gotten a printed receipt first, we likely would have noticed that they had already automatically added an 18% tip before presenting the screen to us with the tip options. There was probably something mentioned in the menu about larger groups getting this automatic tip, but certainly nobody at the front mentioned it. So probably our fault, but the way it was handled made us feel like something underhanded had occurred, and we will not be going back to that restaurant. So just be careful if you're going there with a group of 6 or 8, whatever that number is. They definitely didn't deserve a double tip!! read more

Another place we stopped on our little road trip. This is a small, no frills place. There is unlimited beans which you get yourself out of a big ol' pot. They were good. The BBQ was also good and tender. Nothing to write home about but overall a pleasant experience with lovely staff. This is my second poor experience here. My steak bites were way overcooked, the Mac and cheese was gross. My daughter's brisket sandwich was flavorless and dry. The service was not great with the waitress, but one of our plates was late, so a cook walked by and literally threw it at my daughter. The restaurant itself is ok, our table was so big and the radio was so loud we couldn't hear each other or the waitress. It is very dark inside, but I guess it is part of the "western" theme. This was the first time in Brady and first time in Cattleman's. I drove in from Austin and it was late-ish for Brady so Cattleman's was the only sit down restaurant open so we decided to give it a try. The server was super nice as she told us they were out of all bbq and steaks, and several of the sides. Ok no problem, we ordered Chicken Fried Steaks all around with potato salad and Okra for me, fries and fried okra for the other guests at our table. The food was mostly tasty, hot and plentiful. The meat had not really been tenderized so that would be my biggest complaint. The gravy was nice, okra was fresh made there I believe, potato salad was good and not too mustardy . The service was really nice she was friendly and speedy and doing all positions in the restaurant that night. I would def go again, would hope for steaks though. read more

As we were driving through Brady we had our windows down and no lie my fiancé was like woah I smell bbq we made a u turn and pulled in. Jasmin warmly greeted us. We asked her what the must have are and for bbq she said the ribs and brisket were the top sellers. So we went with her recommendations and ordered the 3 meats plate (double brisket and ribs) that included all you can eat beans, one side, white bread, pickles, white onions and pickled jalapeños. For our side we went with the mac and cheese. The man behind the smoke was Brian. He kindly divided our tray into two. WOWZERS! The food was incredible. Super juicy, well seasoned and a very plentiful portion!!! Oh Jasmin also introduced me to big red soda pop. Yummy! The service, the smoke master and the food were all 5 stars!!! Currently passing through Brady TX and always like to try the local BBQ spots. Looked online on some reviews and decided to stop and check this place out. Everything about this place, exceeded our expectations. The customer service was excellent, from our server Caleb and the greeting we received from Kim at the door helped put us at ease. They served complimentary beans , super delicious and so was the cornbread. The place was very clean, and was quite surprised it wasn't very busy. The Hospitality at this place had us leaving very Happy & our bellies full. One of the WORST BBQ places I've ever tried. The pork ribs had sat in foil so long that the bones had dissolved into sponge. The brisket and turkey had sat under a heat lamp or put in the open for so long that the edges were tough as jerky. The beans were the only edible part of the meal. The brisket was super moist and flavorful with just great smoked beef flavor coming through. The sides, cole slaw and potato salad, were really good also. Also we ordered a burger and fries and quail poppers. They made the burger from scratch for us which took a few minutes but it was worth it. Fries were freshly fried also and hot!! The service was great and very transparent on the few things that weren't available that day and that the quail poppers were more expensive than the posted price, but they were worth it! Stopped in on our way back from a road trip. Great family owned bbq spot. Sloan and her team were great! Food was delicious, service quick and the portions generous. Everything was fresh, homemade slaw, fries super hot, sweet tea did not induce diabetes and the beans were some of the best that I have had in a very long time. We had eaten here before it was Cattleman's and the food was really good. This time I was very disappointed. If you are not used to the water here in Brady, the tea will taste terrible, get a soft drink. I initially ordered the 1/2 chicken but they were out so I ordered a brisket plate. I requested that they not serve me any burnt ends, but guess what I got...I sent it back and it was replaced with some really fatty tough pieces. I could not eat it. We also had to wait over 30 minutes to get our food. And of course it was over $30 for a brisket plate and a rib plate. Spent your money at a good BBQ place...like Coopers in Llano!! read more

Stopped on way to ranch for weekend. Very quaint - small town feel. Bbq is ok - prices comparable. What you would expect. Walked in and "lady" at front register paid no attention to us. Stood at front for a bit and very nice employee cleaning tables asked it we were dining in/out. Told her to go and she came over to take our order. Asked if they had a couple of items available. Very rude lady at entrance ignored me - the nice lady had to ask her and she would answer her. The nice employee went to get order together and we thought we would pay rude lady at register. As we are standing i front of her, she continues looking at computer system - never makes eye contact. When asked if we are to pay her, she picks up her drink and walks off. The very hospitable employee with blond hair in pony tail gave us our order, cashed us out and received a nice tip. Probably will stop at Inman's in Llano on next trip. read more

I came to this restaurant because my daughter told me how wonderful it was when it was called Fat Boys and that I had to come eat their smoked pork chop and make sure I have them dip it. Well they were out of the pork chops & ribs at 6:45 pm on a Friday evening. We decided we'd try their Ribeye special. My husband and I ordered Medium Rare ribeyes. Mine came out over cooked barely medium. My husbands came out medium rare on half of it, that half tasted really good and over cooked on the other part of it. Baked potatoes were hot and large. They have beans on a bar you can get a bowl if you like. They were very good. We ordered 1 quail popper & 1 shrimp popper and the cook dipped in this lemon garlic butter and they were very good. The outside grill cook was very friendly. The inside service lacks ALOT to be desired. First, you have to ask how the restaurant works because they assume you know. You see the food outside which we loved the open pit idea! Next, you walk in the door & the girl asks what your getting. We ordered Ribeye special. She asks what type salad- spinach or regular, we ordered spinach (Spinach salad is spinach with 4 grape tomatoes). It's handed to you in a styrofoam bowl with a lid & a small styrofoam bowl of banana pudding. The banana pudding was ok. We both got unsweet tea and it tasted great then she dumps the unsweet into the sweet tea pitcher and my husband asks when will you have more unsweet tea.... She looks at him and says, "You drink unsweet tea? He says, "Yes." She says, "Oops," and turns around and walks off never made more tea or apologized for dumping it. We spent $50+ on two dinners and were very disappointed on the quality of food & treatment we received for our money. You pay for your food before you pick your seat and you pick up your dishes and trash when your done and take them to a spot near the door. The sad thing is they have the start to a very good idea and could be a great restaurant. We will be passing through regularly and my husband says he doesn't want to come back again. Honestly very disappointed $33 meal three meat special couple poppers and open the box and meet after I've tasted their sides which were actually pretty decent I had the potato salad twice baked potato in she threw in some beans. But opening the Styrofoam container with anticipation of a hearty portion of sausage ribs and brisket. I am thoroughly disappointed. The sides weigh more than the meat. This has to be, hands down, the worst restaurant in Brady. 5 months prior we went in and after finally getting a server to come to our table, we were told no ribs, brisket or steak. We ended up leaving. Today we thought we would give them another try. Nope.... while trying to order I was again told no steak. Ok fine. Ordered a plate with ribs. After she left with order, wife went to get a couple bowls of beans, which they offer to all free, nope.... out of beans. After 5 minutes was told by cook with an attitude that they didn't have ribs. Not happy. Was basically told to pay for our drinks and leave. This place leaves a lot to be desired. Do not go here if you are expecting to eat or interact with a nice employee. Really enjoyed the brisket it was very moist and had a lot of flavor. I thought it was great that there were three choices of BBQ sauce to choose from. My favorite was the 50/50 sauce (try it!). The other people in our party got ribs and it sounded like those were really good too. There is also a selection of fixin's like pickles, butter, cheese, onions, beans, and more to get things just how you like them. They have free refills on sodas and sweet/unsweet iced tea. The staff were really nice and I liked that you could choose where you wanted to sit. I think this would be a great place for a big family. Kids friendly. read more

We have lived in Brady for a year now and tried most every restaurant in town. We tried their brisket last year - it was okay. Last night we decided to try their Ribeye steaks. Jokes on us!!! This was the sorriest excuse for a Ribeye steak we have ever had. It was less than 1/2 inch thick and why bother telling them how well to cook it. The smaller 12 oz. was not much different than the 16 oz. and there was at least 4-5 oz. of fat on it. We do not leave negative reviews as a rule - but this was the most disappointing steak dinner we have ever had - anywhere! read more

It is now restaurant style and took quite a while to get food. Sausage looked and tasted like what I get at the grocery store and heated up. Brisket was so so, not much flavor and a bit dry.
