Gyoza and Char Siu Fried Rice that comes with a combo meal
Krystal C.

Service here is always quick and lovely. This round we got Spicy Pork Belly Tonkotsu Ramen and Spicy Shabu Shabu Shabu Beef Ramen with Char Siu Fried Rice and Gyoza. It was sweet that our server asked to slice the Pork Belly, I didn't even think to ask that when I ordered. My favorite touch will always be the sesame balls at the end of the meal. There are lulls of slow periods but can fill up quickly. Perfect for a gloomy, lazy night!

This place makes hands down the best Japanese curry on island. I've tried a couple, authentic ones, cheap ones, fancy ones, the flavor here is the best! Yeah you wouldn't think a ramen spot got great curry right!? Especially the staff don't look like Japanese? But hey, if it's good food, great service and friendly prices, I'm there. We would drive to Kalihi just for this. Why their curry? Flavorful, great consistency, carrots and onions inside, got a bit of kick to it, perfect balance of saltiness and sweetness. Also their oysters are well fried with a good crunch. Just so glad they got the oyster option! (5 pieces for their oyster curry). Then they got their good tonkotsu going for their ramen. I usually prefer the black garlic oil, but their plain tonkotsu is bomb. Rich and flavorful with noodles with good texture. Great prices because a combo with chicken katsu curry comes with a bowl of ramen and 4 pieces of gyoza for $18.50. On top of that they gave us complimentary delicious fried sesame mochi balls. The place has enough tables to not have people waiting outside, although I do think they deserve to have a waitlist. It's clean, simple and comfortable to dine in. This place deserves 7 stars I think. I hope they do well for a long time because I wanna keep coming back. It's so rare nowadays to have restaurants like this! Mahalo for being a gem to the community! I love Chef's Ramen. See you next week lol.

I got my favorite black garlic Parmesan ramen & kids chicken katsu curry. I could eat here every week forever

Their tonkatsu broth is sooooo good! Very rich it reminds me of ramen from Japan: like the Ichiran ramen + complimentary sesame balls, sooooo good! My first time trying it! + service was good, server came to check on us from time to time & food didn't take that long I will definitely come here again!

I really enjoyed dining here for lunch! The food was all very delicious and flavorful. We got the combos and there was so much food. The staff is very nice and attentive. The restaurant is very comfy and plenty of room to move around in. The gyoza were very juicy. The tonkatsu broth for the ramen was very flavorful! The fried rice was also very good! Everything was seasoned just right. We also got the mochiko chicken curry, and the mochiko was fried very nicely and was very juicy and crunchy! They also gave us some fried sesame balls as a mini dessert and it was super hot and not that sweet. A nice ending to our meal.

This ramen restaurant is located across Kamehameha Bakery, which is very convenient for a quick meal as it has parking space. It's a pretty small restaurant but does have enough tables for seating. Below is what we ordered: -Mochiko chicken curry combo $18.50 Includes mini ramen + 4 piece gyoza -Miso Ramen combo $17.50 Includes mini charsiu fried rice + 4 piece gyoza Free deep fried mochi balls Rating: -mochiko chicken 3/5 The chicken itself it's not over fried, very tender. However, it lacks flavor -miso ramen 3/5 The soup base is very salty, which makes the noodles and the overall ramen salty. -gyoza 3/5 It's also salty, but the outside wrapper is crispy -mochi balls 5/5 It's not as sweet as I think it will. Sweetness is perfect. The texture is great, chewy. Although the food I will give it an overall of 3/5, but I am rating it 5/5 because of the portion and the location. The portion of the food is pretty decent with this price nowadays. It's hard to find a place in town that offer combo meals that's in a decent price but comes with a decent portion of food.

So far the best ramen in Honolulu. We had to date. The broth is nice and flavorful. The noodles are fresh and tender.

Delicious food, Big portions [Honolulu HI] We dined here on our last full day in Oʻahu. Inside is quaint in a casual setting with a small dining room. The restaurant is a table service so we placed our order with the sole employee (maybe owner). I ordered the Butter Garlic Salmon Rice which was delicious. It was described as spicy on the menu but I requested it to be no spice at all. When I took a bite it still had a bit of spicy kick to it but it's okay, I could handle it. The salmon was a generous size! Hubby chose Spam Katsu Curry Combo and our other company ordered each the Tonkotsu Ramen Combo and the Vegetable Ramen Combo that came with gyoza and charsiu fried rice. Towards the end of our dinner we were given a complimentary serving of Jian Dui (Sesame Seed Balls). So kind! So yummy! Chef's Ramen was the suggestion of Nadine C and we met her here for dinner at 5:00p (we had just came from the Battleship Missouri at the Pearl Harbor). Irene M joined us a bit later... the restaurant is located in an unassuming strip mall in City Square (Young's Fish Market on the corner, UBAE just across). The next time we're back in Oʻahu we're heading here! Thank you, Nadine! Review #3588

Better late than never... Ramen for dinner sounds exactly what I needed after returning from a trip and being badly jet lagged a bowl of hot soup is a comfort that I'm so ready for. Chef's Ramen is located in City Square and is a small and cozy place with few seating provided though I've seen many order take out and ordering is by QR Code only so honestly I don't remember exactly what I ordered knowing it's kinda a Veggie Tonkotsu ramen set that comes with four pieces of huge gyoza that was so yuuuuuuummy (I'm a huge gyoza lover) and side of fried rice which I knew I wasn't gonna even touch thinking probably would be perfect for later lol! The service is very nice and friendly even giving us Jin Dui the sesame balls at the end of our meal which was a perfect small bite and a lovely touch that I honestly didn't expect. The vibe is nice and relaxing as the restaurant is nice and clean with the lady constantly refilling our water is very attentive and see why many do come and love it here as the comfort is more than just their food. Thank you!

Dinner in Kalihi, Honolulu, Hawaii... We all had never been to Chef's Ramen at City Square, so we decided to meet there. We read reviews by Bruddah Fran, Paul, Gabriel, Lyla, and Daniel... our trusted friends. It seemed like a good place because of the free shared parking, reasonable prices, generous portions, and convenient location. Inside, the restaurant was clean and the service was efficient. We scanned the QR code for the menu. There was a slight hiccup when the server returned to the table and announced that there was no loco moco Ramen available... and she returned again to clarify the spam katsu order... no spicy, please. I got the Tonkotsu Ramen set which included 4 pieces of yummy gyoza and a bowl of fried rice. I wasn't able to finish the rice. The server offered a takeout bo... yes, please! This was quite a pleasant experience! Thanks for letting us stay and chat! I want to return and have my mom eat the salmon!

Crave is on! There is no other ramen place like Chef's as the location is so convenient for us. Had to order my fave Black Garlic Parmesan and hubby trying the Miso Tonkatsu (both had so much flavor) we also had to have starters with Gyoza (homemade) and ending with sweet sesame balls (can't beat it from anywhere). Always so pleasantly friendly service and the vibe is so welcoming.

Arrived a few minutes after opening, greeted & seated quickly. Scanned QR code for menu as water w/lemon served. Tan tan ramen w/mochijo chicken was portioned great. Rich, hearty broth w/bits of garlic. Super flavorful. Ajitama egg made perfectly, unlike some other places that call it Ajitama & turn out to be a regular hard boiled one. Mochiko chicken was moist & plentiful. Gyoza wasn't piping hot so easy to eat right away. Was given a complimentary order of gin dui for dessert. Perfectly bite sized! Prices are great, restaurant is clean, staff is friendly. Seating for about 24 total. 4 tables for 4 & 4 tables for 2. Also saw 2 high chairs available. Located right next door to Sugoi's and kitty corner from Kamehameha Bakery.

Make it a combo... +$9 includes 4pc Gyoza & Fried Rice

Open Sunday night, BYOB and they accommodated our party of 10 people. First time here. Lots of parking, and it's a quaint ramen restaurant (good thing we made reservations). Love the menu options - nice variety for our big group. We enjoyed all the dishes. Complimentary mini Jin Dui was a nice touch to end our filling meal... freshly made and hot. Would return.

Seems like they do a lot of take out. They do take ressies but I'm not sure how crowded it gets since we were there at an off hour (4pm) Got the Omelet Rice with coedo curry ($18.98) and the chicken cutlet with udon ($20.99). The omelet was nice and fluffy on top a bed of rice and eaten together in one bite was yum! The udon was plain in a shoyu base with a platter of chicken katsu freshly fried in a light crispy batter. The chicken was very moist and a nice sized portion-had to take some home as I'm not a big eater. There are tons of other curry combos-mostly fried items. We share the medium Jugem Head which was fried honey toast ($9.99) topped with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and whipped cream. Nice way to end dinner. Staff was very nice and friendly. If you like Japanese curry and want to try the Coedo curry, this is the place to come! Btw- there's only two of them working so give them time to prepare your meal.

I also purchased some gift certificates. Since it's hand-written (not like a prepaid card with balance on it), the amount is fixed, ie no change will be given if it's not redeemed fully. I broke the gift up in 3 certificates of different amounts so the recipient can enjoy 3 times!

Happy National Noodle Day…read more.. What better reason than this spot that I've been eyeing and mom wanted Bahn Mi as well so it was the perfect decision along with being in the area to take my carb cravings and celebrate my favorite choice of carb as well. Located right in N King St near Farrington HS there is a decent amount of free parking and table seats from two to six and more the service is very friendly instant greet as soon as I walked in to place my takeout order. It was Lemongrass Tofu Bahn Mi and Lemongrass Chicken Vermicelli with Spring Rolls omg yes sir!!! Though my fried brains got it wrong it was Summer Rolls not Bahn Mi...sigh! So I placed another order and they were very nice and so polite even offered me water as I wait which didn't take very long to be honest before I was on my way. Love the spring rolls it was fried perfectly but personally the noodles were just too thick and chewy I had difficulty picking it up without breaking and that's with the sauce which was nice and light not as strong which I didn't mind just in the end lacked flavor. The salad that came with it was nice and fresh versus the usual raw sprouts it had pickled carrots and daikon with cucumber and lettuce which paired perfectly with the dish, the shredded lemongrass chicken just didn't work for me personally it was dry and needed more sauce. Loved that they asked if I wanted hot sauce which was amazing...I would've preferred that any day. The vibe at this cozy spot is so nice and welcoming so friendly and kind with lots of table to enjoy at your leisure and see that they add their own touches which is great but some things weren't my thing but then again some items are worth coming back for....not the Bahn Mi it was a soggy hot mess almost no veggies and the saddest cilantro was like an after though or they were gonna run out and was all they had. Thank you!
