Illegal charge for water and illegal credit card surcharge (hidden in "total taxes" line on left receipt)
    Malcolm D.

This place used to be a good spot for breakfast. But the new owners just break the law to profit off customers. Ask for a glass of water with your meal, and you'll be told no - you must buy bottled water for $1.50. But It's illegal for at a licensed restaurant to charge for water. https://www.food24.com/do-you-know-its-actually-illegal-for-licensed-restaurants-to- refuse-customers-free-water/amp/ Credit card surcharges are illegal. But this place doesn't care - they just break the law. Have a close look at your bill and you'll find they've added a 4.9999% credit card fee. Or maybe you won't see it - on one copy of our bill, they hid it in a line called "taxes" ! https://portal.ct.gov/DCP/Legal/Credit-Card-Surcharge# Explained to them they're liable for a $500 fine each and every time they add a surcharge. They don't care.

Went here while traveling to Amherst from NY ... read the YELP reviews & decided to check it out. YES the parking was the hardest as previous reviews have suggested. Really difficult specially if you have a SUV. The breakfast was okay. A bit bland. Nothing special to write home about. After requesting the eggs to be well done but not burnt, it was burnt & running ... not flipped around. The veg omelettes were okay ... not much flavor. The coffee was fresh & we definitely enjoyed it & requested refills. Service was good, very welcoming when we walked in. Our waitress took our orders quickly. While we were waiting for our breakfast, our server started talking in spanish while she was wiping down the other tables, to the cook who was across the counter preparing our breakfast. I don't mind them talking but you don't need to be loud and yelling your conversation in the entire seating area (mind you its not that big a seating area) ... that was a bit annoying & disturbing. We had a YELP check-in for 20% & they refused to honor it. Had to argue about it. Credit card fees are added on the bill without notification. Make sure you have enough cash if you don't want to pay extra credit card fees.

    Cozy up at the counter.

Ambience is strange but accommodating. Food is stellar. Service was warm and friendly. I'd return 4 sure.

Staff mopping. Trying to give us an extra hint to leave the premises!

The bar staff was extremely rude and unpleasant. I ordered my second cocktail around 9:15 pm. At about 9:20 pm my party was presented with the check. One person in our group went to the restroom and the barman said he could only split the bill among 4 credit cards. I said I would pay in cash and he reluctantly split the bill in 5. I have never felt like I was being escorted out of a bar like this! I am sure the owner would not be pleased with this kind of rude service!! Around 9:25 pm 3 employees were standing with their arms crossed at the bar giving me and my friend glaring stares! To top it off, someone started mopping the bar area!

What a little gem we found. Waiting for a family member having a procedure in downtown Stamford, looked up this diner. Convinced my picky 15 year old son to try it. We settled on the breakfast special. It came with either pancakes or french toast. So we ordered opposites, he pair his with bacon and scrambled eggs, I had over medium with bacon delicious! The parking lot was the hardest part of the visit. The place reminds me of the 50s typical long diner with old stools and 7 tables. My son is a country boy. This city experience I hope he enjoyed.

First time here, they greeted us right away and seated us! Many items to chose from the menu. Large portions & good quality! Bright & clean We will be back...

Literally wanted to try this place since I moved to Stamford in June. Finally did today with my daughter for a yummy breakfast. Didn't miss a mark. They had everything I wanted. All cooked perfectly. All how I asked for it. Couldn't beat that. Service was good. Not sure how they're not so busy but I hope that they are given more because yum. I want you stay open. Walked from my home by cove beach. Has browns instead of homefries just made me so happy as an option. Crepes were delish. I wanted plain with just lemon and butter and powdered sugar and they let me have it my way. I really appreciate that. Nutella pancakes with strawberries Happy Happy.

Today was the first time we've eaten here in years. We were seated immediately but we waited more than 40 minutes for the food to come. We watched people leave because they could not wait for their food any longer. At first, I thought a chef must have called out. When our food finally came, I was forced to look at the most unappealing home fries that were molded to the plastic container they were stored in. At least try to make them look fresh bru. And the whole restaurant was cold. I was cold. The food was cold. This place should be called COLD Street Diner, am I right? And the coffee refill came like once. In the whole hour and a half we were there. The only times someone would walk by was to clear a table, or that guy idk who he is idk if he's the owner but he was wearing balenciaga sweatpants and then he would just go stand by the register to sip on some wine. My mother ordered the huevos rancheros and they were bland asl. I ordered the birria omelette and it was BLAND EVERYTHING WAS BLAND!!! The birria was just wet it didn't taste like anything bro. We haven't been to the Norwalk location but a lady sitting next to us noticed that we weren't happy with our food and she was speculating that all the good cooks got transferred there. Whether it's the cooks to blame, or the fact that it's a busy Saturday, it's safe to say we will not be coming back.

When I walked in, the place was packed--which I initially took as a good sign. Busy usually means good food and good service. I was seated at a small two-top in the back blocking the counter seating, which was already tight for a meeting with paperwork. As the lunch crowd began to clear out, the table next to me opened up. I started to move my materials to give us a bit more space for the meeting. At that point, a waitress approached me in a very abrupt and unpleasant tone and said, "Where do you think you're going?" I explained that the table had just become available and that I needed the space for a business meeting. She immediately shut me down, saying, "No, you're not. That's a four-person table and you're only two." It was around 2:00 p.m., the restaurant was already emptying out, and they close at 3:00 p.m., so the response felt unnecessary and frankly rude. I told her she didn't need to be so nasty--I had no idea there were strict rules about not moving to an empty table in a nearly empty restaurant. I stayed where I was because the only other available tables were even more cramped for 2 people, and at least I had space to set my pocketbook and paperwork on a stool next to me instead of the floor. Unfortunately, the experience got worse. When my client arrived, 215pm, we were largely ignored for service even though the restaurant was nearly empty at that point. Food was basic. My takeaway: unless you enjoy being packed into tight seating, dealing with extremely unprofessional and unfriendly staff, struggling to get service, I would not recommend this place. Hospitality and courtesy go a long way, and sadly both were missing here. And one final thought: in the service industry, you never know who your customers are or what opportunities kindness might bring. Do better! 65+ MILLION FOLLOWERS on the internet!

"I'll go back to the diner I'll write another letter…read moreI hope you'll read it this time" (Billie Eilish) I kind of laughed when our server brought over our menus. They were in a heavy book (reminded me of a high school yearbook) with six pages of choices plus an insert of daily specials. Post Road is the kind of diner that diner lovers dream of. Their menu is an embarrassment of riches and would seamlessly fit in alongside anything you would find on the Sunrise Highway on Long Island or on Route 17 in New Jersey. Three of us walked in around 11:30am today, and our first order of business was deciding if we'd go for lunch or breakfast food. We all went for breakfast plates- pancakes ($9.99) with a side of scrambled eggs ($2.99), GF Pancakes ($12.98), and for me a "Protein Breakfast" ($13.99) and a coffee ($3.49). So, I'm sure you're asking, "what on earth is a protein breakfast?' Well, it was four egg whites, a few gorgeous tomato slices, and a nice piece of grilled chicken. It was pretty filling and everything tasted great. Our server was efficient and professional and swiftly brought over a "to go" box for the excess of those enormous pancakes. The dining room is awesome, a real throwback to the 1950's with plenty of old-time booths, art deco neon signs, checkerboard ceramic tile, and music\entertainment\pop culture images everywhere. We really enjoyed our visit !
