    "SURF & TURF" PASTA

Food was plentiful and good. Our waiter was really nice and gave us good advice on what's good. The place is inside an apartment complex I believe, so you need to get a pass from the front. Would go again if I'm ever in town again!

    Calamari

What a find! We loved the food and the staff was friendly and fast. Portions were generous and food was delicious. Some of the best calamari I've ever had - lightly fried, flavorful and fresh. A true gem and so glad we stopped in for dinner!

Really interesting place. It's located on the bottom floor of an apartment complex (or maybe they are condos, I'm not sure) and you have to drive through security gate to get in. We went this time to try the pizza. They have a nice patio area but we decided to sit inside by the bar. The pizza was good and flavorful, Detroit style pizzas. Drinks were good as well. The only thing we didn't care for was the banana cream pie dessert. The banana topping and filling was nice but we didn't like the crust. Service was very good but they did become quite busy near the end of our meal and attentiveness started to peter out. I'd like to go back some time and try their non-pizza menu items.

Wish I could give a 3.5 because I did like their service and they even packed my food for me instead of just giving me a box! Jorge was nice and Inviting, but the paella was not amazing imo especially for the price. The calamari was also pretty good but I was expecting more based on the description that was given to me. I think the atmosphere is nice and I'll probably try this place again with another dish, but I do think you should check this place out if you like seafood because they do have a lot of options.

My hidden gem has fresh seafood and keeps a tasty, seasonal cheesecake. This halibut has a nice crab cream sauce with perfectly roasted vegetables. I love a crisp potato. The cheesecake is tasty and not overly sweet. Zucchini is thin, just to know, in case you want to try a different appetizer. The restaurant is small with friendly waiters. If you're going to this location on a weekend, reservations are highly recommended.

Chef Tony's has so much going for it. Great location, off the beaten path, in a gated condo. Parking is pretty easy. Getting to the restaurant is fun, a little like Henry and Karen entering the Copa to see Bobby Vinton in Goodfellas. The restaurant is on the Arcade level and is sleek, fresh, and well-lighted. There is a separate bar area with softer lighting and an outdoor patio as well. The dishes I've ordered or tried have all been solid. The portions are more than generous, which is nice to know with prices everywhere being higher. My favorite is Dad's Crab Pasta. They also have Pizza, Detroit style. My go-to is the 4-4-2. Deep dish, sausage, bacon, ample sauce, milder cheese blend, hot honey drizzle... Most recently tried the mushroom pizza. I could eat that every day. The pizza is an acquired taste. The sauce is on the "sweet" side, which I like, and there is plenty of it, I like that too. You can opt in to receiving text messages/ from them, which can be nice, if you want to know about specials and such. Service is on par, prices as well, though the portions are more than ample, so overall, pretty decent value, especially these days.

I had heard from others about Chef Tonys. I heard the seafood was fantastic. I thought I would check it out. Upon arrival, I did not realize the restaurant was located on the ground floor of a condo high-rise. There is security you have to stop and see to get a parking pass to enter the property. The property parking should be ample for the restaurant and the nearby arcade. The signage for the restaurant is small but enough to maneuver your way through the hallway to fond the restaurant. The restaurant space is fairly small and older. The aroma, however, is bold and exciting. The crab staffed mushrooms were very flavorful. A tad too much mustard in the mix for me other very good. The lobster was very good and a great size. It is served ith sqaush and potatoes. The canoli was just OK. I had a couple of mixed drinks. They were OK as well. Overall, it's great food. Worth the visit.

I didn't get to take any pictures but went to dinner on a Tuesday night. The food was delicious and the staff was very friendly and offered great recommendations. We tried the seafood pasta and the stuffed salmon and both were excellent. The calamari was as also delicious, never had better. The serve large portion sizes! Definitely recommend if you're in the Bethesda area.

I came here on a Friday with my husband and son. My friend had given me a gift card to Chef Tony's that I had been holding onto for awhile so I was very excited to give this place a try. The restaurant is actually inside a high rise community so I was honestly a little confused turning into the community... I thought Google Maps had steered me wrong. This Chef Tony's location is inside of a residential community, you have to let the parking gate keeper know once you arrive. We had no issues finding parking and a few residents walking outside were kind enough to direct us to the 'Arcade' entrance where the restaurant is located a few steps from. There is both indoor and outdoor seating available as well as high chairs for children. My husband and I ordered a few dishes to try and share: - Half a Dozen Local Oysters - These are from the Chesapeake Bay in Maryland. The oysters were large and it came with cocktail sauce and two lemon wedges to flavor the oysters. - Cream of Crab Soup - I really liked this soup, you can really taste the Old Bay flavor. There are lumps of crab meat sprinkled throughout the soup. Any fan of crabs would love this soup :) - Dad's Crab Pasta - This comes with lump crab meat, curry accented tomato cream sauce and linguine pasta. This reminded me of a Buttered Chicken flavor. I would definitely order this again next time I come back! - Maryland Style Crab Cake - This comes with a huge crab cake made up of crab meat (zero filler), garlic mashed potatoes and daily veggies. This was cooked perfectly and tasted great with the two sides all mixed with the sauce The staff here were friendly, attentive and even took the time to try to interact with my son. i really enjoyed my experience here and will definitely be adding this into my rotation of restaurants when I feel like eating out :)

The portions aren't huge, but they're perfectly sized--just enough to enjoy everything and still have room for dessert. The crab roll was incredibly fresh and flavorful, and the salad with its tangy dressing paired perfectly with it. The deviled eggs were honestly the best I've ever had--no exaggeration. The richness of the filling was outstanding. The cocktails were light and refreshing, and happy hour made everything feel even more worth it. I ended with the key lime pie, which was fluffy, bright, and layered in deliciousness. The atmosphere is open, friendly, and has a really well-done nautical vibe that fits the whole experience. I was a little worried the food wouldn't be as good because it was so busy, but that wasn't the case at all. We ordered two Combo B (OH SNAP!) and one Combo F (FEELIN' CRABBY). For one of the Combo B, we added an extra 3 lbs of crawfish, 3 lbs of clams, and 2 lbs of Dungeness crab. For each pound of seafood boil, it comes with one corn and two potatoes. The seafood boil was drenched in their ultimate Juicy Special sauce. Their sauce is so good! It's packed with bold flavors and a nice spicy kick (This makes it addicting). You also can't sleep on potatoes and corn! It's soft and sweet which balances out the bold tastes! If you're craving a seafood boil, Juicy Seafood is the place to go! Everything tasted amazing, and it's such a great value. If you're not sure which sauce to choose, just go with the Juicy Special. It's hands down the best! I'll definitely be back for more. Thank you for such a great experience!

I had some mild expectations when arriving at Barrel & Crow which were quickly met and exceeded. Our party of four enjoyed a truly delightful and delicious meal. From the moment we sat down, our server--Dan--delivered five-star service. He was genuinely friendly, attentive without hovering. His knowledge of the menu and thorough description of the dishes was also notable. Some were his favorites, so he really described them (all) with mucho gusto. It was like we were guests in his home. We basically ended up ordering literally everything he recommended and he was absolutely spot-on. We started with the fried green tomatoes and calamari. Our smorgasbord of entrées included the lamb bolognese (my favorite, though sadly not the one I ordered), a beautifully tender lamb shank, spiced shrimp and grits, and a deeply flavorful andouille and seafood gumbo. Each dish was thoughtful and well prepared, though the shrimp and grits were a bit savorier than I'm accustomed to. Dessert didn't disappoint either. We savored the chocolate torte and also their signature sweet beignets. They were the perfect ending to an already stellar meal.We left behind so many other tempting menu items and looking forward to our next visit.

We'll have to look for an opportunity when we are around the dog all day, so she can be on her own for a couple of hours, likely sleeping. Birdsong already is acclaimed. This is much more Thai and Thai American. Like Chinese or Italian cuisine before it, Thai flavors have assimilated to a palate not accustomed to the true strength of the spices. Birdsong is a remedy. They do not offer the pad thai that has become a staple, no longer exotic but to its detriment. (A digression. The history of pad thai, with contested origins, is fascinating. As you delve into these matters, you see how syncretic culture is. You also are exposed to the efforts to fashion a unifying mythology.) We ordered the chicken, the shrimp, the crab fried rice, the papaya salad, and the enhancement. The chicken and the shrimp were quality ingredients, prepared well. Although both proteins were fried, they felt clean. The crab fried rice was one option of many with the rice base. The papaya salad was fresh. The enhancement was radish with "fermented daikon, garlic, red onion, cilantro, palm sugar, and fish sauce scrambled with eggs for a balanced savory and sweet flavor," and the portion was generous: we put it on the rice, then I finished it off in an omelet the next morning. We have traveled to Bangkok. Thai spiciness exceeds what I would endorse, and I love hot dishes. Birdsong was much milder, though with sufficient pepperiness my wife, who does not share my preferences, remarked it was closer to her limit. They will work with you in this respect, and I'm confident I could request something that would test my capabilities. That is, in my book, all positive. The dishes that were mild according to the menu, were mild, but they were flavorful. If you do not like fish sauce, for example, you may not appreciate the offerings, which if they don't have fish sauce have something along those lines. I hope Birdsong fares well.

But we thought only one of the four dishes we ordered was especially good, I wouldn't order the other three again. The Basil Shrimp - described as "Battered and golden fried" seemed more like tempura. I wouldn't have ordered if I knew. The Tom Yum soup was good, but very pricey at $25. For comparison, a similarly sized, likely an even larger entree Tom Yum soup at Bambu is $14. It had lots of noodles. We were sharing, and asked our server for recommendations- she suggested a second dish with the same noodles. Usually a server points out if diners are ordering two dishes with the same base ingredient (noodles) but our server actually suggested the second one. Seriously? And unfortunately, it was underwhelming, just blah. We left most of it. We got the chocolate crème brûlée, the presentation was very nice, with gilded peanuts on top. The taste was just so so, sweet but not much chocolate flavor. We liked the decor and the atmosphere was nice. We loved the bird mural. Service was mixed. Our server was friendly, but could have been more helpful. First, the recommendation for a second dish with the same noodles was not a good one. We asked if we could share everything, including the soup. We specifically asked if they could put it into bowls for us. They brought two bowls, but we had to wait a while for a spoon to divide it ourselves at the table. She ended up bringing us one of those small soup spoons that you often use for soup at Chinese restaurants. It was around the same size as a regular soup spoon. Apparently they didn't have anything that is more like a ladle, and it was not very useful for portioning out the soup. We thought we'd love this restaurant, but it was a miss for us tonight. Not only that, and this is on us, the only dish with any real nutrition or healthy ingredients was the soup. For one "small plate" appetizer, two entrées and one dessert, the total was just under $100.
