I'll first start off by saying, I plan to return so that I can increase my star rating... Called twice to phone in my order (and to see if they were open), but no one answered. Due to the reviews I really wanted to try the place, so since it wasn't too far out of my way, I stopped by. The open sign was lit up and I saw someone walk in, so I took a chance. Customer service was decent. Placed my order and waited in my car (due to restaurant rules b/c of the pandemic) for about 10-15 min. Went back in. Food was done and smelled delicious. Ordered two fish and fries dinners. The price was sooo reasonable for the amount of food you receive. I appreciate the staff opening the food container before you leave so that you can make sure the order is correct. I just couldn't wait until I got home to try the fries, so I ate a few once I got in the car. They were good but EXTREMELY salty/overly seasoned. But I was still excited to try the rest. Finally arrived home and ate the fish. The fish was also EXTREMELY overly seasoned... but beautifully cooked and the filet was so big. I want to try the fish again and ask if they can make it with less salt/Old Bay seasoning or whatever they use. So not to waste or have to drink tons of water with my meal, I ended up sautéing some spinach and tomatoes and added applesauce to my plate to accompany the fish just to offset the saltiness. I will return because I love supporting black owned businesses and I want to try other dishes, especially the shrimp. I would recommend dining /ordering here at least once. read more

Bottom line is if you want to carry out fresh crispy juicy tasty carefully plated and reasonably priced seafood AND not be hungry when you're done eating this is where you need to be. The crab cake was ALL CRAB. Just enough breading to hold it together. Also delicious! Fries are flavored and crispy! Second plate was a cheesesteak, four huge gulf shrimp and fries. Cheesesteak was not traditional but it was bangin. Meat was juicy, cheese was plentiful, had sweet peppers on it whic was a nice twist, and covered in "chef skips special sauce." Wow! Nothing negative to say about Chef Skip. Been following him on social media but never had the chance to try him out til recently. The only thing that made me gasp a little was the price points but hey, you get what you pay for and I'm not disappointed whatsoever. To give you an idea: $18 will get you fries, jumbo shrimps, 2 big pieces of fish, and a 4 oz crab cake shaped into a ball. For $14, you can get the same minus the crab cake ball. My family tore our meals up. We were impressed and I esp loved the sweet potato fries and wish they gave the same amount as they do regular fries. Small take-out spot in the Green Run area so don't expect to order and dine in. You get it to go. I appreciate the open concept so customers can see the action in the kitchen. From what I could see, everything looked clean and in working order. You can even sign your name or leave your mark on their walls. The girl at the front was nice and asked if it was our first time in there. She even showed us our food before bagging it up and I really appreciated that. Chef Skip is less than a mile from my house, I am local to Virginia Beach and Green Run is where im from!!! Over the years i have seen many other restaurants come and go Chef Skips 757 has been there several years. I wish i had not waited so long to give this place a try. Skip keeps his menu up to date, prices fair, portions LARGE, seasoning plentiful, and seafood fresh. This is literally my number one spot for shrimp, CRAB CAKES (all lump meat, no filler), fish, and even philly cheesesteaks and wings!! The hype is real, these were the best fish tacos I've ever had. They are fried perfectly, moist with a light breading with the perfect amount of seasoning. The filets were thick and tender. They were accompanied by a really nice cole slaw, finely chopped tomatoes, and a delicious sauce. The "Chef Skip" sauce, which they also sell by the bottle, is a winner. It is a mayo based sauce, with some reddish hue and a great balance of sweet and spicy without either flavor being overpowering. The fries on the side were also delicious, lightly coated and crispy and seasoned with Old Bay. I don't usually eat potatoes, but I ate a few of these. The presentation was also beautiful. It was in a syrofoam container, but artistically presented, the flower being a very nice touch. Their menu has the Southern African-American seafood classics you would expect, but executed in an elevated manner. The place itself is takeout only unfortunately, but don't let that prevent you from giving them a try, the food is phenomenal! They're located in a little strip of shops on Dahlia Dr, down the street from Green Run HS. They have a location in Portsmouth too, Portsmouth Blvd at Airline. This is a must try. Love the food here. I always get the shrimp taco or fish sandwich, I had the crab cake sandwich once it. The crab was soft inside and fresh, it was great. Whatever sauce they top it with is really good too! I've had it 3 times already will be back for more. (Didn't get a pic of the shrimp)..... one downfall about this place is they never answer the phone when you call to place an order. I was told by the cashier "we don't answer the phone during shift change" which is odd your losing money and they are always running out of food. They haven't gotten an idea of how much they will run through in a week or month. So they tend to be out of items often. The girl /guy who took my order,has no customer service skills at all, they should've not come to work if they are not in the mood to service the public.
