Established July 7, 1960 -- same location, same World Famous Footlongs, still slinging them out of a kitchen that's clearly been doing this a long, long time. There's even a framed cease-and-desist letter from Subway's lawyers on the wall over the word "Footlong" -- they told 'em no. Fifteen years later, still hanging there, still called a Footlong. We had the Short Reuben Dog and the Long Chicago Dog, plus a side of fried corn and onion rings. April took great care of us -- sweet, and clearly not slowing down with baby #2 on the way. The Chicago Dog alone is worth the trip -- easily twice the size, cheaper, and better than a certain loud-on-social-media hot dog guy's version. Yes, that's a dig, and yes, it's deserved. Fried corn was a fun surprise, onion rings were solid, and honestly -- what's not to love here? One gripe: there's a credit card upcharge that isn't clearly disclosed up front. Worth knowing before you order. Otherwise, this is a bucket-list stop. Wish we lived closer. We'll be back -- someday, somehow.

It was about 7.50 after paying in cash. I waited for a couple minutes, and it my name was called to pick up my order. I ate outside in a small bench. The hotdog was loaded with the toppings like relish, pickles, and peppers. I added mustard and ketchup too. The hotdog was plump, and the toppings were alright. It isn't as good as Portillos, but still decent for the price. It was filling for lunch too. The atmosphere is the same, but the party room in the back is now available in you have an extra air conditioned space to eat. It wasn't that crowded outside, but there were quite a few inside. I guess more people wanted the cooler area as it was a bit hot and humid outside. Parking can sometimes be hard to get in the front, so there is a back area too. There is a small stage for concerts now, but I haven't seen any yet. The mechanical horse still works, but the dino one was out of order, and the dolphin one looks to be gone. Staff is pretty quick and friendly. I am glad I ate here again on Sunday as the food was good and filling. No complaints for 7.50 on a footlong Nathan Chicago dog. Will continue to visit occasionally when I am in Brooksville. Overall: B

This food truck is run by the sweetest husband-and-wife team, and their warmth alone makes you want to support them -- but the FOOD seals the deal. I mentioned I'd never had oxtail before, and the husband had his wife give me a sample. Holy smokes. One bite and I was sold. Ended up ordering the oxtail meal with rice, collard greens with ham, and black-eyed peas. Every single thing was absolutely delicious. And the sweet potato cornbread? Unreal. Moist, flavorful, and honestly one of the best pieces of cornbread I've ever had. Everything was fantastic from start to finish. I HIGHLY recommend stopping by and giving this food truck a try. They're kind, hardworking, and serving up truly amazing soul food. Don't miss them!

The meat is over cooked, dry and tough, can not even eat. The collard greens are decent, the Mac and cheese is basic. The chocolate cake is a light Bundt cake that's good! Not worth it, the potato salad would be the only reason I would return. Pretty disappointed across the board

Rye Street Deli & Dogs is not only a neighborhood restaurant, it is a family operated business…read morewhere everyone in this family is involved, and it is a joy to hear them all working and laughing together. Even better, you are joyfully welcomed into their family chaos, (chaos being a term of endearment) as you are just another cousin that has come to be fed. You are always heartily welcomed and often by name...and if my name was Norm...well you know how that greeting would go. Owner, Ryan, in NYC fashion, is bringing the melting pot of American regional favorites by inviting guests to share their favorite sandwiches so he and his family will not only replicate them but add them to their menu. From Chicago breaded steak, Boston roast beef, and Indiana pork tenderloin sandwiches along with their classic diner menu items, Rye Street is a travel guide of classic American dining. From savory to sweet, your tastebuds will enjoy the ride. Which brings me to this post on the Chicago breaded steak sandwich. When I saw their video on the prep for this sandwich I knew I was in. Hadn't had a breaded steak "san" in many years and it did not disappoint. Paper thin steak is breaded and quickly fried, with several pieces nested in a roll with marinara and melted mozzarella. So good, so good, so good! As always, I eat half and take home the rest for another meal and can say that a quick run in my air fryer and it was just as tasty the next day. I was so caught up with this sandwich that I forgot about the desserts that are now offered and it wasn't until I got home that I saw the image of the crumb cake. Came in today for a hot pretzel and bring home crumb cake and was offered up a free pickle at the counter as I placed my order. Just when I thought it couldn't get more NYC than I take a bite out of the crunchiest, garlicky, and juiciest pickle. It's like I reached in and took it out of a pickle barrel. Now, a garlic kissed pickle isn't for everyone, but this NJ gal was raised on them, and this was like home for me. Haven't had decent crumb cake since I was 12 and 60 years later, I find it at Rye Street Deli & Dogs. Took one look at these delectable sweets and new I was back in Englewood. Not gonna lie, I purchased three and hands down, it was everything I had hoped for. Truly, if you are looking for the original NJ/NY crumb cake, the kind where the vanilla cake is moist and then topped with a thick layer of brown sugar and cinnamon streusel. (I nearly laid down on the floor and screamed it was so damn good and glad I had two more left for tomorrow's breakfast and dinner dessert). Next on my tour of their menu will be the fried bologna sandwich.
