Each time I've been to this Cheddar's my service hasn't been very good. The waiter/waitress would come get our drink orders (water/coke) and wouldn't return with them for 10 minutes or so. Needless to say they hardly checked on us and we sat with empty glasses of ice for quiet awhile. We had dinner there on 7/16/17 - my birthday. It has become my favorite restaurant of all. The atmosphere is wonderful, the service was great and the food was spectacular. The prices are terrific, also. We totally enjoyed our experience and can't wait until the next time we get down that way - or just pick a day for a nice drive. I had the half rack of ribs and the grilled shrimp with a loaded baked potato and the broccoli cheese casserole - every bite was fantastic. My Husband enjoyed his shrimp fries and coleslaw, also. Don't be fooled by the Scratch Kitchen name. Nothing from scratch here. Big chain place like Applebee's etc. Had the most dry ribs I've ever had. Plenty of sauce on top side only... to cover up but like sawdust in mouth. Those good looking rolls on the Google place page will cost you about 1.00 a piece. I'm going to stop going to ANY restaurant that doesn't have free bread or chips. Places keep raising the prices but don't even want to give us some bread. And what's with all these three and four star reviews from people that have had bad service or food? Quit being so generous. You're not helping other people decide where to eat accurately. Our food was prepared accurately except for the ribs being drier than the bone. The server was adequate but not very social or friendly. Ate there on a very slow Tuesday night at 7:30. 4 people 3 entrees one Burger and Fries $56 mediocre at best kind of a waste. read more

A busy, popular family restaurant. We have eaten here three times and will do so again when passing through Wheeling. Our last visit we were seated right next to the kitchen door, but the design of the booth made it OK, as the barrier was high and substantial (the place was crowded, or otherwise we'd have requested another table.) I ordered the chicken fried steak. Huge serving, potatoes that had true potato flavor, not just a pile of starch, a nice fresh garden salad with a melt-in-your-mouth roll, and good service. My guest had ribs which he savored with no complaints at all. Each of the three times we have asked locals, employees in the Cabelas, for a recommendation for a restaurant, they all said Cheddars and I see why. read more

We have eaten at Cheddar's many times, but tonight was HORRIBLE! First of all, we walked in and the noise level was thru the roof... music playing and the entire restaurant trying to talk over each other. I realize a lot of places are noisy, but for some reason Cheddar's always seems worse. In fact, the noise level itself is enough to prevent us from going back. It was close to 9PM when we went and the wait on our food was down right ridiculous! My husband ordered chicken Alfredo... when it arrive WITHOUT any chicken I was about to go postal. Our server went to the kitchen and got chicken for us to add.. well.... That was another long wait. The food was good, as it always is. But the noise and wait time is totally unacceptable! That being said, the chicken Alfredo cost was deducted from our bill. But it winded up not being a nice dining experience. Sorry Cheddar's, you just lost 2 customers! read more

We have been eating at this Cheddar's since it opened and always had good food and service, until today. My husband's meal was fine, chicken pot pie and salad. I ordered a club sandwich, big mistake. The turkey was processed lunch meat, yuk! The broccoli cheese side was mostly cheese, and the ice tea was terrible. I'm guessing it was instant. I lived in Wheeling for about 2 years and can honestly say this was one of the few places that was consistently good. It was not spectacular, but it was certainly above most of the surrounding restaurants. Ask for the honey butter glazed croissants and that alone would be 5 stars. If you take into account the really really long wait times on some nights, it knocks it down a bit. The decor is really nice, the place is clean, and they're good for a drink, if you can find a spot at the bar. I always liked their salmon and the hawaiian chicken wrap or salad. I know a lot of my local friends generally loved the buffalo chicken wrap. If you have some super refined palate, go to Oglebay and get ready to spend money. If you want a good lunch or dinner that is well made and will almost definitely leave you with an entire box to have for lunch the next day at a good price, go here. read more

They have a line 20 deep waiting every night. Then you finally get a table after waiting 20 minutes to find out their is 20 empty tables!!! Been their 3 times same thing .Slow staff food is average . Have to wait forever to get your check to get out of the place. Its either under staffing or a ploy to make people driving by to think wow they must have good food look at the line of waiting people!!!! read more

I went to this Cheddars when it first opened and loved it! Food, atmosphere and service were great! Haven't been there for years. Took a friend from out of town for the great food-not! Hamburgers were "pressed" and very well done, cheese sticks were dry and draft beer was flat. Service was terrible-inattentive and eating at the station-licking their fingers and serving me. First time I didn't finish a cheeseburger! Will pick another place next time. read more

One of my favorite places to eat in the Valley. Reliable quality and good food within a reasonable amount of time. I always order the Mango Tilapia. The place can get a bit loud, especially in the main room with fans. Nice aquarium. read more

I went to this restaurant and ordered grilled chicken dinner and the chicken was so hard I could barely get a fork in it. I sent the food back and did not reorder. The manager did not acknowledge that I received this meal that was over cooked. He did not stop by the table to apologize. I got no response from the manager. I'm sitting here at this restaurant writing this review. Why? Because my family and I have been waiting for our food for about 45 min. We waited for our waitress' initial visit to our table for 10 min before that. This is not the first time the wait has been really lengthy...this was dinner, the time before was lunch. I met up with friends and family there for my B-Day, and was entertained more than impressed. First the good news, my mom's ribs were great. Now the rest... The server had very little knowledge of the menu, and basics. I ordered a martini, and got a long island. Which I drank and paid for, no problem. Then I asked some questions about the steaks, and got a blank stare. I ended up with a decent steak, but not what I wanted. The food on a whole was your TGI Friday's/Applebee's fare. Now for the fun part... I finally got my martini, and had a second. On the order for a third, I was told that corporate policy was a 5 drink max, and cut me off. (The math is 1 drink I didn't want + 2 drinks I ordered = 3 drinks.) I was the only person drinking, and haven't driven a car in 10 years, I was not planning to start tonight. Which I wasn't going to argue with because at that point I just wanted to get out and find some professionals. Then this crazy manager comes over to overly apologize for a situation that was already over, and then tell stories about her 7 chihuahua's, and give me free cake to go. The only thing she needed to complete her circus act would have been if she was juggling the 7 chihuahua's while riding a unicycle up to the table.Talk about overkill! That's when I realized that I was cut off because they wanted to close and go home. From my point of view, the server did the best she could do with the tools she was given.
