Salt and Pepper with BBQ sauce on it from prior customers (we wiped off the top)
    Cory S.

My friends and I were looking for some food to grab for an early dinner near where we were staying, and we came across a Cheddar's Scratch Kitchen. Having never actually gone to one but having seen them at home previously, we thought we'd give it a try, especially with attractive dishes and good prices. We stopped by around 5 PM for an early dinner on a Monday evening. The service itself was very good as was the food, though the cleanliness of the restaurant, the seating area, the silverware, and condiments (including salt and pepper) were abysmal. I would have rated the service and food at 4 but the cleanliness at a 1; I gave an average rating of 3. While I can see some of what we experienced being a reason to walk away, we didn't notice have of this until after we ordered food, and again, the service and food itself were very good. We had no wait to be seated nor did we need a reservation. There is a waitlist feature on their website (https://www.cheddars.com/wait-list). Our server was very helpful and checked on us regularly. Early after we ordered food, a plate of complimentary buttered croissants arrived which were delicious! I think that may have been the highlight of my meal. As the food is marketed as "homestyle comfort food," I decided to order the top sirloin steak (8 oz) with two side choices. I chose broccoli for one side and paid for the second side to be upgraded to a side Caesar salad. The broccoli was well-seasoned, the steak was juicy and tasty, and the salad was as good as any side Caesar. Did I mention I loved the buttered croissants!? We unfortunately had one cleanliness issue after another. There was a dirty fork until my seat. The salt and pepper shakers were covered with barbecue sauce (which we wiped off the tops) but we didn't bother cleaning the sides. We were given clean silverware wrapped in a napkin but one of our silverware sets had crusty dirt leftover from other diners. We asked for a replacement of that. We get that these things happen but this seemed like a consistent issue at this restaurant. You can join the Cheddar's eClub for member-only offers, scratch cooking tips, and more by going to https://www.cheddars.com/customer-service/join-eclub. Just for signing up, you'll also receive free chips and homemade queso. You also receive a special birthday treat on your birthday. All in all, the prices are great, the food is great, the promotions are good, and the service is good. But I may think twice before dining at this location due to the cleanliness issues we experienced.

    Chicken pot pie and coleslaw

Temperatures are dropping so decided to go for a chicken pot pie. The server was very friendly and attentive. Food came out quickly. I ordered coleslaw for my side to accompany my chicken pot pie. Normally the chicken pot pie is very good but today was not that day. Not sure what happened but it wasn't as good as it usually is. Have been coming here for years. Normally great food but. Might've just been an off day.

Very obviously one of my favorite restaurants in this area. We come here often for lunch and dinner and the service is always good and fast. The only thing I wish they could improve is there there have been a few times when they are out of certain foods/ side dishes. Other than that, I really enjoying eating here!

I guess they NEVER clean the tables, we were sitting for 21 minutes. The food was good, but the WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE....
    Maria S.

WORST customer service. Sat for 21 minutes until we got tired of waiting so we had to call a manager. The edge of the table was so dirty FULLLLLLL of crumbs.

    Cheese & Bacon French Fries

Poor service food came out wrong burger still raw and fries was cold and so was the Queso. Server never attend to us either waited over 30 to 40 minutes for food that's shouldn't have took long order a Maui margarita server said only rocks and then on top of that my drink took 30 minutes as well to bring it to me and her bar top wasn't busy I've worked 7+ years in the food industry as a server n bartender and never gave anyone poor service like this never again to return then found something in my burger and have no idea what it is never got refills as well never gave us her name either !!!! Horrible service ever I even set a timer and timed our service

Chicken Tender Platter (No. 8 Special)

Came here around 4 pm with a group of three and was seated immediately. They were very accommodating consider in we wanted a table for my friends grandmother. The service was quick and the portion size of the food was surprisingly big. I got myself the New Orleans pasta and the other two people I was with got the chicken tenders platter. Our food was either plain or very salty, but it could just be an off day. I would come back if I were in town again.

The location of this cheddar did not disappoint. The staff was friendly and well-mannered. All of the food was served fresh and promptly. The burger I ordered was juicy and delicious.

Highlight was the carrot cake. It was delicious. Really satisfied my sweet tooth. Big enough to share. It was awesome. Will definitely come back to try another desert.

I was greeted by a cockroach in my meal. I asked for a manager who did what he could. I can promise that I will never come here again.

I didn't need extra fat from avocado after the corn cakes since it doesn't add much flavor to the dish. The corn cakes are good and I will order again but not as good as some other cornbread. It came with 2 cakes. One was undercooked and one has a crispy crust. The undercooked one was my favorite. It is more moist with soft in the middle. Tuna Al Pastor has a kick but nothing special. Tres Leches was beautiful. 4/5. I like the fresh fruits to cut down the sweetness. The cake was a bit in the dense side. The icing on top was thick. I wish it was a fluffy whip cream to cut down from all the sweetness. Overall it's still a better tres leches than other places in the area.

It was probably our most favorite place that we ate while in San Antonio. The ambiance was great, beautifully decorated restaurant with great service. The cocktails were delicious so we had a few. The cabbage was somewhat spicy, the cornbread muffin was a half muffin, the muffin did not fill up the cupcake muffin wrapper. But the fried catfish, fried chicken wings and yams were on point, I would order the catfish and chicken wing plate to go anyday! The peach cobbler was very sweet. My daughter ordered meatloaf, a pork chop plate, Mac & cheese, collard greens, cornbread muffin, a tropical punch beverage and banana pudding which I felt the pudding was watered down vs. being thick. She asked for medium cooked pork chops and one pork chop was medium and one pork chop was over cooked. She notified the cashier and he stated they both were cooked at temp the same time. The collard greens were spicy and the Mac & cheese were watered down. I had to go to the restroom. This was the worst restroom in any restaurant I have ever used. First, there was no light on, I had to ask for light and one of the employees turned on the light. Secondly, there was an awful hole in the top right corner ceiling, I was afraid to use the restroom for fear of some bug crawling in through the ceiling hole. Third, there was also a hole in the wall visible behind the toilet tank top, again I was afraid to set down on the toilet and the whole bathroom decor was unappealing. When other patrons described this establishment as as "HOLE IN THE WALL" they were absolutely correct. Don't forget about the hole in the ceiling! Entering into the building, the walls and ceiling were black, making the atmosphere sad. There was also a small bar to the left of the dining area. But the kicker for me was, our two meals, two beverages, and two desserts cost $61!!! As many Soul Food Restaurant I have eaten in with my daughter for two people, I have never been charged so much for two soulfood meals with two beverages and two desserts. RECOMMEDATION: Of course my palate is different from other customers, but I would never return to the establishment due to being over charged for two meals, two beverages, two desserts and the lady's restroom was the pits.

I know him from a couple of shows I attended at Southtown 101 a couple of years ago. This is weird. A bunch of people were there, mostly families with young children. It is advertised as family karaoke. The bar has a sign stating that there are no minors after 9pm allowed. The families all seem to know each other. It is almost cult-like. A lot of the kids sang and it was cute. By 9:15pm, all the kids and their families were gone. About six of our adults were left. Mondo bizarro. I got to sing four songs so I'm not complaining. I did remark to one of the remaining adults that this was cult-like. He said yes, an Alamo Heights cult. Ahhhh... Creepy, but fun. My Pacificos were $7 each, a Coke was $2.77. Food truck food is offered. Lots of choices for nibbles. Give them a try.
