I'm familiar with Cheddars since my hometown, Beaumont, got one years ago. I don't usually eat at chains (not that this is a HUGE chain) but I do like Cheddars for its price and decent food. My favorite item is the Chicken Caesar Pasta Salad. The mix of the salad and pasta is perfecto! The honey buttered croissant is the best part of the meal! Skip the piece of cake, eat a croissant. Mmmm. Most of the items I've tried here are good. Servings are plentiful and the price is right! Most dishes are around $8, with $15 on the high end. Wait time can be long so be prepared!! I've always been able to get a table at 11:20 a.m. but come at 11:40 a.m. and the lunch-time craziness is in full effect. read more

Ordered takeout with the family pack of chicken tenders, loaded mashed potatoes, red beans and rice. The order came out to the car early, hot and the order was correctly put together. The chicken tenders were huge and the honey hot sauce was spot on. Mashed potatoes had plenty of large bacon pieces and real cheese, red beans and rice had lots of sausage mixed in and spiced perfectly. Croissants are always delicious so that's expected. Worst 1st experience ever at this San Antonio local resturant chain! Very busy yes, was told at 520pm that a curbside order would not be ready until 600pm...it was NOT! Customer service fail, contacting management fail (no one asked why I was calling, was put on hold, no one answered in a reasonable time frame). No pics because never got past being "checked" in for the curbside pickup. The young man that took my call at 6pm for the promised pickup did not check me in!! which I was told after my wait of more than 25 minutes. No apology, no immediate corrective action...just "we'll bring your order out now" all credibility was gone! I got a call 15 minutes later as I was going into the grocery store, letting me know my Cheddars order was brought curbside but they couldnt find me! Really? Cheddars you can do better! I ordered the salmon and it was surprisingly really good! The portions of the sides are kind of small but that's an overall theme of cheddars. The store was extremely clean and the waitress very attentive to our needs. I recommend for a family meal, not too cheap but also not too expensive. read more

The food is great here; made from scratch, home cooking, comfort food. I decided on the Dijon Chicken with mushrooms and it was really good! The chicken was a tiny bit dry but the mushroom sauce made it more moist. It came on top of rice with two sides for under $10. A great deal for all the food you get. Saturday, Feb 27, 2016 about 8:00pm - The crossant's are to die for. The Mac & Cheese was ok, not too exciting, the shrimp was ok, fried too hard and the size was small. And the worst off all: THE SLIPPERY FLOORS! I am disable, walk with a cane and the floors were too slippery for me to use my cane. My cane was sliding all over the floors, which were dirty and quite slippery. The floors need to be cleaned before a customer falls down. I had to hold onto the wall when trying to get to my booth. I was a little hesitant based on reviews, however I have been #teamCheddars for awhile now...even though it has been a couple years since last visit. We were a party of eight and arrived around 6pm. We were seated right away! The greeters were very welcoming and polite. Within minutes our server came around the corner, greeted us, and introduced herself. Service: Let me tell you...Erica is AMAZING! She was attentive and checked on us regularly. Her timing was so perfect...no long periods nor quick random pop ins. When she checked on us, it was timely and she made sure we were taken care of. Food: Our food was great! Well portioned and flavorful. At one point, they came a silence upon our table...now you know when that happens, the food is good (or we were just really hungry)! Haha! The food was delicious! We ordered anywhere from the steak to the ribs to the seafood and grilled chicken...baked beans to mac/cheese to loaded bake potatoe to broccoli cheese casserole and of course golden fried fries for our sides. Food came out in a timely manner and everything was perfect temperature. Experience: Overall, we enjoyed our time. Prices, as always, remain reasonable. Cheddars has the best food and it's all made from scratch in the kitchen. I highly recommend their chicken alfredo and Kentucky fried chicken. And they also serve croissants with sweet butter on top as an appetizer so before you eat you get something sweet and savory. According to thedailymeal article Cheddars was the top overall American cuisine, top rated food, and top rated décor and facilities. It also won top honors from Consumer Reports and Nations Restaurant News. The best part is that you get a free pie on national pie day and free honey butter croissants every time you eat there. Which is better than Texas Roadhouse bread so it's worth paying for more. Cheddars also gave away free croissants and croissant inspired onesies to families with newborn babies. read more

Only thing is one of our plates came out wrong however the lady I think her name was Yessenia Torres not too sure she is who brought out the food took care of that plate for us because we just stayed with it so we wouldn't have to wait. Never thought I'd be giving Cheddar's 4 stars. The Cheddar's in Mobile, AL (now closed) was terrible. When my brother chose this place for his graduation dinner I was NOT happy. However I must say I was pleasantly surprised. Our server Eric was awesome! We had a party of 16 plus 2 babies. He was prompt and polite. The food was hot and actually good! I had the bourbon salmon and my mom had catfish and broccoli casserole. My niece had broccoli casserole and dang near licked the bowl! I didn't take many pics because I was starving. She even came back a few times to check. My four star is that for the server, for things that are free, just always max it out. DISCLAIMER: If I could give negative stars I would. Last time coming to this location! We were seated rather quickly since there were only 2 of us. Let me start off by saying THAT was the only good thing about our visit. It took about 5 staff members and 25 minutes to order drinks. Another 10 minutes pass and we receive napkins and menus. I asked for a manager, who arrived 5 minutes later, and let them know about the lack of service thus far. We are 40 minutes in at this point. Our server, who was not one of the 5 people who took our drink order, finally arrived to take our order. Food comes out and order is completely wrong. We did not order what we received and decided we should just leave as our movie time was approaching. We informed the server of the food error and asked to pay for the drinks we ordered, 2 beers and 2 margaritas, so we can go. She fought us trying to say we ordered this and she has it written down. I asked to see where she wrote it down, and looked through her book. She then notices that she never wrote our order down and gave us someone else's order. While this was clearly her error, she brought the bill and it still had the food on there. At this point we were late for the movie and it took another 15 minutes to get the bill sorted out. Cheddars has a wide array of options to choose from. I always stay with their strawberry tea. The tea is flavorful and comes with free refills. It has actual strawberries in it as well, and isn't overly sweet. They have a lot of combination plate options with steak or ribs. I usually get the ribs with Buffalo chicken tenders. Both are delicious! If you're more interested in just Buffalo chicken, they have wonderful chicken wraps. The broccoli cheese casserole is wonderful, and I get it each time. I would also recommend the croissants. They are extremely fluffy and covered in honey butter. I rarely get dessert because I'm so full by the end, but when I have I enjoyed both the hot fudge cake and the monster cookie. read more

We were promised a 20 minute wait, after waiting 35 and seeing several parties of our exact same size, who arrived after us, get seated, I inquired to our position and was promptly seated after they realized the mistake. The restaurant was exceedingly loud and the patrons near us demonstrated a penchant for pointless and inane profanity. After enduring 10 minutes since being seated without ever having seen a member of the waitstaff, and listening to a fellow patron whine out more uses of "S---" than could possibly be used in 60 sec while maintaining any semblance of cohesive thought or sentient behavior, we decided enough was enough and we walked straight out. I don't know much about the history of Cheddar's but I do know that they certainly seem to be steeped in it. I mean sitting down in this place was like walking through a revolving door and emerging in 1985. I kept looking for the "Doc" to come tell us we had to return to 2010 because something had to be done about our kids. Cheddar's seems to be an amorphous concept that you certainly couldn't categorize very easily except for maybe cheap. The drink menu showed a lot of exciting cocktails with premium liquors for prices you would expect to pay for well drinks elsewhere. The food menu seemed to be put together by a group of analysts who polled thousands of people to find out what they liked to eat. Chicken strips, grilled chicken, fried shrimp,chicken fried steak, bbq ribs, hamburgers, sandwiches, sirloin steak. This reminded me of a cafeteria style selection without the assembly line of plastic trays, rolled silverware and the ubiquitous quivering globs of blue jello. Our potato skins appetizer came awfully late and were tasty enough yet somehow remained uninspired like a dish you would expect to find prepared on the season premier of the Food Network's new hit show "Dormitory Chef". The three stars here are for the Monte Cristo alone which you don't find on many menus anymore. (Except those stuck in 1985). The battered French toast exterior dipped in the raspberry dipping sauce perfectly complimented the salty ham and creamy melting Swiss interior. A fine display of a lost sandwich. Of course you can still get a variation of the same at a local brasserie but they will relabel it a "Croque Monsieur" and charge you $16 for it. Like so many of the chain restaurants along this burgeoning 151/410 corridor, Cheddar's remains one of them. read more
