Both shots had unknown little specs floating around in them. My boyfriend ordered the grilled chicken Cesar salad and his chicken came out raw and rubbery. I ordered the Lemon chicken meal, everything over all was very salty and just not good whatsoever. We obviously weren't expecting a high class meal but this was just terrible. Came here for lunch. We went before noon to avoid the lunch rush--this place can get ridiculously packed! I ordered the Choose 3 lunch combo: double decker club, potato soup and house salad. The decent-sized salad comes with a buttery croissant. Yum! Their potato soup was fully loaded with bacon, good amount of cheese, and potato chunks in a creamy broth. SOOOOOOO DELISSHHHH!!! Our server was GREAT! But the food was cold, bacon was missing in our bacon cheeseburger, I asked for no onion and my burger came with onion. The fries from all of our plates came out COLD. I was holding off on writing this review but the food made me and my mom SICK. Something was wrong with their food and we're now suffering those consequences. Service was great, all kind and attentive people....this is not a review against them at all. If not for this 1 star. The food. Ordered a medium steak (don't judge me) and it came borderline rare and way over-seasoned. I am sure some would not mind this at all, but this is a far cry from medium and it was still tough. My daughter's came the same way. My "loaded" baked potato....I could count the cheese strands there were so few, the sour cream and bacon looked as though it was the leftover from the spoon they used to put the real amount on someone else's potato. With all the variety and great local food options in SA we usually prefer to support small business but when we do chose to go with a chain, Cheddar's is one of our top favorites. Not my first place I'd choose to eat, but the food is halfway decent and super cheap. But honestly, I'm just here for the margaritas and fried cheese. I haven't had a bad margarita yet and the swirl is delicious. The fried Wisconsin cheese is like crack. I swear I can eat an order all to myself. If I get extra greedy, I'll order some croissants then regret everything I ate when I get home. If you expect high end food, you're at the wrong place. Trustworthy awesome people work here. I left my AirPods Pro there on the table and didnt notice for 6 hours. My name isnt engraved so these are easy to steal and cost $250. I called to let them know and they had recovered them and Aaron Savoie assured me they were in their safe and I could get them anytime. He wouldn't let me give him money for recovering them, which I would've been fine with. But I understand. When I ate there, I was very picky with the menu and the waiter did not give me a hard time or anything. Total class act. The change has not been good!! I have eaten in 3 different restaurants in the Houston Area and one in San Antonio Area and they were consistently serving bad quality food since the change. From over cooked steak, pure fatty ribs to a burger which was re-served. I know it was re-served because it was brought to my table with a bit out if one side. The server was not even concerned because she sat the burger on the table and walked away. SMH Please bring back the Old Cheddar. Before you consider dining here...don't. Received 0 service and plenty of excuses here today. Walked in and we were sat promptly only to be ignored for the next 10 minutes. Watched tables all around us be sat and tended to yet no one came to our table. I finally got up and asked for a manger who took her own sweet time to appear. They're croissants are a must. Very fluffy and sweet. I got steak with fries and corn. The corn wasn't good. It just tasted like canned corn which was really disappointing. Steak was made well though and made medium rare as ordered. Onion rings are huge. But very lightly breaded. I prefer mines at least coated where I don't see the onions. So onion rings were ok. A tropical and smooth pina colada type drink. I ordered the chicken tenders dinner with Mac and Cheese and fries. The Mac and Cheese was not good. Lacked flavor. The chicken tenders tasted slightly off but OK for the most part. This was my second time getting the chicken tenders and I did so knowing my first experience was below average. Why don't I ever learn? My colleague got the green beans as one of his sides and he wasn't satisfied with that either. Lastly, the server highlighted the gratuity guide at the bottom of the receipt. Needed more cheese and my wife didn't like it because of bbq sauce. Then I ordered a grilled chicken salad with pecans . My appetizer came with my meal. I asked him to just take it back then. Later another waiter brought back my appetizer told me they would take it off my bill and said the food came out fast. Truth was other people entered the restaurant after me and got their appetizers before me. It's a little louder but not quite a sports bar and perfect for that night that no one wants to cook and everyone wants comfort food. I've eaten at this location several times, and I have had varied experiences. It's hit or miss when it comes to food quality and to service quality as well, but I'm wiping the slate clean to write this review today. When I eat out with my folks, they like the security of chain restaurants--they know what they're getting. It might be heated up in high-powered microwaves, but it's standardized and "safe"--no surprises. This is not my favorite way to dine, but I love my parents and I love sharing a meal with them, so I try to find "variations on the theme" and go beyond the usual places that I file under the category of "We're in a rut and we don't know what else to do! Send help!" When Cheddar's Scratch Kitchen appeared on the San Antonio scene a few years back, I got excited. Chain restaurant? Check! Safe-looking menu? Check! Suburban decor? Check! Even with all these checks, my parents were still hesitant. "Cajun style? You know I don't like spicy, Mariam!" This was Dad's reaction. Mom's was just the scrunched-up-nose face that she's famous for. Eventually, though, everyone was (reluctantly) on board! The bait that hooked them? Chicken Pot Pie--you can always count on the "over 55" crowd to go bonkers for soupy foods with carby crusts. When they finally tried it, they fell as hard for the pie as Elvis fell for peanut butter and bacon. On a whim, we decided to grab "some a dat" pot pie action for them and a club sandwich for me. Of course, you can't go to Cheddar's and overcome the bewitching appetizers that every table around you orders. Today, we were sunk the second a huge platter of high-stack onion rings passed by. I couldn't see them, but the flavor fingers that curled up into my nostrils and yanked my brain out rendered me stupid. We ordered our own platter. And while the subtle spice that brings the slight element of heat seemed to be missing from the batter, the rings were still as kick-butt as usual: crispy, fried, shimmering, and delicious. The pot pie was on point today--piping hot with a perfectly golden-browned pastry crust and bubbling veggies with huge chunks of chicken lying right underneath. This was brought out after the rings and after the huge "side salad" served with a warm, flaky, "SHUT YOUR FACE" honey-buttered croissant. Dad opted for the thick, creamy, steaming-hot potato soup. (It comes with bacon and that eclipses any other choice of side when you're Dad.) I was in the mood to try something new, so I strayed from my usual crispy-fried chicken tenders and chose the Cheddar's Club that was piled high with turkey, ham, bacon, cheese and more cheese and more cheese and then some more cheese. ;) I got through a quarter of it. That's all I could handle. It was that big and that filling. Of course I still had room to nibble on the perfectly executed fries. This is where I have to say, the texture of these fries is so awesome and just BEGGING for seasoning, but there was no seasoning to be had. I highly urge Cheddar's Corporate to reconsider this. Put some o' dat Cajun spice up in there! WE, THE MASSES, ARE CLAMORING FOR IT! And by "masses," I mean me. ME! Busting at the seams, we went for it and ordered--yes, we really did--the Cheddar's Painkiller Mini Cake--a small coconut bundt "filled with Pusser's Rum-butter sauce and topped with whipped cream, freshly toasted coconut, and a cherry." One bite and I slowly sank into some sort of half-comatose state where I quietly mouthed the words, "Dead. I died. I'm dead. I can't live after this. This is the top. This is it." Oh my gosh, what an experience! And I have so many questions. In a time and place where restaurants--especially chains--are falling over themselves to serve the biggest, most complicated, ridiculous dishes, why did Cheddar's feel the need to go small and almost whisper-like? MIND BLOWN. Butter and coconut and rum--classic, warm, baffling. If you're like me and trying to find a way to break bread with a different generation, I highly recommend looking for a place outside of the regular chain restaurant rotation. Cheddar's is a happy medium and everyone can enjoy something from the menu. At the end, you can all partake in a community dessert where you meet at the cherry! read more

I had never been and because of the name, of course I expected scratch-made food. I was wrong. Just because you butter a bean or mash a potato, doesn't designate you a "scratch kitchen." I ordered the ribs and, what I soon realized, the frozen-then fried chicken tenders. Nothing special, in fact, it was a missed reached for mediocrity. My husband loved his ribeye -- good for him, since he had to send it back the 1st time due to it being overcooked and dressed in a blonde hair. The croissants were room temp, so the butter was sitting on top, unmoved. The service was good but the hostess was funky (attitude), which was unnecessary since there were 3 other hostesses there that could've indulged in my inquiries. I ordered a painkiller (drink), worst I've ever had. Watered down and the caramel tasted like it was going bad, sour taste. I left it after attempting to drink it. I couldn't taste the pineapple juice or coconut. Once I paid, a good amount of money with tip, about $80, the manager, I'm assuming, comes over and says, wish you had let me know, before you paid. I'm very disappointed in my most recent visit to Cheddar's. I've been coming here regularly for a couple of months. I ordered the blackened salmon salad. Typically this salad comes with fresh greens, tomatoes, carrots, Parmesan cheese, glazed pecans, homemade croutons. Im not sure if there was a new person in the kitchen or if they just didn't care, but I received a salad with lettuce, tomatoes and carrots. That's it! Unfortunately I didn't realize this until I made my way back to my hotel (which was 18 mins away). I called to let them know I would be coming back for the correct order. So in addition to having to waste my gas and time, I got no apology, no discount...nothing. Very disappointed. Two stars only bc the salad was good the second time around. read more

We Ordered our food to go. The green haired waitress didn't seem to friendly but while we waited my wife saw another waitress come out of the bathroom wearing her apron with straws in her apron. EWE!! I grabbed our order and got in the car only to find that they didn't apply our coupon to the total and then when we got home, I was missing a side order (mashed potatoes) to my meal. I've been to this Cheddars multiple times and each time has been a-okay. The food isn't the best I've had, but they have generous portions and you definitely can't beat the price. I've had the chicken pot pie, ribs and shrimp, and sweet heat chicken, and all have been tasty. My boyfriend likes the buffalo chicken wrapper, and steak and tenders. Other areas of improvement are overall cleanliness and service (hit or miss), but you as I said earlier, you definitely can't beat the price! read more

I love this place (all Cheddar's) mainly for their onion rings, but they always have great service no matter what location you are at and HEARTY portions. Hearty meaning you will have leftovers most likely. I ordered the Monte Cristo for lunch, should have done the half special because I could literally only eat one-quarter of the sandwich. Ordered takeout with the family pack of chicken tenders, loaded mashed potatoes, red beans and rice. The order came out to the car early, hot and the order was correctly put together. The chicken tenders were huge and the honey hot sauce was spot on. Mashed potatoes had plenty of large bacon pieces and real cheese, red beans and rice had lots of sausage mixed in and spiced perfectly. Croissants are always delicious so that's expected. Worst 1st experience ever at this San Antonio local resturant chain! Very busy yes, was told at 520pm that a curbside order would not be ready until 600pm...it was NOT! Customer service fail, contacting management fail (no one asked why I was calling, was put on hold, no one answered in a reasonable time frame). No pics because never got past being "checked" in for the curbside pickup. The young man that took my call at 6pm for the promised pickup did not check me in!! which I was told after my wait of more than 25 minutes. No apology, no immediate corrective action...just "we'll bring your order out now" all credibility was gone! I got a call 15 minutes later as I was going into the grocery store, letting me know my Cheddars order was brought curbside but they couldnt find me! Really? Cheddars you can do better!
