We went in today for lunch. Restaurant was very cold for a place you have to sit and eat. My husband told them it was very cold in hopes this would effect our seating. Nope they placed us under the blowing vents .... Not one but 3 in a row. We then ordered lunch. It came out in a timely manner but came with a large black hair on top of the bun. I sent it back and cancelled my order. The chef offered to fix me something else but just could not do it after seeing what I did. He did offer to give us 4 free lunches our next visit. I was trying to call ahead for a large party of 35 people. I was put on hold three times for a total of 21 minutes. I even asked for the manager and was still forgotten. I have never experienced such poor customer service. Good luck to the rest of San Antonio- this Cheddars cannot accommodate large entities of people. Glorified Applebees/Chili's. On the plus side the drinks and food are cheap. On the downside the drinks and food taste cheap. It will be the one and only trip to a Cheddar's. I am sure people like it and I may have like it in my young 20's; but it is not a place for a foodie. read more

What happened to Cheddar's????? My wife and I used to go to Cheddars a lot when we lived in College Station, TX. We have a Cheddar's in Houston and then, of course, we ventured to the one in San Antonio, TX and the result was the same, not worth it and not tasting too good. Service was good though. I can say with certainty, Cheddar's has gone downhill. The food is bland, tastes microwaved, and the portions have shrunk like an old man in a cold pool. There are other places at the same cost level, I would suggest going there, I am sad to say. read more

Why does anyone go here? Every time I drive past it the parking lot is full, so decided to try it. I waited 20 minutes for a table. Nobody waited on me until I searched out a waiter. This place has gone downhill over the last few years. Service is increasingly slow - like 15 minutes after seating before a server comes to your table. Another 15 minutes before drinks get to the table. They seem to have enough staff, but they seem unorganized. They have also gotten the food order wrong for my wife, leaving me the choice of eating alone while the food is still warm, or letting my food get cold waiting for them to bring her correct order out. My family and I went to this establishment on Tuesday 11/22 for dinner. We had 8 of us and they said it would be about a 25 minute wait. We ended up waiting around 45 min to almost an hour before we we're given our seats. The lady takes over to a booth and I ask is there a mistake, I mean you're trying to tell me I waited an hour for a booth. My family and I couldn't all fit in it. The woman who took us to our seats asked me if I had actually asked for a table. I said no just for seating for 8-9 ppl. She smiled and left. My 3 friends and I came back to Cheddars after coming before and having really good drinks, steak and shrimp a few weeks back. Dan was the bartender on both occasions, seeming very flustered both times, even sprinting back and forth down the bar and to the kitchen. Me being pregnant this time, I got a lemonade while my other friends ordered drinks. Dan told us he remembered us from last time, however only let 1 of my friends order a drink, as one friend had a new, paper license since he had to renew his and my other friend didnt bring hers. Anyways, as we are leaving they chase after us outside and demand that we give them back the "alcoholic drink" we took. I had my lemonade to-go, but the manager insisted I give him my lemonade so I did. I will probably go back to cheddars for their drinks, but will NOT sit at the bar. read more

Ok do I've been to this Cheddar's 3 times with friend and each time I'm hoping that I don't have a bad experience but that has yet to happen. First I must say that the food is good otherwise I wouldn't go back ever again. Also the decor is nice. That's about all I like about this place. Each time that I have been the service has been terrible. The waiter is always forgetting things or just disappears. The first time I went the waiter was so fixated on my breast that he never looked at any of the other 4 people sitting at our table! Anyway I just got back from there today and I went to lunch with a girlfriend of mine and her 18 month old. When we first walked in there were 3 girls standing at the host stand and at first they looked at us like we shouldn't be there until we said, "3 please?" Once we were sitting at our table the waiter came over and when both of us just ordered water he stood there like he was waiting for us to order more to drink. We also ordered an order of the honey croissants. Sitting at the booth behind us where 3 employees that I assume were on break. The wait staff was spent most of their time talking to them and not even paying attention to the customers. Next thing I know at the booth across from us a little old lady spilled her water. I immediately jumped up to help clean it up with my own napkin while the wait staff completely ignored it!!! I turned to one of the 5 employees just standing there talking and told her she needed to go get some napkins or something. I can't believe they would be so inconsiderate. Since our salads came with a honey croissant our waiter took it upon himself to not bring us the other ones we ordered cause I guess he figured the ones on the salads were enough. We had a kid with us!! So it should have been obvious why just our 2 were not enough. It took 2 more times asking him to bring them and some more napkins before we actually got them. Incredibly disappointing. We went on Christmas Eve and it was a disaster. It was not crowded and we were placed into a section with no waiter or waitress. Service was atrocious. Nobody would ever check on us and we had younger kids with us. The chicken was as dry as it gets and the rice was literally floating in some shrimp juice. Couldn't even eat it. I had the worst service in this location at cheddars on I-10 close to UTSA blvd !!! They were taking forever for my family to get a table of 5!! While they were calling other families for table of 6-8 knowing that my family was there first before the other people got seated !! My brother walk around the restaurant and they had 4 tables Empty. We talk to the manager and he had nothing to say because he couldn't have an explanation. You can tell he wasn't trained well to be a manger and the hostess seem like they didn't care. Love this place! We had been past it many times. But it's so far off the highway, we didn't see it. Nephew brought us here for dinner one weekend and it was great! I fell in love with the Monte Crisco sandwich. It reminded of a sandwich that a restaurant called, Bennigan's used to have in Chicago. Theirs was good; mostly bread though, so I would just eat the middle where the meat was. But Cheddars was meat through and through and the bread was delicioso! Mom got the fish dinner which was seasoned to perfection. Veggies were good, too. Drinks are awesome! I had my Long Island to drink. I had a great time at here. Our waitress was awesome and joked with us and was very patient. Food is made from scratch so they ran out of ribs a few hours before closing which is fine at least you know everything is fresh. The steak was cooked to perfection. The potato skins are wonderful and the croissants were light, airy, buttery, flakey, etc they were exceptional. The setting is romantic casual.
