We went there to watch a Texas football game on a Saturday afternoon. TV setup for game watching is really good. We were originally going to watch the game at Twin Peaks but didn't want to wait an hour for a seat. Lucy Cooper's wasn't crowded at all at 3pm. There was music playing when we got there but the manager on duty offered to put the game sound on without me even having to ask, which I appreciated. The menu...so many great options to choose from! We had the pretzels and queso which I thought was outstanding. Warm, soft pretzel with just the right amount of salt. So many delicious drink options. I had the Smoky Sunrise mezcal drink and it was amazing. The table next to us for the nachos in a can that also looked delicious. Not sure what's it's called currently, but just a heads up...the fried pickles tasted like the grease hasn't been change since Halloween of 2024. Side note: the bar/pub tables are not bolted down, I walked away and pushed myself from the table and it almost fell completely over. If I was OSHA, I would have given them a violation of not having the tables bolted down. Because of this they questioned my ability to have another drink. lol. So it was our first time and I had the shrimp boil and it was decent, needed more flavor but not bad. Hubby had pizza no complaints. My strawberry margaritas on the rocks was good but my husband said his michelada was the worst he's ever had. My waiter seemed a little odd, he took forever to bring my drinks out and they sat at the bar for like 8 min and he only had 2 tables. I really didn't like his service he seemed distracted or something... Stopped in to check it out. Way better than the last place. Only issue was the margaritas are the size of a shot. Would be good if they got a house frozen Margarita machine with actual margarita sizes, maybe even make some Coronaritas. Bartenders were great but they forgot us and we spent a long time waiting. The beers were sizable and they had other specialty cocktails that were a decent size. Try that next time. Like what they did outside. It's a legit bar now with a lil stage. We thought we would give Coopers a try. When we got there we realized it's no longer Lucy Coopers but now just Coopers. There wasn't too many people there eating but we thought we will give it a try. We ordered a pepperoni pizza and some wings. You only get eight wings per order, but they let you choose two flavors. The food came out really fast surprisingly fast. The wings were good. They come with a large portion of french fries as well. The pizza on the other hand was undercooked and gross. It tasted like a frozen pizza You could get at H-E-B. They do serve Coke products which was a plus if we go back definitely would try something different. I would never recommend the pizza. read more

I looked for a seat inside but there was none, so we opted for the patio. They have mist fans blowing so it wasn't horrible but it was hot. At 8:20 not one waitress had greeted us or told us to leave. Either would've sufficed, but 3 other people were greeted within this 30 min window. I go inside and find a table. They wiped it down pretty quickly and brought us menus. We finally ordered at 8:40...50 mins after arriving. Food was meh. Underwhelming. Why are the tin can nachos on the menu and what show did they get aired on because NO?!?! They are very soggy and have minimal toppings coming out the can. The flavor was good but I can only eat 1 mushy nacho. I think they keep them in the back tinned up bc how else would they immediately be mushy. Pass! Pickles were 3/5. Service was adequate a little slow but probably just because they are new. Lemon Pepper wings were good but the Big Kahuna burger my wife had was not the best. Bread was soggy and you could barely taste the pineapple ring and the ham was more like spam. The Boodreaux's Punch (alcohol drink) was delicious. They don't have Daiquiri's available but there are a few slushy drinks on the menu. During busy hours I can see there being parking issues. Plenty of seating available indoor and outdoor. This was our first visit to the 151 Location of Lucy Cooper's. We have been to the other location on 281 and love the shrimp boil. This visit was no different, our food was wonderful and such a good deal at half price on Friday. We added fried Okra that was also cooked perfectly. I ordered a mixed drink and there was way too much ice for a 13$ drink so next time I'll stick with drafts. I got back home today after a camping trip. I was really hungry and complained about it to my wife. Nothing in the house was of interest to me. I can actually hear my late mother's voice saying, "If you don't see anything to eat, you must not really be hungry." Normally, I would agree, but not today. My wife suggested that we go for an early dinner. I headed to the shower and got ready. When I came back, she suggested Lucy Cooper's. I went to the internet to check it out, but there was some difficulty finding information for this new location. I went ahead and checked out the menu that was on the website. I saw enough awesome items to know I wanted to head over. Getting there was a major chore. iPhone maps doesn't have this location. I had to put the address in. That worked fine, but the Siri directions for getting from Culebra Road to 151 were more than a little confusing. We ended up making a loop and trying another approach. Well, it was worth the effort to find. It won't be a problem next time, since we now know the exact location. It would have been easy this time, had I checked the map before the drive. The first thing I noticed was the sign saying this is a 21 and older place. I have nothing against dining with families full of kids, but I am totally ready to embrace a place for grownups! This place has a very nice party vibe. I don't know what age group they are looking for, but it was filled with people from a mixture of age groups from young adult to middle aged to old like me. I am not sure my retired teachers group would like it. They would say it is too loud for one thing. As long as I can communicate with servers and converse with my wife, the louder music doesn't bother me. I noticed that they have a television over the bar that shows the current song with lyrics and, I think, some video of the singers. There is a large outside area and they have huge open garage like doors that sort of bring the outside in. Today, that was no issue, but on hotter days later in the summer I would hope they are closed. If not, I will sit farther inside away from the doors. Okay... enough about the place. Let's talk food. I had the Nashville South Chicken Sammich. The menu describes it as "Buttermilk fried chicken thigh tossed in Nashville South, Yee haw kim-chee, Honey drizzle, Bread n butter pickles, & Ho'made pimento cheese all on TX toast". It was simply amazing. The chicken was so sweet and crispy that I would have loved to eat a pile of it. The meat inside was juicy. With all the fixings, it really throws a party in your mouth. Although they have several other side choices for a moderate price increase, I opted for the plain french fries. They were really good. They were not crispy and had a sweetness in the seasoning that was addicting. My wife chose something that was not on the online menu. It was a huge plate of french fries buried under a mound of pot roast and gravy. She said the meat was pulled in threads just like she likes it. It really looked and smelled good to me. The owner of this location (and maybe all of them) came to our table to clear our dishes, even though we had just finished and there hadn't been time for our server to do it. While she was doing it, she asked us what we thought of the food. I didn't realize at the time that she was the owner, so I told her what I thought of it. I mentioned that I had picked my meal at home and that the meal was exactly as described on the menu. She was happy to hear that. That was when she revealed that she was the owner and had written the descriptions herself, among other things. Anyway, she was super welcoming, super sweet, and I wish her all the best with this wonderful restaurant. I know that I will be back to try out other things on the menu. There are so many "diet be damned" appetizers, pizzas, chicken tenders, burgers, sandwiches, etc. to ever let you get bored here. All of it sounds "rib-stickin'". The signs they have outside this place are hilarious! Right away we knew we were in for a treat. It took a bit to get greeted since there were only two servers but once we did Briana was very sweet and attentive. I ordered a burger and added bacon bc I was very intrigued by the appetizer "Clothesline Bacon" yet when I got my burger there was no bacon :( ! We also ordered the Can Nachos which have a very unique way to be served MUST TRY! Happy hour specials and hours are also great! With an extensive variety of drinks and draft beers. As far as the ambiance there are high / low tables, a long bar, outside seating and a stage. We will definitely have to come back and see what happens on that stage! read more

We decided to try the new location on Hwy 151 because we really like this other location on US-281. The food and atmosphere is exactly the same. Waitresses are a little more attentive because it is a much smaller location but nevertheless it was worth it. I was excited to see another business pop up in my side of town. I've been to the original location and liked it. We went on a Friday around 6:30 PM. It was busy. It is a sit yourself kind of establishment. A waitress eventually will come to your table. They did take longer than I would have liked for a waitress to come see us. It may just be easier for them to get you to order at the bar. They had their margaritas on special that day. They are smaller than the typical size when they are on special. They were four dollars. I didn't like the margarita. You can definitely taste the mixer. We started it off with fried pickles. Delicious. I had the southern fish and chips. The pieces of fish were humongous. Definitely a shareable plate. I enjoyed every bit of it. Lucy Cooper's is more of a bar type of establishment. Go there to have some fun with your friends. No children allowed. The wings were delicious as well as the BLT. The wait staff was very friendly, kind, and assertive to assisting and getting you what you asked. Recently found that their 21+ sign is an absolute and is not family friendly! Went for an office gathering of lunch and one of our coworkers had his daughter with him. He was stopped at the door and informed of the policy and asked to leave. Our table was one of two tables seated during the lunch hour and we had already waited approx. 20 minutes when this had happened and my suggestion was to leave but my ride didn't want to leave. This is the first time I have ever heard of a business who sells both food and cocktails hold up to a policy typically held as a bar only. Service was ok, food took over 30 minutes to arrive even with only 5 at our table and two at the other. I don't have plans to ever spend my money in this place or recommend to anyone for a family gathering, especially if that family has under 21 year old's!!! read more
