I've been to Cheddar's a few times and always thought it was average, sort of like an Applebees or Chilis. The food is average, not terrible but nothing to write home about. On my most recent trip I had their Hawaiian chicken sandwich and ordered red beans and rice as my side dish. The sandwich was decent, but the red beans and rice tasted like a ton of salt was dumped on them. Queso was average, salsa not so hot. All in all not a extremely average. read more

I have eaten at this location two times in the last month. Both times the waitstaff was friendly and we were seated quickly. Other than that, not much else good to say. It takes forever to get your food, its noisy, there are always loud obnoxious people at the bar that you can hear across the whole restaurant, and the last time I was there my husband got food poisoning! I've been to multiple Cheddars locations around Texas and being from San Angelo I can say that this location is by far the worst. Multiple visits I have had to eat a cold meal with a empty drink. Not only are the servers not attentive to their tables, but the managers are no where to be seen and take around 10 minutes if your ask to speak to them. Overall, very subpar food and bad service. Great if Chili's has too exotic for you. The food is pulled from its box and heated and the staff is a bunch of Red Lobster's rejects and castoffs. They are always stocked on toothpicks though. read more

Cheddars is cheap food that is relatively tasty. I had the grilled catfish which was great but a little cold. In all fairness there were 10 people in my party, but cold food is never acceptable in my book. Other members of my party complained of similiar issues. Grilled cheese that wasn't melted all the way, and it looked like craft cheese at that. When your name is Cheddars you'd at least think they'd have their cheeses good to go. The service was good up until we had to pay our bill. It was all separate but it took 40 minutes for us to get everyone paid for. It was a bad end to an otherwise medicore dining experience. I've been here a few times and each time the food is really good, the dining room is clean, the service is professional and friendly. I also like their drink menu; they have a nice selection of creative concoctions. Also they are pretty good about keeping your glass full. Cara and Chris are two people that give great service here. The food comes out hot too! The sweet tea is good here; it's sweet but not too sweet. Some of my recommendations for food is their grilled chicken/shrimp that comes with rice and salad, and the ribs are good too. For dessert, you have got to try the chocolate chip cookie with ice cream. It's worth the extra 10min or so, that it takes to be prepared. read more

On 07/14/2021 my family (party of 5) and I went to Cheddars to eat around 7:30 pm on Knickerbocker Road in San Angelo, Texas. It was a relaxing atmosphere to walk into. We were greeted immediately upon walking in to the restaurant by the hostess. After we were seated, almost immediately our waiter Isaiah greeted us even though the restaurant was very busy. This was our first time eating at Cheddars. My entire family was so impressed with the professionalism that our waiter Isaiah displayed. Isaiah gave the best, friendliest and most fastest service I have ever had. He made us feel as if we were the only table he had to take care of. Service like that is rare and I can honestly say we will be returning to Cheddars every time we come to town. The food was delicious but the waiter made the experience delightful. Cheddars you need to recognize this waiter (I don't know his last name) for going above and beyond his required duties. I am a retired supervisor and I don't write review like this very often but I believe praise is due when earned. read more

Cheddar's used to be my favorite place to eat here in San Angelo, but lately it has just gone downhill. The service has always been pretty good, but it is the food that has suffered. The last time we went there, I got the grilled fish tacos, which are amazing. The slaw they put on top is delish. My husband ordered a pot pie, and it was very disappointing. The filling was bland and cold, very thick and gross. The prices are pretty cheap. We will return, but probably will never order the pot pie again. read more

I had a horrible experience at Cheddars today with my 3 1/2 year old. I'll preface this review by saying they were busy, and I was prepared to wait for a table and even wait for our food, that's not the issue. It took 30 minutes to receive our chips, salsa and queso (both half full) after reminding the waitress. My sons Mac and cheese wasn't hot, and seemed reheated rather than freshly made. My Baja chicken was raw, y'all. Gordon Ramsey would have had a field day. When I addressed the issue with the waitress she halfheartedly took it back and disappeared for 20 minutes. I should have left, I know that now, but my toddler was scarfing down the chips and queso and I was trying to be patient. When I finally saw the waitress she said it was almost ready (still waited longer) and I had her box it up. The manager came by and said he would take care of the chicken on the bill and instead took the chips and queso off. I was in shock and furious and instead of making a fuss in front of my kid I paid and left. I tipped the waitress a normal amount and told her our experience had been awful. I get it's a chain restaurant but cmon, when we left we had almost been there for two hours... two hours of waiting with a toddler and maybe 10 minutes of eating. read more

It's always been a hit AND miss when we eat here and this time it was no different. The table where we were seated first had food chunks on the floor and had a dirty table top, we asked to be moved to another table. No big deal. Our waiter was nice but would forget when we asked for drinks or dressing. Food was great this time. We were seated fairly quickly for a Friday night. After a full day on the road we were all ready to unwind and have a nice meal. We watched as table after table nearby were seated after we have our order and served their meals before us. We were two adults and four kids, one kid only ordered French fries, the others kid sized meals. The kitchen manager came out, trying to sound nice but in reality tried to tell us it only took 18 minutes to bring us our meal. Then the skimpy plate of fries he brought our son was pitiful, he brought out our daughters' plate of fries and said he put extra out so we didn't think they were trying to skimp on us. They did comp our dessert. But the lichen managers's attitude was aggressively diva-like and seemed more interested in proving us wrong than settling our complaint. read more

I went to Cheddar's for the first time in my life this week. I had the veggie plate where you get to pick a soup or salad with 4 sides. I enjoyed their house salad with balsamic vinaigrette, broccoli casserole, and red beans and rice (I could have eaten just a plate of that!). I also had their coleslaw (pretty run of the mill, not spectacular) and green beans (ok, but I thought they would have more flavor). My husband had their ribs with mashed potatoes. They were quite good. I had their Maui Margarita, which was on the sweet side, so I saved it to drink for dessert. The prices were reasonable. Overall, Cheddar's reminded me a lot of Black Eyed Pea. read more

This is my favorite place in San Angelo. Food: Know what kind of place you're at. If you come in expecting 5 star pasta and steaks you should know better. I absolutely love their sandwiches, and the appetizer list is full of goodies. The mozz sticks are top notch, the spinach dip is delicious, and the Texas hot mess fries are really good if you don't mind hating yourself! The monster cookie is out of this world. Staff: I've only had a couple problems with the staff, and it was mostly them just not having any personality. However 95% of the time if they screw something up they're more than happy to fix it right away with a smile. Side note: It's hard to get big groups in here. We were seated quick, but table was very small for 4 people. Took appetizer order and was delivered within minutes, so they were not fresh, so i can only assume they are sitting under a heating lamp for who knows how long. Order was taken and while they are preparing our food i see that two table that came in 5-10 minutes after us were served roughly ten minutes before us and another table that came in 15 minutes after us was served about the same time as us. Great food at very reasonable prices. We usually hit this placd weekly and only once had a problem that was quickly corrected. Thecwait staff is very attentive and the atmosphere is great for almost any occassion. Wish they had one in Midland and not Odessa. Chicken fried steak and chicken fried chicken are the bomb. After we had enough people and waited an hour after our reservation time they sat us all separately and actually had us move twice before we just said f it and left and they didn't care. The food has always satisfied us (my mom and I) but when it comes down to the FACES of the restaurant it's displeasing. Every time we come it seems like our server or, if we are sitting at the bar, our bartender looks like they just woke up and got out of bed and came to work. They're appearance is not pleasing and almost distasteful. For example the ladies hair. Majority of the female servers walking around including the bartender have these messy buns that look trashy and untamed. I'm a server my self and I know what the staff looks like after a night of partying and late night "studying." that would be my only complaint is for the hygiene of the staff to be improved. read more

Anyway, just tried to get a beer and lunch in the bar area of the restaurant and after watching the bartender ignore our request and then the request from our server to poor our drinks, we walked out. Funny though, there were no less than about six employees standing around talking and doing nothing. If the bartender was so busy, why didn't anyone move over to help in that area?
