The food here is decent.....If you get it. The service is horrible. Starting from their gloomy faced hostess who acts like she is leading you to a funeral, and then you get a waitress who takes your order and disapears. when she returns with your food, the sides are missing and when you inquire about the sides, you are told, "we are out." She wont even offer you a different side. We had to ask if we could order another side. This is not the place to go if you are thirsty, drink refills are non existent. We went back a second time, thinking we just went there on a bad day but no, same gloomy hostess and a different waitress, but same terrible service. Its a shame cause the place is very nice looking and could be a great restaurant under the right management. We wont be going back. read more

Cheddar's is one of those hit or miss places to eat. You might get great food but terrible service. You might get great service but terrible food. They need to work on having both food and service click at once. Generally, I have eaten way too many times to count and really haven't had any horrible experiences. The buffalo chicken strips and the steaks are good here along with delicious broccoli cheese casserole. The drink menu is pretty extensive, but recently they got rid of Miller Lite on tap to add Budweiser. Seriously??? They have Bud Light and Coors Light, but some genius decides to get rid of the best light beer they have to replace it with Shitweiser. Oh well. Recently, while eating with my wife and another couple, my wife's salad had a long strand of black hair in it. I would expect the usual response from the waitress to apologize and inform her manager. All my wife got was an "EWWW Gross" and an apology. No manager and they tried to charge her for the salad. This was unacceptable. I will say that the service at the bar is excellent. Cheddar's was so disappointing. I used to love to eat at Cheddars because the food was good the portions were appropriate and the staff was friendly. Over the years it has become really run down to say the least. Nobody that works there cares. I went for dinner yesterday with my husband. I took 10 min to get chips and queso. Our waiter was always gone and didn't even know about certain things in the menu. When we got our food my husbands was cold like it had been sitting in the back for awhile and his steak was tiny. I had quite possibly the worst dining experience of my life at cheddars. I will most certainty not be going back anytime soon. Thankfully I did get my money back. To make a long story short our waiter was incompetent, And the managers were worse. We ended up getting our meals with no sides because they had already tossed everything for the night (an hour and a half before closing time) we were offered no compensation other than giving us a $4 appetizer for free. The food that we did receive was made by improvising and switching out ingredients that they had tossed for something they still had handy. We told the waiter several times that the check needed to be divided for both sets of couples and he managed to keep them combined and tell us there was no way to separate them. Apparently he figured it out though and charged our cards for each others bill amounts! It took us a good hour of arguing with the manager to just get out of that place with our money. We have been to other Cheddars and had good experiences, this time was not. This review is based on our one experience and not on the chain or even restaurant as a whole, and it could change if we eat there again. However after 25 mins (with a hungry 3 year old) and 4 tables who were seated after us got their food, we asked about ours. We were told that the kitchen was backed up however after informing the waiter (who was polite and professional) about the other tables he seemed surprised and went and checked on it. After about 10 mins our food came out. Half of our plates were lukewarm/cold and the others hot so I'm not sure how that happened. Cheddars comp'd our 5 dollar appetizer upon receiving our bill. The staffs politeness and the small comp is the result of the 3 stars, however I couldn't give anymore based on this experience there and waiting over an hour total for lukewarm food. read more

Horrible service every time I go here. First time, there was a long wait and we received a buzzer. After about 45 minutes, we asked the hostess how much longer and she said she buzzed us and called us on the loud speaker 30 minutes ago and we never came so she gave our table away to someone else. NEITHER happened. We were standing inside the whole time and she never called our name or buzzed us. We left. Second time, we waited 30 minutes for a table, then an additional 15 minutes to get our drinks once we were seated. Then out of 8 people, 6 orders were wrong when we finally got our food close to an hour after being seated. They under-cooked my husband's steak and he couldn't eat it. It got send back, then the new steak was burnt. We will never go back. read more

This location has the absolute worst customer service, every time we go, for years. We continue to go because the kids love the food and it's all about the kids, right? We arrived with a party of eleven and a high chair. The hostess put an 8-top up next to a booth. Such an inconvenient set-up, especially with a mostly empty restaurant. I had to ask the other rude hostess several times for a high chair, all as I carried my baby around obviously in need of somewhere to sit him. The hostess then informed us that the waiter for this table would not be arriving until 5:30 - fifteen minutes later! We had six hungry kids with us. Fifteen minutes of hell later, the hostess said she'd get our drink order and our waiter should be arriving in just a minute. But she wouldn't take our (much needed) adult beverage order because "she's too young to serve alcohol". We trekked to the bar one by one to get our alcohol while the hostess brought the kids drinks, one by one. Once our server showed up he did his best but I'm pretty sure he was high. So confused is an understatement. The manager delivered our food and couldn't care less how empty our glasses were, how our table needed a pre-bus of the app plates, or the fact we didn't even have silverware. The next time the kids request Cheddars in San Angelo it will be a big NO. read more

Horrible service almost always...but this time I was trying to order to go via phone because I have sick kids. The 1st time I called, I was on hold for 16 minutes, then got hung up on. I called back & was transferred to the bar immediately after saying "I was trying to place a take out order..." This time it rang for 3 minutes, someone then said "hello?" & hung up when I said I was trying to order. 3rd time, I asked for a manager to take my order, was transferred, it rang for 2 minutes, then I was hung up on again! I've been here quite a few times for lunch. The food is always good. Speed of service is hit or miss, but always friendly. It's one of the few sit-down restaurants my kids like. I just wish they would bring back the apples with yogurt side dish. read more

Really enjoyed appetizers and salads here as well as margaritas. It was a perfect lunch for mom and her grown daughters. We shared 2 salads and they were nice enough to split them up for us ahead of time. We had onion rings and spinach dip as appetizers. So good! It was a great way to try several things. On Friday, September 28, 2012, a friend and I ate dinner at your restaurant located in San Angelo, TX. I had the baked potato soup and the cornmeal catfish with fries and coleslaw. I ordered a Bud Light and a glass of water. At around 2:30 am on Saturday, 29 September 2012, I vomited up my dinner. I sent the soup back two times as it was not hot, and the third bowl I just ate. In the past, we had always enjoyed eating at Cheddar's but not this afternoon. Upon entry the hostess showed she did not want to be there and things seened to decline from there. We waited about fifteen minutes for someone to finally ask if we wanted a drink. We ordered at that same time and the food was only Club Sandwiches but that took about twenty minutes or more to arrive. The food was of average quality. We had been given a Gift Card but they said (by someone I can only hope was not a manager) even though it showed forty dollars on the card, their computer would not accept the card. I asked could I use a credit card and they said I could. I asked why they could use my credit card but not the Gift Card. He did not have an answer. I did not want them even looking at my Credit Card so I paid them cash and left. I will give my Gift Cheddar's Gift Card to someone else as I will never return. read more
