Our neighbor couple, my wife and I came to Cheddar's last night, Wednesday, October 24th, to celebrate my wife's 73rd birthday. We were seated in a timely manner and provided with a menu and told that Angela would be our waitress. Some time elapsed and Angela finally came by and said that she would be right with us. We continued to scan the menu and comment on how VERY COLD it was in the restaurant. She took our drink orders - a Moscow mule for my wife and a double scotch on the rocks for me. Angela was uncertain about the Moscow mule and said that she would have to go to the bar to find out if they could make that. Upon her return, she stated that they did not carry ginger beer, so my wife ordered a Miller lite beer. She made the comment that she had hoped to get a Moscow mule since it was her birthday. I ordered an order of onion rings for the table and then asked about the marinara sauce in the chicken parmesan since I am deathly allergic to olive oil. Once again, Angela had to go and ask (which I am FINE with). She returned to state that there was no olive oil in the sauce. My wife and I each ordered the chicken tender parmesan with garlic bread and a side house salad with ranch. When our drinks arrived, my bride had to have Angela return and get her a glass for her beer.
We continued to visit in our booth and my neighbor's wife complained of being EXTREMELY COLD. Angela did come and check on us once shortly after the onion rings arrived and we told her how cold we were, and she stated that it was cold in the restaurant tonight, but that was all. She additionally asked if I wanted another drink. I told her that I would have one when I got my meal. I was somewhat disappointed in the lack of scotch in a double - my glass was mostly ice with the appearance of very little scotch. My preference is Chivas Regal, but this location quite stocking it in late 2017/early 2018, so I just order the house scotch. But I still desire a double when one is ordered. Our dinner finally arrived, and we were somewhat shocked in the size of the portions on all our dinners. Angela wanted to know if all was in order. I stated that it would be nice to have our side salads as well, and she appeared to be shocked that she had failed to deliver them earlier.
We began to eat our dinner and about half way through our dinner, the side salads arrived that were also HUGE. We ate as much as we could and felt like we would take the remainder home. The food was all very cold by then since it had been exposed to the wintry-like conditions in the restaurant and we were all very uncomfortable and wanted to leave. Please note that during this entire time, Angela never came back to check on us nor ask me IF I wanted another drink. We then had to wait a long time to get to-go-boxes, our bills, and our bills returned. No dishes were ever cleared from the table and my wife had to ask IF she could have a cookie in recognition of her birthday. My neighbor never did get his change for whatever bills he used to pay cash for his dinners. In departing, I left a birthday card that our neighbors had given my wife. I called back to the restaurant after returning home and was informed that they could not locate the card despite it being less than 20 minutes since our departure. I asked to speak to the manager, so I could express my displeasure over our service and the inability to locate the card. Miraculously, the card was located, and I was told that I could pick it up at the hostess station. I asked if I could do that on Thursday and was told by Stephanie that I could do so any time after 10:00 a.m.
I took my wife to get her driver's license renewed on Thursday morning and then stopped by the restaurant at 10:15 in the morning only to discover that it doesn't open until 11:00. I called the restaurant and spoke to Stephanie and she brought the card to me outside.
Here is a summary of my issues from last night's visit:
1) Too cold.
2) Double scotch is very small.
3) No glass delivered with the Miller Lite.
4) Portions too large.
5) Salads not delivered with the meal OR before the meal.
6) Inability to order a second drink.
7) Food got cold too fast due to the temperature in the restaurant.
8) Dishes never being cleared from the table.
9) Wife had to ask for her birthday cookie.
10) Neighbor not getting his change.
We have dined at this location many times since moving here four years ago. We have NEVER encountered this degree of poor service and attitude in all our previous visits. My only previous concern was the elimination of the Chivas Regal from your bar menu. We are now struggling to determine where we will dine for future birthday celebrations. This does not seem to be the correct spot for us. read more
