    What I could salvage
    Susette B.

I gave an extra Star because there was only one gal in the entire restaurant doing everything. I waited 5 mins to place my order and then another 10 mins for the worst Philly sandwich I have ever been served. Not much meat with very little cheese, onions or green pepper that I would expect in a Philly. Instead, to my surprise there was lettuce, tomatoes and mayo. WHAT???? I salvaged what I could and ate my $10 sandwich. Disappointed

The staff was extremely friendly and helpful, and the food came out fast and was extremely hot and fresh! Definitely coming back

Finally! Some late night food that isn't 100% fried or burgers. I feel like I've been waiting for this kind of spot to pop up in the Orlando area, but it's nice to find it here at least. Meals that would be $25 in a "$$" restaurant on a glass plate are made to order at Salem's in the $8-$15 range. There's also all-day BOGO milkshakes & $1.99 scoops of ice cream, which won me over before I even tasted the food. I got the large grilled fish bowl for $11.99 and my boyfriend got the Philly cheesesteak combo for $12.99. They were both great! My favorite part was getting to choose the kind of fish I got, as well as the seasoning on everything. Since the drive thru and indoor seating are both open till 4AM, we ate right there and liked how clean they keep this location. 5/5 stars - totally recommend.

So much talk about this tasty place, and I had to see about it for myself. My friend lives in St. Petersburg and when I visit over the weekend, I stopped by. One of the things I heard about it was because they stay open late, and their food is made fresh to order. I chose their 5 piece Lemon Pepper Wings and Fry meal and it did not disappoint!! The wings were fresh, throughly cooked and so were the fries. The drive thru service was great and didn't wait long for fresh wings. I'd give this place a 10/10, I will definitely give it a try again!!

Just found a twist tie in my gyro form the Salems off 34th in St.petersburg. It cut my gum when I bite into it. Watch the food you eat from there.

Beautiful murals and quirky decor are located throughout this outdoor restaurant. They have a gorgeous bar inside by the bathrooms if you need to get out of the heat. This is a regular spot of my friends so I was in no way surprised at how good the food was. The shrimp was fresh, crunchy shrimp and the mullets seasons is perfection. Cocktails are above average and reasonably priced. Parking can be a beast though!

This seafood-focused restaurant started us off with a hearty fish spread served alongside crackers…read more The spread was lightly seasoned, with fresh cucumber and jalapeño adding brightness and flavor. The jalapeño, in particular, provided a pleasant kick that elevated the dish nicely. Tedie and I both ordered the grouper tacos. The restaurant keeps things simple, offering each fish prepared in only three different styles. Tedie chose the "Florida Man" preparation (broiled), while I selected the "Dirté."(fried) The fish appeared to be either red or gag grouper. Interestingly, she preferred mine, while I found myself enjoying hers a bit more. The cucumber spaghetti side was refreshing, though I think it could benefit from a bolder flavor profile. It's something I'll likely recreate at home with a bit more seasoning. The Cajun fries were well-executed and made for a satisfying accompaniment. Overall, I'm glad we gave this place a try and would recommend it to others. In terms of value for the money, I'd rate it a solid 7 out of 10.

The pull apart focaccia was a stand out alongside the Cesar salad. For mains we shared two of their most popular pasta dishes and they were cooked perfectly. I want to preface this by saying we are easygoing, forgiving people who rarely complain, so it takes a lot for us to leave a review like this. I was especially excited going in after reading the chef's bio, which references Le Manoir aux Quat'Saisons. I dined there back in the late 90s, and it remains one of the best meals of my life, right up there with dinner at Alain Ducasse in NYC. That pedigree set my expectations high, though not unrealistic ones. Unfortunately, the execution at Elliot Aster did not come close to living up to that lineage. **The good:** The team acknowledged our anniversary with a card at the table and a glass of champagne with dessert. The filet was cooked perfectly, the gnocchi was well done, and dessert was excellent. **The not so good:** Nearly everything else. Getting to the restaurant itself was confusing. There was no valet greeting, no doorman, and no signage in the lobby pointing us to Elliot Aster, so we had to ask the front desk for directions. Once seated, service was disorganized from start to finish. We ordered cocktails while waiting for our table, and they took 45 minutes to arrive, after multiple follow ups and having to close out a bar tab before the drinks even showed up. My martini arrived nothing like the version advertised (one plain olive instead of the three blue cheese stuffed olives pictured on their own Instagram). Later, at the bar, a port and a beer sat forgotten for 20+ minutes before our server realized he had never brought them over. Our entrees also arrived before we had finished our cocktails, which felt rushed rather than paced for a fine dining experience. The octopus starter was well seared but the flavor combination felt scattered, and the truffle sauce on my filet had almost no truffle flavor, especially disappointing given the chef's pedigree. One small but telling detail: the decorative olive trees hanging over our table were visibly dusty, which was distracting and not something you want to notice at a white tablecloth dinner. No server mentioned a signature dish, made a recommendation, or referenced a sommelier. We never saw one on the floor. I also want to mention the dress code, or lack thereof. We understand we are in Florida, and a laid back approach makes sense here. But asking guests not to wear shorts or t-shirts does not seem unreasonable for a restaurant at this level. Gym clothes, which we saw on more than one guest, is simply not acceptable at this tier of dining. Having worked in the restaurant industry myself, I understand things go wrong, but this was a long list of avoidable missteps, not one off bad luck. Given the chef's background and the promise it suggested, this was a real letdown. The bar itself is gorgeous, and we had genuinely hoped this would become a regular spot for us, especially given the lounge menu. We were hoping for something reminiscent of La Belle Vie in Minneapolis, a place that held a special spot in our hearts. Unfortunately, based on this visit, we cannot recommend Elliot Aster or The Vinoy.

I ordered the spaghetti and meatballs, which were absolutely delicious, along with a side of Brussels sprouts, which was kind of random. Snappers was packed at 6:30pm on a Tuesday night. However, as it was late July, we were able to get a table outside right away. There are fans to help with the heat, and it's well ventilated so there was a nice breeze. Our server was prompt and friendly. The menu was seafood with an Asian flair. We started with the crab stuffed portobello (probably the weakest part of the meal) and delicious coconut shrimp. After that, our entrees came with salads, which were also great (tortilla chips and a zesty dressing made it more fun than your usual house salad, but it didn't feel too decadent). I got the snapper, which was served over coconut rice and with a delicious curry sauce and mango chutney. The curry reminded me more of thinner Japanese curry versus Indian or Thai, which I loved. The snapper itself was a nicely-sized piece and was cooked/seasoned perfectly with a hint of spice. The coconut sticky rice was so addictive!! The sweetness of the mango chutney just made each bite a wonderful flavor explosion. I would 100% recommend this dish. My husband got the coconut cashew crusted mahi, which was also excellent (and another huge portion of fish). It seems like you can't go wrong here with a fish dish!
