I am surprised to see such a low rating (three stars as of this review), as my experiences at this restaurant in the past year or so have been excellent every time. On at least three separate visits, the service has been friendly, the food has been tasty, and the prices are reasonable. I can recommend the fried shrimp and the vegetable plate. And seriously, the honey butter croissants are worth the trip alone! My only complaint would be that, for some reason, the lighting is unnecessarily low. I've dined at this chain across the States of Oklahoma and Texas. I've never eaten anything here except for the Monte Crisco sandwich plate. It's always been my favorite except for this time. The sandwich is stacked with several deli meats and cheeses, dipped in batter and fried quickly to a crisp. Once out of the fryer, it is sprinkled with confectionary sugar and served on a plate with raspberry jam and the side of your choice. Okay, so it's not the healthiest choice on the menu, but once you've had the combination, it's hard to resist. Unless you had it at this location. It just doesn't work if the batter isn't crispy. I was not a fan of the doughy outcome that was served on my plate. On a positive note; the loaded potato was perfect. And the onion rings. Don't miss out on the onion rings!!!! I took my wife and son today, it is our 2 year wedding anniversary today, Daniel the manager greeted us at the door with a smile and friendly greeting as if he were actually happy that we were there! Our server was Alberto, today was his last day of training, he and his trainer were both amazing!! The food was awesome!! We ordered appetizers that were really good and huge in amount, our entrees were equally impressive! At the end of the feast they brought us a huge piece of chocolate cake and ice cream, on the house for an anniversary gift, what an amazing experience!! We will definitely be back! I wasnt expecting gourmet...it is a chain, but I have had some decent food at some chain restaurants. This review is mostly about service. Our waiter was VERY distracted, we had to repeat our drink order twice. Good thing I asked for water because we were NEVER offered a refill of any kind. The food sat for a while before we got it, my mac and cheese was congealed and cold. My salmon crust was so salty I had to peel it off... and it was cold yet over done. We waited, the waiter passing us at least 4 times...our plates and glasses stacked at the edge of the table, for our check. He had a nice little meeting with several other staff about not getting a tip at his other table, then walked right past us again. Had to flag the manager to get our bill. We left a 15% tip.. but little man, you didnt deserve it. Wont be returning. The food just really isnt that good and the service is tragic. read more

I ordered a 14 ribeye steak , medium rare. It came well done,and was a sirloin. There is no way they were unaware of the mistake , but they served it to me anyway. Horrible. Granted we had a party of 6 and expected a wait. However after an hour my son went and was told one party ahead of us. 30 mins later I asked and was told they were setting the table now. Another large party was sat. I asked how much longer and the hostess said let me check and got the manager. Who came to the podium with attitude. She said they were setting the table s s a breath later said they were waiting for a party to leave. I asked which is it as I was told earlier they were setting up our table. This place is a joke. Waited 10 min for our table for two which wasn't bad. Sat and waited for 15 minutes for a server that never came. I asked a passing server to speak to a manager. By this time a group that was sat after us had already got their drinks, appetizers, and were waiting on their food. Waitress was beyond friendly and helpful with what she could help with. I ordered a caesar salad and later on was told they did not have caesar dressing. My husband ordered garlic bread, they informed him later that they did not have garlic bread but toast. He asked for it to be replaced with the toast and then he's told they are out of toast that the last of it burnt. We went in asked for a table for 4. We waited 25 minutes and noticed that 2 empty booths were not occupied the entire time we waited. Will not return to this location. Solid food. Consistency in cooking, selection, flavor, etc. --- from dessert to appetizers. Clean place, wait staff is friendly --- sometimes the wait can be long, but that is because there are limited decent restaurants in Odessa. -- Pricing is good, the most expensive thing on the menu I think is $14, so can't beat it. The server was friendly but our order took well over 30 minutes. The time we had was spent on waiting for food. I asked the hostess to speak to a manager. The hostess was very friendly but the manager was not. She did not let me finish before saying they were busy with a to go order in front of us. My family and I decided to give Cheddars a try and what a terrible decision it turned out to be. The receptionist is less then welcoming but at least she did her job & our waitress was great. The problem occurred when our food was delivered (by the manager) & my sons BBQ chicken was delivered as a plain chicken breast. When I pointed it out to the mgr, instead of saying "sorry about the mess up I'll get it corrected" she proceeded to argue that the kids plate doesn't have BBQ chicken but that she could bring me a cup of BBQ sauce. I declined and instead pointed out to her that it does indeed have it on the menu (physically showing her). AGAIN, no apology and more of her rude argumentative tone telling me she didn't care what it said it's not how it's done BUT she would do me a favor and have them put BBQ sauce on top or could bring me a side cup. I declined stating I did want her to bring me a cup of sauce or pour cold sauce on it, I wanted it cooked properly. So she huffed off and said she would take care of it BUT she didn't! She arrived one minute later after putting cold bbq sauce in it, at this point I just requested a to go box and proceeded to give my son my BBQ ribs. When she noticed it wasn't getting ate she did offer to comp the plate but I didn't want comped food, I wanted it cooked correctly & that was obviously not an option. So I took it home and will warm it and eat it myself later. My suggestion is to hire a manager that 1, has customer service skills and 2 knows the menu. read more

I have eaten here about 5 times and found most of my experiences to be quite good. Only two of the times has the service been a little less than par but just because the people were very new. All their food has been very good and have enjoyed everything I have eaten here. It is simple Americanized chain restaurant food that is all very good. They do have a pot pie which is extremely nice. I dined with a friend and his mom tonight at the Cheddars in Odessa TX. Aside from his food being cold and giving up after the 3rd time sending it back we gave up. Then, when I walked to my car which was about one of 5 in the parking lot behind the store, I saw a big silver Toyota Tundra TSS parked very close to my car, he had a good 2/3rd's to choose from but parked less than 2 feet next to me. I had things to put in the passenger side and when I saw the damage that pickup did to my car from opening their driver door, I became furious!! I called the store and asked to have them page the owner of that vehicle because the scrape and dent is significant! The girl that answered the phone called her manager to the phone and he was VERY non-chalant about the whole situation and repeatedly said they didn't have a paging system which I find hard to believe. I offered to come in and yell the information out but he denied me the opportunity. He was incredibly uncaring about the situation but I'm sure if it were HIS car, the results would have been QUITE different. I went inside and got his name, Anthony Goodman. While he was too busy "mingling" with the girls up front, he managed to tear himself away long enough to give me his name and the store's address. I was a restaurant manager for almost 20 years and I guarantee had I acted toward a customer like that after the crappy service I'd already gotten I would be unemployed the next day!! Second time to eat at this restaurant. Food is amazing. The service is something to be desired. Food takes too long to come out. Servers don't check on you. Tonight a half full drink was taken from the table and spilled onto our feet. The server did not apologize and still charged for the drink. After waiting with empty glasses for quite some time were told that the bar was closed and no longer able to bring any drinks that were ordered. The food was always great and service was great. I bragged about the food and restaurant, it quickly became my favorite restaurant. However on Sunday, June 11, 2017. I had the most horrible experience at Cheddars Restaurant and I've ate at many restaurants around the world, here and abroad. First, the wait was extremely long after we were told the wait would be anywhere from 5 to 10 minutes, it turned into over a hour. The sad part was the waiters and waitresses were just standing around at the hostess stand and several tables were available, I guess it was a shift change???? Second, we could not use our coupon, it does not expire to June 18??? Third, I asked for sweet tea and received unsweetened, when I asked the waitress to correct it she got an attitude. One of the other guest asked the waitress a question and she rolled her eyes at her. That was the final straw, we got up and walked out. Horrible service at a place that we normally love. Tonight was totally different from the time I was warmly greeted by the hostess to the exceptional service that our server Mario gave us. This added to the our dinning experience. My only complaint is when ordering food to-go please bag it then bring to the table do not bring it unbagged and leave the bag on top for me to bag.
