As a large family, we don't go out to eat much. So on our way home from a day of sitting in a loud gym for the youngest's sport event, we thought the relaxing, solid choice would be Cheddars. Got a table quickly. Wait staff was pretty good. No complaints there. It was the food. It tasted like it just came from the discount freezer rack. Burgers were bland meat disks. Pasta dish was ok. Beef tips were tough from being over done. Croissants were good as always. Probably the best thing on the table was the bowl of soup which likely came from a can and microwaved. I've wanted to try Cheddars for a while now but never really got around to it. My husband told me it's similar to BJ's restaurant as far as their menu offerings so I was definitely intrigued because I love BJ's. We ended up trying them for the first time last weekend and the ambiance is actually nicer than I expected. The restaurant gives off fancy vibes, not like Ruth's Chris fancy but better than a Chilis or Applebees if you get what I mean. We were sat right away which was nice for it being a weekend day. They were too busy. Our waiter was good. He came around to get our order and check in at the right times. Only thing I'll add is that we waited quite a while for refills on our drinks. But that was the only negative as far as service. As for the food. I love the crossiant they serve. Very warm and fresh, and the perfect little appetizer. My sister and her husband got the Wisconsin cheese bites which weren't too bad. I'm not a huge fan of overly cheesy foods but my husband is so I know he loved them. For main course I got the New Orleans pasta and my husband got the monte Cristo sandwich. He said he enjoyed his meal, I also tried a bite. Definitely a different type of sandwich compared to your standard idea. My New Orleans pasta wasn't the best choice, in my opinion. I had asked for extra sauce and good thing I did because it was quite dry without it. Will definitely try something else if we come back! We also got their carrot cake slice to go and I HIGHLY recommend it for dessert. The cake was nice and moist. Just the right amount of icing layers in between also. Always a good time when we eat at Cheddar's Great value for families, kid's meals are reasonably portioned and priced with several options beyond the typical burger or chicken Their family meals are a great value for ordering to-go as well. With several young children, it's a friendly environment for kids but still nice for adults too. I appreciated our server's patience and how they seated us in an alcove with other families. Cheddar's is located in Murfreesboro right off the exit. Easy to find with signs from the road. The parking lot was packed, but we were seated within 10 minutes. It was freezing in the restaurant. I had to get my hoodie. We joked with another table about how cold it was. Wait for seating was short, but for food, it was long. They were pretty busy. Our drinks came up quickly. The crossaints with honey butter were amazing, fresh, and hot. We should have ordered more while we waited for our food. The Buffalo shrimp were OK. Buffalo sauce was pretty good. My salmon was cooked perfectly and seasoned just right, as was my rice. The buttered corn side was really good. The broccoli was slightly overcooked. I ate the parts that were not. Cheeseburger was good. It came with onions, tomatoes, and lettuces even though they were asked to remove those items. Simple enough to remove. The staff was friendly and nice. The food was good for the most part. It was just so cold. We wanted to eat and hurry back to the hotel or outside to warm back up. It caused our food to get cold quicker. Never even got to eat because of the lack of communication service. Walked in about 5:30-ish on Valentines Day, i knew it was going to be busy and that there was going to be a wait so I told the front service I needed a table for two in which she said okay, told me it would be a 30min wait then just stared at me so I went to my car in which i did think it was pretty weird she dint ask for a name or anything but i just waited the 30 mins. Walked in the building talked to the same person in which i told them they told me it was a 30 min wait but did not take my name or anything in which she proceeded to tab on her tablet then tell me it would be a 45min wait...I told her she was tripping and walked out. I understand it was busy but upon arrival when i went in the restaurant the second time a customer in front of me in the line had to ask the front server "did she want her name or anything". As a fellow ex-fast food worker if you don't know how to communicate nor know how to have good customer service why are you working in the front?!?! read more

The food was actually very good -- well-prepared and flavorful. Unfortunately, the service left a lot to be desired. Staff were inattentive and seemed disorganized, which really took away from the overall experience. Feb. 8, 2026. Sunday. Entered the restaurant a little after 11 am. Patrons were being seated toward the front. A lot of open tables. we were escorted to the back of the reataurant, two tables from the emergency exit. A little loud in the area even though they had just opened their doors for customers Waitress took our order, fish and shrimp and fried chicken. Waitress was friendly and not intrusive. Had the complientary croissants. Two tables away sounded like a party going on with 6-7 waitresses, table cleaners taling loudly ane even taking up one of the servers tables. Manager came by and knew this was going on and said nothing. One lady was stuffing eating utinsils in napkins and laid them in a plastic container on the floor. Another table cleaner came by and set his plastic container on the floor. Both of these containers usually end up on serving tables or at the receiptionist area. One server came back to this area and brought a small carry-out box with her food in it, eating it while wearing a server apron. I used to love Cheddar's, especially the one in Cookeville, TN, when our son was at TN Tech. I'll never be back to the one in Murfreesboro as the last 3 times were patronized this place on a Sunday at opening time, we were escorted to the back of the restaurant. Thankfully, the previous two visits were more enjoyable than the third, Looks like some training needs to be conducted for the manager on duty and the servers/table cleaners if they want to keep or increase their business at this location. I don't want any offers of any free or discounted meal. Documentation of training in the areas mentioned above and posted on Yelp would help me in becoming a customer again. read more

The foods good. I just don't like how they hang on to your debit card for longer than what they should. Usually when I order Take Out they usually swipe my card in front of my at the bar but this time she took my card in the back where I could not see and that didn't sit well with me. So once she came back to give her my card I told her I felt uncomfortable with her taking my card in the back when I specifically asked her to do so at the bar. She acted as if what I cared about didn't matter even though it was my card and money. I placed a to go order online Tuesday June 25th. I arrived at the resturant early in the pickup line and received my order and upon arriving at home was quit surprised to find my entree was missing from the order. I called the resturant spoke immediately with the p e son who brought .y order out and to a manager who both admitted to leaving it out. Normally I would have drove back but the manager told me they would email me a gift card to compensate me for the inconvenience but here it is Saturday and upon calling the resturant was placed on eternal hold. I wanted to enjoy this more, but I didn't. The big bear and I came here for a bit of lunch. Place was pretty busy, but we were sat in 10 min time - which is great! I ordered the 6 oz sirloin, salad, and broccoli. I have zero complaints about my selection. Steak was cooked a perfect medium as requested. The broccoli was tender and a vibrant green. And the salad was pretty good. However, his choice sucked! He got the Monte Cristo sandwich, fries, and salad. Salad was good. The fries were passable. However, the sandwich was cold in the middle and was not edible for him. The preserves that came with the sandwich was ok, but he would have much preferred maple syrup. The service was slow and lacking - which was the other star deduction. I asked for extra lemon for my tea four times and never got it. I asked for to go boxes and he forgot them. Asked for a to go cup, he forgot that too and had to go back for it. He tried to keep the floors clean well, but had to apologize more than once for less than attentive service. Not terribly happy in the end, but this isn't the end of the world. Perhaps I will try a bit later on to see if things improve. Just wished it was a better experience. read more

Ok. I really wanted a Cheddars ribeye so I suggested to my out of town visitor that's where we should go. Server: Couldn't remember anything and I don't know that she even wanted to but she was bearable. Very nonchalant and not that attentive but bearable. Appearance: We were seated in what I call the family section. Two of us seated at the big long benches that were ripped and soiled with grease. This bothered me because it made me feel as if I were eating at an interstate truck stop. They say you eat with your eyes first...well, yuck. Food: Got the spinach dip. As usual it was AMAZING! I met some friends for lunch at Cheddar's Scratch Kitchen. The restaurant was not busy and there were plenty of tables to choose from. As soon as we sat down our waitress brought out waters and sweet croissants. We started with and order of chips, queso and salsa. The queso was very good but the salsa was straight tomato sauce. Somebody had to have forgotten to add ingredients because it was the plainest salsa that I have ever tasted. Three of us ordered chicken pot pies and the forth person ordered a bacon cheeseburger. The cheeseburger was cooked perfectly and was freshly made. Our pot pies were piping hot and taste very good. Last night we visited Cheddar's for pick up. We haven't been there in a couple years, but remembered it being so good, so we tried it out! Welp... I haven't been so disappointed in a meal all year. Wow! What happened Cheddar's? I tipped in advance, ordered curbside, and it took forever for someone to come out. When they finally did come out, they only brought a portion of my order, so I had to wait again for them to casually go get the rest of my meal. The tone was set... As for my meal: 1. I paid $4 for a 20 oz. strawberry lemonade. Yes, the lemonade was good, but had I known I was paying for such a small amount of lemonade... I definately wouldn't have ordered it! 2. The buttered croissants were spot on delicious, just as I remembered them! 3. My son ordered chicken fingers, fries, and broccoli. The chicken fingers had zero flavor.... absolutely NO flavor. I would never order those again. His fries were hard,and the broccoli was steamed with no flavor, no butter, nothing. He, nor I could stomach any of it! 4. My boyfriend ordered the tilapia, shrimp, rice, and broccoli casserole. There wasn't one edible item in his plate. The cook was perfect for all items, but once again, there was NO flavor! I'll be honest, a tv dinner would have been much better than his meal! 5. I ordered a pecan chicken salad with honey mustard. The chicken was like chewing on rubber, with no taste, and the honey mustard was tart!! It was so strong it burned my nose when trying to eat it! What the heck!! I bit into one tomato and spit it out because it was so wilted! 6. Lastly, we ordered an appetizer for us. A trio with salsa, queso, and spinach dip. We didn't enjoy any of them! In summary, for $60, to say the least, I was HIGHLY disappointed! In fact, if we would have been sitting in the restaurant, I surely would have sent our food back, and opted to eat somewhere else. read more

The staff and management at this particular Cheddar's location deserve to be praised. While traveling, a bag containing my driver's license and some credit cards accidentally fell out of my purse. I didn't discover this until we were to our destination in Florida. Two weeks later I realized that I may have lost these things at Cheddars when we stopped for lunch. I called and to my amazement that's where I lost them and they were STILL there! The management had kept them locked in their safe all that time. And they even went so far as to mail them back to my home address, paying for postage and going to the trouble of putting them in a secure mailer and taking them to the post office. This is going above and beyond! I was so grateful and just amazed at their kindness and willingness to safeguard my license and credit cards, hoping that eventually the owner (me) would figure it out and call!
