I am not a big fan of Cheddars....After kept saying too family no no no to Cheddars. They insisted because it's reasonable. We went and order three entrees with side salad. After we ordered salads the arrived on one tray and right behind that here comes the meal. The server was right there so we refused so she told them no they don't want their food right now and took it back. She should said I just sat there salads down...we finished our salads so they brought our food well it was cold. we said please bring us a fresh order....now we split our fish up so I know to make sure it was down over. well not yet a mgr came over to apologize...then food came back out and it was still warm not hot...no we didn't want it heated up in microwave. then we said we don't want...mgr came over and said what we eat we said salad. He said I will give you a ticket for it. They should comped that...never again no thank you we sorry or anything. read more

I would first like to say that I have been to this Cheeder's at least 3 times before I wrote this review. The times that I have been it has been decent..not great but decent. With that being said the last time I visited 11/6 I contracted the worst case of food poisoning I have had in years. This is a "Hit or Miss" kind of a situation. My girlfriend and I have been there multiple times and each time it's been a different experience. It always depends on the server/bartender that you get. We've never waited for or sat at a table in the dining room. The bar has the fastest options and typically you get more attention when you're front and center. TYPICALLY being the key word. Don't go here late though because the kitchen is lazy and always is in a hurry to finish dinner service. Just sayin. read more

Once we ordered supper, it was seldom that anyone checked on us. In fact, she only checked on us ONE time. Someone else brought our food out. I had to flag down a fellow waitress to get one of my side items corrected. I ordered corn. I received a potato. I was told that they out of corn and assumed I'd like a potato. I would've preferred someone coming back and asking if there was another side I'd like instead of giving me what they thought I'd like to eat. I reckon I can credit our waitress with actually bring my replacement side to the table. She did not check on us for the remainder of the evening. She came back as the restaurant was CLOSED therefore we weren't able to order anything else to eat or drink. I can't comprehend WHY we weren't checked on or advised that the restaurant was closing and we should order soon if we would like additional menu items. We were simply provided a check. We arrived at the restaurant within 90 minutes of closing and had she checked on us more than once, we would have been able to get what we traveled so far to receive. I don't normally write bad reviews (in fact, this is my first review ever). I wait tables for a living. I understand the complexities of the kitchen (what causes it to crash), juxtaposed with saving face as a waiter. However, I was served a lasagna that had clearly shredded cheese that wasn't melted. It was literally still in shreds. The bartender, argued with me that I had let it sit for ten minutes, so therefore it was cold. Um, yes, I admit that I let it set for at least ten minutes, while finishing my appetizer. Regardless, I work in a restaurant, as well as the rest of my friends that were at Cheddar's with me tonight. We serve lasagna. It melts when you bake it. There were clear shreds of cheese that weren't melted. Instead of disregarding me as an idiot, the bartender should have just complied. I do it all the time. I simply take the guest at their word when they are unsatisfied with their dish or dissatisfied when it happens to me. I was at Cheddar's with many industry people. If you want mashed potatoes with your meal ask before you order if they have any. Before 1:00 on a Sunday they were out and you had to wait 20 min. so they could make them. The following day the in-laws went to eat and was also told they were out of mashed potatoes. There's a Sam's Club and Costco's nearby ... GO BUY SOME IF YOU ARE RUNNING LOW!!! Went there on a Saturday at noon and sat at the bar. The food arrived quickly even thought they were busy and did had a good taste. My Mom and myself both ordered the cajun pasta on one ticket, mine was barely warm hers was piping hot. My did not have very much meat and hers was loaded. I went into Cheddars as a first time customer and I will never go back. I ordered a hamburger, with only mustard and some bacon. I waited for 20 mins and got my food. My food was the wrong order altogether, I sent the food back. The second time I got my food they added mayo to my hamburger along with the mustard. I told the server that I only ordered a hamburger with mustard, not mustard and mayo. she went and got her manager. He came out and tried to defend their screw up by saying that the mustard was a mustard/mayo sauce that they put on all of their burgers. I told the manager that wasn't on the menu or I would of not ordered it. He wanted to start up a contest, and I told him that I was done and I was leaving and that I wasn't going to pay for anything as I was not satisfied. He told me that I wasn't going to tell him what to do and told me that I would be charged for everything. I told him that I will pay for the drink (a soft drink mind you) a mere 2.50. I told him that the customer is always right and he started to charge at me, till he seen that there were other customers in the area. He told me that I wasn't right and that I wasn't going to talk to him like that. I was totally appalled by this managers behavior. During this whole time I was going into diabetic shock and this manager couldn't of cared less. I left the business frustrated and sick, and I went to another restaurant. The other restaurant that I went to took better care of me as a customer and ensured that I was medically ok before I left their establishment. (My hats off to Arby's, as they demonstrated that they actually care about their customers, unlike Cheddars.) I would steer clear of this restaurant as they just want to cook what they feel like cooking and if you have a issue, you might have a interaction with a manager who has no business managing. I went here for the first time with my mother and grandma a few months ago. We all had three different meals and none of us were impressed. I had chicken tenders, my grandma had the chicken fried steak, and my mother had ribeye. Cheddar's itself was a nice place, the waitress was also friendly. However, the food was beyond bland (including the sides of fries/potatoes, bread, etcetera). I high hopes considering it is always packed, but personally will not be going back. The General Manager Chris Enright is the worst GM ever. I was having lunch with my husband and 3 year old and my son was a little onery and getting loud and i was trying to console him. He would stop crying then start but we were very attentive to him and trying our best as parents. Hes a child who is 3, and the gm comes over and flat out tells us he is asking us to leave due to the noise. Never in all my life have i been asked to leave somewhere especially a family restaraunt. I have 4 children and we have eaten out a lot. First of all he could of asked me hey can you take him outside for a minute, no he was rude and the people around us were not acting annoyed. The waitress was very understanding and didnt even know we got kicked out came over trying to ask us if we needed refills. I have been to other Cheddar restaurants such as Huntsville, AL. The waitress we had was rude in Independence, MO and has no sense of customer service. I asked for the check and she just immediately gathered all our plates (we're still eating). Not once she came by our table to see if we need anything else. The employees here might need to visit other Cheddar's restaurant such as Huntsville and observe what a professional and courteous service is. Our table smells from old rag and next to our table is a broom and a dust pan (close to the exit door). Food is cheap but without good service, I am not coming back. The long wait and bad waitress service just don't compensate for the reasonable price. read more

This place is terrible! It is always packed, you can never get a seat, then when you finally can find a bar stool on the bar side to eat, the service is terrible. We went to dinner at the Liberty location last night, sat for 45 min waiting on our food, never were we checked on after ordering and then when our food came out, my salad was wilted! We will never go back! The managers did not know how to handle the situation and kept needing to go ask someone else higher in rank how to handle the situation. Then to top it all off, the food prices went up 2.00 and drink prices went up at least by a 1.00 This place no longer is what they advertise, good food=nope, good prices=nope, good wait staff=nope. Server started out pleasant enough. However, after three of our party of eight (6 adults, 2 children under 2) did not receive our orders (after a 30-minute wait from placing the order), he continued to wait on other tables before going to the kitchen to check on our missing food. He returned approximately 5 minutes later, apologized stating that he was busy, and asked what we did not receive. We gave him a list of the missing items and asked to see the manager at that time. Approximately 5 minutes later the manager showed up and asked the same question. The items not received were a salad that was supposed to be served prior to the meal, a steak and chicken strip combo, a rib and shrimp combo, and a children's grilled cheese meal. One adult stated she did not want her food as everyone else was finished eating, and she finished what her husband did not eat of his order. I requested my food to go (the ribs and shrimp meal). The child that did not receive her food ate some of her mother's food and we did not request that food. The manager returned approximately 5 minutes later and apologized for the mix up. He offered to comp all of the food portion, but we had to pay for the alcoholic drinks ordered ($35). After waiting another 5 minutes for the order of ribs and shrimp, I flagged the waiter down and inquired about the missing meal to go. He said "That's not going to happen." So, we paid the $35 bill and left. Personally, I left without receiving or eating any food. I had to stop by a Taco Bell as I had already taken my diabetic medication thinking I was going to be eating. My son in attendance was a manager at a comparable restaurant (54th Street). He stated that the manager should have been able to comp everything (drinks included). He also stated that he could not think of any reason why the restaurant would not honor the request for one of the items ordered to go to be received (maybe cutting their losses). He also stated that there was plenty of blame to go around. The server, the front area manager, the person who brought the food (who was aware items were missing from the order), and the kitchen manager and cooks responsible for filling the food orders. I am not here to complain or compliment the food. I am here to tell what I saw happen after we ate. My friend and where just visiting, when I watched young man who was sweeping the floor reached up with his broom and swept (the table in front of me) the table top with his broom, all the while his manager( Amy) was sitting in the booth next to the table he was sweeping, who said nothing, instead she and the other people she was sitting with at her table starting laughing when. I said "That is unacceptable behavior in a restaurant". Amy never got up and she never came over to apologize to me for such unsanitizing behavior. If your help is condoning this behavior in the part of the restaurant I can see, what are they doing in kitchen, maybe I should just send this to the health department instead of you. read more

This review describes the service at one particular Cheddars restrurant located in Independence MO and does not reflect on the service of any other Cheddars restrurant that I have/or have not dined. My experience was both degrading and disrespectful. I took my 76 year old mother to lunch on December 31, 2011 to enjoy a meal and to celebrate the coming of the new year. While waiting 45 minutes for our meal, we noticed customers that had the same server we did and were seated after we were had received their food. I asked our server could she check on our order. After another 20 minutes, she returned with our food. My mothers food was luke warm and my food was cold. She ordered the chicken tender platter and I ordered the 3 cheese hictory burger w/fries. The burger was cold, stiff and dark around the edges and the fries were cold. I brought this to the attention of our server. She picked up my plate with an attitude and walked away without asking if I wanted to re-order the same thing or something else. I asked another server to send the shift manager to our table. The shift manager agreed that the server was negligent and handled the situation poorly. She was apologetic and asked did I want to re-order. I re-ordered a toasted cheese sandwich and a bowl of potato soup. The manager returned in 5 minutes with a cold bowl of potato soup w/ hard potatoes and a cold toasted cheese sandwich as to her own admission " it was going to another table but was given to you." Now maybe she wanted me to think that she made me a priority by giving me someone else food ( who now had to wait longer ) but really! Did I want a sandwich that was prepared for someone else? No! I wanted a hot sandwich that was prepared for me and I certainly didn't want to be told that it was someone else's food. I was so disgusted I felt myself gagging. By now the creditability of the manager was in question so I choose not to order anything else. Both the server and the manager displayed poor customer service and clearly did not consider me as a customer or a person. Unclassy and low quality. Well, not sure where to start! I think it was absolutely awful. We got there and told them we had a party of 13 and were told it would be about an hour. We waited, once we were told that our table was reay we were taken to a booth that seated six and told that the rest of our party would be plut at another booth. WE found out it was the other side of the resturant. That was not acceptable and when we questioned why we were told that is all they had. Well my father at age 83 was taking us all to dinner for a birthday. So we stayed after we waited that long. Should have took the hint and left. The table of six were seated and we ordered our drinks, we ordered our food, four of us were served and the others took an additional 15 minutes to get their food even thought there were tables all around us coming in being seated and served before the other two got their meal. One of the kids spilled a glass of sprite and we could not get anyone's attention to bring us something to clean it up, at that time the waitress brought the first four dinners and started placing them on the table with the mess. I asked her if she could get something and help us clean this up and she said oh, I didn't even notice. There is no way she could have not noticed. Then when the last two dinners were served they were missing the sides and we had to ask repeatedly for the sides. Fianally being served the sides. My father asked for the ticket be put on one for all 13 as he was paying, that was not done either. The table of 7 ordered appetizers and when the dishes were brought out for the appetizers they were dirty with food and had to be sent back three differnet times to get clean dishes for the appetizers, that is 28 plates that were brought out before we got 7 clean ones out of the deal. The tabel of 7 waited an eternity for their food. The four people that ordered steak could not even eat them as they were none of them cooked as ordered and could get no ones attention to send them back. Drinks were not refilled, it was a horrible horrible experience. My father spent $200 and received incredibly horrible service and food. WE willl not be going back there. Went there on a Thursday night about 8:00 for appetizers. It wasn't busy at all, and we chose to sit in the bar. There were at least 5 dirty tables in the bar area. The bartender was doing something on the computer for at least 10 minutes - even saying to us "I;ll be with you in a minute" but still messing around on the computer. Not busy staff hanging around at the end of the bar area talking and joking. Food choices were pretty awful - we chose to just get nachos as we didn't get the feeling that anything would be good enough to actually eat a meal. There was a table sitting near us - one the of waitresses spilled an entire large beer on their table and they had to move. Hope they were compensated for that. This place is just dirty, has terrible service, and mediocre food choices (the nachos were only ok). I think it just attracts people wanting to go to Bass Pro shop.....I would never choose it for anything. read more

On May 13 we had the worst dining experience ever! 1) The margarita tasted like watered down lemonarde....We finally got seated and the remaining four people in my party were served their food, one meal which included a baked potato. The food server asked if everything looked ok. I replied it would look great if I had something to eat. He ran back to the kitchen and brings a plate with only a small piece of salmon on it and said it would be 40 minutes for me to get the baked potato I ordered. I replied you've got to be kidding! I can cook one in at home in 10 minutes! He went and got the manager who comes out and said she could get me another side for my dinner or wait 4 minutes for a baked potato. I asked the manager how could it have changed from 40 minutes to 4 minutes. She had no answer to my question. I told her mashed potatoes would be sufficient but felt that I should receive compensation on the price of my meal for the bad service, incorrect information. By the time the mashed potatoes were delivered I had already completed eating the salmon. So, guess I had mashed potatoes for my dessert. No compensation was provided on our bill so we have checked this restaurant off our list for potential dining next time! read more

BUG on salad!! So I normally love Cheddar's food; however, I will never eat at THIS Cheddars again. About 1 month ago, I was ordering to go, and first of all, was placed on hold many times, had to call back twice and wait a long time for anyone to even take my order. After my order was finally taken, I waited another 15 min for my order once I got there to pick it up. I had to ask the manager about it, and then HE himself went back to "put the order together". I did not get any apologies...nothing, I was very put off. AND THEN, when I got back home, right on top of my salad was a very unpleasant black bug, size of a cockroach; however was not a cockroach. I immediately lost my appetite and called and talked to the manager...he then took my address and promised to send me a gift card. Over a month later, STILL no gift card. My advice...if you really want Cheddars, because they do have yummy food, GO to a different location!! read more

We have eaten at the Cheddar's in Springfield several times and always enjoyed our meals so we were happy to see a Cheddar's in Independence. Every time we we went by the parking lot was jammed so we imagined the food must be good. Today we went in around 3:30 and had only a short wait (in the untidy waiting area). The receptionists seemed somewhat in over their heads, were not warm or welcoming. The first thing we noticed was how incredibly loud the place was. And dark and dreary. Our waitress took our orders within a few minutes. Our wait for food was around 15 minutes. I had the talipia; my husband had chicken fried steak; we each had lemonades (not bad but pretty watery). We were hungry and time was short so when our meals arrived we dug in even though my meal looked a little marginal compared to what I'd had in Springfield. My fish was fine in the center but the outer edges were dry and had a very fishy flavor. The rice could barely be found; the broccoli was not the bright green of fresh vegetables but drab. The meat in the chicken fried steak was thin, gray, flavorless, and tough. They certainly had the look of frozen stuff smothered in a fairly good cream gravy. The waitress refilled my drink when I asked. When she asked upon bringing our check how the meal was I told her what I conveyed here. I assured her I was not asking to be comped (we ate all of the meals we wanted) but she insisted we "tell the manager." The guy on duty that day came out smiling, listened to my comments, said our comments would help assure this would not happen again, and said, "come back and see us again." I told him that probably would not be happening. I am disappointed because it would have been nice to have a Springfield-like Cheddar's close to home. For quick lunches we enjoy the Houlihan's in Lee's Summit as well as the Olive Garden and Red Lobster there. Our service and food at those locations has always been excellent. read more

We came in on Sunday afternoon had to wait a bit because we had a large party. We sat down everything was fine we had a server named Jody she seemed nice and was a good server to start. Then after we ordered it went down hill. There was 7 of us and we all ordered at the same time expecting to get our food at the same time. One person ordered chicken Alfredo and did not get it when everyone else got there food. Our server said it would be right out asked us if we needed anything and went to get what ever else we needed. She never came back like 10 or so minutes later one person in our party went to check with the server about the food and some things they needed. She came back to our table and responded to someone at our table very rudely slamming the bottle to the table, rolling her eyes and stating it was not directed towards you. The other persons food finally came out after 20 minutes of waiting while everyone else was done. The server brought the checks out seemed to be pissed off at our table. We paid, left a tip and waited until the last person was done eating but she came and picked up the ticket before we were done and never came back after. She stuck her head in and seemed to look like she was crying and walked to the host stand. When we left we could tell she was mad at us and as we were walking past the host stand she walked away because she was most likely talking about us. So bad service, bad kitchen, pasta does not take that long and you weren't even busy. Here's a tip, hire people who won't have an attitude towards your guest! read more
