Came with a large party (I already knew the tables would be seperated and that they dont do call aheads) the wait was an hour and the host was rude and seemed very annoyed. Went to this Cheddars in Garland for dinner. I ordered the chicken fried steak and it was not as good as I have had at the Greenville Ave. location for lunch. I was very disappointed. My niece ordered the New Orleans pasta and she said it was so over spiced she could not taste anything but the strong spices. I do not think I will go back to this location. We live in the Firewheel area so we go to this Cheddar's frequently. The salmon is always good and we can get it with or without glaze there, no problem. The shrimp is good, fried or grilled like on the Key West Chicken and Shrimp. Service has always been good. Every once in a while you'll get the server that "over serves" but they have always been professional. I forgot my credit card once and they let me call it in when I got home. Not many places have that type of customer service! read more

We have always considered Cheddar's as our neighborhood go-to place, never had a problem before until tonight , 10/29/14 at around 9PM, we decided to go to Cheddar's for dinner. My husband wanted to watch the World Series so we were told to jus sit ourselves at the bar area. We seated ourselves in a booth . There were servers there but no one acknowledged our presence . There was a guy at the bar and about 4 servers who passed by our booth but no one acknowledged us or even notified us I that our server was coming. The servers were busy refilling salt shakers and walking about back and forth. After a good while , there was a server who told us from a distant table he'll be with us in a minute. Minutes passed by and no one came so we decided to go to the main dining area to be served. So we were seated A server who came and he acted so cold, did not even introduced himself , he mumbled if we were ready to order, I had to clarify if he was taking our drink orders. or our food order. He seemed so displeased and appeared to be so unhappy that he is at work. We ignored that demeanor, perhaps he has a problem or undergoing some challengesn....so we ordered our food . I ordered the grilled lemon pepper catfish with green beans and fresh steamed broccoli. Halfway into my food, I felt something stringy as I bit the broccoli , I thought it was the string of the green beans. as I pulled it out , it pulled out smoothly and it was long -it was a strand of hair, it was long and thin. I felt like vomiting . As we notified the server, he just mumbled sorry. By this time, I had to go to the bathroom to try to vomit the food out and rinse my mouth. When I got back to our table, my husband said the waiter will bring me another plate. Did he think that I will be able to eat that food again? My husband requested to box it but I cannot take it home and the thought of this strand of hair that I pulled out of my mouth made me so sick. I left the boxed food in the table .... I am so disappointed with the service recovery. Even with what happened, we were not offered to speak with the manager, there were no sincere apologies, we were not even asked if there's anything that they can do to make the situation better. I have not been at this Ceddar's in a while, I am highly disappointed. When we called in out to go order we were not told it was going to take over an hour. After waiting an hour for our food, when we got home it was cold. We ordered croissants and one of them doesn't look done. Never going back read more

Why would you think to sit a big party outside in August in Texas? Several parties have been sat before us and we've been here for 30 minutes. No one at the hostess stand seems to care. In fact, they refuse to make eye contact with me at this point. read more

The food here is consistently good. The service is definitely not always as good. While waiting for a table earlier tonight we saw four hostesses at the front stand by trying to ignore the phone while it rang seriously twenty times, until one of them tried to put it on hold, failed, and finally reluctantly answered it. Unprofessional, unfriendly and obviously less-than-enthusiastic hostesses. We had a waitress named Michele who was extremely slow with her service and acted as if it were normal and never apologized. At the end of the meal she commented negatively on my appearance (thin and small) which was highly inappropriate and uncomfortable. read more

Had lunch with my family today and my mom and son became very i'll. When I called to notify the manager she argued that they must have eaten something else that made them sick. I informed her that they live in seperate households and Cheddars is the only thing they have in common, beef to be exact. She continued to disagree with me. Cheddar's has great service. I am always seated and attended to fairly quick. The waiters/ waitresses are kind and helpful. The food is good and I always leave satisfied. this is why Cheddar's is on of my favorite places to go. read more

Service and food during their busy times leaves alot to be desired. On our first visit, my husband ordered chicken fried steak. It was raw which I've never seen before with chicken fried steak. By the time we caught the server's attention, it was so late that waiting for a new one didn't make sense. The server did take my husband's meal off the bill without us asking which we appreciated. After about 7 months, we decided to give this location another try. Unfortunately, our waiter was training another and they both kept walking by our table without stopping. Our drink order was taken immediately and then we waited and waited for 45 minutes . About the time we decided to ask anyone who passed by for a ticket so we could go to the fast food place next door (I'm a type 1 diabetic, had already taken insulin in anticipation of eating and was getting extremely low), one of the waiters came by and took our order. I ordered the chicken pot pie and no roll was included. That roll is one of the highlights of the meal. So disappointed and we won't be back to this location. read more

We have eaten at this location a great many times and have always praised the restaurant and the staff , however Sunday was a different story. They now open the restaurant at 10:30 on Sunday and we entered the restaurant shortly before 11AM. There could not have been more than 20 people ahead of us when we were seated. We ordered and then we waited and waited for our food. While I am sure it was not more than 20 minutes it seemed like an eternity. We have never encountered this slow service at this location. We emptied our drink glasses before the food arrived. Finally another server brought the food to us and the food was warm and good. Our drink glasses were empty and it was minutes before the waiter came to our table and ask if we needed refills. DUH!!!----Our glasses were empty and we were not nearly finished eating. Then we noted what the problem was. The waiters were congregating at the end of the hall close to an exit door and no one---absolutely no one was getting good service. Finally one of the waiters broke from the group, walked right past us and at least a dozen other tables to a waiters stand however he picked up a can of Coke and begin to drink it. He finished then went back to thee area that he had left. Don't know what management is thinking however I don't think it is appropriate for a waiter to be drinking Coke at the waiter's stand when he should be waiting on tables. Just my opinion and I am sure he has a different opinion. We finally received the check after we declined to order desert. When we left the restaurant was almost full of customers. Went there to celebrate my mothers birthday. Customer Service is non existent there. We had a party of 12 and we were told that at least half of the party had to be present in order for them to start seating us. Eight of us were there and the hostess took us to a table that was prepared for seven, we told her we were a group of twelve, she said "oh" and walked away. The 8 of us followed her, and she didn't tell us anything, she went to the bar then came back and proceeded to seat other guests as they arrived... leaving us just standing there without a clue as to what was going on. We then asked and the manager was very rude too! We let him know what happened & he said that "Cheddars has a policy that they do not take reservations and they do not seat anyone until everyone in the party is present." I let him know that his employee just told us that they would seat us as soon as half of us were present & we already had more than half present. He responded by telling me the policy again, completely disregarding what his employee just said! We then asked if he wanted us to go to another restaurant, and he told us the policy AGAIN! Needless to say we left! We called Olive Garden down the street, and they said they would begin setting up a table for us right away so that it would be ready upon our arrival! Never going to Cheddars N. Garland again! The only reason I gave them one star is because I couldn't write the review without one. read more
