Normally, we love this Cheddars, but today - the carrots were not cooked, too hard to eat and also the green beans were harder than the carrots - we do expect these vegs to be cooked - not sure what happened today, since it's only 11:45am...not impressed....:( read more

I called today February 25 at 5:30 PM to place an order for pick up. This was at the one located on 190 and George Bush. The person who answered the phone was very short and couldn't transfer me fast enough to the bar. I understand being busy, but there's also customer service to be considered. The phone rang at least 15 times at the bar and no one answered. Not even a courtesy answer to say we will be with you in a moment. I hung up and called back and buys the person, the same one but no one answered at the bar and her response was he was busy. She transferred me once again and the phone rang at least 25 times and once again no one answered. WOW read more

They are noted as kid friendly here on yelp. NOT! I don't consider a restaurant that fails to have a baby changing station in the men's restroom as kid friendly. Where do they expect me to change my child's dirty diaper? On the floor? On the table next to everyone eating their dinner? read more

When I first moved to Texas, I love going here to eat. Lately, since the establishment was purchased by Darden Restaurants, the quality of food has gone down the drain. My Chicken Alfredo pasta was bland, my husband's New Orleans Pasta was ok. Either they have different cooks or Darden has cut back on the quality of the food. Big disappointment. read more

We use to enjoy going here but stopped awhile back. The service is poor. When we received our food, the hostess had forgotten our silverware and our waiter provided none. We asked for utensils and after 15mins, with our food getting cold, my husband got up and had to get them himself. Another time they were slammed, which I can understand. If you have to wait 30mins and no one has even taken your drink order, busy or not, is pretty bad. We walked out without ordering anything. Last time we went and will never go back. read more

Service was great as usual but my Buffallo Chicken wrapper had little to no chicken in it. Actually dissected two of them and added the chicken to the remaining ones. Big restaurants are always trying to cut back. So sad. Just charge me a little more. I'll be glad to buy a decent meal. But I do however have a problem with paying for crap. C'mon Cheddars You're better than this. read more

English about my sorry, hey. Meal great to have full. Fun of food, welcome your for review the. :D

Great service, food, and drinks . We were able to sit in the bar right away , even on a busy Friday night ! We will be back :)

First time at this location and will no be returning. It started off bad but nothing too serious. We had a large party and was quoted a 20 min wait time, which was surprising to me but ok. Great, only 20 min. Well, it wasn't 20 min it was about 45 to 50 min. We get seated and 10 minutes pass by and we still have no idea who our waitress is. With our extended wait time and with no acknowledgement we went to the front and complained to the manager. They come by and take our drink order. Still don't know who our waitress is, but all the tables around us are getting service except ours. The manager comes by to check on us and we tell her no one has come by yet, she says she will take our order. She doesn't write anything down, ok that's fine, some people have great memories, not really worried about it . Another 10 minutes pass by and some other waitress comes by and says "I understand that no one has taken your order yet" the manager had just taken our order so we told her we had just placed our order but would like to add a few drinks and appetizers. She takes our other order and brings it out. At this point we have already been here over an hour. Some time later yet another waitress comes by (this one is our "real" waitress) and says sorry, it's been busy and crazy and she will be with us shortly. She comes back and says she is ready to take our order. We tell her that the manager took our order awhile ago, she leaves and goes to ask the manager. She comes back and says she needs to take our order again and put it in the computer system. I don't know if the manager "took our order" so we wouldn't complain or what, but they put in our order and it took awhile, so thats probably what happened. We get our food and mine was cold, another 2 had wrong or missing items. I'm still at the restaurant as I'm writing this and we have had so many different waitresses I still don't know who our waitress is, the one who I thought was our "real" waitress isnt. The manager is supposedly going to discount our ticket, which is great, but doesn't excuse or makeup for the service we have received today. Simple acknowledgements would have sufficed. Giving us an accurate wait time at the beginning, telling us they are busy and will be with us soon (when we sat down) something, anything, not just leave us there. This has been one of the worst service I've ever received at any restaurant. I'm an easy going, understandable, reasonable person. I work in retail and have family and friends that work in restaurants, I understand how difficult customers can be, so for that reason I don't make things difficult for workers. But situations like this are just completely unexcusable. read more

Had the worst experience ever here tonight. My family and I sat in a both at the bar. I asked the hostess if she was able to get me water as I have a health problem and was getting dizzy 5 minutes later a server comes over ( I'm thinking to myself I better order everything now given the speed and the fact we have a 5 year old that needs to go to sleep for school) specifically placed our order. Repeated back correctly and asked if we wanted salad to come prior to meal which we said yes. 71/2 minutes later I got my water w s the smallest piece you've ever seen. Then comes ,the well done , not well done , loaded fries as they hit the table our server comes with the salad and all of our dinners. Mine came incorrectly I let him know he corrected with a raw piece of chicken sent it back along w green beans that were sweet. I can't have sugars with my hypokalemia. 6 minutes following my family 3/4 done their meals "Ace", the manager comes of don't let me leave out after assisting the booth in front of us. Explained the issue he said he'd correct it. At this point my family is done eating I'm nauseated and 5-7 min goes by and out comes a fresh plate of food. We asked for drink refills which you would think sitting in the bar would be snappy guess again 3-4 minutes I ask the server for a check. He asks do you want a box I adamantly said no. I got the bill there we no accommodations for the disaster of a meal I'm Fuming at this point we pay the bill and it was just bothering me - I said I'm going to stay behind and speak to Ace. I told him I though it was crazy to charge me for their raw nightmare and that I didn't even eat ruining the meal for my entire family. He at me like a deer w headlights- I said I want that off my bill. He said one moment. I sat impatiently 5 more minutes on one of the front benches and he comes out with the cash for my meal and says here are some ( 2) free queso cards for next time you come back. Now mind you these cards are advertised at the table by texting 6 digits with the word SCRATCH. What an insult. I'm a business owner and no wonder why the company is where it is it's issues like these and the lack of professionalism and customer service. In my eyes the entire 51$ bill should have been comped - also kitchen staff get your timing corrected and use a temp gauge on all meat. Gross I'm so annoyed I am spreading word everywhere read more

I have eaten here about 3 times and it was really good every time. The mixed drinks are good, and the fries with cheese are totally awesome. The cheese fries are comparable to Outback Steakhouse. read more

Cheddar's is my eight year old son's favorite restaurant so, as a family of four, we decided to eat our family dinner at Cheddar's off of N. George Bush in Garland, TX. On Saturday night, June 1st, 2013, we did not have a good experience at this Cheddar's location. My two kids love the croissants with honey butter, so we ordered six. Our waitress gives us six cold croissants with honey butter that looked like icing for a cake. So, we sent it back for fresh croissants. We proceeded to order our food. We all received our food and began eating. After two bites of seasoned rice, my husband pulls out a long strand of blond hair from his rice. My husband could no longer finish his food and he found the manager to complain. The manager never came over to our table to apologize to our family. After this incident, my husband was so irritated by the situation that he does not want to patronize Cheddar's anymore. On the other hand, I decided to give them another chance and that was a mistake. On Thursday, June 6th, 2013, I placed a to-go order for (1) salmon dinner portion and (1) salmon lunch portion. We I arrived to get the order I noticed the restaurant was messy and in disarray. Needed to be swept and straightened up. Tables were not cleaned well. I preceded to the bar to pick-up my order. The attendant showed me the salmon plates. I was dissatisfied that my salmon lunch looked messy and shook up inside the to-go container. I told the attendant I was not go to purchase that salmon lunch plate and I that the restaurant cleanliness and attention to customer to service has gone down and that I would not be patronize the restaurant again. The attendant immediately went to get the manager. After five minutes, the manager never came and I left the restaurant. The Cheddar's on N. George Bush used to have excellent customer service and the restaurant was very clean. Seems like, there are new managers at the restaurant that do not care and do not train the staff. Also, I noticed that the some staff members would hide in the kitchen therefore, not attending to the customers. read more

Can't go wrong with this place. Great prices, great staff, great variety of food. Maui Margarita and their croissants are my favorite!!

The management at this location have changed 180 degree, tonight at 8:30 I have waited for my food so long and finely when the food arrived it was cold, politely I asked my servant to change my plate I waited another 20 minutes until she brought me my food by then I lost my appetite and had a couple bites, the shucking news they charged me for the food even though I made a complaint to the manger...my and my family dine at this location at least once a week for the last 9 years service and food was always great and never been treated by management like tonight and last week too, food was cold management as I mentioned above read more

I had been to this cheddars before with family and the service was unimpressive. My friend wanted to eat here for her birthday dinner so my husband and I met them there for dinner last night. Walked in to an overly unenthusiastic hostess who eventually led me to a DIRTY table. There were other dirty tables around so I asked her to wipe ours down (might I add that didn't get cleaned until the end of our dining experience, almost 2 hours later). We ordered and got our food but half of my mine and my husbands didn't make it to the table. When the waitress finally came back, I had to quickly ask her for the forgotten items because she was walking away as soon as she had come back. The restaurant itself didn't seem to care about any sort of Covid guidelines since we were given half empty used ketchup and A1 bottles. Also, when we left, there was a large group of women walking in without masks, when it's against the law to enter a building and walk through without them. Not only was the service bad, but I could tell that cleanliness and following the minimum guidelines was not a priority. People are hesitant to go out to restaurants because of places like this, which is unfortunate for the restaurants who are going above and beyond to accommodate. I will never come to this cheddars again and I would advise you save yourself some time and just pick a different restaurant. read more

Service was extremely slow, the food was cold and we had to ask for clean silverware several times because the "clean" ones they brought had dried up food particles. Drinking glasses smelled like wet dog. Just a dirty place to eat. Will not go back, ever. Too many restaurants in the DFW that care enough about their customers to do a much better job; both with food preparation, service and quality of food. read more

Pretty good customer service along with pretty good food! nothin too fancy here.

This is your typical family night out restaurant. I highly recommend Cheddars because it is a family friendly restaurant with a healthy environment for your children. Typically I am seated quickly on a relatively busy Sunday. The pricing is absolutely a very convenient deal rounding 8-10 per plate. The portions the entrees serve you are giving you a lot for your money. It usually leaves me full, while also I am able to take the left overs to go and eat it for dinner the next morning. Being a casual cafe, simplifies dinner for picky eaters and also gives you a large variety of selections. In the refreshment department it hits every craving you could possibly have with all its fruit infused teas and lemonades. The desserts are absolutely delicious, I would definitely recommend Cheddars for your next night out. read more

Cheddar's Scratch Kitchen - American Near Me - Garland, Texas

Decent food at a decent price. Their portions are huge. Plenty of bang for your buck. Can't go wrong with their chicken or salads.

I had seen Cheddars around for years before ever actually eating at one. They keep the menu so safe that it borders on dull and unimaginative. One could take their grandmother or their 6 year old niece here and keep them satisfied. The food is very traditional American and southern style. Steak, burgers, pasta, chicken, and fried stuffs dominate the menu. These things can all be done well, but something just lacks here. It's just so vanilla, no presentation, no pizazz. The atmosphere seems to be stuck in the 80's for whatever reason. Cheddars is not terrible, but it just seems to be lacking something. Their price are very low, with only a handful of items over $10. They seem to stick to freeway exit ramps, much like Denny's and Cracker Barrel. I think there's about half a dozen of them along 635 between airport and the Garland/Dallas border. My brother was coming in from back east one year and even commented on their ubiquity. read more

We went today after church for a father's day lunch. Although it was extremely busy the service was great and the food was delicious. We go here for the Monte Cristo. It was one of my favorites at Bennigans years ago. The food is always hot and the portions are huge, especially for the price. We tried the spinach dip today and it was one of the best I have eaten. Probably one of the cheapest too. To sum it up, food, service and atmosphere was great. We love this Cheddar's. The menu has everything from burgers to steak and seafood. Something for everyone. read more

The service here is a joke. Waited 20 mins for drinks and did not get straws. If could I would give them no stars it's that pitiful.

Cheddars is like yesteryear's Chilis. It's good, it's filling, it's warm, and you know what you're getting. This one is nice and the service is always GREAT. I never run out of tea and the cheddar's croissants always come out piping hot and deliciously smothered in yummy buttery goodness. We go here occasionally with the in-laws and have yet to have a bad meal, bad waiter/waitress, or a bad drink. Waits are a little intense on Friday nights (especially during HS football season) but the rest of the time, we've never waited over 5 minutes for a seat. The only odd thing about Cheddars, they did away with a kids meal/colors/etc, but don't have the screens that other restaurants are doing. It's a bit odd. Their monte cristo is amazing, same with the fish and the caesar salad. Flavored lemonades, teas, and unique (and not crazily priced) margs and other drinks. Thanks firewheel cheddar's for being an unexpectedly good food for a chain restaurant place! read more

This was my first time going to any Cheddar's Scratch Kitchen restaurant. I must say I was very disappointed. I was excited to see all the yummy food choices on the menu. Especially seeing they offer a Monte Cristo sandwich and meatloaf plate. That's what we ordered. The meatloaf looked unappetizing to say the least. The meatloaf was sooo salty and the sauce they slather on it was too sweet if that's even possible but it was. I couldn't eat it. I actually chugged 2 whole glasses of water to subside the saltiness on my palate. The service was very slow too and our waiter wasn't as attentive as the other waiters at other tables were. The Monte Cristo sandwich was just ok. Nothing to brag about. So mainly because the bad quality of the food I tried I will not be returning. We wasted our money and left most of our food there because it wasn't worth taking the leftovers with us as it would only be discarded at home. Bottom line: I don't recommend this restaurant. Go elsewhere. read more

My honey (Mr G) and I enjoyed a lovely cup of soup and half double-decker sandwich for lunch on Christmas Eve @ Cheddars. Only two soups are offered, but both delicious - spicy tortilla and loaded baked potato - yum! I do think it's a bit strange though..... that CHEDDARS does not offer "cheddar" soup - but that's just me :) And, the sandwich was loaded with fresh meats, lettuce, tomato and cheddar cheese with mayo on the side. The service was spot on, the music at a reasonable level, and the food very enjoyable. I like Cheddars for their large menu and very cozy interior design. Only one area for improvement........ NO SMOKING ALLOWED! I still cannot believe there are restaurants who allow smoking. I admit they must have one heck of a venting system because it's barely noticeable - but that does not mean it will not kill you or their employees. Let's get that out of there where it does not belong and everything will be just perfect! The days of going around stinking like an ashtray are long gone and not desirable for anyone. read more

Horrible experience. Ordered wine that I had to ask for AFTER my food came. Ordered chicken Caesar pasta salad that came with very little pasta, no croutons, and the croissant was old and had no butter. Had to ask for a new one. My husband ordered onion rings that had been ret-fried The catfish he ordered was either rewarmed or had sat awhile and was old. Just awful. Server NEVER asked if I wanted another drink (I had had drank all my water) but was real quick to grab the check when we weren't ready getting our cash ready. Rude as anything. read more

We've been to this location twice now first time place was super busy yet staff handled it great kept in contact with our table made sure we were taken care of and delivered a great service despite the sheer volume of customers. Second time place is not near as crowded plenty of empty tables but service was extremely slow 10mins wait to get drinks got served our appetizer before our drinks arrived. 40mins wait from entree order to table delivery and got our sides mixed up server suggested we just handle it and swap it ourselves. Mixed experiences for a marginal review would recommend the food as it is great but service is a crap shoot take your chances. read more

Late lunch - 3:00pm ish - The server was very slow. Drinks were left empty. I ordered a beer that sat on the bar next to us, the server passed it twice before I had to ask him to go get it after my family had had their sodas and tea for several minutes. I ordered the chicken tenders and shrimp. I was brought the shrimp and ribs. He initially took my whole plate and set it back on his tray. Then I was then asked to use my dirty fork to move the ribs to a side plate, so he could leave my partial meal. I asked "since this was not my mistake and I am using a dirty fork to move the ribs, surely you are not going to reserve them. So can I just keep them?" He said he would have to check with his manager. When he returned with my chicken strips, he never addressed my question. Then he brought the check which contained 2 entrees (shrimp/chicken and shrimp/ribs) just for me. And we ordered drinks to go. It took several minutes to get an accurate check, then he forgot one of the togo drinks. We eat at this location about once every 6 months when we forget how poor the service is. I can neither remember a good customer service experience, nor remember a good customer service response when I take the time to give feedback. I seriously doubt we will be back, unless we forget again. read more

This place is absolutely terrible. My husband and I showed up with our son tonight, got a pager to wait for a table, and decided to go sit in the cocktail area to get a drink while we waited. We sat at a dirty table (Which I understand, I work in the service industry. Open seating means you'll usually sit at a table someone just got up from) No one came by for 10 mins, so my husband went up to the bartop to get drinks. While he was gone, a female server came by and asked if we wanted the table cleaned off. Ummm... yeah?? I continue to tell her we have 4 more joining us and we are planning on pushing another table together with ours if one gets up before our pager goes off for a table in the dining room. She seemed fine with it and said she'd send a busser by. The busser walked by (and stood by, while tightening his apron) our table, 3 times, and never touched the dirty glasses. Our other 4 show up 12 mins later and we're all sitting/standing around a 4 top table, still no server and a dirty table. The manager walks up and asks us where we're gonna sit. I tell him the same thing I told the server and he tells us we can't have both options. If we wanna sit there, we have to turn in our pager. If we wanna sit in dining room, we have to get up right then cause they need to seat the table. What??? My husband holds up his beer and says, "But we're drinking... we're buying drinks.." The manager shakes his head and says "Ay yay yay...." and walks off. So we decided to take our money elsewhere and were kind enough to drop our pager at the hostess stand on our way out. I have never witnessed such poor service and management in my life. Nor have I have worked anywhere that a manager would behave like this. We will never go back here again, sorry excuse for an establishment. read more

I was calling this particular location because I don't live in that area. I needed to know what exit I needed to take to get to the location. I spoke with the hostess I assume at 5:45pm,who told me it was off George Bush Highway and laughed very rudely. I told her I understand that but needed the exit. After she laughed again, she told me it was next to chick fil a. I told her I needed the exit name, and she was talking to someone and didn't respond to me when I said hello 5 times after to see if anyone was even still on the phone. I asked her for a manager , who immediately got on the phone. So I am assuming he was standing right there while she was being rude with awful customer service. His name was Syed (spelling is probably wrong). I asked him if he heard her being so rude which he denied, and I told him the situation . Advised him I will no longer be coming to this restaurant after being treated with such disrespect from the hostess.i got her name, which is Courtney. This was beyond awful. I don't not complain but this was bad enough to definitely reach out. This Courtney girl needs some customer service training severely, and does not need to answer any phone. That's putting it nicely! This was totally ridiculous. Reached out to company as well after this. read more

As far as a low priced good meal, this one is tops. In paricular, the 8 oz sirloin is a delicious steal. My wife likes the salmon. They would do well to drop the sugary breadsticks, the tortilla soup is too spicy, and too much dressing on the ceasar. read more

The food was amazing I love the salads they have! The drink selection is really good. My biggest problem I've had everytime I've gone is the waiters and waitresses. I have to remembered them a lot that I need a drink refill and I get it, it's gets busy but this is the 8th time it's happen. And it's a simple thing it's just tea! But what sent me over the edge this last time is my husband and I are both newly 21 and everywhere we go we get I.D. for drinks. Every time I come here we never get I.D. which is crazy?!!! My sister (only a year younger then me) ordered my drink for me when I went to the restroom and they didn't I.D. her! I feel like that's horrible service cause they don't care! Plus we always have to remind them to get our check when we're ready to go and they give you the run around business. Last time we waited 45 minutes on top of the time we were there to get our ticket. We brought our concerns to the manager about them not I.D. and she could careless. She dismissed us as we were scum under her shoe......honestly it's good but don't waste your time.....I've been going here since this place opened and it's gone crappy. read more
