Horrible service from opening day. My husband and I have eaten here many times since then with understanding new establishments will usually have some kind of issues. But they have been open well over a year or 2 and we are not coming back. We got the worst kind of food poisoning & with a newborn at home we were not well enough to take care of ourselves let alone a newborn baby. Good job at being the worst restaurant in Dothan. Always bad service and after waiting hours to eat (everytime) just for it to make us sick. I'm steering clear of this place! Should have spent less money on building and more on training and hiring. read more

The service today was very good. We were having a late lunch so we ate the lite fare. The food was very good for a quick lunch. Got the half a sandwich and soup; half a sandwich and salad which was very good. The interior decor was much nicer than usual chains. The huge vertical fan in the atrium was interesting. Just left restaurant after 1.5 hours. Service was terrible and slow. We received appetizer after entree. Part of meal was cold. My husband is still waiting for even one refill of tea. Took forever to get ticket to pay and waiter left his personality and manners at home. Went to restroom - one toilet out of service, stall door was so warped barely able to close and then get back out. Have no idea when trash was last emptied...both receptacles overflowing. I have been to Cheddar's several times with good results. However, my visit on 7/8 to the Dothan, AL location has me doubting that we'll be going back any time soon. We ordered the honey butter croissants which are usually delicious. My first bite was fine. Then when I got to the middle it was raw dough, totally disgusting. Just at that time the server (Stephanie) was walking by and she asked if everything was ok (I guess the look of disgust on my face). I told her the croissants were raw in the middle. She said, "oh really". Then walked away. They were all raw in the middle. I guess that was acceptable or common even. Then after quite a wait, probably because of the very noisy ball team that was close by, she finally came with our food. As she was putting it on the table she realized two of the four meals were made wrong. So now half of our table gets to eat while the other half waits. Finally after half of our table are almost finished with their meal the rest of our food comes out. Both of the second meals were steak sandwiches which I have had a few times and are usually good. In this case both of the rolls are almost empty with just globs of cheese. It looked like enough meat was cooked for one sandwich and then they realized it was supposed to be two and divided it between both sandwiches. I guess the moral of this story is you don't know what you'll get if you go to Cheddar's . It's definitely hit or miss. read more

I've have been to Cheddars a lot and the food is ALWAYS incredibly good and the prices are REALLY good. Admittedly when we first started going the service was slow but good. It is much better now. Ask for Tisha. She is awesome! But I would definitely recommend Cheddars & I will go again. The Spasagna, Shepherds Pie, Chicken Fried Steak, Onion Rings, & Fudge Cake are all great. read more

Perhaps the worst service I've had in a decade. The server never actually took any order although he stopped by the table 3 separate times to apologize for not taking our order. Another server eventually took our drink order. After 30 minutes and on the 3rd apology, we had enough and left money on the table for the drinks. It was 2pm on a Saturday. It was not terribly busy at the time. I spoke with a local airport employee about the experience. She reported similar experiences from other pilots. We've been there 3 times now and each time has slipped further downhill. SOME of the food items are very good (onion rings are excellent, appetizers are fair, and burgers are pretty good) but we have not had good luck with most of the entree's. The fried shrimp was more like popcorn than butterfly and the ribeye steak is of low quality (two times - didn't order it on the third). My daughter did enjoy her chicken this last time but it's hard to screw up chicken fingers... Worst part is the SLOW service. I mean incredibly slow. I had to get up and go find my server just to get some silverware (and then to get extra napkins - our server was nowhere to be found, rarely came around, glasses remained empty most for of our meal). The same each time. First time was a very busy night, a holiday if I recall so it was understandable. Second time was a weeknight but still a crowd, so some consideration there. But this last time was not even remotely busy. Just unacceptably slow and inattentive. 25 minutes to get our appetizers, then 47 minutes to get our meals (burgers and chicken fingers), THEN another 12 minutes to get the check AFTER we finished and the server said he was going to get it... Bottom line: Nice atmosphere, mediocre food, bad service. read more

When you read online reviews of various Cheddar's locations the only constant seems to be that your visit there will be an adventure. The Dothan location is no different. You don't know what you'll get or when. Turn it into a party game and place bets with your friends as to what food will show up when. Our food all came at once - salads and entrees. Except for my older son who got to wait another 10 minutes for his food to come. Be warned - the ribs and red beans and rice are spicy even though the menu makes no mention of this. The shepherd's pie is also a bit spicy. The miniscule sides are not worth the money. Our silverware was dirty. We waited to be seated twice as long as the hostess had said we would. Every table around us had some sort of problem with their order. The kitchen substituted something else for what a woman near us had ordered without asking her what she would like because they were out of what she had ordered. By that time everyone with her was about finished so she just went without. If you want a nice dinner, Cheddar's is not it. If you want a completely unpredictable evening, it's perfect. Maybe the hostess will even yell in your ear like she did me. read more

The food was alright and the service was just ok. The issue I had was with the management. I left my jacket & called them that evening. They said they had it and will hold it for me. I go to get it and it "suddenly" wasn't there. The manager said she saw it that morning under the front podium. Why was it under the podium when I was told it would be in the managers office? I understand things get misplaced but don't tell a customer their belong is there but when they show up to get it, its gone. Very disappointed in them. read more

Terrible experience all around. My sister and I came in town to visit our grandparents and they picked this place out. We put our names in and were told there would be a 15 minute wait. 25 minutes later I went over to check what was taking so long...turns out they just completely skipped over us. Hostess said they were going to clean off a table for us (shouldn't the table already be clean if it isn't occupied???) and we were finally seated. Another 10 minutes later the waitress finally came over to greet us. We put our appetizer order in right away. Took them 40 minutes to bring out one order of nachos. When the food came out, they screwed up 2 of the sides which they were pretty quick to replace when we let them know. My meal came with croissants on the side which they brought out to me AFTER THE CHECK. I understand they could take a while to bake, but we had already finished all of our 4 meals. Ridiculous. Wait staff was very friendly aside from the hostesses who appeared to have no clue how to manage their job. All of the waiting (for seating, for service, and for food) pretty much ruined the whole outing and visit with our grandparents. I don't know if it was just a bad visit or if this place just needs to be under new management. Guess I'll never know- first and last time I'll ever eat here. read more

I love Cheddar's simply for the fact that it is easy, quick, and cheap. My husband sometimes works night shift, and he loves to stop by Cheddar's to get take out on his way to work. He normally gets the New Orleans Pasta, which is about $10 - about what it costs for him to eat fast food. The portion is large enough to fill up my 6'5" husband and get him through a 12-hour night shift. I love the Key West Chicken & Shrimp. The meat is always tender, and the sauce and pineapple pico de gallo is the perfect combination of spicy and sweet. read more

I was with a group of five individuals on a Saturday (all above the age of 21) night. I expected the wait to be long. Our group was given the usual square pager and then I looked in the bar area which was fairly empty. We decided this would be our best experience and decided to forgo the long wait for a table. The Bartender was super polite and ensured that we always had drinks. We were also provided small plates to share the appetizer without asking. The bartender also engaged in conversation while attending to all the other patrons. Her ability to multi task was stupendous and I look forward to my next trip to this restaurant. read more

The food is always consistent in quality and quite tasty. The menu is wide ranging, like a diner, but seems to deliver the goods regardless of whether your taste is Italian or Mexican. To me, Cheddar's is where you go for that fine dining experience without the fine dining price. Once you walk in the place, you'll be blown away by the huge aquarium and the nonpowered wind fans that slowly spins. The place has a cool low ambient lighting effect that makes the place look real classy. The first time I walked into Cheddar's, I thought there was no way I could afford to eat here, but once I saw the menu, the prices were extremely reasonable. So far, I've been able to sample a few different dishes and they were all great with nice size portions. The only semi negative thing I have to say is that I've order the baby back ribs twice. The first time, they were cooked to absolute perfection. Everything from the texture, the tendernous, the flavor.. it was spot on! The next time I went, I order the baby back ribs again.. but this time they were good.. but not great. It was still cooked to perfection, but the flavor itself was bland. We went to celebrate our daughter's birthday and we waited for an hour and a half to get our food, while other people came in and ordered, ate, and left. The people next to us got chicken fingers as did we and they got there 30 minutes after us and left well before we got ours. The waiter just said he didn't know what was going on in the kitchen, but he never offered a discount nor did we ever see a manager. I am so disappointed! I contacted them by email and was told I would hear back from someone and it's been almost 2 weeks. So much for them caring if they lost our business as well as our family and friends! read more

We waited till a forth employee came up who nerver made eye contact and just mumbled how many ? It was crappy customer service !! Went to Cheddars for the first time a couple nights ago and I would have to say that I left very satisfied. The outside of the restaurant gives the appeal of being very expensive when In fact it is about the same if not cheaper than Chilis. Second, the food was delicious and the portions were enough to fill me up. Plus they had huge drinks for a good price. The only complaint I had was the wait time. Our waiter was in a different section and seemed distracted. But overall I will come back again. read more

This has to be the worst Cheddar's we have been to. Too start off we get to the restaurant and people are waiting in line, we thought they were busy. We get up to the front desk and ask how long the wait will be, tables open all over the restaurant. The hostess said it shouldn't be long. She (Hostess) said that the manager told them to hold up on sitting customers, so that the kitchen could catch up. So we go to the bar and order a drink, after sitting at bar for about 10 minutes we are seated. We read the menu decided what we want and wait for or waitress. And we waited and waited. Now it has been about twenty minutes with no waitress even for drinks. So my wife gets up and goes to the front desk to ask for someone to wait on us. After a few minutes a waitress comes over to wait on us. She say's she didn't know anyone was at this table. Yea right, she had been to the table behind my wife 3 times and the table behind me twice and did not see us. (WOW) So we finally get to order. The food comes out and the butter is not even melting on the bread, the bread was cold and hard. I had the Country Fried Steak it was the worst I have ever had. We love Cheddar's most of the time, but will never go back to this one. Also every glass we got was dirty with smudges on them. Zero Stars. read more

I am home visiting my Family for the holidays and we decided to go to Cheddars to eat. In the past I have enjoyed dining at Cheddars, but today was an awful experience. We were seated 2:50 pm and it took almost 20 min for a waitress to come over and greet us. When she finally came over to our table she gave us straws but didn't take our drink order. Mind you we were ready to order our food. She then came back about 10 min later not to take our food order but take our drink order ( 30 min after being seated ). By this time I was irritated because the waitress had no people skills her attitude was short and rude. I had to tell her that we were ready to order our food, oh and by the way we still had no drinks. We ordered our food and drinks at the same time. We ordered salads and my niece ordered a steak. 30 min goes by and nothing from the waitress. 45 min goes by still nothing from the waitress. 1 hour goes by nothing from the waitress so I finally go ask how much longer was it going to take ( the restaurant was almost empty so were you expecting quick service). Her response was " it shouldn't be too much longer and I'm going to check" mind you an hour has passed already. Another 15 or so min goes by and still nothing. My brother and I asked to speak to the manager. The manager comes and we explained to her that it's been over an hour since we placed our order. She says she's going to check to see what the hold up is and she'll be right back. She never came back with a reply. By then I was ready to get up and walk out. Our food finally comes and the crispy chicken in my salad was cold and it was obvious that it had been sitting in the kitchen for a while. They tried to give us some excuse as to why it took so long but at this point I was done. They never offered an apology or anything. The manager didn't even come back to our table. I'm disappointed in the service, management and staff of Cheddars of Dothan Alabama. read more
