Great food! Great prices! Huge portions! Everything I've eaten here has been good. However, I usually end up going back to my old standby, the chicken pot pie. It is hands down the best chicken pot pie ever! The staff here is friendly as well. We usually sit in the bar area since we end up there during peak times. We did have a time when it took a while to get our food, but we found out it was TTU graduation day. So, it was really busy. The food really does taste like it's made from scratch. The star - system is totally subjective, of course. Three and half stars. This was our first experience with Cheddar's and we were impressed. Chains are not our favorite dining choice, but sometimes you take what you can get and this place had several positive reviews. Very pleasant - the atmosphere and staff were great. I had a double-decker club sandwich on potato bread. The side was a broccoli casserole. Very tasty. Wife had the grilled chicken salad with lime dressing. She loved it. Cheddar's- the true American restaurant. I frequent Cheddar's whenever I'm around one. The Philly cheesesteak is my go-to, but the salads and the spicy chicken wrap are great too. The best thing about Cheddar's is that you pay the same price or less than you would at Ruby Tuesdays, O'Charley's, or Appleby's, and get so much more food. There is another Cheddar's in Mount Juliet, TN outside Nashville. You won't regret visiting this place. read more

Great prices... Reasonably sized menu.. burgers, steaks, margaritas, shrimp. Etc. Mid-range to low end wine list. Good selection of adult beverages. Burgers ONLY cooked medium-well - this is a pet peeve of mine - I want mine med-rare. All in all, a good choice when traveling on I-40. My steak was cooked perfectly, but a bit of a tough cut. I really like this restaurant. Stay away from the cocktails though unless you want to pay an arm and a leg, not worth it and no buzz. Also soft drinks are $3 so drink water. The Philly is really good. The food overall is good and I recommend giving them a try. It can be a bit pricey but the quality is there. read more

horrible service, I had the blond curly haired server in the bar area, not busy at all but was served the appetizer with no napkins, then served the meal with no silverware, when my son asked for a spoon(as he was running past us) to eat his rice(which should have alerted the server that we didn't have any) I also asked for mayo for my chicken sandwich. When he brought the spoon he dropped off the ramiken of mayo with no way to scoop it and put it on the bun. The menu stated that the chicken sandwich came with mayo so I did not ask for it up front. after getting served our meals we sat for 15 minutes before he stopped back and asked us if we needed anything. read more

This is a franchise food company similar to that of Apple bees. American style barbecue and steak. Ordered the ribs and chicken, the ribs were appropriately greasy for the smoke offered only one type of sauce for both chicken and ribs. The chicken was juicy and mostly flavored with the barbecue sauce. This is a family friendly restaurant perfect for picky eaters. The food quality of the service and the atmosphere is very friendly and highly rated very consistent. I gave this a four star because it is not a small business it is not a place where they take their time to create something magical. I read the reviews and so we tried it. Reasonable wait for a table. Waitress was great. I got the ribeye, big mistake. It was cooked as ordered, but had no taste even with sauce and was extremely tough. My wife got breaded shrimp and was well please with the quantity and quality. Me and my sister went together to eat at Cheddar's. I was going through the non-alcoholic drinks. I ordered a non-alcoholic mud slide, which I had ordered this drink before. This time I got IDed. When I went to explain it was also on the non-alcoholic list is when things got even more weird. Come to find out they don;t make them anymore but they are still listed on the menu. So the manager came out and talked to us. I got a milkshake that kind of resembled the martini version of it in a regular glass. They was actually very nice about it all. The food was awesome. I ordered my steak med-rare and it was perfect. Our waiter was very nice and funny. I love it when the waiters try to be at least a little funny. They take American Express. Honestly a 1/2 star is more than they deserve! My family and I ate there tonight if you want to call it that. We were seated quickly and then sat and waited 10 minutes before our waitress arrived to take our drink order. Onion rings for an appetizer. Huge pile of grease with possibly some onion in there. Ok maybe the entrees will be better.... WRONG! The food we ordered tasted awful. Chicken fingers... Butterfly Shrimp and fries. All greasy and tasted old. We expected some grease as it was fried food but this was old overly saturated clog your arteries kind of grease. We didnt even come close to eating all of our food. This place is great! I recently moved to Cookeville and had never heard of cheddars. It had been hyped up quite a bit but I didn't expect it to be true. I ordered the new orleans spicy alfredo and broccoli casserole. It was excellent! To top off the great meal, our server went above and beyond. Offered to bring multiple replacement dishes out for my two little cousins if they didn't like something, very polite and friendly, and completely on top of his job. I don't understand why a restaurant called Cheddars is so skimpy with their cheese dip. We ordered the queso dip with chips. The dip came in a tiny cup not nearly big enough to dip into nor generous enough to last with the chips served on the side. So when we asked the waiter for more cheese he said, "Sure, but you have to pay for it." Now that is cheesy. We also ordered the tortilla soup in a bowl. We ordered curbside from a Very limited menu. Appetizer,salad and steak. They have no desserts on limited menu. Ordered tea and water. We were told it would be 15to 20 minutes. They brought out about 5 curbside orders while we waited. Waited 45 Minutes no drinks were with order because they said they had no tea brewed. They said we were not charged for it but we got no receipt so not sure. Good food but had to warm it again when we got home. Will wait til they open again to get food here again. I LOVE Cheddars. The menu has a wonderful variety of traditional American Cuisine at reasonable prices. Portion sizes are great. Desserts are HUGE (it takes three of us to eat one). My favorites are the Key West Chicken and Shrimp and Chicken Tender basket. The Salmon is a close third. Cheddars is one of my favorite places to eat in Cookeville. They have a wonderful atmosphere. They also have wonderful food at great prices with huge portions. I always have enough for the next day. Visiting from Los Angeles to see my very talented niece perform in the Tennessee Tech. Univ. orchestra playing flute and clarinet recently, and the whole family decided to go to Cheddars at the last minute. We got there about 10:30 pm (closes at 11:30 pm) so the staff were cleaning and doing their side work. All six of us were seated and waited upon by Tatum who was very helpful, polite, and friendly. Three of us ordered club sandwiches which really were awesome and big enough portions with fries to share. My niece also ordered their cookie desert which looked just insane and also which she apparently seemed to thoroughly enjoy. Tatum came by often to make sure that our drinks were always filled and everything was fine. This was my first time ever visit to a Cheddars and would highly recommend.
