BLUF: Generally a safe choice, though it can take a while. Cost is reasonable. When it's busy, use the open seating in the bar as it's almost always been less than 5 minutes this way. I've eater here many times over the last year or so and the service has always generally been very good as has the food quality. I say generally, because this last experience was the poorest I've had in some time now. The restaurant wasn't very busy when we arrived and ordered and the food still took nearly 40 minutes to come out. Normally, I wouldn't care that much, but we were told our food was on the way out at about the 10 minute mark. When the food did come out, the pork chop was about half the size expected (ordered this here before) and the extra gravy for the country fried chicken was missing. In fairness the waiter offered to have a new pork chop made, but after a 40 minute wait we weren't about to wait even longer. I went to Texas A&M so I was excited to see a Cheddar's in Ohio. The food is really good but the service was slow. Seemed about a ten minute wait just to get drinks although the crowd was moderate. It was just a clump of bland grilled chicken thrown in the center of a basic, boring lettuce bed with a few cosmetic vegetable fragments thrown in. My son had the kids burger, which was overcooked and hard. We were so tired and hungry by this point, we didn't bother to send it back. My husband & I went here for the first time for Sunday lunch. It was crowded but we were seated within 2 minutes. Our server came to our table immediately & took our drink order. The lunch specials were good on the weekend so my hubby ordered the 3 piece fish & fries with coleslaw (dinner portion had 5 pieces of fish). I had the redfish which was served on a bed of rice & came with 2 sides (I chose house salad & broccoli). My salad arrived quickly with a croissant on top which melted in my mouth. The salad was nice & fresh and was bigger than I expected. The blue cheese dressing was divine with big chunks of blue cheese. Another server showed up with our food but when she put the plates down, it was not ours - oops! She took them back immediately but left a plate of 4 croissants. We didn't mind because those croissants were to die for! We were charged $3 for the croissants (though we didn't order them) but our server promptly removed the charge. She gave us excellent service. Our correct order arrived a few minutes later. My redfish was delicious & there was an ample amount of broccoli on my plate which made me happy - love my green vegetables. My husband's fish was good as well. We laughed when we saw his side of coleslaw - it was a heaping bowlful! To top it off, 2 homemade chocolate chip cookies were given to us since it was our first visit - yum! My husband described it as good old American cooking & I agree. Came in to try and sample. First time visit. Initial table srrvice was a little slow. Seemed busy for a lunch crowd, but; tables not really laced with noon time biz-like folk. More of a seniors crowd, "out for lunch" crew. So, the current lowdown is Cheddars is /was derived and inspired from an ownership in Texas, sticking to a "made from scratch" type of menu offering. Nothing real super fancy...more like what you would fix-up at home. Menu had dishes for fish, beef, chicken and pasta. Nice bar, featuring thier own mixes to yummy looking cocktails. Now the real skinny...the food! Very good. I had the Philly Steak and my wife, the Monte Cristo... what she was very excited to see on the menu since she hadnt had it for a number of years and I brought back fond memories of something...she was delighted! The portions were great and the taste was awesome! I will recommend this place ..sure would. I will like to come back and maybe try dinner one time ...or two ...or maybe three. I have had a few things in my few visits, but the one I keep talking about it the Monte Cristo. Some places have it, few do it well. Even less do it properly. This is the best Monte Cristo I have had outside of a casino cafe in Vegas. It's battered whole and dipped, as it should be. Powdered sugar, and raspberry compote as it's supposed to be. We were able to find a seat in the lounge without waiting. We ordered the soup/half sandwich combo and a wrap. Both took a really long time to come out. It took a while for them to inform us that the chili was out of season (umm, it's 35 degrees out). Overall, mediocre at best. Waited 45 mins and two tables came in way behind us and ate their meal and paid their bill by the time I asked where our food might be. It was entered 30 mins after we ordered. Manager did not apologize just made excuses that they are human. Great just admit you messed up. Don't turn around on us that it was entered 30 mins late. The manager did comp the meal and made it right but I would have rather paid for my meal and got the food served while we sat there. Don't blame the customer and make them feel bad when someone else messed up, just own it and say I'm sorry and let's all move on. Will not be back. Food was nothing special. read more

Hello my foodies!!!! Today my lunch adventure is taking place at Cheddar's scratch kitchen! I sat at the bar and was greeted immediately by Cheryl the bartender. I told her I was just eating today, so she kindly took my order. The lemon pepper white fish with rice pilaf and salad with balsamic vinaigrette was wonderful. A perfect dish for not feeling stuffed afterward. Cheryl is a great bartender! She offered me a taste of their new pineapple cider on tap. Talk about a tastebud wake me up! Like a delicious sorbet to cleanse an after meal palate! I will definitely order this next visit! It was the smallest drink in the history of the world. I ordered a spiked Cherry Limeade and I think they forgot to spike it but not to charge for it. And halfway thru my drink I noticed a large chunk out of the rim. I pointed out to our server who said "I'll take that glass out of service when I take it off the table" instead of "I'll bring you a new one" or "I'll take that off your check." Total fail. Ordered take out - paid extra for an extra side. Got the food home- extra side was omitted. Called the restaurant and - after getting disconnected the first time- spoke to a lady - Alicia I think was her name- who - when I asked - identified herself as a manager. I explained what happened- and that this wasn't the first time it has occurred. She said she was at the host stand - and would need time to look into it. She took my name, and email and said to allow 48 hours. She never said what she would do- she did apologize but rushed me off of the phone. This was Friday 1/14. Today is Monday 1/17. It would appear that Cheddars has had a bit of a facelift since the last time I went to one in Mt. Juliet, TN! The newly opened Cheddars in Centerville, OH seems to be a hub of Dining activity! When we arrived the place was packed inside and out. Through a fluke (or serious table luck) it seems that our intended 30-40 minute wait for our party of 5 was reduced to a short 10 minutes! (A party of 10 that arrived around the same time as us wasn't seated until we were about finished with our meal). If you are coming here, make sure you don't mind the wait, because as of this writing the place is BUSY. Our server was obviously a bit bedraggled because of the number of people, but she kept her wits about her and everything was delivered promptly and correct. I've had it before, but the Jalapeño Cheese Burger was as good as I remember. Nice and spicy. For anyone looking for a good chain restaurant to eat at, I'd say that Cheddar's is a great choice, but if you want someplace you can walk right into, right now you should probably avoid it. I can not say a negative thing about this place. First time and was taken back by the beautiful stone and decor. We did not have to wake even though the parking lot had a ton of cars. When you walk inside you realize the place is huge! We were immediately greeted and taken to our seat. Our hostess was always there and very good. The prices are shockingly low. The food was shockingly so good! They put the details into every dish...especially the house salads have a warm delicious crescent roll. The alcoholic drinks were huge and cheap! Wonderful experience all around! We stopped in for lunch this past weekend and had a small wait for a table. We were asked to wait in our vehicle as there is no standing allowed. We had a great male server who was on top of everything! We ordered a caesar salad, chicken finger meal with french fries, corn and green beans. Everything was great! Been here twice and each time I've had great service and great food with reasonable prices. First time I had the ribs and I have no complaints. This last time I had the chicken and shrimp over rice. Highly recommend this place! If I had to complain about anything, I would say the noise levels are very high if they have a packed house (which they normally do). I wanted to like Cheddars a lot more but I can't give this place more then 3 stars. The restaurant does get pretty busy and there was a pretty long wait the times I've been so keep that in mind. The food isn't anything to write home about. I've tried their burgers (Pretty solid) and also their ribs (not good). The main issue though other then the avg food is the service has been really slow each time and not very attentive. I do like the decor, very modern and there's a nice bar. They were out of Coke Zero sugar, so I had water, this really started me off on a negative vibe, especially since we, a party of 7 waited 45 minutes for our food on a Wednesday night.
