Worst experience of any Cedar Rapids restaurant. We were seated quickly, but that is where the service ended. We waited 15 minutes before the waiter took our drink order, meanwhile, several staff members were standing around laughing and playing on their cell phones. 30 minutes later our order arrived. Our cheeseburgers were a blob of grease. The cheap plastic cheese was not melted and the hamburger was raw in the center. The food was disgusting!! I would recommend one of the fast food establishments over cheddars any day. read more

Absolutely do not waste your money here. Went twice and both times it was miserable service and food was not good. Catfish bites were crispy on the outside gooey drippy on the inside. Umm gross. One bite and i wouldnt touch it again. Learn how to cook. read more

Nice environment. The staff is friendly and outgoing. I have eaten here several times. In the restaurant and in the bar area. By myself and with other guests. I have had several servers all have been very good. This is truly a great place for a casual dinner or lunch. The chicken fried chicken is a must have. Grilled salmon is also very good. They offer lunch and diner size portions all day long. This way you may pick the size of your portion. Nice touch. read more

From the moment we walked into the door for lunch, we could tell something was off.I asked if we could sit in the bar, one of the three behind the counter said sure. There were options as to where to sit so we sat in the bar. Within a few minutes, the "manager " came to our table and told us that the bar meant the counter. I found myself apologizing to the manager and asked if she wanted us to move. She said oh no, we were fine. As frequent customers we were a little felt embarrassed. A very nice man came to our table with what appeared to be new menus with new items. I noticed many new items so I ordered what appeared to be as close as our ordered I ordered potato soup and a patty melt without thousand island dressing. Our food came relatively quickly. My soup, was awful. Small tiny potatoes an onions. Horrible. It was my favorite! My husbands sandwich was the size of a junior burger 4 bites tops. When the. Waiter came but I lifted my bun full of thousand dressing! They also didn't bring my husbands fries also jr size. The waiter said I'll send the Manager over. As if I hadn't been embarrassed enough. I asked her if we were being punished enough for not sitting in the wrong section. She appropriately apologized and long after she took my sandwich a left me with limp and greasy potatoes we waited. After waiting long enough and my husband was long done, I asked the waiter to send out to go box. He did and she comped my patty melt. When we got home and I looked in the box I got a new top bun aa poor effort to SCRAPE of the thousand island dressing. Come to find out Olive Garden bought Cheddar's and no more scratch kitchen. We had a great experience at Cheddars last weekend. We sat at the bar and had a couple of cocktails and ordered dinner. Bartenders are nice and down to earth. I ordered the ribs and the hubster ordered chicken alfredo. Ribs were the bomb. Tender, fall off the bone and full of flavor. Pasta, uh, not the greatest. Prices are super reasonable for what you get. Definitely will be going back again. read more

Our first time at Cheddars. Sorry- hot food wasn't hot. Baked potato wasn't even hot! Crazy. Won't be going back anytime soon. Not safe for grilled shrimp and chicken to be just barely warm on a bed of rice that isn't warm either! Sad that in this day and age it isn't safe to eat out! read more

Overpriced food that I can make better at home. The macaroni and cheese was overcooked and fairly bland; while the steak in my Philly cheesesteak wasn't even seasoned. Their philosophy of slapping more cheese on something does not good food make. read more

We have been to Cheddars 4 times now and have had an excellent experience each time. The servers are friendly and Rachel, the General Manager, is so friendly and professional and always makes sure people are satisfied. The food is great (we try something new each time) and have never been disappointed. Price is fair and the atmosphere is beautiful. Although at peak times there may be a wait, as well as a wait for your food, so be patient, you won't be disappointed. read more

Went in for a late lunch with a friend and waited 25 min for someone to come take our order. We were one of 3 tables at the time. The table closest to us had 2 different servers visit, bring them food, and check to see if they were doing well. We ended up walking out. read more

We ate at Cheddar's a coupe of weeks ago and the food was fantastic. The only issue we had at that point was how loud it is in there because of the acoustics. So, we took my sister there for her birthday last night. AWFUL! First, we were excited because it was 6 p.m. and we got seated immediately. Unfortunately, we sat for a long time. Everything took forever, even our drinks from the bar. We ordered the Wisconsin cheese bites which were overcooked and very greasy. I ordered the beer-battered fried shrimp, which I had on our prior visit there, and recommended it so highly that 3 of us ordered it. It was awful. It was greasy and despite it having been split, it had NOT been deveined. The broccoli casserole was dry and flavorless as well. Sadly, I am not sure we will be returning. The food was ok but the service was super slow. It looked like my broccoli casserole had been sitting out for a while and the chicken tenders were all breading and no meat. When we got our plates fore our appetizer one of the plates was still dirty almost like it hadn't been cleaned yet. read more

We had an incredible experience. We had 6 in our party, and although the restaurant was already busy and it was a Saturday night, they seated us right away. They brought out the food promptly and when it was ready, amazing croissants and onion rings. They have an incredible assortment of options with entrees and sides. I had the BBQ chicken with mac and cheese and coleslaw, which was super tasty. My sister got the chicken fried chicken, which turned out to be a bit chewy and the waitress noticed that she didn't eat a lot of it and she said if she had told her she would have had it remade. She ended of taking 50% off of that entree which was so nice. The prices were very reasonable for the food being homemade and they made hearty portions as well. Our waitress was SO nice. She was personable, explained the menu to us, quick and just all around sweet and great service from the hosts as well. The service was superb and like nothing I have experienced at a restaurant for a while (especially at a place with such reasonable prices). It is a freezing night and they seemed to be providing a hot beverage and a warm place to sit for a little while for people in need as well. So impressed and left with a warm feeling :) read more

The worst service ever. Almost lost a leg coming in their front door. 2 pm and the place was so noisy that I immediately had a headache. We hadn't even sat down when the server asked for our drink and appetizer order. My mother said we needed a minute to look at the menu and the server rolled her eyes and walked away. We asked for ice water, not to be cheap but because we wanted water and she was visibly annoyed. We ordered onion rings to start which she slammed on the table. I ordered the soup and half sandwich and asked if I could have a grilled cheese for the sandwich instead of the Monte Cristo. She said that's only for kids under 12 and that I am definitely not under 12. I said that I didn't expect the kid's price, just the plain grilled cheese and she said she can't do that which, as a server myself, I know is untrue. I said fine and had the soup and salad instead. The soup was described as baked potato with bacon, sour cream and green onions, which I love. Food comes out, no green onions. I ask and she tells me they don't have any and that I obviously can't read a menu. The table next to us had green onions on theirs though for some reason. My son's salmon was so salty that he couldn't even swallow one bite. My father's baked potato was so cold that the butter wouldn't even melt. We sent the fish back and instead of taking the plate away, the server just scraped his salmon onto a plate and left everything else in front of him getting cold. It took 18 minutes for them to bring back the salmon which I know for a fact takes less than 10 minutes. The manager came over and instead of apologizing and taking it off the bill, told us that maybe we weren't frequent salmon eaters and didn't know how it's supposed to taste. Not once was our water refilled, no one ever asked us how everything was, my son went to the bathroom and the servers were standing around talking rudely about the customers. I would NEVER eat here again. Their entire staff needs to be fired and they need to reconfigure their hiring and training ASAP. read more

this is our 3rd visit here...and the service has been terrible or rather non-existent consistently those three times. We decided to try today with our three young kids as it is reasonably priced and the food is good. However after getting seated right away there was 15 minutes of servers and people walking by us and no drink orders or greeting made (mind you we've had slow service already two times before). The table behind us got seated and a server there to get drinks within a minute and still there we sat. We got up and left and one of the hostess at the front removed her eyes from her phone and said "thanks! have a great day'...we let her know our disappointment and we were leaving. it was 11:45 am on a Sunday and there was plenty of people and apparent workers there. It was more annoying because the times before we got seated fine and our food took over an hour and 1/2 to get and half of it was cold. Disappointed this happened because it's prices and atmosphere are desirable for Cedar Rapids and our family outing. We won't be going back anytime soon. read more

While the food was good the service was poor. Our waiter was friendly enough but when he had brought the wrong drink and was asked about this started to blame the bar for the error. Now whether or not it was the bar's fault for making the wrong drink as a customer I don't want to hear a person push blame. My friend mentioned at this point he no longer wanted the drink and asked to just have a soda. The waiter got the manager who still brought him a new drink and again blamed the bar workers! He never mentioned anything about the issue other than the fact that the bar messed up. The waiter then avoided our table, sighing as he had to approach. He messed up on the tickets as well comping my appetizer when it was not my issue and charging my friend for his drink. We tried several times to speak to the manager who avoided us as well. My friend had to physically go find the manager to get anything resolved. Honestly this wouldn't have been so bad if they server and manager had just stopped blaming others instead of owning up to a small error. read more
