I hadn't been to any Checkers in many years, this particular location was probably my last... I recall this location not being very impressive, but I used to love the one in Woodbridge. So, recently I stopped in here for lunch and got one of their "2 for" deals - I tried two of the Checkerburgers, with everything. I also noticed they have an extra large version of their fries and since I absolutely loved their fries, I got it. First off - Placing my order - Was Complicated! Why can't people who work drive-thrus in this country speak and understand fluent English? This is far from being anything offensive, it's honest - I had a tough time simply asking what comes on the burger. While the service was friendly enough, the language barrier was ridiculous and frankly, unacceptable. The food - The burgers appeared to be made with stale buns. They had that texture which is prevalent when they've been exposed to air too long. Could have been because I got there around 10:45AM for "lunch" but that's no excuse. They should NOT be serving from a patch of buns opened the day before. Either way, these buns were no good. The meat wasn't hot, it didn't even melt the cheese. I found this horribly disappointing, as it's the reason I no longer eat at McDonalds - they do this "warmer drawer" mess that keeps meat lukewarm, but not hot enough to melt the cheese. Well, it seems Checkers is also serving meat that isn't hot enough to melt cheese - unacceptable! Finally, the fries - They tasted like waffle cone! They had a sweet and odd back note to them, which isn't what I'm familiar with. I wonder if they were fried in the same vat as a dessert item they also make/serve? Either way, I tossed them out after eating about ¼ of the cup of them. I was so disappointed with this visit that it'll be another 8 years before I come back. read more

Ordered online after work (also at a fast food/burger joint) and the woman, who I assume was the MOD, was extremely rude over the speaker. I was directed to the pick up line and then motioned to the window as the speaker was broken. I was rudely informed of that fact at the window. I was then told that the slushy I ordered was out. She didn't offer any type of substitute...in fact she stared at me and waited for me to ask her if there was anything I could get instead. I asked for a different flavor and she overfilled it so much that it spilled on my legs as we pulled out of the lot. She forgot all 8 of my sauces. Four of which were not complimentary with the meal, I paid extra for them. This is ridiculous. I work in food service, specifically with burgers and fries as well and I am a manager. I called the restaurant and the lady that answered the phone wasn't very pleasant. This location is one of the closest to me and it's always go simple because I want to indulge in their apple pie! 10/25 7:45pm - This must be my week of bad reviews. But today Checkers reminded me why I don't do fast food establishments because the food is never as advertised and the service is poor. I went thru the drive thru at Checkers and ordered 3 sandwiches and asked the lady to ensure that they put enough lettuce on the sandwiches and not just a sprinkle. No mind you, I wasn't asking for extra cheese or bacon. Just a sufficient amount of lettuce. I arrive at the window and receive my food. Of course I open to inspect and there was barely enough lettuce to cover the 2 tablespoons of Mayo on the Big Buford, it looked like they provided me with 1/3 of a tomato . I ask the lady at the window if they could add additional lettuce to the sandwich....her response was this was the correct amount of lettuce for each sandwich. I said is that so, because my sandwich does not look like the pic. The response I received was this is portion control and we will have to charge you and additional $.20 for extra lettuce. I replied, I am not asking for extra lettuce just a sufficient amount to Match the sandwich like it does in the picture. She looked at me like I was speaking in another language . We'll just for that make of customer service I will take my request and additional $.20 somewhere else. And fast food establishment wonder why Chick Fil A is taking over, it's not always because of the food, customer service matters just as much. Me and my girlfriend just got checkers, we got home and started eating it. we got the 8pc chicken tender combo, we got home and started eating it and right off the bat the chicken tenders were ass. no juiciness at all, the only decent thing we're the fries. the sprite pretty good though got the burn in your throat like McDonald's. read more

I attempted to order food for our very large family at the drive through tonight. Now I realize that fast food is not exactly going to guarantee decent service, but friendliness, patience and respect should be a given, regardless. As I proceeded to read off from the app the menu preferences and modifications requested by my crew, the associate, having trouble with her inputting for the order, was assisted by another employee, perhaps a manager; but I did not know. Again, I tried to give my order, and first I was told to tell what was wanted on the food, but that didn't please her; so now she wanted me to tell her what we didn't want. That frustrated her more. At some point, they managed to get the first part of our order. The manager (?) sighed heavily. I don't know what her problem was, why the employees are not able to do their job correctly, or what they were thinking, but I will not be treated like that; I easily spend over $100 in the drive through at any given time, so my patronage should be appreciated. I wound up going elsewhere with my business. This place is terrible. There are better options available with better treatment all around. read more

I love the food here, WHEN the decide to cook it all the way. Big if and when. Tonight I went out here, which is rare since I moved a 1/2hr away and got 2 orders of theor largest sized fries. Got them home, to find them only halfway filled! Seriously? These things cost too much money to be like a potatoe bag. They weren't cooked all the way (soggy) and weren't even close to the top! How cheap and lazy can you get? If you don't have enough fries, at least ask your customer to wait. On a lovely trip back from Ohio my boyfriend had the wonderful idea of finding the Checkers in Fredricksburg, Va as there are none in the Richmond, Va area. The Ralley's/ Checkers brand was prominent when I was growing up however they are pretty much gone now. It was lovely to drive up and see this last vestige of a fast food icon sitting in the middle of a shopping center. Honestly I was there for the fries! I remember loving the unique flavorful fries that were served at Checkers and I was not disappointed (the other food was pretty tasty as well). So if you have great memories of this brand and happen to be around...do yourself a favor and stop by! read more

I had 2 cars in front of me and I was just gonna stop by for a banana shake. Got told they'd be with me in just a few minutes. Waited 15 minutes and the person in front of the person had still not gotten their food. The person doing drive thru still hadn't talked with me. The food here is okay, but the prices are a little high for fast food. It was nearly $20 for 2 sandwiches, 2 drinks & 2 cheesy fries. For a fast food place they totally rock the food. Since it's fast food the burgers have a little grease and are slap yo momma juicy. I almost ordered a chicken sandwich cause it looked good but I needed my bacon double cheeseburger with bacon cheese fries. It was great and I only eat that once every few years.... Everytime I stop by Checkers my food is always hot (made to order) and I can't forget delicious!! I tend to go for 2 chili dogs with everything on it. They somehow have got the recipe to the yummy old Hardee's dogs. They recently just added funnel cake to their menu....I'm in Heaven!! They're the only restaurant that I know that serves them out here regularly. Its always a pleasure stopping here the staff is polite and courteous. With my purchase todayd they threw in some coupons, so it looks like I will be stopping by here shortly again. 2 more chili dogs!! read more

These guys are really inconsistent. The food is always good, but the service varies from excellent to terrible. There's one guy there who apparently doesn't even know what they're serving - he repeatedly argues, and nastily, if you order one of their specials or new items (or basically anything that's not the standard combos), and if you get him you're almost guaranteed to never get straws for your drinks, any sauce for your nuggets, or possibly half your order. It seems like if you get anyone else, you're fine. More generally, they tend to be a bit slower than other drive-thrus. So, basically, go there for great food, but check your order and be prepared to wait a bit. read more

on the way to rappahanock camp grounds and needed some lunch before we set up our tents for the night. thought checkers...mmm that could be good. we ordered the chicken sandwich combo with fries and large iced tea, the 3 piece chicken tenders with honey mustard sauce and 2 apple pies. i ate a hot and crunchy chicken tender...tasted pretty good. then i went for the fries. it woudl have been good if they didn't fry the fries in the same old grease as the chicken or fish or whatever that left a bad aftertaste. bit a piece of pie and the pie was delish. about 20 minutes into eating one of the chicken tenders my stomach starting getting queasy. I was saving the latter 2 pieces for 10 minutes later. sent up the campsite and starting getting hungry again so i ate another piece of tender. 10 minutes later...a little bit more cramping. yup, i think it was the chicken tenders...problem salmonella or something else. i ended up giving the last piece to my dog. checkers need to stop being cheap and change their frying oil a little more often instead of using some coagulants to extend the life of their oil! read more
