I live in the Seattle area and recently underwent a nationwide Porsche CPO search. Through the course of my search, I had contacted almost a dozen dealerships inquiring about various vehicles on their lots, and while everyone was professional, the experience I had was very mixed, both in terms of salespeople/ambassadors assigned to me and dealership policies. I wasn't sure what to expect when I reached out to Checkered Flag/Virginia Beach Porsche, but I was very pleasantly surprised. Not only did they have a vehicle that perfectly matched my needs and desired specs at a great price (which saved me at least $12K if I had bought locally, even accounting for coast-to-coast transport), I also had an excellent, stress-free experience with my purchase with no weird fees, run around, pressure tactics and/or "required" options. Just the price + an all-inclusive doc fee + taxes and registration. My salesperson/ambassador, Ashley Leitz, was absolutely outstanding! She addressed every question and concern I had, worked closely with me through every step of the buying process, including shipping (and arrival), and was also incredibly responsive and just great to work with. Thank you Ashley! I also want to commend the Team Leader/Finance Manager I worked with, Aran Benjamin. Normally, the least pleasant part of the buying process is meeting with the dreaded Finance person; however, my meeting with Aran was also very straightforward and stress-free. The Checkered Flag Hyundai/Genesis service and repair department has been the one really bright spot in my interactions with their organization. They do great work. Can't say as much for their Genesis sales department. Poor customer follow-up and lack of responsiveness has been a real disappointment. Subsequent to this posting, I received a call from Checkered Flag expressing their concern regarding the issues that elicited my negative comments. I believe their concern is genuine, and my experience was an anomaly and is not representative of their attention to customer support. Stopped in to test drive the Jaguar F-Pace SUV-Crossover as a potential new car for me when it's time to upgrade to something larger from my Volvo sedan. I had been texting with a younger salesman named John for a few days after reaching out about a model I found on the website and wanted to test drive. I was under the impression that Jaguars had the same dynamic seat massager options as the BMW but it seemed they don't and they didn't seem familiar especially with what I was asking about when I brought it up. The test drive portion was very easy - no questions asked - I just provided my license and we were on our way - the one in particular that I wanted in color and type needed gas so we had to stop and do that while we were out which provided more time to discuss things like warranty and service package. John was not pushy, he was friendly and personable and easy to make conversation with. He was one of the most pleasant car salesmen I've spent some time with. I was also interested in their electric car which they don't often have in-stock so I was told one was incoming in the next few weeks and they'd text me when it arrived. Well, I got the text yesterday so I'm going to look today! The dealership is beautiful and very well-done and classy. There is an area with merchandise with comfy chairs and beautiful, classy bathrooms with frosted glass privacy walls and dark styling. A snack bar area has fruit, snacks and coffee and sodas complimentary while you wait or while your car is serviced. I was impressed with the styling. I am currently looking to buying a 911 Targa 4s which you very rarely find sitting on dealer lots. I inquired about the possibility in ordering one through this dealer. The good news is that they had an allocation, the bad news, is that they slapped a $21,000 additional dealer mark up (13% above the MSRP) on top of MSRP and required a 1 year service plan (at a cost) on top of the one year service that comes with the standard free Porsche. I have bought 6 vehicles from Checkered Flag over the years and at one point thought they were the best in the area, not any more. I refuse to deal with a dealer that tries to soak their customers for every penny when buying a vehicle, and I can only imaging how much they try and soak you during service. I will be looking at dealers outside of the area and may be even dropping the idea of buying a Porsche all together. read more

I have to say I am a repeat customer. I got a Panamera, about 4 years ago with an agent that was not to pleasant. I go back looking for an SUV. I asked for another sales person because I did not wanted to work with him, but they said no and that I have to work with the same person. Well, my issues with this person was not that he was unpleasant, this time he was so ignorant and was outright racist. He ignored me and later was pretending he could not understand me (I have an accent but I can articulate very well). My husband talked to him and he made a very inappropriate comment about me. Update: Checkered Flag Audi resolved this issue in a timely and reasonable fashion. Overall, I would still be hesitant to service my car here. I ended up taking my car to an indie shop in the DC area, which has been a much better experience. I will commend Checkered Flag Audi for resolving this issue amicably. read more

Charged $700 for an oil change on a Macan s. 1.6 hours at $240/hr when it should only take 0.8 hours.

Not a great experience at this dealership. Was trying to buy a car that we found online but ended up getting a lecture about car pricing, taxes, NADA and Kelly Blue Book. We didn't need that talk about that but more on how they are going to give us the best offer possible. Very pretentious and arrogant. The Used car dealer was talking about how great the deal was and how it was under Kelly Blue Book or NADA. Which is totally irrelevant to the consumer. We were able to find a car a model year newer with 1000 less miles and certified pre-owned for $1500 cheaper. Will not recommend this place to anyone. Ok for my first review, obviously was not happy with the service. It was a one off and after coming here numerous times I can update the review. As has been previously stated here it is nice to have your name pop on the screen when you come in. But to what really matters is the customer service that we have experienced. Everybody we have dealt with since a rough first start have been honest, professional and just plain Courteous. The waiting area is fine, but the eye candy in the lot makes up for it. Taking one star off for the price, but may be unfair since if you own a premium car, you pay for it. But for high end dealerships they are comparable or even better priced. Bottom line they have turned things around for us, and our next vehicle will be from them. Only place I trust for service on our Audi. read more

While I've always loved Checkered Flag Auto, my experience with the new Jeep dealership was awful! The claim (on their site) says trade ins are based on Kelly Blue Book (of course condition of vehicle on inspection is taken into account). I used the link they provided for appraisal, it came back with $40,800 for trade in. Vehicle is almost two yrs old, 6,000 miles, mint condition. Found the new vehicle I wanted, they offered 10,000 less for my trade! So, website is incorrect.... they don't use KBB for appraisals, rather to get customers confidence in them and get sent via KBB site to them. I left, got $38,500 from Southern and my new Gladiator was $4,000 less. PS.... the GM was rude at best! The rich people of Hampton Roads get their vroom-vrooms from here. We middle class plebs need not apply, unless you wanna sell your soul to the Devil and still be in debt to a bank until the End Times. The dealers who work here are the Chosen Ones of salesmen. They smell like flowers from Heaven and wear suits that make me feel like a poor man. I could hear my credit score screaming to run away and never come back. So yeah. This place sells those $100,000+ cars that we all wish we could drive, but know we couldn't even afford the monthly insurance for... never mind the actual car payment. The aforementioned dealers are super nice and the showroom floors are spotless. That's because they've got money out the ying yang. I'm writing this review because in part this is my fault as an inexperienced car buyer, so please take that into consideration as well. 1. Dealership said they would contact previous owner of the S4 I was buying to get the 2nd key so I wouldn't just be stuck with one. Either way, I was "going to get" my second car key, or so I was told. Never happened. 2. I love Audi cars as my family and I have owned previous Audi's. Is it typical for your car to show completely dry in engine oil 4 months after you get it from the dealership saying that they did a complete oil change and inspection? Trust but verify I suppose. 3. I'm now at another dealership getting this same S4 fixed. Why? Because the front tires were apparently "never aligned correctly" so now some really nice tires have bald areas because they weren't ever aligned. All in all, just some of the bigger issues I had with this dealership. Once again, this is my fault as I was naive and should have verified everything the dealership told me, but part of me thinks that if I have to verify everything, why not just get the car somewhere else from a more trustworthy source. Just some thoughts if any of you are like I was and inexperienced at purchasing vehicles. John UPDATE: while driving to CA, wheel bearing was worn out. Called dealership to see if warranty I purchased covered the replacement. They confirmed it did so I went to the dealership near where I was at the time and dropped the car off to get the bearing repaired. Get a call later from CA dealership saying warranty doesn't cover replacement. I called VA beach dealership and pretty much was told "my bad" we read the warrrenty wrong. Cost of repair: 1,090$ Just got the car October 2017... unbelievable. read more

Based on their recommendations I recently dealt with Hunter Nolan in sales and purchased a Jaguar F-Type R and traded my SL550. One Solitaire, one Christmas shopping, the other i didn't see the screen. There was no receptionists. So far the experience has been sub par. We purchased a certified pre owned Land Rover mid March 2016. The sales man was nice but uniformed on the features of the vehicle and maintenance indicators. After we were ready to drive off, we discovered the second key did not work. The salesman tried replacing batteries and never got it to work, instead produced an "we owe you" sheet and told us we'd have to get a service appointment. The first couple days we also discovered the glove box latch was loose and the door seal on the driver side was torn. This is easy stuff and wholly unexpected in a supposedly certified pre own. It remains to be seen if Checker will actually fix the items. Today (30 March) was the service appointment I made over the phone with the person assigned my care back on the 18th. However when my wife went to drop off the vehicle, there was no record of the appointment and she was turned away with a new date of 15 April. So for the first six weeks, we've only one functioning key for the vehicle. So far, the experience with Checker has left a bad taste in the mouth and I would refer my friends elsewhere. We'll see if they can redeem themselves in the future. read more

Purchasing the vehicle went pretty smooth. I was at the dealership all day, but hey, that's what happens when you don't buy outright. Nevertheless, all was good. Afterwards I moved to Boston for two years and I've just recently moved back to the area... unfortunately I was immediately paired with a less than par service provider. I'm even willing to go so far as to say, she's just bad. Customer service was not the problem here, but correspondence definitely was! I couldn't get her to return phone calls or to communicate via email. It was as if she were out of town. No matter what day or time I called, no response. After about a week of this, I asked for a new provider. I was able to get an appointment w/him right away, and only two days out at that. Hopefully he'll prove to be more attentive. FYI, when getting a loaner vehicle, you may find yourself in a similar position as I was. I dropped off my A4 Quattro and received the hideous A4 Avant, aka, station wagon! I was horrified, not to mention embarrassed. It was like a mom van but worse, a mom station wagon. If you're afraid to be caught dead in a vehicle that looks like you chaperon classroom field trips, say something BEFORE you're handed the keys. read more

I approach all car dealerships with skepticism. But Checkered Flag Audi was a great place to buy a car and trade in my old one. Buying my Audi TT was pretty painless. I guess that could mean one of two things: either I didn't haggle enough, or luxury dealerships are a little bit more tactful. Either way, I drove away happy. Had my 90,000 mile service in September. A very expensive service. But I wanted all preventive service done. Low and behold just 2 months later I have a huge coolant leak due to a pipe issue. This apparently is so common in my 2011 LR4 that there are several web citations and YouTube videos about this issue. One would think, if I can find this, then the expert technicians would be aware and, perhaps, suggest replacement. NOOO. Instead, I had to be stranded w gushing coolant out from under my engine polluting the environment. Had to get the car towed. To the hidden, off sight, garage that checkered flag uses to scam the unknowing customer. The car arrived to the center at 4 pm on day #1--no call or confirmation that it arrived. The next day, no call. I started calling about 2 pm. Wondering was my car there? Was it looked at? What was wrong? No response. Left 6. Voicemails. Never spoke to a live person. Finally had to make threats to get an Uber and come down to get some answers. Finally, I was able to speak w service advisor who not only told me about the $750 hose but that oh btw --I'll need a new water pump too and that will be an extra grand. No estimate of time despite the part being in stock. (Again--in stock BECAUSE IT IS A COMMON ISSUE) Recd a call from service Mgr "Todd" who barely apologized and most importantly didn't offer any suggestions to fix the complete lack of customer care. I was also stuck using checkered flag for my Audi TT. I thought I was also stuck using them w the Land Rover. But alas, you don't have to be tied to the dealer. Checkered flag has behaved in a way to earn MY VOTE OF NO CONFIDENCE. Land Rover should pull their franchise. They offer no transparency. I understand there is no crystal ball for car events. But had they offered communication and given me any updates or made any effort to speak w me instead of avoiding me, my opinion and attitude would be very different. I strongly encourage you to go anyplace else besides checkered flag. They have no concept what true customer service involves. Personalization reassures customers they are unique -but when I am speaking for 5 min w the service rep. Supposedly about my car issues--And she asks me" What car is yours?" I know there is no personalized attention to detail. I'm sorry I disregard my instincts to use this dealership for service. I hope you are more selective! read more

If you're thinking about buying a vehicle or having your car serviced at checkered flag Toyota you need to rethink it and find somewhere else. They will lie to you, give false prices online, and mis-information for service. It's the worst experience I've ever had. They advertised a car online for $2000 less than what they were willing to sell it for when I showed up to test drive. I will say that they found me another car within my price range but when I went to have it serviced and requested their free shuttle so I could run some errands while my car was being worked on, They told me that it wouldn't take long and I could just wait in the lobby. 2 1/2 hours later it's still sitting up on a lift when they continually told me just 30 more minutes. read more

Zero stars if we could for Audi Checkered Flag. Our rim was cracked and a new one had to be ordered. We waited 4 weeks just for them to say the rim came in cracked and they had to order a new one. We made 3 trips here, drove around on a spare tire for weeks in continuously got the run around about when it could be fixed. We finally get a call that the rim is in and we're told to bring it in and we would jump to the front of the line due to all the troubles they have us. I show up, no one seems to have any idea about our rim (our account manager was not working that day) and they can't figure out who called us. They get it in and them tell us it's going to be a 2 hour wait because all their guys are at lunch. We will never come here again. Poor management, even worse car records so no one knows what's needed on your car until you by luck can get on touch with them on a day they are working.
