Beef and Spinach with some sauces. The chimichurri sauce was our favorite

We always drive up on the way to football practice. Glad we finally stopped! Since we didn't want to eat heavy we just ordered two, a beef and a spinach. They were SO good! The presentation was beautiful, customer service was wonderful and they explain each flavor for you if it is your first time. I really enjoyed these! Next time I'd order a big box to share with my family for a nice affordable dinner!

Absolutely a GEM of a restaurant! We just stumbled on this place after being in this area and I scanned the stellar reviews... and it lived up to the raves. So cute, clean and nice inside, you order at the counter and they bring you your food. I loved the tablecloths and adorable napkins, I was so obsessed with the cloth napkin I couldn't actually use it. We ordered one of each of the empanadas to split and try them all. SUPER filling. I can't decide which I liked best... they were all incredibly flavorful. The sweet gentleman in the front explained the various types which are actually stamped on the crimped corner of the empanada. They brought two sauces to the table which were very flavorful, my hubby went to town on the spicy one. I loved the little bread sticks and celery sauce they brought out while we waited. We did save room for dessert and split the Strawberry cream and it was so tasty! I ended up ordering three dessert empanadas to go so that I could bribe our doggy daycare lady to keep our girls a smidge longer than usually. Can't say enough about Che Cafe!

From top: SPINACH; PINEAPPLE CREAM; STRAWBERRY CREAM; FATAY Also chimichuri sauce and salsa criolla.

Solid, solid 5 stars. They advertise as "The best empanadas in Arizona." Well, I know they definitely would be in contention. (The PIEbar AZ in Strawberry has some pretty delicious empanadas.) These empanadas are superb. The flavor combinations are excellent. First, I was surprised at how difficult it is to find this place. Apple Maps didn't help. (I submitted a correction.) They are in the Food City plaza, but around the corner from the Rent A Center. Aaaand in the last suite to boot. They have large signs posted on Irvington and in the Food City plaza and you can find them that way. Second, I was surprised at how simple and classy this place is. The tables and table settings, the wall coverings and photos, even the box that I took my empanadas with--all very simple and classy. The gentleman at the register explained the flavors to me and about the letters on each empanada that identifies which one they are. I had the SPINACH, which has fresh spinach, hard boiled egg pieces, onion, mozzarella, parmesan and ricotta cheese. Excellent! I also had the Fatay with the lemon marinated ground beef and various cheeses. So good! For a treat, I got the PINEAPPLE CREAM and STRAWBERRY CREAM. Very yummy! You buy three, you get the fourth free. That's what I did. I ate all four in one sitting. Happy tummy! I highly recommend that you try this out! 5* = A top favorite. Mind-blowing good. I will definitely return and I will go out of my way to go here. Worth every dime of my money. 4* = Outstanding. Tucson-top-tier. Some elements not quite as good as it gets, but it still is worthy of my regular business. 3* = Good experience. I might do repeat business if it is convenient, the only option, the only one in its category, or on a whim, but would not be among the first thing to come to mind. Would definitely recommend you trying it to get your own take on it. 2* = Not so good. Would not recommend at all. Waste of money. 1* = How are they still in business? Stay away at all costs!

Closed during normal business hours, strike one!

I agree with most reviews that the empanadas are flavorful, the service is warm and the atmosphere pleasant. I write this review with the hopes that they can address the multiple early closings during normal work hours. I live in the greater Phoenix area and the last two times I've attempted to purchase empanadas to take home, they closed early. I told my family I would bring home empanadas during my trip to Tucson only to disappoint them twice in a period of less than two weeks! I went on Friday 19 July at 1:34 pm and today, 30 July at 2:24 pm to find them closed for business. They make great empanadas and hope they can find good people to mind the business when there are special events. Reliability in a business is crucial to long term success!

Fantastic savory empanadas. (We were full and didn't get a chance to try the sweet ones.) It's a cute little place with wonderful service. We ordered one of each of the savory empanadas to share and they were all delicious. I'm more into beef so the Fatay and the Beef empanadas were my favorite. The Fatay is almost like a meatloaf empanada with great flavor. Never had this one anywhere else and I was very happy with it. The chicken was very good, but I am not a huge chicken person. However it was good enough I would do it again. The spinach was tasty and had a few different cheeses in there. The Humita was another pleasant surprise. I hadn't had this before either. It has corn inside but is very creamy. My husband said it reminded him of a pot pie. The Empizza I could see all my nieces and nephews loving. It's basically a mini fresh made pepperoni calzone. You can taste the freshness of the tomatoes and it's a nice pepperoni. I wasn't disappointed with any of them and LOVED the little initials they have baked into the crust that labels each one. (BF = beef, EM = empizza, CH = chicken.... Etc) Honestly I am just a little sad that we found this on a road trip so I can't it all the time. We will make this our go to spot any time we are in the area.

Che's empanadas do not disappoint! I'm an avid empanada eater, but have never Argentinian ones before. The dough is different, thinner and flakier than other empanadas I've had, and the flavors are also unique. Owner is very kind and walked us through all the different flavors. Place is affordable and delicious, so I will definitely be returning!

We got 4 Fatay Empanãdas; 2-Strawberry Cream, 2-Caramel Cram for dessert!! WOW!! EXCEPTIONAL!! The owner Dante served us & what personable customer service. This place is an immaculate, intimate setting and of course just fantastic Empanadas. They make breakfast ones all day; different meat selections, including dessert ones. This is a must stop!! You won't be sorry eating at this authentic place! Great job Dante!!

Tucked away in the SW corner of the shopping complex, this cozy spot offers a plethora of flavorful empanadas. The beef was by far my favorite so far but I will be back to try their breakfast and dessert options. Very helpful and friendly staff to help empanada lovers seeking a quick bite or a leisurely meal.

Very good empanadas. The dessert ones especially are amazing. We loved all of them with the apple pie and caramel cream being our favorites. Of the savory empanadas we liked the beef and chicken best. Each empanada is labeled with a helpful code. It takes a little bit of time for them to be heated so expect a little wait. One of the owners took our order and was super helpful in describing what was in them as some of the savory ones were new to us. The cafe is at the other side of town for us but if we're in the area we would definitely stop by.

My sister loved these. It was her first time eating Argentinian empanadas, alfajores, and anything Argentinian.

The food was excellent and customer service is fantastic. We will definitely order again!

Empanadas were hearty and scrumptious. The owner was friendly and explained about how he was inspired to open this restaurant. Clean and quaint ambiance . Highly recommended

Three empanadas served with chimi churi sauce, and a mild spicy sauce.

Yum. I could stop with just that one word but I need to say more. Friend and I decided to try Che Cafe as we had never had food from Argentina. Walking in, the place is bright, clean and enough space for quite a few tables. I was greeted immediately, I explained that I had never had food from Argentina, but had had empanadas. The owner explained what the ingredients were in each one. When friend arrived, the second owner also explained the ingredients to her. We were served small bread sticks with a creamy celery sauce - delicious!!! Each table had silverware, cloth table clothes, cloth napkins, goblets - all perfect. We decided to get three empanadas each and then split them so we could try six halves: spinach, sweet potato, chicken, cherry, Humita and beef. I have no idea what food from Argentina is supposed to taste like but these empanadas were delicious. Chicken with the best flavor I've had in awhile. Creamy corn. Perfectly spiced sweet potatoes. Spinach with a mild cheese. Not-too-sweet cherries that were velvety. The chimi churi sauce was really good as was the slightly spicy sauce. This place will do well. I'm hoping as they get established they can add other foods to the menu so I can find out more about Argentian food. Yum.

Here are the beef and chicken empanadas.

I was greeted kindly when I came in. The menu and how they operate was explained. The food came out hot and fast. I could see part of the prep area in the kitchen and it was exceptionally clean. They have cool artwork on the wall. The two people that helped me were very kind. And the empanadas were delicious. I will be going back without a doubt. Awesome place!

The seafood paella is a true highlight--rich, aromatic, and packed with perfectly cooked seafood that brings depth and authenticity to every bite. It's the kind of dish that feels both comforting and elevated at the same time. The cauliflower croquetas are just as impressive--crispy on the outside, creamy on the inside, and full of flavor. Even if you're not usually drawn to cauliflower, this dish easily wins you over. Dessert was unforgettable. The churro y plato was absolutely amazing, with warm, crispy churros paired with indulgent dips that made it hard to stop at just one bite. Service was stellar throughout the entire meal--attentive, friendly, and perfectly paced, which really elevated the overall experience. One small drawback was the seating. With a reservation, it would have been great to have the option to select outdoor seating ahead of time. The patio atmosphere looked inviting, and having that choice during booking would really enhance the overall experience. Overall, Contigo Latin Kitchen stands out for its flavorful dishes, excellent service, and thoughtful preparation--definitely a spot worth returning to.
