    Green corn tamales

La Mesa has the best tortillas on the east side of Tucson. It is our go to since we are far east siders...if I feel like taking a drive St. Mary tortillas are my first choice. Today, I decided to explore their red chile burros and refried beans. Sadly it was a complete disappointment. Red chile was watered down with no flavor at all. Seriously I can not recommend this at all. The shredded meat was cooked fine but again no flavor. The refried beans with smashed with some whole beans mixed in and they were just okay. No real flavor again. Service is always excellent, friendly and fast. Their place of business is always clean and welcoming. Food was not good...at all and that makes me sad to write this. Edit: I wanted to add a positive on the green corn tamales we bought. They were very good. So out of the three food items we purchase the green corn tamales were a positive!

I was highly dissapointed by these flour tortillas. The texture is not quite there and they feel a little heavier than others. They do have a good flavor though. I also purchased some pumpkin empanadas and they were decent. Goods service, the place seems old and outdated.

This is what the food looked like after I got home all thrown together like garbage!!!

Food was thrown all together like garbage when I got home after I unwrapped the tamale it was small the green chili tamale was way too sweet full of sugar tasted nasty made me want to vomit, beans were undercooked & bland tasting & all the items there for sale had processed oil in them they didn't look healthy at all plus young girl working there had a rude little attitude problem wasn't the brightest bulb in the place nope won't be back!!!

The title of this place peaked my interest, as I'm a BIG fan of homemade tortillas! We walked in and the first impression I got was an unfriendly and unwelcoming vibe. I said, "Hello" twice before the lady (owner) acknowledged and finally smiled. After asking if this was our first time there and we said, "Yes," she loosened up and started talking to us. My husband and I shared a "nacho" plate with their red beef and one recommended chicken quesadilla. They have drinks, but just Kirkland brand bottled water, and cans of sodas. No ice or cups. Our meals came out fairly quickly and the girl who delivered them was friendly. Sadly, our nachos were bland. The tortilla chips lacked flavor and salt. The red beef and beans also needed a sprinkle of flavor. The chicken quesadilla was the most flavorful on our table. Their "salsa" is just roughly chopped tomatoes and green onions. The tortillas that made up our quesadilla was ok. With friendlier service, and a bit of flavoring, I could rank this place higher. I was disappointed, especially because when I read some reviews, they didn't match our experience at all.

I'm from Arizona and missed fresh tortillas dearly. My friend ordered me a few dozens on a Saturday and they were shipped to Tampa by Tuesday. The best mail ivd ever had! Tortillas were still nice and fresh and taste great even after being frozen and thawed out. Highly recommend for the out of towers that miss homemade tortillas!

Omgggg, delicious tortillas. Can't speak for the tamales but I've heard they're wonderful. Fresh baked, packed with flavor tortillas, and a fun variety. They had jalapeño, wheat, and flour tortillas still warm! Service was good. Cash is preferred because they charge a servicing fee for card.

Best tamales I ever ate! Juicy and full of meat. Jalapeño tortillas were also delicious. Prices were great!

These people are rude. Tortillas are not as good as St. Mary's. The red chili is okay but it's about $20 to make a big burrito.

The flour tortillas are amazing. Try to get them while they're still warm. I get these when making carne asada.

Best tortillas in town, but we don't know where you moved to? You are no longer at Pantano and Broadway.

If you are able to go for brunch, I would recommend getting the Chilaquiles with both the red and green sauce! You will not be going wrong with this. I am relatively vegetarian, and so if you don't eat lard, you can also get the black beans as another vegetarian option!

When we entered the restaurant, I was immediately impressed with all of the accolades that Amelia's Kitchen seems to have accrued over the years. Maybe that set my expectations too high. We made a reservation, which I highly recommend, so we were quickly seated. but it did take a bit for someone to actually come and greet us and take our drink orders after being sat down. Then it was probably another 40 minutes before we actually got our food. I'm not sure if it was this lag time that affected the food quality, but several of my items were just lukewarm and some even cold? The star of the show was definitely, the molcajete. This came out sizzling and full to the brim with shrimp, nopales, chicken, asada, cheese, and lots of other goodies. In hindsight, I probably should've ordered one for myself. I went with the chicken mole enchiladas. Again, the sauce was okay but not super spicy, and it was a little cold, as was my side of rice and beans. We also ordered the mini birria chimis to share. and these were just OK, they tasted like frozen food. Overall, if you come here, I highly recommend getting the molcajete, but can't really vouch for any other items. Maybe we'll try it again on a less busy night.
