There not much to say about this cute cafe except that it was just a very sweet experience to go with my partner. I ordered a cappuccino and a dessert (which an employee helped me pick out, so thank you!). And my partner ordered a black coffee with a chocolate croissant. I've had this bookmarked for quite a while and stopped in today to grab some breakfast. Almond Croissant 4 stars Although this was very good, it was not my favorite almond croissant and I probably would not order it again-it is rare that I would fault a croissant for having too much butter, but this one did! It was surprisingly very flat (that's the style of this one) and laden with the taste of oil/butter but it did have crispy layers and a nice filling which had an ever so faint taste of almond . Next time, I would like to try a plain croissant for comparison as they looked more light and airy. Their chocolate filled croissants also looked like a good bet. Gruyere and Mushroom Omelette 4 stars Perfectly prepared and served with a lovely arugula salad dressed with a fabulous honey balsamic vinaigrette (the salad and dressing was my favorite part of the entire dining experience). Served with a French roll. Coffee 3.5 stars I ordered a drip coffee and was hoping for a great bold cup of coffee as is so typically served in France, I was disappointed, the coffee did not do much for me in the way of taste. I ordered way too much for breakfast and ended up taking the rest of the croissant home to enjoy later...about 9 hours later the layers were still crisp, but I still wasn't blown away by taste. Perfect little brunch place for something quick (or not quick) or a small dessert. I ordered the Spicy Oven Baked Eggs. This was made with their house tomato sauce, onions, cilantro, chili flakes, goat cheese and poached eggs. I started writing this review as I was walking out of this business. Last night, my friend and I studied their menu and we were so excited to try their pastries. I was geeked to try their shakshuka. When we arrived, we were the second in line, behind two gentlemen. After a young woman took their order, I suppose she started working on their order. She eventually handed them their order and she began to work on other things. My friend and I just excitedly stood there, at the register and waited. There was another person who was also working. They both saw us. Neither greeted us and when we made eye contact, they both quickly looked away. After FIFTEEN minutes of standing in front of their register and not being acknowledged at all, the gentleman who was working there, took a phone call and approached the register. We were so excited because we thought we were going to be able to order or we'd at least be acknowledged. This guy looks at us while talking on the phone and begins to ring up the phone order! Then, he just walks off!! We were so confused. By this time, six other people were in line. My friend suggested we leave. But, we gave them a few more minutes because I had really made a study of their menu. After about four more minutes, we left and skipped to Urth caffe, my old faithful. I ordered their Mexican omelette with bacon (it came with a salad), a regular latte, and a slice of carrot cake. I'm really sad that I had to write this review. This absolutely was the cutest olive oil cake I have ever had, but I wish it could be less sweet and more moist(like the one I once had in NYC). Such a cute little bakery shop with petite baked goods, sandwiches, salads, smoothies and smoothie bowls, and drinks. I love their amazing selection. The first time I came here, I got the acai smoothie bowl with fresh fruit, dried fruit, and granola clusters, the croissant with strawberry puree as a spread, and the show stopping Le Fraisier strawberry cake. If I were to recommend anything it would be the acai bowl. I feel in love at first bite because it was so deliciously refreshing. The fruit was beyond fresh and the honey granola with the small fruit bits was the perfect topper. And because it was healthy, I had no regrets! Everything was delightful. Service was good and everyone was friendly. The place has a very inviting feel to it with cute little features that make it Instagram worthy. I was missing France and stopped by for a Pain au Chocolat. How disappointing! They clearly use good ingredients; the croissant smelled wonderfully of butter and chocolate. However the croissant itself was poorly cooked. I'm not sure if it was too short in the oven or the temperature was too low, but the pastry was pale and the dough was claggy and dense. This bakery is really special. Probably one of the best French bakeries in California. I highly suggest trying their pan de chocolate. It is DIVINE. The crust is very flakey and buttery and crispy and light. I feel like this is what true French pastries should taste like. Everything always tastes so fresh too. I highly suggest a pastry from here with some coffee for the true Parisian experience. They have beautiful take out boxes as well so they make really nice gifts. read more

Any stars I'm giving is solely for the pain au chocolat and the latte I had. To the woman who was working the register: I'm not entirely sure why there was attitude being served with our breakfast, but if you're not wanting to be in the service industry, please change jobs. The wait time for our one breakfast sandwich was also pretty ridiculous and the whole process of waiting for it to come out was also odd. You wait forever until someone from the staff brings out your food and walks around saying your name. Very poorly organized and not sure what the hype was about for this place. One of the best breakfast, baked goods and lunch places in LA! We've been frequenting this eatery for years. The beef bacon is par excellence, the Moroccan breakfast is hands down the most savory dish in Los Angeles. I frequently order the veggie omelet which comes with salad and freshly baked bread. All of the baked goods behind the counter are savory and delectable. One bite and I am transported to Paris. Chaumont was my last review of 2013. Embarrassed to say, 2014 nearly over and it's taken me almost a year to return but I did and glad of it. A late start day means breakfast, my fave meal of the day, out. The Feta Frittata - tomatoes, baby spinach, black olives & arugula with vinaigrette on the side and the cutest, mini baguette at 10:30 AM was all I needed until supper at 7:00 PM. Order at the counter, pay, tip, get a number, have a seat inside or at a sidewalk table, food is up fast and it won't disappoint, quality ingredients, well-executed, plated... Merci, Chaumont! I have walked by and driven by this place gazillion times and just never tried it. So, decided to just give it a shot. Well, yelpers, this place sure deserve it's stars because I am glad that I did stop by! We weren't very hungry, but just felt like eating so we ordered the salmon poached egg with croissant, and strawberry short cake. To wash it all down, we ordered the Arnold Palmer ice tea and Earl Grey hot tea. The salmon poached eggs was good, but what was really great was the strawberry shortcake...OMG! It was creamy and just sweet enough with fresh strawberries. If anything, I would come back just for the strawberry shortcake...LOL. This is a perfect place for lunch or in-between breaks should you feel like having the munchies or just coffee. You'd order everything at the cash register/counter and they will bring your order to you. I would definitely be back to try other desserts. We came to Chaumont for espresso and pastries and they didn't disappoint. I'm not sure if I was still on a high from our Biebs celebrity sighting out front or if this place is just that good ;) I think it's just that good and we'll likely visit time and time again when in the neighborhood. They were out of almond croissants by around noon, so we shared an almond chocolate croissant - Good, but not my fav when compared to the other pastry filled with chocolate chips - long flat rectangular shape delightful satisfying, chocolate but not overwhelmingly sweet selection we shared. Chaumont is famous for their croissants and unfortunately I did not try the famed chocolate or almond croissant. Instead, I opted for a unique long vanilla custard chocolate pastry that I felt was a little too sweet and not flaky or crispy enough. I was most disappointed with the beautiful strawberry shortcake featured in their Yelp profile picture. It was as beautiful as in pictures but the pastry cream too dense, and the shortcake too soggy. Too sweet too. I will definitely return to try the traditional croissants. They also serve these croissants as cones nextdoor at Chaumont Street. Their new location is an interesting concept - they serve matcha and vanilla froyo in croissant cones (the matcha was yum!). They also serve bowls kind of like Asian Box (steak/chicken over rice) - didn't try that. Overall, Chaumont is a really cute French patisserie. You can snag a seat even on weekends in the afternoon, outside or inside. A bit expensive, but will be back for the croissants. read more

Chaumont is a cute spot on Beverly Dr. with good service (4 stars) perfect for solo diners or a quick to go order. There is also a beautiful pastry display, which makes it hard to pick only one. I tried the following: Raspberry Tart (4 stars) - I loved that the fresh, sweet, and in season raspberries were not covered in a glaze. The delicious pastry cream was light with specks of vanilla bean, and I enjoyed the sweet raspberry gelee in the center. I prefer Republique's tart shell because it's thinner than Chaumont's. However, the tart shell still tasted good and was lightly sweetened. Pain au Chocolat (3 stars) - I like the chocolate to pastry ratio since there was chocolate in every bite. It was flaky on the outside and seemed slightly chewy in the center. I prefer Bouchon's chocolate croissant. Dark Mocha (4 stars) - This was like an adult hot chocolate. It wasn't overly sweet with bold dark chocolate flavor that complemented the subtle espresso flavor. There are other menu items available such as sandwiches and salads, which also looked good, and I'll probably try another time. I'm happy to know I have another option when I have another pastry and coffee craving. read more
