So disappointed in this place over the last few months. Last night we called in a simple order of just a few appetizers at 4:40pm. I was told 20 minutes for pickup. They have a pretty simple Pickup process due to covid. You go in and if your order isn't ready they give you a buzzer and make you wait in your car. No big deal. I get there at 5pm, order isn't ready so I go outside to wait patiently. They are busy so I figure they are just behind. By 5:40pm I have waited long enough and I went back in. Guess what. This is the best Thai food around, hands down. I only wish I'd discovered this place sooner! I recommend the crispy duck, the pineapple chicken fried rice, and the honey sesame chicken. To say this place is a gem is an understatement! The Chatta Box has been and will always be one of my top 5 favorite restaurants of all time. I have been going to the Chatta Box regularly since I began high school in 2014. 6 years later and they still haven't disappointed me. I literally would order Chatta once or twice a week because it was THAT good. I typically order the honey sesame chicken or the rainbow maki roll and I am always satisfied. From all the things I have tried (and yes, their menu is HUGE-- there are so many options), the honey sesame chicken or crispy chicken pad thai/fried rice is probably the best IMO. The dinner portion sizes are fairly large (they give the option of lunch + dinner portion sizes during specific hours). The mango and thai iced tea is also SOO GOOD. The orders come out exceptionally fast and always taste BOMB. I always bring my friends who aren't from around here for the first time and after that, they always say they crave the Chatta Box! If you eat in, they are always hospitable too. Never have been disappointed by the service and they always are attentive & caring to all their customers even when it's slam packed! Not too sure why it took me this long to write a review but do not wait on trying this place!! My review does not do this place justice, you seriously just have to try it yourself. Worst Thai Food Experience in my Life! Simply Awful. I patronized this Restaurant when they First opened 20 years ago or so. It was great. The original owner was great. We had known her even before she opened her own restaurant, the Chatta Box (still love the name). Had many good meals and memories there. Moved away. Years later, moved back. The rest is history. Cold Christmas night. Thought I start with hot soup, usually Tom Yum, but tonight I ordered the Egg Drop Soup. Okay. I asked for hot chili paste! Yey, some flavour. So far, so good. Ordered the Scallion Pancake. Got it after 15 mins. Greasy, doughy, not even cooked all the way through. Bad omen. Restaurant not that busy. Empty tables to be found. I order the Coconut Fried Rice with Chicken. Sounds good and flavorful. I love coconut. Waited, about 30 minutes or more for my entree! Really hungry and expectant. Finally got my food. Tasted it. I thought there was something wrong with my palette. No flavor at all! Plain white jasmine rice has MORE flavor than this! NO coconut flavor at all. I finally got the attention of the waitress, I told her about the issue. Before I could even get my fork out of the way, she literally pulled the plate/bowl away from me and said they will make it "right". I was in disbelief. Ten minutes later she came back with the same food with a few added pepper strips added. Tasted exactly the same as before. She asked me a few mins later, how was it now. I told her. She looked annoyed. Did I say, simply awful food and experience. Got the bill. No comp or reductions. I was very, very tempted to not TIP. I couldn't do it. It was Christmas night. I loooove Thai food, Thai Culture, Thailand and Southeast Asia in general. Have been lucky enough to be able to visit and experience the amazing cuisine of the region quite a few times. Everyone seems to love this place, I've gotten sushi here three times and not sure if I have bad luck or my standards are high. This last time, Tuna in the spicy tuna roll was chewy and tasted funky. California roll wasn't bad. They charge $1.50 for a tiny side of spicy mayo.. The crab rangoons are delicious but small. We also got the sesame chicken and that was the best out of everything. No matter how many times I give Chatta Box a chance, it never really satisfies. This may be because I am expecting somewhat authentic food and this place seems to be a bit too inauthentic. Pad Thai is supposed to be spicy, sweet, salty, and sour, or something like that. This one is just sweet and very one dimensional. Dumpling appetizers is frozen premade dumplings. I've had a few noodle dishes, which are absolutely drenched in a sauce that overpowers the whole thing, and again, are inauthentic. Shrimp fried rice has completely unseasoned shrimp. We were really desperate and got pho from here one time, which was the worst pho I have ever had and tasted like nothing. Maybe this place is good for the area? But it's not great as far as restaurants go. I think they're just trying to do too many cuisines. Maybe they could be able to master one country's cuisine, but not the whole continent of Asia. read more

I came here yesterday for lunch with some girlfriends. It was my first time here, but it was a place many of my friends had suggested I try. I was meeting two friends, one was running about 15 minutes late so the two of us decided to grab a table and order apps while we waited for the third to arrive. Except, after seating us, our waitress disappeared! We never got to order our apps until our third friend arrived, which was 15 minutes after we arrived. This would be my only negative. I'm assuming our waitress assumed we wanted to wait for her, but I wished she would have checked in. We ordered apps, pancake fritters and veggie rolls. Both were delicious! For my meal, I ordered yellow curry with tofu. It was my first time trying curry, and I was nervous Haha! I loved it though! It was so yummy! The meal was large so I needed to take half of it home. I've been here a few times but my first review. I walked in and they were picking Thai Basil at one of the tables. The place smelt amazing. Went with steamed pork dumplings and udon noodle with shrimp. I wasn't big on the dumplings and would probably do pan fried next time for some better texture. Udon dish was great. This quaint little establishment is a doll to eat at food-wise. Their coconut shrimp was just an amazing blend of seasoning and mm mm tender. My complaint however was the actual restaurant itself. The cleanliness and upkeep was satisfactory to my taste. I consider myself a beaut decorator... all you have to do is see my fantabulous siting room with its sheer baby pink curtains and electric blue accents to know. However Chatta Box is not very clean it appeared to me. Just an observation, the floors needed a stern mopping because I know my cat Mufasa's bottom is cleaner. In conclusion.... Food- marvelous. Didn't love my green curry . I asked for 5 spicy and felt like there was no spice at all . Looked like they dumped a whole ton of red flakes into the curry but no spice . I also get disappointed when I see that's how people make their curry spicy . I've had really good spicy thai curry and there aren't spoonfuls of red pepper flakes . Came here based on recommendations and reviews on Yelp. After a less than expressive experience, I read more of the Yelp reviews in detail. Guessing there was a change of ownership or chefs. The veggie tempura was horrifying. I have never in my life had it served nearly burnt (the brocolli was burnt) and the coating on it was really thick.. Like you would get on chicken fingers. Wicked pricey at $10.25. I pried the coating off what I could and ate the veggies inside. The scallion pancakes.. I have never had it served like that. Again scallions on the inspire of a massive amount of batter and fried. Not remotely close to anything authentic. Bleh. We ordered honey sesame chicken (very good) , veggie pot with tofu (ok ), ginger pork beans (good) and chattels box noddles (quite interesting with spinach noodles and veggies.. But the sauce was very sweet and made it hard to taste anything else. Might get it again with no sauce). The wait staff was fairly ok.. Attentive but never asked us how anything was. We just muddled through it, not sure what to make of the experience. We had to bat away flies from our food.. Which our waiter noticed but did nothing to help or offer to reseat us (we brought it up. After a terrifying 5 minutes of waiting for a hornet to go elsewhere) Lunch for four with appetizers and sweet tea was $73. No fortune cookies or mints or anything was brought with the bill. So I have return to Chatta a few times since this review and has extensive conversations with my bartender sister who said I was harsh. The meals in house I have had here have been nothing but delicious, fast and served with a smile. I recommend the Pad Thai (they have a low carb option that is equally yummy), Mee Siam or the Chatta Box Fried Rice. This place is AMAZING! My husband and I drove 30 minutes just because we know how delicious their food is. We shared the scallion pancakes. It was two dense, stuffed crispy balls of dough which was not what we normally see but none the less, absolutely to die for!! I got the crispy chicken fried rice and asked for pineapple in it, which was not a problem at all. It's pictures and amazingly delicious!!! Huge portion so plenty to take home to enjoy again later! My husband got the chicken thai gra prow (spelling??) with a fried egg. It's his favorite and he loved it!! Lots of veggies which is good too! We also got the scorpion bowl for two and it wasn't very strong but still awesome. Our waiter, don't know his name, was funny and really really nice. Overall, LOVEEEEE this place. I met a friend here for some Thai Red Curry and Pad Thai to share. It was some of the best I ever had and service was impeccable. Portion sizes were ample and we had plenty to take home. The prices were a little high compared to other places I have been but the quality of the food was worth it! The ambiance isn't fine dining so I really expected the prices to be a little lower. Not super expensive though and the quality is great! Go for the great food and portions avoid if you want something more polished or to save a few bucks. read more
