I hate to leave this review, but it's needed in light of this restaurant's high rating. I've been here twice approximately a year apart and something is clear to me: The beer is great, but the food is horrendous. If this was purely a tasting room, I'd give a glowing review: Comfortable space and ambiance with decent service. However, we're talking about a restaurant. About a year ago, I split some kind of macaroni and cheese with my spouse. All I remember was it was one of the worst Mac and cheeses I've had. I'm not sure if this was made in-house, or by a food truck as with my recent visit. I figured it had been in-house and chalked up the food truck listed on the menu as an improvement during my recent visit. However, my assumption was wrong. I ordered the original slam burger with cheese. The burger was supposed to be medium and "pressed to juicy perfection," but it was literally black on the outside and far beyond well done. It might have been the worst burger I've had in my life. I couldn't finish eating the burger because of how displeasing it tasted. I'd rather have stopped at Burger King for a far superior burger. A person in our party got the mac and cheese against our advice and was displeased it, which makes me believe the same food truck had provided the food a year ago. My spouse ordered off the kids' menu and got a grilled cheese, which was underwhelming. The other member in our party got chicken tenders and didn't care for it. The only redeeming aspect of our meals were the French fries, which were tasty but not enough to save the meal. I'm not sure what food choices people are getting who leave such glowing reviews. Maybe I'm just ordering the wrong things? I won't find out, because I have no intention of eating here again. However, I might stop by for a few pints. TL;DR 1 Star for beer, 1 Star for atmosphere & service. Food is terrible. read more

BBQ brisket, chicken and pork plate and/or sandwich options replaced by Mac n Cheese combos - come on guys what are we 10 years old! Worst customer service ever. I waited 45 minutes for a basket of chicken tenders and fries which was basically thrown onto the table in front of me. No offer for more drinks. No plates or utensils provided. Server never came back to see how the food was. Had to go ask for the check after getting tired of waiting. Great experience!! Had a beer (Farmer's Daughter Rye IPA) from this brewery a week or so ago at another restaurant and loved it and decided to take a ride and visit the restraint/brewery. Arrived around 1 PM 3/31 with my wife and 19 yo daughter. Ordered a flight of beers and food. All of the beers were great and food was awesome. We ordered the hummus plate, lettuce chicken wraps and 3 of the fish tacos. Also ordered a serving of the hand cut fires and cheese dipping sauce. Everything was spectacular and the price is extremely reasonable. Can't wait to go back!!! read more

There's nothing more that I'd like to do than support local businesses, especially during the heartbreaking decline of revenue in bars and casual dining. I've frequented the Chatham Brewery for years, seeing friends in the community and attempting to enjoy a decent meal. Last evening was the straw that broke the proverbial camel's back. The service was appalling, unfriendly and unprofessional. Is there any training which the owners provide to their employees? It appears lacking. The food was grotesque, fried and greasy served with no water for the table, no napkins or basic condiments or " how's your meal, what can I get you." I would advise patrons to go across the street to The People's Pub, where customers will find friendliness, professionalism and quality food. I'm really sorry to say all these things, but the whole vibe at The Brewery is downright nasty. read more

The beer was wonderful, but the menu was very hard to read. I highly recommend the brussels sprouts appetizer. However, there are up-charges of two dollars for each item including cheese, mushrooms and onions on a burger/fries that were overpriced @ $15 to begin with. Went here last week for the first time. Midweek around 3. Fairly quiet as expected. Tried two very good beers, the Czech Pilsner and a hop ipa. Plus had a bowl of chili which was outstanding. Server was very good. Liked the place so much I went back the following Sunday to catch a few games and have some beers. The Czech beer again and a beer made with rye malt were my selections. Both very good. Had their chicken wing special at 75 cents each and they were the best I've had in this area other than 20 north Broadway. How did I find Chatham Brewing, you ask? Well, when a guy gets invited to a bachelorette party in Western Mass and drives up from Philly on the Taconic Parkway stopping off at the NY Taste rest stop and sees a brewery doing tastings... you taste right? That brewery happened to be Chatham, and since I liked what I had, I asked for directions and realized it wasn't too far out of the way. The bartender was very helpful in taking me through the options for my flight, and i enjoyed nearly all the beers I drank. The only reason I knocked them down 1 star is because of the lack of options to take home in cans/bottles. There were only two options in cans, and luckily I enjoyed one of them. If I ever happen to be back in the area, I'll definitely go back, and I suggest you go as well! read more

This place is a modern tavern that has great food. Always a positive and fun atmosphere inside! Sometimes they even have local bands playing. Salads are superb & a favorite off the menu is the white cheddar mac & cheese. I have been coming to this place from when it was just a hole in the wall in a side alley off of Main St. and I have never gone wrong with a brew from their tanks! The business has prospered and grown since those days past and the establishment is now in the large building right on Main St., offering a wide variety of seating, some delicious locally sourced victuals, and music on occasion, not to mention a slew of fine beers with a variety of tastes that can satisfy any palate! As you are sitting and enjoying yourself you can see the copper brewing vats through large glass windows and are sure to meet some fine local folks! Much of the brewery makes reference to the railroad heritage within Chatham. If you notice their taps are railroad ties and many of the beer names come from some aspect of train or tracks! Chatham Brewing is a local favorite. We stopped here during their hops festival (not on purpose) and it wound up being such a lovely surprise. If you were willing to help pick hops for a bit, they were willing to keep a cup of beer full for you while you were doing so. Sounds like a good deal to me! Already in a good mood from picking hops outside, we went inside and two of us ordered flights; I tried every beer on both flights (mine to my taste, the other flight not necessarily what I would choose for myself to drink) and they were all excellent. We were all hungry, so all three of us ordered the chicken fingers on the menu from the food truck (which you order from a waitress if you're sitting at a table; you can also order your drinks from the waitress, which I didn't realize at first as it's a seat yourself operation). Chicken fingers were delicious, though you have to try pretty hard to screw those up. Four stars instead of five because the service aspect wasn't very smooth. It was busy, but not BUSY and we always eventually got attention, but the food truck was overloaded and there was a delay as to when the waitress could put our order in as a result; the food truck was out of one of the things we tried to order (around 5pm); there were some very long waits. Very impressive small town microbrewery and I would rate the quality and variety better than any other microbrewery. Excellent selection and diverse, from pilsners to multiple IPAs and I guarantee you, flavors you've never experienced that are this good. Awesome! I really can't say enough about how great this place is. One of my friends brought me by last weekend while I was in town visiting and it definitely lived up to the high expectations he set for me prior to going. The brewery is located in a garage type setting down a small alleyway in downtown Chatham. This spot is super tiny but it makes a great place to meet up and sample some brew. They have about six different kinds of tasty suds, each one with it's own distinct flavor. I personally preferred the porter but they had a tasty 8% IPA and some other treats. When we came by, the brewer was there; I don't think I caught his name but he was super nice and all too eager to talk beer. It's really great to see someone who is so passionate about what they do and it totally enhances the whole experience. He was even willing to let us sample some of his own personal beers that he was working on. I left with a couple of filled growlers, a pint glass and a big smile! 5 stars, hands down! read more

So this place was under construction so I'm not judging it by appearance. It was clean but very simple and it seemed like they were still trying to figure out where everything was (there were some beers I requested they had to look for). The beers themselves are delicious, you are allowed to sample all of them for free (little delicious samples!) the guy who was pouring our brews seemed a little overwhelmed or new but he was very friendly and helpful. I'm a huge fan of bourbon and barreled beers so I needed to try those two. They were good but I didn't fall in love with either of them. I did however fall in love with the Maple Amber, I've never had anything that tasted like maple syrup with out being overly heavy. Perfect beer. PERFECT. You cannot beat the prices, decent pricing on everything, GREAT growler prices, awesome prices on the gear and stickers. I'd absolutely stop back here, and this is recommended for any beer tour of the area. read more

The Chatham brewing is a good place to go to the bar and have dinner with the family but they are expensive last time I went I got a cheeseburger and is was like $15 and it was good but small. An insult to vegetarians. The "buffalo cauliflower" was a huge wedge of steamed yet still crunchy cauliflower soaking in an unappetizing watery brown sauce. For the price? A joke. Couldn't choke it down. Buffalo cauliflower is such an easy tasty bar food thing I've had a ton of places that do pub food...but like with any veg substitute you have to actually consider flavor and texture. Breading and deep-frying isn't hard (even if you'd need a separate fryer from meat/fish) and is commonly done, for good reason. Even roasting coulda worked. But raw-ish wet cauli chunks? Ugh. No utensils, forgotten additions, a ridiculous automated system for orders and checks. They've come along way from selling growlers out of a discreet side door, down a secluded back alley on Main St. These days, they now offer a full range of beers, available regularly. I highly recommend their flagship Farmer's Daughter. It's a great crossover IPA, with a darker, richer flavor, for those less interested in IBUs. Ghent Bent is a darker offering, for those looking for stronger malt flavors. For those looking for a "traditional" IPA, the Pineapple Bombogenesis is second to none. A required stop for your Columbia County brew crawl. read more

Great brewery in a fun town! The flights are a great deal at only 7 dollars and they have quite a few beers to choose from. We also ate dinner there. The chili was a good deal and very filling. The reason I gave it 4 stars was the burgers were 16 dollars and very small plus fries were extra. Overall though great service and a fun bar! Live music was a plus too! read more
