I highly recommend Christian for anyone needing electrical work. When we needed work on our 1940's bungalow, we scoured the neighborhood mailing list to find recommendations. Overall great experience. Super polite and professional, Christian Chase is a master electrician who knows his trade, pays fastidious attention to detail and is thoughtful to the homeowner during the process. I needed a good electrician because I had a lot of dangerous unpermitted "DIY wiring" at my house that was frankly scary. I'm surprised my house passed inspection when I bought it. The breaker panel was so compromised the city had locked it to prevent any further tampering. This was a major repair that had to be done. Christian gave me a prompt and reasonable estimate for the job, stepped it out and ranked my problems in order of importance to help me budget, and allowed me to make two payments. He got all the permits and supplies very quickly, scheduled at my convenience, and worked until dark to get the job done right. He showed me everything he was working on and explained it in detail, his workmanship was precise, he kept appointments and cleaned up after himself each day. He pointed out other problems that he found along the way and gave me the choice whether to fix them or not. Finally, I'm a single woman and I always felt completely safe with him at my house, which has not always been the case in the past, so I'm very sensitive to this issue. My fiance can do a decent amount of electrical work, but there are some jobs where you really need to bring in a pro. You'd think our job would be pretty simple: a new circuit for our electric range. But it required very heavy wire, some custom conduit, and a lot of drilling through brick - not so simple. Christian Chase was very accommodating in terms of schedule. He started work on a Saturday afternoon, then came back and finished the following Monday evening. He walked us through every step of the job and made sure we were comfortable before he started work. And when the work was done, you could barely tell anything had been added - except now our new induction range has power. My family has used him for years for our rental units. He's fixed ceiling fans and rewired rooms and everything in between. The best way to describe him is that we just don't have to worry about him. If you work with a lot of contractors you know how great it is to have a guy that you can just call or email and not have to sweat about their work or honesty. He doesn't gouge or half ass or delay. We have 8 units and he has done all the electrical work on them for at least a decade and we don't want to use anyone else. PS He's also just a super smart guy. He graduated from RISD which is a really prestigious art college. He welds sculptures and cooks gourmet meals in his spare time. Honestly, I had a really great experience. Christian Chase is a very knowledgeable and personable guy. I called him out to a new rental property I just moved into - we couldn't get our 3 prong electric dryer outlet to work, despite resetting our interior breaker box & GFCI outlets. I didn't want to waste any time fiddling with it myself, so I did a little research and found Chase Electric was close to my house. I left a message on a Friday night, thinking it would probably be a couple days before I heard back. NOPE. Got a call from Christian on Saturday afternoon saying he normally doesn't work on weekends, but would gladly come out to take a look at our situation. He was in and out in under two hours - he was able to very quickly isolate the problem (we had a dead circuit breaker) and didn't mind my fascination in watching & chatting with him while he worked. As another reviewer mentioned, he went to art school at RISD - so yes, this guy's really cool. Anyway, once he replaced the breaker he went step by step through what he did, keeping me informed about any changes, then went back through the house to double check that everything was in working order. Perfection. Highly recommend. Not only did he take time out of his weekend to help me, he was also very fast and extremely thorough. If I could give him more than five stars I would. Most of us deal with these service providers and think "good" or "good enough". But Christian at Chase took customer service to an extraordinary level! First, I was trying to get someone out the same day. When I told him of my problem he tried walking me through a few tasks over the phone to make sure it wasn't something I could fix myself. He was trying to save me time and the money of having him come out. Most electricians would have just gone straight for the pocket book. Next he kept me in the loop on when he'd arrive. Then when he got here he was happy to answer my questions and explain what he was doing so I could understand. Then he noticed that my the delivery men had not installed my dryer cable correctly and offered to fix it for me. I'd definitely recommend him to anyone. read more

I've had two experiences with Chase Electric, very different. The first was simple. I wanted a timer installed on my pool pump. Well, Christian responded to my e-mail, came out, did a great job, billed a fair amount, and I even connected with him as a fellow guitarist (he, if memory serves, plays a Gibson ES-175). Nice guy. Seemed to know his stuff. I liked him. The second experience was more problematic. One day a week before Christmas 2016, lots of stuff went wrong all over my house in a random way. Dead lights in rooms nowhere near each other, various dead outlets, no central heat, and the pool pump failed. The heat was a real problem -- it was in the twenties outside. I work from home. My house was freezing. I asked Christian if he could come out via e-mail, reporting these issues briefly. There was no response for two days. This was surprising -- I work for myself too, and if I am awake, not an hour will go by in which I don't check business e-mail. And Chase Electric has its e-mail address front and center on its Web site, inviting people to use it. Well, in two days, he did get back to me and said he had some time the following week. I said with no heat in my house, I needed a faster fix than that... so I would find someone else. He then suggested an HVAC specialist. Now, being busy the week before Christmas... that I completely understood. But it was odd that a master electrician would refer me to an HVAC specialist for this. Anybody with a background in technical troubleshooting (such as mine) knows that when 5-10 different things all go wrong simultaneously, there is a root cause. This particular root cause was obviously electrical. And it spanned different circuits, not just the furnace circuit. It was therefore something that linked these circuits (meaning either the breaker box or a problem with the city power that led to the breaker box)... as I had suggested to him. So I knew, immediately, that I had just gotten some dubious advice that was only going to waste my time and money, and I did not hire an HVAC specialist to tell me that my issue was electrical. Well, Christmas came along and the weather turned warm, and I'm basically a nice guy. So I wrote him back, and said I'd like to start over with all this, and politely offered him the job again. Didn't ask for an estimate. Didn't press him on the timeframe. Just said I would be glad to hire him. I never heard a word. A week later, I troubleshot this issue myself... using a multimeter and some common sense. The problem was indeed the power coming from the city (a corroded splice on the roof that killed a hot feed into the breaker box). Then I managed to talk the city into admitting it was their problem and fixing it (not an easy thing to do). So I'm rating Chase Electric a 5 for the pump timer job, which was great... but a 0 for this recent experience. Averaged out they come to 2.5, which I'm rounding up to three because he's a guitarist. But sitting in my freezing house, I really deserved better advice than to be sent to an HVAC specialist for what was obviously not an HVAC problem at all. read more

Christian was awesome! I called to schedule an appt to check our circuit that had stopped working. He walked me though a bunch of troubleshooting and we found the problem in a few minutes and he ended up not having to come out. This is the way buisinesses should be run. We will be only using Christian Chase for all of our electrical needs in the future. 10/10 would electric again. read more

Christian easily deserves the 5-star rating he's averaging here. I've had him out for a couple of jobs now (one fairly simple and a second a little more involved). He's thorough, detail-oriented, and explains the job to you as he's going along to ensure you're comfortable with the work and cost. In terms of his customer focus, he's great - responsive to phone calls or texts, which sounds easy enough but isn't always the case with a lot of folks. Just like the average ratings here...5-STAR without question. Christian is a good guy, good communicator and GOOD EDUCATOR! He solved an issue with a circuit that stopped working (because of something I did as a homeowner...) Not only did he fix the issue, he taught me a couple of new techniques for wiring in case I had the same issue with another part of my house in the future. Christian called the night before to confirm the appointment. He called prior to the appointment stating he was running a little late...he texted to say he was near the home prior to arrival. Love the communication alone! Wish he would have more reviews from people that use him because good people deserve good reviews (especially when it is hard to find good, honest tradesmen sometimes). I had the pleasure of contacting Christian Chase, Chase Electric, because he had completed extensive lighting and electric installation for our house's previous owners. One of the halogen bulbs for a can light in our kitchen had burned out and we couldn't figure out how to replace it. When I called I left a voice message, and hoped he would call me back by the next day. He called me within the hour. I felt apologetic about contacting him for such a small job, but he assured me that these can lights and halogen bulbs could be tricky. He quoted me an hourly rate and a charge for travel, since he is located in south Austin and we're up north (with Austin traffic, totally understandable, and other contractors also do this). He also told me the type and wattage of bulb so I could go and buy them, or he could bring the bulb and charge me for the bulb with a mark up. He Los suggested we change out the other bulbs at the same time. I really appreciated this consideration. We set up a day and time and he was here very promptly. He even called saying he could be a little early, and inquired if that would work for me. Again, very courteous and customer oriented. He went ahead and replaced all the bulbs in our kitchen and showed me how to replace them so we would know how to do it ourselves. Master Electrician Christian Chase just came out to my home to diagnose and repair an electrical problem i was having that I, although being fairly mechanical minded, was unable to resolve. Much to my delight Christian came in, assessed what the problem was in about 15 minutes, and completed the repair.
