We went here on a Wednesday night for our Anniversary. Our server was nice but didn't go above and beyond to make any conversation. The lobster bisque was amazing as usual. The new veggie chips with the avocado shrimp stack were not good. The regular tortilla chips are better. The New York strip was cooked perfectly. The shrimp and scallops were delicious with the spinach gnocci. The fauxito was not good- definitely wouldn't order again. The "lava" cake had no lava and was pretty dry. When we went to pay we knew we had a $75 Landry's credit. I told the server and she came back saying she took off $50. I inquired about the difference and she said "I don't know your going to have to take it up with Landry's." Definitely in an irritated tone. I pulled up my Landry's account just to verify and she pointed to one of the $25 and said "I'm sure that one is expired." I didn't make a big deal of it because it truly wasn't a big deal but what bothers me is that the servers do an excellent job at selling Landry's but as soon as there is an issue it appears it is my problem. Really enjoyed Chart House for dinner! The place is very nicely decorated, the staff is incredibly friendly, and the food has such good flavor. We came with a group of nine women, and we all ordered different things. Everyone really enjoyed their food. Drinks were delicious as well! Friday, Aug 1, 2025 @ 6:00pm. Reservations for 2@ 6:00. Drinks took forever. Literally, 20 minutes to wait for a drink. Waiter promised bread... Bread never showed up until we had to ask, as our meal was being served. My wife's Seabass w/lobster Risotto was nearly in edible. Tasting way too fishy and underdone, with the risotto trying to disguise what flavor there was, if any after two bites, she said "I'm sorry. "I can't eat this". This is from a person who will never send her food back, and didn't. When my prime rib arrived, it was unrecognizable as a slice of prime rib. I asked for medium, rare, and I got an end cut. Not only was it visually unappealing, it was full of fat and cut way too thin. I guess that's what I get for using the "chart your course" option on the menu. We ordered it because the waitress said it was the restaurant specialty dessert. My wife and I shared one, so did my parents. If they couldn't get it right the 3rd time then they need to start checking how long they cook them. Minus another star for not knowing how to properly cook a steak to the right temperature. Then when we sent them back they still came back undercooked because they thought just searing them would do the trick. I had the lamb and asked for it medium but it came out a true rare. Overall, our visit was pretty disappointing. Our reservation for a party of 4 was for 645PM on a Monday evening. We were not seated until 715PM. The seared ahi appetizer was good, but the portion was small. Both filets ordered were overcooked and served at room temperature. The bleu cheese butter topping was cold with half on the meat and half on the plate. The side of asparagus was overcooked and served at room temperature. Probably the best prepared dish was my son's chicken tenders and french fries. Our server was friendly and attentive. For the price point, the meal was incredibly underwhelming and poorly executed. Beautiful location with a beautiful view. The Chart House is probably the best "steakhouse" in South Lake Tahoe. It's situated away from the casinos up the hill and can be hard to find if they have a lot of snow. We made reservations for my birthday and arrived a little early to catch HH. I think everyone had the same idea because the bar area was full. Happy Hour is only at the bar and is reasonably priced. I had the pomegranate mojito which was delicious, then I had their sangria which was too sweet for me. When our table was ready the hostess came and found us at the bar and showed us the table. We went to the Chart House tonight in Lake Tahoe for our annual trip to Tahoe. We will be celebrating our 20th wedding anniversary soon, so it was nice that they gave us a menu that said "Happy 20th Anniversary from the Lake Tahoe Chart House." The bad news is they took the menus (not that we were going to keep them), but it means they will be recycled. We had a 7:30 reservation, but we were not seated until around 7:50 (and we are Landry Select members). Once seated at a window seat it took about 5 minutes for the first staff member to some around with water. He asked if we wanted bread, and we said yes. We got 2 different pieces of bread (a bit hard to our taste) and 2 pieces of breaded crackers, which we did not eat. It took a few minutes before the waitress arrived to take our drink order (a bottle of wine). My hubby and I are both losing weight, so we opted to share an appetizer and an entree. We selected the shrimp cocktail (very good; it included 5 shrimp, and the cocktail sauce is in the base of the shrimp; I love my cocktail sauce very spicy, so I should have asked for some hot sauce or horseradish to spice it up). For the entree we shared the larger sized roast beef. It comes with mashed potatoes (yum), a dipping sauce (double yum), and horseradish (creamy or raw; we opted for raw, and I give it a triple yum). We could only finish 1/2 of our roast beef, so we have leftovers for tomorrow . BTW, the CH split our dinner for us, and that was a nice touch. The only glitch is that we had a coupon for a free appetizer valued up to $18. When we got the bill the discount had not been removed from the bill. Lastly, it came with dessert which was the Hot Lava Cake (A MUST HAVE) which was a brownie topped with ice cream, a hard chocolate shell and some nuts... OMG, I am going to try to recreate! My dad has the sea bass, my husband ordered the filet with lobster tail, and my 3 year old ordered a cheeseburger from the kids menu (which was nowhere near kids size by the way lol.. portion was a huge!) The only disappointment I had was that they asked if we were celebrating anything and when I told them we were celebrating my husbands birthday, I was expecting them to bring a small dessert out so we can sing happy birthday but they didn't. We finally dined at Chart House after all this time--and we're wondering why we waited so long! We had picked up takeout during COVID and enjoyed it, but dining in was an even better experience. Just two weeks ago, we tried the Monterey location and had a solid experience there too, but this visit really stood out. We always have a beautiful meal here at the Chart House. The pro tip is to be here for the beautiful sunset. The changing colors is the sky are amazing even though the view is obstructed with the pine trees and guests. You'll see this in my pictures. For the starter we had the shrimp mango avocado stack with taro chips. The chunks of shrimp are nice but the mango isn't ripe and the taro chips are too thick and super hard. Sorry, it was better with the seeded cracker from the bread basket. We shared the spinach salad which is tossed table side. Really good with the bacon, sauteed mushrooms, red onion and slivered radishes. For entrees, hubby had the ahi and I had the maple king salmon with roasted vegetables and a side salad of apples walnuts and frisee lettuce. Everything was cooked perfectly. The salmon had a crispiness to it and hubby's ahi was melt in your mouth tender. The presentations were okay now that I look at the pictures. Having two sauces for the ahi could have been enhanced maybe with some chopped parsley or cilantro. Or some black sesame seeds. We were too full for dessert or coffee. Next time, appetizers, shared salad and a shared entree. One thing that annoyed me was the multiple requests to remove the bread basket. I like to nibble on it throughout the meal. Just me? We got a night out to celebrate a birthday. The appetizers were literally amazing!! I had the heirloom and burrata crudo which was full of flavor! It was different than anything I've had recently. And we shared the Kim chee calamari which was the perfect mix of crispy but not too crunchy to be too far over the edge. I had the key west swordfish. It came with mango sticky rice and habanero butter. Most of the time dishes are not spicy but this def had some kick to it which I enjoyed. We ordered the lava cake although I didn't find it anything special so I don't think I would order that again. Our server was friendly but not super attentive. I don't think I had one water refill the entire evening. We brought our own bottle of wine so we had that to sip on. I give servers a pass post Covid though because most places are under staffed. We had reservations at 6:15 we did not get seated until 645 then it took forever for a waiter to come over to wait on us. We had a long time between our drinks and dinner and plus when we ordered from the menu the waiter was very rude to one of my friends that ordered salmon and he asked her how she wanted it And he said well didn't you read the menu? The food was OK I thought my filet mignon was not worth the price. They ran out of baked potatoes and it was only 8 o'clock. A waiter gave my friend somebody else's food and he apologized when he said that they ran out of baked potatoes, but he served her all the toppings for the baked potato. She had mashed potatoes, which was cold. My other friend ordered a smoky Manhattan, which she had two days ago. It arrived and he tasted it and it did not taste the same. He told the waiter, but the waiter said that that's what the drink was. The calamari was good. I am chatter was hot and had a lot of clams in it. Not sure if I would go back to this place. read more

Wow, 4 years since my last review of the Chart House up here at Lake Tahoe. That pandemic kinda put a real damper on the travels, but it seems to be safe enough now to get out and I love being up here at Lake Tahoe. We're here for the happy hour that starts at 4pm. The doors don't open till 4pm, and the crowd was already lined up at the door and we got here 15 min. early! Parking was easy this early. Opened at 4pm and zoom! everybody is getting tables at the bar area. The tables used to be quite limited as the rest was reserved for dinner guests, but now I suppose the demand has opened more tables, so getting a table was easy. The server is right over quick like a bunny getting drink orders. Happy hour pricing is $6-$8 for regular and premium wines. Happy hour runs from 4-6pm ... so drink up! As far as food goes, similar to the last time I was here. Prices are up though, but still affordable. Food grouped by price: $5, $7, $9, and $11. At the $5 end are things like fries, and fried mushrooms, $7 the lettuce wraps, $9 burger sliders and at the top end of $11 are Lobster Tartar. These are just examples, more stuff on the menu, I posted pics of the menu. We tried about half the menu and all the food was great, we even got double orders of the fried mushrooms. My fave were the firecracker shrimp. The view is great sitting by the windows. By the time we left at 6pm, the rest of the restaurant was fill up and servers were carrying out trays of tasty looking entrees! I've dined at Chart House on at least three occasions recently on trips to Tahoe. The ambiance is great with beautiful mountain views. Service is always on point. I always order the Prime Rib and it's delicious. Comes with a mashed potato or you can sub a baked potato. I'd definitely recommend getting a side if the straight horseradish to complement the creamy horseradish. The creamy has no kick to it. I've tried the house salad as well as The clam chowder. Salad is just ok, but the chowder was really good. Chart House a price fix option where you get a salad or soup, entree, and a dessert for a great price. I don't usually order it as I typically pass on dessert, and a starter and the Prime Rib is cheaper than the price fix price. Drinks I keep it simple with an old fashioned, and they're always good. They offer a great happy hour here as well. Super reasonable prices especially for a tourist destination in the current price market . Steer clear, this is likely the most expensive microwave food you can buy. $100 a head for unappetizing, lukewarm, over salted and dry meals. They can't even be bothered to serve real butter for the bread. The "House Salad" is somehow worse than a bagged salad at the grocery store, it was pretty nasty. Iceberg lettuce and just about every possible pre-cut vegetable tossed in cooking oil. The portions were comically massive, and the flavor absolutely minuscule. The steak was overcooked, lukewarm, and of poor quality. I think the only way you could explain the tough, dry, lukewarm food is that chef microwave was doing some heavy lifting. The sea bass was big and flavorless, with tough and somehow burned gnocchi. The service is corporate and ham-fisted. Everyone in our party was carded, and had to each go around and verbally repeat that we were 21 years old, even though they already had our IDs in hand. One in our party said they were not 21 and the ID was fake, to call the bluff, but they still served them alcohol regardless. So what's even the point. I've been to the chart house before and had a much better experience years ago, but now it seems to be owned by a corporate gaming conglomerate that is grifting these customers hard. Some people give stars for the ambiance, but I'd recommend you just sit in the parking lot and go somewhere else after if you really want the sunset view. read more

Perched high above Lake Tahoe near heavenly, this white tablecloth dining spot is known for its prime rib and breathtaking views. Most of the tables take advantage of the views of Lake Tahoe and we had a semi-circular booth not far from the windows. While part of the massive Landrys restaurant group, this place still feels one of a kind and special. Service was top notch and our server Kar took good care of us. We really enjoyed the food starting with the "crunchy coconut shrimp" appetizer with three sauces which arrived very quickly and was the perfect start to our meal. The Caesar salad was tangy and I appreciated them splitting it in the kitchen. The star was the "key west special" which turned out to be perfectly grilled meaty halibut over sticky rice with a sweet and spicy pineapple habanero sauce-so good.
