After searching for a few steakhouses, The Chart House stood out because of its beautiful view and great reviews. We decided it was a must-try and made a reservation through OpenTable for 7:45 PM. We started with the kimchi calamari, followed by the New York strip and the 14 oz. prime rib. When I tell you it's rare for a steakhouse to get both land and sea dishes just right, this place truly knows what they're doing! Everything was cooked perfectly, tender, hot, and full of flavor. Nothing was lacking. The customer service was also wonderful. Everyone was welcoming, attentive, and helpful. And, just as the reviews described, the view was absolutely beautiful, especially while watching the sunset. We're already looking forward to coming back to celebrate special occasions. We didn't get a chance to try happy hour, but the prices and options looked great--definitely another reason to return!

Coconut shrimp- elegantly presented and fun!

Yes it's true, Chart House really does have the best happy hour in town and in a beautiful atmosphere if you happen to get a glance of the lake! Quality cocktails at reasonable prices to kick things off. Especially enjoyed the prime rib sliders and coconut shrimp. Truffle fries were generous and also enter classic mud pie for dessert. Service was a bit pokey and noticeably disappeared towards the tail end of happy hour.

Had a reservation here for a party of 12 on a Monday evening for dinner to celebrate a birthday. The place was packed and we were seated about 10-15 minutes after our reservation time. They have plenty of parking in their parking lot. They also provided a while coloring book for each kid with colored pencils. Service: Service was very slow. It took 25-30 minutes after we sat down to get our drinks. My son's kid's meal was supposed to come with milk (which I asked for) and it never came. I had to ask a few times for a refill on my iced tea, which I felt they should have noticed and brought one without asking. Food: Food was very good. They started us with warm, complimentary house bread and butter service. I really enjoyed the kimchi calamari and was pleased it was a large portion. I ordered the Miso black cod for my meal, which flaked easily with a fork and was on top of a bed of Asian style vegetables and broth. The kids menu offered some healthy options as well and I got my son the grilled chicken with vegetable (broccolini). Our large party ordered a variety of appetizers and entrees, and everyone spoke highly of the food. They brought out a red velvet cake dessert for the birthday celebration. I didn't see the bill, so I'm not sure if it was complimentary or not. Ambiance: nice view of the lake and sky during sunset. Overall, good food and lake views, but service was lacking.

    Shrimp, Avocado + Mango Stack

Warmly greeted and seated within reason of our reservation time. However, it seems Chart House has continued its downward slide. The meal started out well with a very nice shareable Shrimp, Avocado + Mango Stack. But my starter, the Caesar Salad, was bland and unremarkable. It was more like a prepackaged salad from Costco. It was lacking enough dressing, cheese and any seasoning -- and anchovies would have been nice for the price. My entree was uniquely spicy for salmon and the entire entree on the small side. It was flavorful and cooked to perfection, however. The Mini Lava Cake would have been a nice way to finish to the evening, but by the time was got utensils to eat it, the ice cream was melted on all three and fell off the top of the cake. Annoyingly, someone in our party had to ask for utensils after each course. Perhaps they were overwhelmed with it being Father's Day. Which reminds me, I booked my reservation months ago. Chart House called me a few days prior to advise me that it was a Holiday Menu only, and asked, "Is that okay or would you like to cancel your reservation?" I don't think that will be a concern going forward.

Came here cuz I was looking for a fine dining place hoping to get some high quality food. Thankfully we came during happy hour because if I would have paid full price for most of the items I would have been super pissed. I'll start with the positive the kimchi calamari and the firecracker shrimp were pretty good. The one thing that was fantastic was the king crab. Now for the crap the mussels were over cooked and tasted terrible. And I feel like that's an understatement . The lettuce wrap were seriously underwhelming the chicken was dry and even the sauces weren't that tasty it was just overall very bland. We also order a few drinks I asked for a vodka sprite and lime and whatever they served me had no carbonation in it and almost tasted like just water and vodka. Just an over all not great experience. Probably won't ever be back.

Chart House in South Lake Tahoe is definitely worth a visit. The view alone makes it a great spot, especially if you can get a table overlooking the lake. I had the coconut shrimp with rice, and it was really good. The customer service was excellent--everyone was friendly and attentive without being overbearing. We finished with the chocolate cake and ice cream, and it was the perfect dessert. Great food, beautiful scenery, and awesome service. I'd definitely come back.

We went for happy hour. The view is outstanding and the drinks were good. My friends enjoyed their prime rib sliders. I liked, but didn't love the coconut shrimp. The key lime pine was very good.

It's crazy to see that (at the time of this review) this place only has a 3.9 star rating. By far, some of the best NY Strip and Prime Rib I have ever had. The blue cheese butter is a must! The swordfish and calamari were delicious as well. And the chocolate lava cake.... I'd order 3 more if my body could handle it (also it takes a while for preparation, so make sure to order early.) Serving sizes are huge and great to share with parties of 5. Customer service is amazing too. David is a very friendly and fun employee. Thanks for dealing with our shenanigans and obnoxious jokes haha. Also if you're lucky to have a table right by the windows, the sight is beautiful as well, especially during sunset. I definitely see myself coming back here multiple times, just gotta save up a little bit because it sure isn't cheap haha.

Breathtaking views. Nice spacious restaurant. It's always a great experience here. The service from Amy was great...she was smiling and optimistic, fast, attentive and very knowledgeable of the menu. In fact she was so prompt that it was the quickest steakhouse dinner we have ever had. The new twist on the Caesar since our last visit was a pleasant surprise. Steak was a little overcooked but still delicious and fish was cooked perfectly. Table side espresso soufflé martini was fun to watch and a light, sweet, smooth cocktail.

A restaurant this expensive with a 3.9 rating is concerning but after eating here, I can say we definitely didn't even experience 3.0 quality. I will say the view is very nice, but the photos were definitely taken before some of the trees grew in because it is mostly obstructed. That being said still beautiful. The restaurant itself seems nice. We were a group of six and our table had pop-up wings that were crooked leading to drinks being spilled and other shenanigans. Waitress was a very interesting person, a highlight being when she took our drinks for almost 15 minutes to refill them (Shirley Temple and Dr Pepper). As far as food goes our appetizer, some sort of tasting platter was very good, one in our group ordered salmon also good. Everyone else's food extremely disappointing. We added the Baja shrimp to two of our steaks, and they popped it on top of it to cover the fact that it was a terrible sear. The steaks were probably a five or six out of 10. But for the price you're paying, it should definitely be more than that. I believe the ahi was $48 on menu and it is the photo shown above, quite literally the worst thing I've ever eaten. our waitress recommended switching the furikake rice to the mango sticky rice, which I did, and then when my food was brought out to me first off that was the presentation I got. Second, they didn't include the bok choy. Which is listed on the menu. We asked our waitress about it and she said oh don't worry the bok choy is disgusting. You're not missing anything. By the way, that is exactly what she said.. later that night, one of the people in our party got extremely sick with food poisoning we believe that it may have been the Baja shrimp. eat here with caution know what you're getting into. We definitely won't be coming back.

    Creme brulee and cheesecake

Driven past this place multiple times but finally got the chance to eat here for a business meeting. They had a set menu we could choose from. Started with Cesar salad. I got prime rib with mashed potatoes and my friend for the Baja salmon with shrimp and rice. Everything was flavorful and cooked perfectly. Got creme brulee and cheesecake for dessert. It said it was supposed to be served with raspberries but they ran out so they gave us a side of blackberries instead. Service was great! Would eat here again

The view alone gets five stars. The service, however, appears to operate on "lake or mountain time." We were seated with menus and waited about 20 minutes before we finally flagged down an employee to ask for service. Our group of four ordered four glasses of wine, two desserts, and an appetizer, and we mentioned that we planned to share everything. When the food and drinks arrived, we asked the person who dropped them off if the outdoor heater could be turned on. He responded, "Ummm... ask your server," with an attitude, then walked away. That was essentially the last service we received. We couldn't flag anyone down for side plates, napkins, or utensils, so we improvised. Fortunately, the appetizer and desserts came with large serving spoons, which we used as our personal cutlery. No napkins, though--we were apparently expected to embrace the rustic experience fully. We watched nearby tables struggle to get service as well. Employees seemed frustrated whenever guests asked for blankets, since the outdoor heaters weren't being turned on. One manager told a nearby table that propane was being brought out for the heater next to us. It never arrived. Another two-top eventually left after sunset without ever getting the chance to order food or drinks. To be fair, we came during Labor Day weekend, and it was clear the restaurant had started the day in the weeds. Earlier that afternoon, we stopped by and the bartender at the front was visibly stressed. She told us we could seat ourselves, but that we were about 40 minutes away from receiving any service because she was the only employee working. So, if you come here, manage your expectations--and pack accordingly. Bring napkins, utensils, side plates, drinks, snacks, and possibly a small emergency flare in case your server has gone on a wilderness expedition around the lake. I'd definitely come back for the view. The scenery is beautiful, the patio is fantastic, and sunset is worth the trip. Just don't expect the service to be remotely reliable.

After Josh left, my group advised me that Josh is a wonderful guy that comes throughout our visit to check in with us. I was so touched by the personal touch. This property, as well as Josh, deserves MORE than 5 stars! Yelp, we really have to work on expanding the 5 stars (emoji: smiles). I definitely would recommend staying at this property. I look forward to my next stay. Thank you, Josh, for your amazing hospitality during our stay!

The hotel itself is a bit of a disappointment after reading the lenghthly upscale description on…read morethe website. The outside walk to the pool is the equivalent to those found in less expensive motels. The promise of a private beach for Landing guests is very misleading. Use of it required ticketed entry. No chairs or umbrellas except expensive rentals from another location (not available most times). OK, now the plusses. The staff including the new GM were welcoming and helpful. But the hit of our stay was the restaurant. Their cuisine was as good as any restaurant we've been to. Their chef produced absolutely outstanding menu choices and presentations. The waiter crew were friendly and professional with special consideration to Clay who made our evening meal choices memorable. Overall, with some needed structural enhancements to the hotel, itself, it would live up to its web description. Thank God for the restaurant.

Just book it, especially if you have fur babies!…read more My husband and I live in Reno and wanted to book an anniversary trip to Tahoe that we could take our senior Weimaraners. We also have a friend who is a photographer and we haven't had professional photos taken since our wedding 18 years ago so we thought The Landing would be the perfect place since they host weddings here and it's right next to the beach. There are so many excellent parts to mention but I will start with the staff. From the moment we walked in, everyone was so friendly and welcoming to us and our dog. Our 15 year old had just passed and so our 12 year old was a little lost and loved all of the attention. She was treated just like one of the family. They even allow dogs on the free shuttle which is so perfect so we were able to go into the village and have lunch with her. It's a downhill walk back and so pretty, so we enjoyed the fresh air back. They upgraded our room and the views of the lake were perfect. It was so easy taking Juno out for potty breaks. It was extremely quiet and clean. The heated floors and toilets are a nice touch. We had dinner one night in the restaurant and it is the best meal I've had in Tahoe. The Venison is unbelievably tender and flavorful. My husband loved his homemade pasta with huge prawns. Our server, Kevin, went above and beyond to make the night special. They even let us take a few pictures in the bar area which I think turned out really cool with all of the bottles and colors in the background. Of course we all come for Tahoe! This place is right on a perfect spot. Beautiful sunrises and sunsets, some trees and grassy areas also made for perfect pictures. We were there right at the start of Memorial Day weekend so it was extremely quiet and peaceful. I'm sure it will get busy in the height of summer but even then being able to walk across the street from your room makes it so convenient. We want to thank everyone at The Landing for a perfect trip! We can't wait to do it again!

The very low average score is sad because this is actually a really nice place to stay as a hotel…read more The sad part is that pathetic little desk in the reception area with those ridiculous timeshares sales people. That garbage cheapens the whole experience. If you've got a few extra minutes, make them go through that hilarious process of writing down on a white sheet of paper all the free offers you'll get if you sit through there torturous presentation. Then, look up and say no I'm good. Because anyone who purchases a timeshare does not have the neural capacity to go on vacation. It is the single worst purchase a human being can make in 2026. If you have a couple hours to kill, in a very beautiful part of the state, and I can't imagine why you would have time to waste, go ahead and accept the freebies and sit through the mind-numbing sales pitch. Then just get up and walk out with your freebies. Another really sad part of staying here is walking past the timeshare vultures going to the very reasonably priced convenience store and seeing an elderly disabled person sitting there getting the ridiculous sales pitch. Now for all the reasons I gave it four stars. My hotel room has an amazing view, and it always does. Panoramic Carson valley. Perhaps the best view in all of Northern california. Free parking. And the free parking is very convenient, steps away from the elevator leading to your room. I always get upgraded to an enormous corner suite. Large living room, fully equipped kitchen, king bedroom, and a nice bathroom. Washer dryer in your hotel room! And there's even free laundry detergent. One of the most amazing benefits is a limited number of free EV charging stations. In a state with the highest gas prices in the country, you can drive all over the Carson Valley in your EV for free. The convenience store is very reasonably priced. Aside from having to walk by those loathsome timeshare vultures, the selection is good and the prices are similar to Target or walmart. Depending on your building, hot tub right on the premises. They had a nice pool, but it seems to have fallen into some disrepair. And the water temperature was definitely not warm enough for a cool ridge Tahoe evening. Location is perfect unless you want to walk to a South Lake Tahoe casino. And I have zero interest in casinos. The ridge puts you dead center between Tahoe and the Carson valley.

Tahoe Ridge is truly a hidden gem perched right on the California-Nevada line. While it operates as…read morea vacation club, it's owned by IHG and rooms can often be rented just like a traditional hotel, which makes it surprisingly accessible. The property has plenty to keep guests entertained -- daily activities, pools, saunas, bars, a small market, and an on-site restaurant -- so you rarely feel the need to leave unless you're heading out to ski or explore. I've stayed here three times, in both the Tower and Nagle buildings, and the views alone make every visit worthwhile. The location is absolutely five-star, especially for winter trips focused on skiing. Many of the units are more like condos than hotel rooms, with full kitchens, living areas, multiple bedrooms and bathrooms, and thoughtful extras like jetted tubs, gas fireplaces, laundry rooms, and balconies. Ski lockers conveniently located in the halls are another nice touch. Decor varies depending on the building and unit -- some feel more updated than others -- but all have character and have consistently been well stocked with useful amenities like humidifiers, fans, and reliable coffee makers. Parking is easy and plentiful, with both underground and outdoor options across the property. My favorite feature, hands down, is the Skier Express -- a mechanical bubble shuttle that connects the resort directly to the Stagecoach lift. When it's running, it's an amazing perk, though it seems to be operational only about half the time, which can be frustrating. There's also a traditional shuttle that loops to the base lodges. It can take a bit longer due to the one-way main road, but it's still a solid option for getting around. On my most recent visit, the management team really stood out. Communication before arrival was excellent, and I was celebrating a milestone birthday -- they made the stay feel extra special with genuine kindness and attention. I'm honestly not sure where some of the lower reviews come from, but if they help keep this place under the radar, I guess that's the silver lining. For me, Tahoe Ridge has become my go-to stay in the area and the only place I consistently choose when visiting.
