We went on the 2PM cruise today and had fantastic weather for a lake cruise. They advised us to start lining up around 1:30p, started boarding around 1:45p and were promptly cruising following key safety messages. Key things to note below: -There is available seating toward the front outside, if you appreciate some sun and a cool breeze these may be the seats for you! -Guests moved in and out throughout the cruise, we opted to stay in for most of it but had no issues moving around outside to take photos comfortably. -Snacks and drinks are available for purchase onboard. -They had comfy blankets available inside to take outside to keep warm (very nice touch and they appeared to be very clean) -They did a great job slowing down in Emerald Bay and highlighting wildlife nearby for viewing and photography. -Don't forget to bring cash to tip the well-deserving crew! -We had a cool mix of tourists and locals to chat with on the cruise. -There are padded bench style seats indoor and plastic chairs as well. The upper deck also had seating (no shade up top aside from some in the front) -There are restrooms on board, I didn't use them but they were available. Highly recommend for a relaxing and informative cruise around South Lake Tahoe & Emerald Bay. Will definitely cruise again on our next visit to South Lake Tahoe. Star employee - The gal in the ticket office helped us as our tickets printed oddly. She confirmed we were on the list and would be able to board without it. She was so friendly & set a cheerful tone for the day. :) Note, I typically never write reviews this quickly but they did an amazing job and we had a few minutes to spare before dinner nearby. :) Happy Sailing!

Just book it, especially if you have fur babies!…read more My husband and I live in Reno and wanted to book an anniversary trip to Tahoe that we could take our senior Weimaraners. We also have a friend who is a photographer and we haven't had professional photos taken since our wedding 18 years ago so we thought The Landing would be the perfect place since they host weddings here and it's right next to the beach. There are so many excellent parts to mention but I will start with the staff. From the moment we walked in, everyone was so friendly and welcoming to us and our dog. Our 15 year old had just passed and so our 12 year old was a little lost and loved all of the attention. She was treated just like one of the family. They even allow dogs on the free shuttle which is so perfect so we were able to go into the village and have lunch with her. It's a downhill walk back and so pretty, so we enjoyed the fresh air back. They upgraded our room and the views of the lake were perfect. It was so easy taking Juno out for potty breaks. It was extremely quiet and clean. The heated floors and toilets are a nice touch. We had dinner one night in the restaurant and it is the best meal I've had in Tahoe. The Venison is unbelievably tender and flavorful. My husband loved his homemade pasta with huge prawns. Our server, Kevin, went above and beyond to make the night special. They even let us take a few pictures in the bar area which I think turned out really cool with all of the bottles and colors in the background. Of course we all come for Tahoe! This place is right on a perfect spot. Beautiful sunrises and sunsets, some trees and grassy areas also made for perfect pictures. We were there right at the start of Memorial Day weekend so it was extremely quiet and peaceful. I'm sure it will get busy in the height of summer but even then being able to walk across the street from your room makes it so convenient. We want to thank everyone at The Landing for a perfect trip! We can't wait to do it again!

All the included amenities make The Landing stand out! One of our drivers, Benjamin had great energy and suggestions! Loved the free shuttle drives to everything nearby within a 2mi radius. Amazing location. Everything is within a walking distance. We had a partial lake view room with a balcony and fireplace. Our room was spacious and beds were super comfy! There's a mini fridge and Lavazza espresso machine and coffee pods. Heated bathroom floors, heated toilet seats, great shower pressure, and a bathtub with jets. Loved the touch with bath robes and slippers! They also have a rooftop bar with a direct view of the lake. One of the nights, there was a wedding and it was closed to hotel guests. The next day around 5:30pm there was live music- the duo was singing covers and taking requests. They were amazing! There was also complimentary charcuterie. Definitely a perfect spot to watch the sunset. Here are some other noteworthy amenities during our stay: Complimentary champagne from 3pm-10pm. Smores kits 6pm-10pm. Coffee, hot cocoa, tea, fresh apples in the lobby- and the best water from Tahoe. Free daily admission to the private Lakeside Beach. Heated pool and Jacuzzi. Fire pits. Even after we checked out, beach admission, parking and shuttle drives are still included for the whole day. Onsite restaurant, formerly known as Jimmy's which we didn't try. We stayed for a couple nights and wished we could stay longer. It was a stay that made us not want to leave the room and hotel! It was a perfect getaway and we can't wait to return for many more firsts together.

However, our experience was overshadowed by how management handled a serious incident during our stay. My husband was bitten by a dog on the property at this pet-friendly establishment. While we understand that incidents can happen, what has been most disappointing is the complete lack of follow-up afterward. It has now been two weeks, and no one from administration, HR, management, or ownership has contacted us to check on him, apologize, or discuss the situation in any way. We expected far more professionalism, compassion, and accountability from a business in handling an incident involving guest safety. Unfortunately, the lack of communication and concern left us extremely disappointed.

I am shocked at all…read morethe bad reviews after staying there but realize several are minor things people are complaining about. Check in was seamless and the front desk worker was able to get us two rooms only a few doors from each other. We ate at the landshark night one and it was empty. It was good for a convenient meal night one. We were pains with the valet managing two cars and stuff in both but they were patient and kind with all of our needs. The kids did the pool every night and had a blast. Yes, there is a lot of chlorine in the pool but I understand why. The kids loved checking out the turtles everyone we walked by. Minor inconveniences/issues: The Cafe is only open until 5 or 6pm on weekends days which is fine, but unless you go to a bar there's no vending machines I could find for late night drinks or snacks. Going to the bar for a soda might be triggering to someone sober. Vending machines might be a nice addition. The room wasn't filthy but the couch had stains (presumably from pets but who knows). I understand they only have so much time to flip a room. The TV in the bedroom didn't work. I didn't complain or mention to the front desk as it didn't seem like a huge deal since there's another TV in the living room. I wasn't hugely fond of the curtains for the window facing the hallway inside the building. It isn't completely blackout so there is light from the hallway at all times. It also felt like people could see in and as a female alone with 3 kids that was a little worrisome. Thankfully we were at the end of the hall. Overall, would stay again.

Harrah's is across the street and Caesars Republic is catty-corner, making it easy to walk around and enjoy the area. The resort is in a great central location. We walked to restaurants, shops, and even down toward the lake. If you walk straight down, you'll reach the private beach, just keep in mind there's about a $30 entrance fee. The breakfast buffet is a flat $25 per person. It wasn't really worth it for us since we're not big breakfast people. Instead, we grabbed coffee and breakfast sandwiches/burritos from Joe's Merchant in the lobby for around $10-$15. Valet is $40 a day, but parking can be tough to find, so it was worth it for us. Overall, great location, easy to get around on foot, and a place we'd stay at again.

We've visited South Lake many times over the years and honestly had never considered staying here before, but now it's officially our go-to spot. We stayed in the Rubicon wing on the ground floor, and our room had the loveliest fireplace that made everything feel extra warm and relaxing. From the moment we arrived, we felt so welcomed. Homemade cookies were waiting for us, and we loved unwinding with a glass of wine from the happy hour bar in the beautiful lobby. One of our favorite thoughtful touches was the essential oil diffuser bar in the main lodge. You can borrow a diffuser and choose your own oil to bring back to your room, which made the whole experience feel extra special and personalized. The whole property is small, quaint, and impeccably clean, which made it so peaceful to stroll around and take it all in. You can't beat this location being so close to everything yet feeling off the path and quiet. The lodge is stunning and a wonderful place to relax, have a drink, play a game or read a book. And the cabin feels like a serene home with all the right touches. We couldn't wait to go back. This year we stayed in the King Suite because the cabins were booked. It was still lovely and cozy but more modern feeling than the cabins. It's more of a hotel feel; wood floors would probably help rather than the carpet. It's different than the Hideout Cabin which is probably my favorite place to stay- not just in Tahoe. The hot tub is great but don't expect powerful jets and unfortunately the jets in the suite tub didn't work. That and the lighting in the suite are my only critiques (it's a bit harsh and the bathroom switches are confusing) Still, we are as happy as can be here. The added diffuser bar was a nice touch and surprise because there was a diffuser in the cabin last time we stayed but it's nice you can pick your favorite scent now. The staff here is also fantastic. Very kind and helpful. I wanted to bring our whole family here for Christmas after our first visit but they opted for a large cabin together. After a second trip, I'm even more sure this is the best place in Tahoe to stay. I'd visit the lake JUST to stay here. Thanks, Black Bear Lodge, see you next time!
