I cannot begin to explain how much I appreciate the team Brent has at the Cottonwood Cottage, but I…read moream going to try! I was the bride you didn't want showing up on the big day (and yes I mean a total disaster)! From start to finish this team worked with me, calmed me down and cheered me on. The venue was beautiful, the food was delicious, the photographer produced life long memories for my family, Brent kept me updated and on track the entire time, and that wedding planner saved my life all day long! Without them, I would not have had such an amazing experience. Brent made it so easy with his all inclusive package that half the time, I forgot we were planning a wedding! It was all done for us! Not to mention the backdrop in Genoa is a hard place to beat! It is beautiful. Thank you to the Cottonwood staff for bringing our dreams to life!

Grab one of their signature cocktails to sip on, preferably the Blood Orange Lemonade to then sit out in the beautifully landscaped outdoor area to relax or challenge your friends and family to one of their backyard games like Cornhole or Bocce Ball to build up an appetite. On this particular day, our appetites were already pre-backyard game ready to dive into the menu and we realized that we would definitely be coming back to try other options that caught our eye. We ordered the T-O-TChos that are tater tots smothered with melted cheese then topped with house-made chili, green & red onion, and sour cream - TOO DIE FOR!! Then we went for the Tri-tip Swiss Sliders on Hawaiian sweet rolls and let's just put it out there I am not a big tri-tip person because the meat is a hit or miss for me. But folks the meat was cooked to PERFECTION, topped with sautéed mushrooms & onions plus a dollop of horseradish - yeppers folks OMTASTY!! Plus a side of coleslaw that let me say, it was EXCELLENT!! with just a hint of jalapeno - yummilicious!! Looking forward to making our way down the menu with our first stop at the Genoa Peak Nachos and Cottage Burgers - (insert my awkward giggle LOL) As we finished our relaxing day here, we found ourselves gazing out at the backdrop of the mountainous views, the pine trees, along with the beautiful flowers inside the gorgeous outdoor setting all around us. Feeling like we were at a backyard BBQ of a dear friend or family members enjoying the peacefulness of the day - ahhhmazing and serene. Added bonus of Cottonwood Cottage that made this day complete, the personal, friendly service from the hosts aka owners to pull everything all together with refreshing libations, tasty, yep satisfying food to the beauty of this venue. - yeppers PERFECT DAY! Thank you for our relaxing Sunday Funday! See you soon, Cottonwood Cottage, I'm thinking on the Bike's (MC) for Bocce Ball with Bloody Mary's and Cottage Burgers for my next visit - the BBBB day for short (slight giggle lol)

The rooms: gorgeous: they have historic artifacts all over the place and there's a gold rush era vibe here. Indeed their pet friendly and there's a park close by where you can walk your little furry fuzzbutt. I love a child where you can actually park right in front of your room and you don't have to ride elevators or go up numerous lights and stairs carrying everything because I feel like sometimes you get worn out playing all day and then you get to your hotel and it's even more struggle so having the car 10 feet from the door is one of my favorite things about hotels like this. The view is pretty killer: you can see Jobs Peak from Eddy St and that is one of the most picturesque sites you can have in this town. It is snow covered even in the early summer and reminds you that Tahoe and Kirkwood are just around half an hour drive away. When the hotels in Tahoe are full, this is a good back up location to come stay. Try to make it out to Topaz Lake if you can. I found the staff here to be friendly and I had to interact with them several times because the key card will immediately get degaussed if it comes anywhere near your phone. I'm guessing it's the MagSafe feature of the iPhone that is erasing the hotel card but I can tell you I've erased three and I've only been here 15 hours! So that's why I don't give it. Five stars is that they really need to come up with the way that you can carry both your hotel room key and your iPhone in the same pocket I think. For now, put your iPhone in one pocket and put your room key cards in the other and keep them separated "you gotta keep em separated"
