The South Room deck in October. Photo cred: David Braun

We had an absolutely beautiful, incredible wedding at Edgewood on October 21st, 2018. We chose the South Room (a more intimate venue overlooking the lake) in the evening. The location was breathtaking, food was amazing and the staff was great--we didn't have to worry about any logistics throughout the entire event. We didn't have a wedding planner so we relied heavily on Brooke and Lori's help as we planned everything leading up to the big day. The day itself surpassed our expectations, with huge thanks to Brooke! Our friends and family couldn't stop talking about what an amazing time they had, and many mentioned how well Brooke handled the details with setup etc. (I was too busy and excited to notice everything myself.) As others have commented, we also had trouble with communication over the summer of 2018. I think the change in staffing must have been a challenge for them...however, they totally made up for it by the end and really impressed us. Lori helped finalize all the booking and payment related things and Brooke made sure everything ran smoothly despite our last-minute table edits, guest changes and all the other hoops we put her through! Meeting Brooke in person about 1.5 months before the wedding was super useful and I highly recommend everyone do the same--she was extremely organized, professional and just so great to work with. All in all, we had the wedding of our dreams in a fantastic location, and it went more smoothly than we had even hoped for. Edgewood is a special place for a wedding! P.S. Our reception area inside the Edgewood club house.

We got married at Edgewood last winter. It was an incredible venue, but the wedding manager, Lori, was a nightmare to work with. We initially expressed our interest in securing our wedding date in May 2018 when we toured the venue. We were ready to provide a deposit on the spot that day. However, we were told it wouldn't be possible to receive/sign a formal contract until the following Monday (three days later). That was fine, but it ended up being far from the truth. It took another 4 months of numerous unreturned phone calls/voicemails for us to finally receive our formal contract from Edgewood and team. In the meantime, we lost out on our top vendors such as photographers and videographers who took other wedding clients while Lori held us up and couldn't complete the most basic of paperwork/clerical tasks on an acceptable timeline. Once our contract was finally signed, Lori was no better to work with leading up to the wedding. Thankfully we had our own full service wedding planner or my wife and I would have totally lost our minds dealing with more unreturned phones calls and planning issues. You know someone has a bad reputation when our own wedding planners were not at all surprised by the lack of promptness and poor communication from the venue's wedding department. As a final low blow, Lori and the wedding department failed to alert anyone at all during our wedding that we had vastly exceeded the agreed upon/estimated bar consumption. No Edgewood staff member asked if we wanted to extend the tab or switch to a cash bar. It wasn't like it was just slightly over either, we're talking 70%+ above the original estimate. Overall, Edgewood is still the best wedding venue in Tahoe... for now. But if they continue to treat clients the way we were, their reign atop the Tahoe wedding circuit won't last long. If you plan to get married here, I highly recommend having your own full service planner to minimize the amount of contact you have with their wedding team.

Edgewood is unbeatable. We didn't have to spend a lot for flowers & decorations for our wedding bec the facility itself was already beautifully donned up.the postcardesque surrounding is so breathtaking that adding artificial decorations could make it overwhelming.the staff, (cleaners, valet peeps, servers, chef (LONNY), receptionists, wedding coordinators-LORI/BROOKE/MEL-etc)were very accomodating, understanding,& helpful. We are all impressed by their quality service . And oh, food is the best!my hubby & I have decided to make it a habit to stay at Edgewood whenever we're in town. See you soon!xx

this venue has it all. One stop shop, great food, they can do it all, experienced helpful staff and let's not forget the Lake! it's right on the Lake. As a local wedding photographer, I always enjoy photographing at this location. By adding the superb new lodge! game changer! Don't hesitate to consider this venue, tough to beat!

My favorite photo from our wedding, out back of the Edgewood near the dock. Photo by Kristi Gayton Photography.

Can I give 6 stars?? We had our wedding at Edgewood in January 2017. The wedding team is amazing and made my wedding day unforgettable. We did a brunch wedding, since the sun sets so early in the winter and wanted the lake in view the whole time, and the food was amazing! And the scenery can't be beat. If you're considering having your wedding here, stop considering and just do it. You won't regret it. :)

We went on the 2PM cruise today and had fantastic weather for a lake cruise. They advised us to start lining up around 1:30p, started boarding around 1:45p and were promptly cruising following key safety messages. Key things to note below: -There is available seating toward the front outside, if you appreciate some sun and a cool breeze these may be the seats for you! -Guests moved in and out throughout the cruise, we opted to stay in for most of it but had no issues moving around outside to take photos comfortably. -Snacks and drinks are available for purchase onboard. -They had comfy blankets available inside to take outside to keep warm (very nice touch and they appeared to be very clean) -They did a great job slowing down in Emerald Bay and highlighting wildlife nearby for viewing and photography. -Don't forget to bring cash to tip the well-deserving crew! -We had a cool mix of tourists and locals to chat with on the cruise. -There are padded bench style seats indoor and plastic chairs as well. The upper deck also had seating (no shade up top aside from some in the front) -There are restrooms on board, I didn't use them but they were available. Highly recommend for a relaxing and informative cruise around South Lake Tahoe & Emerald Bay. Will definitely cruise again on our next visit to South Lake Tahoe. Star employee - The gal in the ticket office helped us as our tickets printed oddly. She confirmed we were on the list and would be able to board without it. She was so friendly & set a cheerful tone for the day. :) Note, I typically never write reviews this quickly but they did an amazing job and we had a few minutes to spare before dinner nearby. :) Happy Sailing!

We feel in love with the view from the terrace which is where we had our ceremony and reception. We were impressed by the front reception staff immediately and booked our wedding about one year in advance. We met with Chelsea our on site Event Sales Manager, and things started off good. But we shortly there after felt like we were a nuisance by asking just a few questions, and we are low maintenance. You should plan on guests staying in other hotels as the wedding party booking process is a PIA, or perhaps this was just the case with our Event Manager, any questions took weeks or more to get a response. On top of that we reviewed pricing one year in advance at what we assumed was our guests budget, but we did not realize that the cost of a room about doubles with all their hidden fees. When we asked for a few minutes to meet and review some details of the site to figure out how and where we had access, and tried to coordinate it with a Sunday Wedding Open House, we were told that was her day off. I asked if she was going to the Open House which she said she was, everything made us feel unappreciated. We literally had 10 minutes of Q&A, which mostly revolved around where things were, what we had access to, so we could start planning decor, and things of that nature. We requested a 30 day prior meeting on site, with our wedding coordinator and Event Sales manager, as we want to review all last details and do a food sampling. Chelsea failed to respondto us or to our Coordinator, nor did she show up. Our coordinator had to call her manager to see what was going on, finally got her cell phone, she said she was working from home that day. We literally had no phone calls from our Event Sales Manager for the final 3 months. Once they have your money and commitment they no longer appreciate you or want to put any energy into you. Our Event Sales Coordinator ended up going to her high school reunion the weekend of our wedding, which would be fine if she informed us and told us an alternate contact should any issues arise, but it was a no call no show. Luckily our wedding coordinator was amazing, and had done many weddings at this site. They did REQUIRE a tip in advance of 20%. I asked than about if a tip jar would be placed at the bar and was told no that it would not. When we and the wedding party got down to the reception well after everyone else already there we found that there was a tip jar where they were asking all guest for more tips!! With no point of contact on site, we did nothing during the wedding as we wanted to focus on our day and deal with issues afterwards. After the wedding we spoke with her manager Keeley, told her of the main shortcomings during the process, in which she admitted things did not go as they should. When I asked for a few hundred dollars back for the double tipping I was told no way. She spoke with corporate and GM and they did not care, once they have you money. All the other people onsite were great. But if you go here, do not pay final amount until after the wedding. Challenge the up front tips, and be prepared that after you give them money they no longer care about making your day special. The Landing refused to respond to a complaint from the Better Business Bureau.

Here there was an indoor pool/hot tub and small exercise room. Those are normal things to me, not resort things. I did like the hot tub and pool stayed open late for adult only time 10-midnight. I don't love that the only parking option is valet at 40 a day. I do love that they decorate in all teal becuase I find that color very tranquil and it's my favorite color. :) We had a king suite and it was modern and roomy and no complaints there whatsoever! Loved the true blackout curtains of course. We ate at the one place on site that was open til 11. It was mediocre. We did the breakfast buffet one morning. It was ok as well. Nothing stood out food wise on site. I'd say decor and hotel only (not considering food) was 4/4, although I'm not sure how much my room would have been without points, so not taking that into account.

When I arrived, the front desk staff were great. The manager and Alexis were very friendly and provided me with everything I would need. I thought the room was nice. All the rooms are suites, with a separate living room, dining area, sofa bed, and then the bedroom. Bathroom is shower only but clean and functional. The gym is small but got the job done. The pools were not clean and had an overwhelming chlorine odor. I guess maybe that helps kill all the bacteria. But why the two stars you may ask. It's because they have a terrible valet company working here. This is a valet parking only resort for $40 a night. I thought it was unnerving when I first arrived and saw how the young valet drivers were treating the customers cars. They acted like it was NASCAR racing. (If you do not believe me, stand by the entrance of the parking lot which is left of the front entrance and watch how they drive the vehicles) But I dismissed my worrying thoughts and left the car with AAA Parking valet. I didn't take the car out for the two nights I stayed there. Upon check out and summoning my car from valet, the fender and front bumper were damaged. They know what they did because I saw the guilt on their faces. Filled out a claim. I asked to see the footage on arrival and they said that it was security's "day off". Huh?! Security completely takes days off at a giant resort hotel?! That was a cop out. AAA Parking Management that Margaritaville employs to valet their customers cars need to be investigated. I will file a complaint with the better business bureau and a civil suit against Margaritaville if action isn't taken in a timely manner. Needless to say I would never stay here again due to the valet only parking. With young men who do not respect people's property.

We've visited South Lake many times over the years and honestly had never considered staying here before, but now it's officially our go-to spot. We stayed in the Rubicon wing on the ground floor, and our room had the loveliest fireplace that made everything feel extra warm and relaxing. From the moment we arrived, we felt so welcomed. Homemade cookies were waiting for us, and we loved unwinding with a glass of wine from the happy hour bar in the beautiful lobby. One of our favorite thoughtful touches was the essential oil diffuser bar in the main lodge. You can borrow a diffuser and choose your own oil to bring back to your room, which made the whole experience feel extra special and personalized. You can't beat this location being so close to everything yet feeling off the path and quiet. The lodge is stunning and a wonderful place to relax, have a drink, play a game or read a book. And the cabin feels like a serene home with all the right touches. We couldn't wait to go back. This year we stayed in the King Suite because the cabins were booked. It was still lovely and cozy but more modern feeling than the cabins. It's more of a hotel feel; wood floors would probably help rather than the carpet. It's different than the Hideout Cabin which is probably my favorite place to stay- not just in Tahoe. The hot tub is great but don't expect powerful jets and unfortunately the jets in the suite tub didn't work. That and the lighting in the suite are my only critiques (it's a bit harsh and the bathroom switches are confusing) Still, we are as happy as can be here. The added diffuser bar was a nice touch and surprise because there was a diffuser in the cabin last time we stayed but it's nice you can pick your favorite scent now. The staff here is also fantastic. Very kind and helpful. I wanted to bring our whole family here for Christmas after our first visit but they opted for a large cabin together. After a second trip, I'm even more sure this is the best place in Tahoe to stay. I'd visit the lake JUST to stay here. Thanks, Black Bear Lodge, see you next time!
