We did have high expectations with chart house and they fully disappointed. The views were awesome but that was about it. The halibut was good but nothing impressive. The steak was overly rare (deep purple in the middle) despite asking for it to be medium. Once we got our food we never saw our server again. We ate the halibut and half the prime rib (each outside) and continued to sit there waiting for the server, for about 20-30mins. We saw the manager talking to other tables nearby. Another server stopped and said it looked like we needed something and we mentioned we haven't seen our server since our food was delivered (and didn't see him at any other table) but we had ordered the lava cake and said if it's ready we will take it to go and if not then cancel the order and will take our bill. The other server walked to the manager talked to them. Then the other server brought us the bill (lava cake on it) and asked if anything else. We said the lava cake to go since it's on the bill. We literally got a "you already said that." We paid the bill, got the lava cake to go and left still without our server coming back. The manager also never checked on us despite us walking right past him when we left. Very disappointed in chart house service. The steak, it happens. But the service was one of the worst we have ever had and is inexcusable. By our server, the other server and the manager. Won't ever go back to this location as there are way better options around.

This place is a throw back and nostalgic. If you want new hot and popping this ain't it. If you like dive OG seafood and steak restaurant bars with an 80s vibe this is it. You'll probably run into my grandparents or yours as well but I do love old people!! We keep coming back for good reason. Oh the views are spectacular as well!! Great staff too.

We've been here a few times now for special occasions and you really can't beat the view at sunset. Service is usually pretty good, the warm bread is always yummy. My go to is coconut shrimp! Or any of their steaks. If you tell them you are celebrating something ahead of time they specialize the menu which is cute.

We've been coming to Chart house for years. I've been hesitant write a review because I don't want the secret out but Zane is amazing, food is top notch, view is sublime. If you want mediocre food, horrible service and less than pleasant views, do not go here. If you want to have the best meal in Monterey, drop all plans and go visit Chart House!

Back after 9 years another Birthday celebration Service: 4/-5 Food selection: filet mignon and shrimp scampi 3 half /5 salmon with rice, 4/5 Caesar salad 4/5 Cream spinach 2/5 The steak had a decent flavor, but I didn't like the cut too or texture It was kinda weird chewy ; the salmon and rice dish had a good flavor and the Caesar salad was good Nice presentation; the calamari was really good and I usually don't it calamari but this sweet and spicy sauce they put on it with all the add-ons was so good. I've have creamed spinach multiple places and this one just didn't do it for me. It was clumpy. It didn't have flavor. It just didn't give the cream spinach taste that Im used to. I wouldn't order this again. I also enjoyed a good lemon drop. Service: 4/5 service was good very attentive patient and professional Ambience; 10/10 I love the ambience. The chart House has one of the best views & ambience inside and out! If you're lucky to get a window seat, the decor is very nice and all of the staff seem to be very nice and attentive. Conclusion: when I am in the area, I will definitely stop by again. I love this place. The food is pretty good for the price point but the steaks definitely could use some work. They definitely need to choose a little better cut of meat but overall everything else was pretty good. I enjoyed my birthday dinner and also my cute little birthday dessert thank you chart House. See you again.

Had a great experience during happy hour. For happy hour, you sit at the bar or in the designated area of the restaurant. My family enjoyed their happy hour drinks. Delicious food, great views of the water. Their lot was full so we parked on the street, no issues. My favorites were the tacos, calamari, and tuna over rice.

Beautiful Views, But a Major Miss on the Food I've been to a number of Chart House locations over the years and have generally had great experiences, so I was excited to visit the Monterey spot. The location and views are, as expected, stunning. However, the experience with the food was unfortunately a real letdown, starting with the fresh raw oysters. While the oysters themselves seemed to be of fine quality, the shucking was honestly terrible. Several of them had fragments of shell and even some mud left on the edges. The adductor muscle wasn't released on the bottom of any of them, so I found myself having to awkwardly cut each one loose and flip it over myself before I could eat it. The most glaring issue was one oyster that had a hole completely smashed through the bottom of the shell, and it was full of shell fragments. It was completely inedible. I pointed this out to our server, and to their credit, they were very professional about it. They promptly brought out a single replacement oyster, and this one was perfect--beautifully shucked, muscle released, and properly turned. It showed me what should have been served in the first place. Moving on from the appetizers, the rest of the meal was also hit-or-miss. The salad bar was nice and had a good selection. Unfortunately, our main entrees didn't fare as well. My halibut was dry, and my boyfriend's prime rib was surprisingly tasteless. Ultimately, the best part of our dinner was the nice view. While the service recovery on the oyster was appreciated, it's disappointing to have such fundamental errors in preparation and execution from a restaurant like Chart House, from the appetizers through the main courses. This experience definitely fell short of the standards I've come to expect from the brand.

As many times as my husband and I have visited Monterey, this was the first time trying Chart House. It was my birthday so I really wanted something special. We showed up at our reserved time and we were seated immediately. Our waiter was super friendly and accommodating for our meal requests. The place was pretty busy, but service was great. The decor is absolutely beautiful, filled with rich woods that gave it a very romantic cozy feel. Since I had already had seafood for lunch, I decided to try the prime rib and OMG, it was amazing. It was cooked at the perfect medium, and was so tender and flavorful. I added a loaded baked potato, which topped it all off. The lobster bisque and clam chowder were top notch and both delicious. They also provided a lovely birthday candle on my dessert! Did I mention my dessert was a lava cake? It was to die for and I ate it all even though I was so stuffed before it even came. I will definitely return and I highly recommend!

We decided to come here for a date night. We were seated by the water which was pretty and nice! The customer service was amazing and the explanation of the dishes was good. Our server/bartender and host was really attentive and cool. Unfortunately, the food was alright. It wasnt something to write back home about. I really liked the restaurant as a whole, but I wish the food was a little bit better. Especially for the price. I don't want to take away from the people who work there, I just wish the food was a little better.

Not sure where to start here. Overall the experience was not bad but it definitely wasn't great. Our starters of the crispy tuna was 80% rice (without seasoning) and 20% spicy tuna that did not really taste fresh at all- skip this. I ordered the "chefs special" miso black cod and it was so incredibly bland and the bed of vegetables could have been a frozen mic from trader joe's. Maybe it was just my dish because everyone else liked their meals (lamb and steak), but man don't recommend the chef's special, OR hype it as the special for that matter, if it is going to be poorly executed. I will say the Mud pie was so yummy and I would actually go back to order just that hahaha. They messed up our creme brulee so they gave us a free hot chocolate lava cake (also chefs special go figure) and it was dry and not very good- probably why it was free. Overall, you aren't going here for the food, mostly the oceanside views.

We came back because we had come once prior years ago and remembered the food being good.. this time I would say it has changed. Can't say we'll re-visit, restaurant is pretty, great ocean views and staff was kind and friendly but food was ehh for the price Oysters 3/10 *we sent them back because they weren't clean well at all- lots of shells Halibut 8/10 *pretty good but nothing I'd go back for. Fish was cooked well though Filet Mignon 7/10 *lacked flavor Kids Salmon 3/10 *undercooked, no seasoning/flavor Kids Burger 7/10 *very small, very dry

Absolutely no options for vegetarians except for a salad bar. Mostly meat and seafood entries. I declined the vegetarian burger since there would be cross contamination when being grilled on the same pan as the meat. The offer of a vegetable pasta was not very appetizing. Great for meat and sea food lovers. Not for vegetarians.

Just a short walk from our hotel Clement, who went out for a late dinner. It's my wife's birthday weekend so wanted a nice dinner. We didn't arrive till about 8:30 at night so we were easily seated at a window table on the bay. The server Kimberly greeted us and provided friendly service throughout without being overly intrusive.. The restaurant is big and it wasn't crowded because it was late. I got the Caesar salad, which was in a toasted Parmesan bowl and was very good. My wife got the beet salad, which is unlike anything I've ever seen and it was a very big portion. We both got the lobster bisque and it was delicious. My wife got the lobster and I got the black cod which was buttery and cooked to perfection. Topped it off the cappuccino and had no room for dessert.

We truly got to enjoy every minute of our wedding day with no stress, because we knew that Makenna, Chef David, Amanda, and the whole team were on top of every detail. Our wedding was 240 people with a morning ceremony/lunch, a full space flip, and an evening cocktail/reception. The Barns team seamlessly pulled off two layouts in the same space in one day, with different meals, bar offerings, decor, and rentals for each. Beyond the amazing team - the venue itself is truly stunning; it's so beautiful that we only had to minimally decorate to create a warm and elegant atmosphere. The space is the perfect balance of rustic and modern, and the barn is deceptively large; we were able to fit everyone on the dance floor! The attached garden is perfect for photographs and a quieter space for guests. We were even able to do an Indian Baraat, due to the unique downtown layout with street access. The Barns are walkable to multiple downtown hotels, so if you do a hotel block or ancillary events, guests can easily move between the spaces without worrying about late-night transportation. From the start, working with our sales manager Amanda was a joy. She coordinated a pre-booking tasting for us and showed us many different layouts for the space, to help us feel confident that the Barns would be the right fit for our wedding. Amanda helped us with flexibility throughout our planning process - helping us contract reasonable spend minimums well ahead of having a firm guest count. Our event manager Makenna went above and beyond to enable our vision. She accommodated a remarkable number of requests, questions, and add-ons with grace and professionalism. Makenna kept us organized, and her meticulous notes ensured no detail was forgotten. She liaised with our photographer, DJ, florist, and rental contact to ensure everyone was working off of the same schedule. She took the time to understand the context behind each of the cultural aspects of our wedding ceremony and event flow, and ensured that the spirit and the intent was carried through. Finally - Makenna was a constant source of creative ideas; she knows every detail of the Barns in and out, and has thought through every possible configuration, down to the height of plants that might block views and where the sun might fall at different times of the day. We were so lucky to have had Makenna's expertise, dedication, and creativity throughout the process. Chef David and the culinary team at the Barns were truly exceptional. The team learned how to make multiple Indian dishes for our wedding, and managed two large multi-cuisine meals in one day. We're still hearing rave reviews of the food 6 months later. Throughout the whole process, the team was open to feedback and refining flavors and sizing to match our vision. Finally, we appreciated the level of attention given to dietary restrictions, including willingness to label tray-passed items, which we had never seen before. We highly recommend getting married at the Barns at Cooper Molera. The team at the Barns worked with us for 18 months to bring our vision to reality, answering countless calls, texts, and emails to ensure every detail was perfect. The team here was incredible. Our sales rep Amanda was awesome - we immediately had good vibes as she was so responsive via email and phone. She met with us multiple times, including a detailed walkthrough onsite before we signed--which helped us feel confident and informed. We really appreciated how transparent they were about pricing, clearly laying out the packages so there were zero surprises. Our event manager, Makenna, was equally helpful and easy to work once we signed and kicked off the planning process. The venue itself is stunning and so flexible. We loved having so many layout options for the ceremony and reception, letting us customize everything. The location itself was unbeatable. It's right in the heart of downtown Monterey, with numerous hotels in walking distance. Despite it being so central, he venue still feels tucked away and private, and there was tons of space for everyone to spread out during the reception. Have to give a HUGE shoutout to the kitchen staff as the food was absolutely insane. We went with the "stations" buffet-style dinner, and our guests are still raving that it was the best wedding food they've ever had (the variety and quality were incredible). The staff was so on top of it. I've never seen a buffet line move so fast. Plus, having multiple bars meant getting a drink was never a hassle. They were also super great about handling all the dietary restrictions, which everyone appreciated. The staff's attention to detail was spot-on. They were so calm and professional, you barely noticed they were there, but everything ran perfectly. The Barns gave us everything we wanted and more--a stress-free day, beautiful location, and the best food that left a lasting impression.
