Everything was excellent. Zane was our server great personality very knowledgeable about the food and drinks. Definitely coming back.

We've been here a few times now for special occasions and you really can't beat the view at sunset. Service is usually pretty good, the warm bread is always yummy. My go to is coconut shrimp! Or any of their steaks. If you tell them you are celebrating something ahead of time they specialize the menu which is cute.

We've been coming to Chart house for years. I've been hesitant write a review because I don't want the secret out but Zane is amazing, food is top notch, view is sublime. If you want mediocre food, horrible service and less than pleasant views, do not go here. If you want to have the best meal in Monterey, drop all plans and go visit Chart House!

Back after 9 years another Birthday celebration Service: 4/-5 Food selection: filet mignon and shrimp scampi 3 half /5 salmon with rice, 4/5 Caesar salad 4/5 Cream spinach 2/5 The steak had a decent flavor, but I didn't like the cut too or texture It was kinda weird chewy ; the salmon and rice dish had a good flavor and the Caesar salad was good Nice presentation; the calamari was really good and I usually don't it calamari but this sweet and spicy sauce they put on it with all the add-ons was so good. I've have creamed spinach multiple places and this one just didn't do it for me. It was clumpy. It didn't have flavor. It just didn't give the cream spinach taste that Im used to. I wouldn't order this again. I also enjoyed a good lemon drop. Service: 4/5 service was good very attentive patient and professional Ambience; 10/10 I love the ambience. The chart House has one of the best views & ambience inside and out! If you're lucky to get a window seat, the decor is very nice and all of the staff seem to be very nice and attentive. Conclusion: when I am in the area, I will definitely stop by again. I love this place. The food is pretty good for the price point but the steaks definitely could use some work. They definitely need to choose a little better cut of meat but overall everything else was pretty good. I enjoyed my birthday dinner and also my cute little birthday dessert thank you chart House. See you again.

As many times as my husband and I have visited Monterey, this was the first time trying Chart House. It was my birthday so I really wanted something special. We showed up at our reserved time and we were seated immediately. Our waiter was super friendly and accommodating for our meal requests. The place was pretty busy, but service was great. The decor is absolutely beautiful, filled with rich woods that gave it a very romantic cozy feel. Since I had already had seafood for lunch, I decided to try the prime rib and OMG, it was amazing. It was cooked at the perfect medium, and was so tender and flavorful. I added a loaded baked potato, which topped it all off. The lobster bisque and clam chowder were top notch and both delicious. They also provided a lovely birthday candle on my dessert! Did I mention my dessert was a lava cake? It was to die for and I ate it all even though I was so stuffed before it even came. I will definitely return and I highly recommend!

Had a great experience during happy hour. For happy hour, you sit at the bar or in the designated area of the restaurant. My family enjoyed their happy hour drinks. Delicious food, great views of the water. Their lot was full so we parked on the street, no issues. My favorites were the tacos, calamari, and tuna over rice.

Beautiful Views, But a Major Miss on the Food I've been to a number of Chart House locations over the years and have generally had great experiences, so I was excited to visit the Monterey spot. The location and views are, as expected, stunning. However, the experience with the food was unfortunately a real letdown, starting with the fresh raw oysters. While the oysters themselves seemed to be of fine quality, the shucking was honestly terrible. Several of them had fragments of shell and even some mud left on the edges. The adductor muscle wasn't released on the bottom of any of them, so I found myself having to awkwardly cut each one loose and flip it over myself before I could eat it. The most glaring issue was one oyster that had a hole completely smashed through the bottom of the shell, and it was full of shell fragments. It was completely inedible. I pointed this out to our server, and to their credit, they were very professional about it. They promptly brought out a single replacement oyster, and this one was perfect--beautifully shucked, muscle released, and properly turned. It showed me what should have been served in the first place. Moving on from the appetizers, the rest of the meal was also hit-or-miss. The salad bar was nice and had a good selection. Unfortunately, our main entrees didn't fare as well. My halibut was dry, and my boyfriend's prime rib was surprisingly tasteless. Ultimately, the best part of our dinner was the nice view. While the service recovery on the oyster was appreciated, it's disappointing to have such fundamental errors in preparation and execution from a restaurant like Chart House, from the appetizers through the main courses. This experience definitely fell short of the standards I've come to expect from the brand.

Not sure where to start here. Overall the experience was not bad but it definitely wasn't great. Our starters of the crispy tuna was 80% rice (without seasoning) and 20% spicy tuna that did not really taste fresh at all- skip this. I ordered the "chefs special" miso black cod and it was so incredibly bland and the bed of vegetables could have been a frozen mic from trader joe's. Maybe it was just my dish because everyone else liked their meals (lamb and steak), but man don't recommend the chef's special, OR hype it as the special for that matter, if it is going to be poorly executed. I will say the Mud pie was so yummy and I would actually go back to order just that hahaha. They messed up our creme brulee so they gave us a free hot chocolate lava cake (also chefs special go figure) and it was dry and not very good- probably why it was free. Overall, you aren't going here for the food, mostly the oceanside views.

We decided to come here for a date night. We were seated by the water which was pretty and nice! The customer service was amazing and the explanation of the dishes was good. Our server/bartender and host was really attentive and cool. Unfortunately, the food was alright. It wasnt something to write back home about. I really liked the restaurant as a whole, but I wish the food was a little bit better. Especially for the price. I don't want to take away from the people who work there, I just wish the food was a little better.

We came back because we had come once prior years ago and remembered the food being good.. this time I would say it has changed. Can't say we'll re-visit, restaurant is pretty, great ocean views and staff was kind and friendly but food was ehh for the price Oysters 3/10 *we sent them back because they weren't clean well at all- lots of shells Halibut 8/10 *pretty good but nothing I'd go back for. Fish was cooked well though Filet Mignon 7/10 *lacked flavor Kids Salmon 3/10 *undercooked, no seasoning/flavor Kids Burger 7/10 *very small, very dry

Asparagus side

Absolutely no options for vegetarians except for a salad bar. Mostly meat and seafood entries. I declined the vegetarian burger since there would be cross contamination when being grilled on the same pan as the meat. The offer of a vegetable pasta was not very appetizing. Great for meat and sea food lovers. Not for vegetarians.

Just a short walk from our hotel Clement, who went out for a late dinner. It's my wife's birthday weekend so wanted a nice dinner. We didn't arrive till about 8:30 at night so we were easily seated at a window table on the bay. The server Kimberly greeted us and provided friendly service throughout without being overly intrusive.. The restaurant is big and it wasn't crowded because it was late. I got the Caesar salad, which was in a toasted Parmesan bowl and was very good. My wife got the beet salad, which is unlike anything I've ever seen and it was a very big portion. We both got the lobster bisque and it was delicious. My wife got the lobster and I got the black cod which was buttery and cooked to perfection. Topped it off the cappuccino and had no room for dessert.

Filet mignon and wine

The food was phenomenal, we got the grilled and chilled artichoke appetizer and I ordered a 9oz filet mignon and a glass of cabernet. The steak was cooked perfectly and all the food was delicious. Our server, Zane, was very attentive and did a great job! The view was stunning and the vibe of the restaurant was very nice. Would love to come back sometime!

Are you open ? Having calling several times today and no answer.

Closed on Saturdays, closes early on Friday afternoons at 3PM I believe.

Would you say this place is Kid Friendly? Would love to come here for dinner but have a fussy toddler and newborn baby as well in my group?

They have a small lot with parking, which is fine if you get there early. You pick up a menu from the counter and order, then grab a table and wait for the buzzer to go off. The space is casual and stuff is served on paper plates, so this is not a date night place! It's really cute with all of their nautical themed decorations. They also have a bunch of merchandise and food related gift items, if you're looking for the perfect souvenir. Employees were friendly and helpful. We ordered these items: Fish and Chips - highly recommended! They're fresh and have that classic flavor you're craving. We saw a lot of folks getting this one. Not a surprise! You get 4 hearty pieces, hot and crisp. The "chips" had a bit of batter and were crisp on the outside and moist and tender on the inside. Perfect! Comes with a tiny scoop of coleslaw. Sablefish with butter - the person at the counter said it just came in today. It was super fresh and cooked just perfectly. Sablefish isn't super fatty nor dry, it's just perfect. Veggies were fresh and cooked throughly with just a touch of crunch. Rice pilaf is quite flavorful and delicious, just a touch greasy, but in a good way! Sand Dabs - DH noticed this special after we already ordered, but he couldn't resist. Cost was based on weight + $8 for cooking. They were lightly battered and absolutely delicious. Clam Chowder (smallest size) - surprisingly good too. They must've improved their recipe since the last time we ate here. It's very thick and hearty with delicious, sweet, small pieces of clam. Overall, a fun place for a fresh, casual meal. You'll need to bus your own table after eating. Bathrooms are outside in the back. It's not as crowded as the fancier restaurants. Kids loved the food. I got the Cioppino, wife got the Crab Pasta and the kids got Fish N Chips + Chicken Tenders. I was very surprised to see a generous amount of crab in my soup. At some places, you get a claw and check that box off but not here. In addition to the real crab, there was a few giant shrimp, mussels, clams, fish, and calamari. Man...everything was very fresh and delicious. I would even have to probably say the best I've ever had! The soup was seasoned to perfection and not too tart. My wife's crab pasta was also very good! I shared mine with her and we swapped for a bit just to sample other dishes here. The kids plates were also high quality as expected from this nice restaurant inside the Monterey Plaza Hotel. To make my bday weekend even better I was able to score a spot right in front of the hotel which isn't easy since it was a non-raining Saturday. Shortly thereafter, the host presented me with an indoor table, claiming that I would still have a view of the ocean through the window. Unfortunately, the view was obstructed by other diners, and I could barely see the ocean. As tables became available, I requested to be seated at one of them, but was denied due to the "lunch service". It was perplexing to see other patrons being seated at those same tables. Given the subpar experience, I opted not to leave a gratuity and because they do not accept cash.

We were a party of 11, so my daughter called ahead to make reservations for our group (5 adults and 6 children). They do have a kids menu and crayons and a coloring sheet of bay creatures to keep the younger ones in your party busy until the food comes. I got the Wedge Salad with Chicken. It includes a wedge of iceberg lettuce with blue cheese crumbles, bacon, tomatoes, and a HUGE amount of seriously tasty grilled chicken, all topped with ample blue cheese dressing ($28) and there was such a diversity of orders in our group that I cannot even remember everything ordered. Everyone seemed to enjoy their food. Prices are about what you expect for a sit down restaurant on Cannery Row in Monterey (high). Service was a bit uneven. We were seated right away because we did have reservations. However, our food did not all come out at the same time. The child sitting next to me did not get her pasta dish until everyone else was almost done with their meal. We had to ask to have our water glasses refilled. Some items that were requested when we placed our order came out too late to be consumed with the meal (example, requested pickles for a sandwich came out after the sandwich had already been consumed). Now for the challenges: There are no parking facilities near this restaurant (the hikes from parking garages and lots is quite far on unlevel terrain). The bathrooms are in the basement down some very steep stairs and there is no elevator for the mobility impaired. The layout of the kitchen in relationship to the entry to the resaurant, the kitchen, the stairway to the rest rooms and the dining areas is very awkward--leaving patrons with the feeling that as they enter or exit the dining areas or try to get to the bathrooms, they are in the way of servers bringing large trays of food from the kitchen.

It was exactly what I wanted and a large serving that was perfect for the both of us. I have absolutely no complaints about the food. The service however was bad. There is a bar in one room and additional bar style seating in another. We took a seat at the bar style seating (not the actual bar) since it was self seating and the restaurant was mildly busy. I took a bite of the dessert and then immediately put my card down so that she could take it whenever she came back. She did not check on us again for a full 40 minutes. The only reason she ended up coming up to us is because I was turned in my barstool waiting for her with the bill in my hand. We wanted to ask for napkins since we were eating what was essentially ice cream cake and didn't even get those until we were actively leaving. The dessert was good, but I hate when a restaurant offers self seating and then does not do a good job actually servicing it. Then, our server came and took our order. We basically only ordered one thing plus a chowder, and he didn't hassle us to order more or to order drinks. I asked if it would be enough for us and he said, yes. So here's what we got: Fisherman's Wharf Cioppino - $48 (Added a cup of chowder, which is $6 vs. à la carte at $12) And here's what we thought: Clam Chowder: Thick (maybe even thiccccc) and creamy and plenty of clams in it; it's legit! Cioppino: Wow! Plenty of flavor and also plenty of seafood in it - shrimp, fish filet (there was salmon and white fish), clams, mussels and crab. We asked for more bread to soak up all the sauce, and without hesitation, they brought it to us without charging us. Nowadays, most places don't give you free bread so when a place does, sometimes, the second round might be a charge. But no, free. Yay! We were quite full after. So no dessert. They offered more water for us and noticing I had a water bottle, my server actually filled it up for me. Given it was seafood and with tax and tip, it was $70 for two people. Sure, a little pricey but given how much stuff we got and the great service, we felt it was worth it and a good value!
