The bullet casings in the entry brick wall below the cool murals . A sever made sure to point out the bullet casings & story .
John K.

Finally able to visit the new second location of Charro Steak & Del Rey North which initially opened late August 2025. It's been trending on Yelp Tucson and since the opening and have been told very busy reservation's reccomended . Arrived 4pm for late lunch ( opens at 3pm ) without reservations but was seated in the large glassed surrounded dining area formerly Charro Vida. I asked if the cod was available as was highly recommended by one owner Sasha Flores & also Miriam manager at El Charro Ventana, but told it must have been a special as not on the large menu . Ironically, when I visited Charro Vida I had the carne asada which I've also tried at Charro Steak & del Rey first downtown location both were excellent . We decided to forego the apps but were served chips with Charros rustica salsa which is enjoyable & unique ( maybe available to buy bottled to take home). My friend ordered the Charrochurri salmon which comes with a unique topping of with what looked like tomatoes, onions ,chilies, herbs ,& olive oil ask about the topping as might not be accurate . It came with a mesquite charring and a simple tortilla of choice . My friend loves salmon but said would prefer it without the special Charrochurri topping but was satisfied. I pondered eager to try the cod unavailable , so I went with the Charro burger which I've had a couple times before at happy hour downtown ( m-f. 3-6pm) . It's a great steak burger not hamburger I'm told made from a variety of steak cuttings ground into a large half pound (?) burger with a special sauce lettuce tomato and other options available . My last burger downtown I ordered grilled onions but not again as it turned into a true slider " falling apart ,to consider. The steak burger consistently good at this location as well comes with their special fries which I ordered on the side came which was huge severing size we shared . The burger bun has the logo burned in the top & assumed locally made it does its job holding the large burger together. Braxton our helpful, attentive, & enthusiastic server was great ,thank you. The decor was cool in a vaquero steakhouse theme so nicely done by I believe Rey Flores himself who also has a design background . Mesquite everywhere ,tables, chairs , on the posts , and like downtown private room areas in back for parties or work presentations with stacks of mesquite logs creating privacy walls. The large vaquero themed murals at the entry( no good pics check for on Yelp) are very cool & I was asked by a server to notice the unique bullet casings in the brick walls below the mural ! I was impressed with a wall hanging in the dining area made from multiple western belts with buckles intertwined to make a unique large wall hanging ,well done!( picture doesn't do it justice) I must say the decor is as impressive & the food which consistently good as well . I've also tried the highly regarded Lobster Queso Fundido app & tableside guacamole downtown before but not on this visit . Leaving over an hour later the active bar area was buzzing filled and restaurant filling up inside and the outside patio as well. Located in one of the first NW shopping malls by developer Nannini with loads of custom character in burnt adobe & unique individual charm & character . A real plus is the large free parking lot to the west which is much easier to navigate than parking downtown. That said i like both locations . I've been patiently waiting to try the new NW Charro Steak & I will be back !

We've been going to charro steak downtown for years as an annual wedding anniversary tradition since we got married at the Stilwell House nearby (also owned by the Flores family!). Their food is completely unmatched and oh boy we are so grateful they've brought this wonderful addition to the north side of Tucson. Since they've opened Charro Steak North, we have dined on three separate occasions, and every experience gets better and better. The inside is beautiful and quaint, and the seating is always so comfortable. We always come with a reservation, and we are kindly greeted and seated by the best wait staff in town. The table side guacamole is a must try! They use the freshest avocados, and if my kids were allowed, they would even lick the bowl! We recently tried the seafood tower, and everything was absolutely delectable. The strip,T-bone and filets are incredible. However, my go to is always the Carne Asada skirt steak. The chicken tortilla soup is the best in town. On our last visit, we got one of each dessert, and I am still dreaming about that incredible salted caramel flan! Charro steak is a must try. Supporting this wonderful local family and everything they have brought to our incredible community is a must.

I love Charro steak downtown. I was pretty disappointed in the special they served on Easter this year. It was Lamb, but it was pretty much inedible. I did end up sending it back because it was 3/4 just fat and I'm pretty sure the server knew when she dropped my food that she shouldn't have dropped it because she did end up coming back in saying that she was just gonna take it off of our check for us. The escargot was great. My husband ordered a steak and shrimp which he thought was great. My daughter didn't particularly like the mac & cheese. It was very dry and my other daughter didn't have any complaints about the kids steak. Overall the service was good. I thought our waitress was very nice and apologetic, but I definitely would never order a holiday special there again. I'm giving it three stars because the food besides the special was still good as well as the service. We had no problem getting a last-minute reservation on Easter night either which was nice because it wasn't too crowded or loud inside.

I love the decor at Charro Steak. The hostesses are delightful. The table for six was perfect. The filet mignon: excellent. Sides:good. Tableside Caesar: an overdressed mess. Hint to the salad team, sometimes less is better. The service: okay. We enjoyed our evening until it was time to pay. The server had a really hard time with this part. She told us our gratuity was included. Unfortunately it took so long to get our checks we all signed and left. Today I noticed a separate $50 and change charge. I was just getting ready to call and inquire about this odd charge when I realized the tip never was included. How can a server get that wrong??? So when you figure $50 was 1/3 of the tip, it was a pricey evening. Annoying, but a really good steak. Probably won't rush back.

$3 each happy hour oysters

The new Charro Steak North location is wonderful. This was previously Charro Vida. I love how they opened up the space and the Western vibes. Dwayne is the man, so personable and great service. He even told us the origin story of Caesar salad while making us a table side Caesar. The food was delicious, I especially liked the $3 happy hour oysters. The steak comes with homemade flour tortillas and beans. Very cool that you can request complimentary tallow fried chips and salsa! My only negatives were that the wooden table was uneven/wobbly when cutting a steak and my drink was small, mostly ice.

I've been a big fan of Charro Steak & del Rey downtown since they opened, so it's great that Charro Steak has a second location -- and at this one it's a lot easier to find parking! The food is still excellent. If you like escargot, the Charro Escargot is a must-have. Honestly, having tried (and liked) basically everything on the menu, it's my favorite thing they make. The escargot is swimming in garlic butter, topped with carne seca and queso fresco. Add a squeeze of lemon and it's perfection! Other excellent starters and sides include the Chilled Jumbo Shrimp, the Ahi Ceviche, the Charro Fries, and the Serious Brussels. The Carne Asada steak is very good as well, extremely flavorful and well-cooked. You also can't go wrong with the Salmon con Charrochurri, Branzino Veracruz, or the Pollo Asado! Lots of wonderful entree options, and I've also made tapas-style meals out of a few appetizers and sides. Service was pretty slow when we went the other night, which felt a bit surprising, but given other folks' positive service experiences, I'd certainly give them the benefit of the doubt before assuming that was the norm.

First time in and figured, 'let's try it.' The atmosphere is amazing The food menu also looks great. The service could use some work. The manager came out and made it right. He noticed the lack of detail and tool Control. Turned this experience around Memos flight great Not a Bloody Mary fan but tried it and loved it. Ordered ahi cevechi and prickly pear albo. Both really good Ahi took the cake. We will come back for a round two

I'm so glad this location opened on this side of town! My visit to the new spot was great! The atmosphere felt welcoming and the service was excellent. Our waiter made us feel right at home. Every dish we tried was delicious. I had the Surf & Turf Enchiladas Banderas. They were so flavorful and the Carne Asada was really good too. I'll probably end up getting that the next time I come. The way they bring out the Chiles al Fuego is really cool too and recommend ordering those if you like chiles and want to put on a little experience for your table. All in all this new location is a win. I'll absolutely be returning.

Last month we dined at Charro Steak North and I ordered the Charro Skillet with scrambled eggs, papas de la casa and added chorizo, and I'm telling you, this dish absolutely delivered. Fluffy scrambled eggs folded together with seasoned potatoes, peppers mixta, three cheeses melting into every bite, all brought together with that creamy, smoky raja sauce. It's the kind of flavor combination that just works. And the chorizo? It added this incredible depth and spice that took everything to another level. The way the heat from the chorizo played off the richness of the eggs, tres quesos, and that velvety raja sauce, this is the kind of brunch that reminds you why you go out to eat in the first place. This is easily one of the most well-executed brunch dishes I've had in recent memory. With layered flavors, proper seasoning, and components that actually complement each other instead of just sitting on the same plate. Now, if you're not in to spice, I'd skip the chorizo or opt for bacon instead. Overall great experience and even better to have our friend and neighbor Kathy with us! Makes everything much better. Thank you, Kathy for brunch. Bottom line: if their Charro Skillet isn't on your brunch radar for 2026, it should be. You're missing out.

Shishito Peppers
Donna Y.

Great food and service. The arrival of food is slower but good things take time especially since everything is made to order. The roasted shishito peppers are served flambé tableside and are in a soy sauce for extra flavor. The steaks are perfection. The noise level isn't too bad for the size of the restaurant. The decor is charro western and feels comfortable

What a great addition to the area. They were completely booked online but we took a chance and went anyway and there were several seats open at the bar. Score! The music was perfect and wasn't loud like others mentioned. The ambiance is so cool, like an old western cowboy type place. I love the unique touches with belts and the mural behind the bar is beautiful. We shared the 1/2 lb burger which was $5 off for happy hour (normally $20). Definitely one of the best burgers around, it was cooked perfectly and super juicy. I also got a half salad which was yummy. The chocolate peanut butter tres leches is one of my new favorite desserts in town. It was so light and not overly sweet. We loved every bite. I would go back in a heartbeat.

Love the new charro steak north! My favorite was the ceviche and the french toast on fire. I also enjoyed the charro in the storm cocktail. They had a DJ here on Sunday and a Bloody Mary bar with the toppings for your drinks. The service is excellent. When I come to the charro restaurants they always treat you like family. I will definitely be back soon.

We were celebrating a birthday and the birthday card that was presented at the dinner table was a nice touch. My cousin also received some chocolate bon bons that were really good. My family and I shared the oysters, shrimp cocktail, onion rings, potatoes au gratin, pork chops, and rib eyes; for dessert, we shared the lava cake. Everything was made perfectly. The chops and steaks were juicy, the seafood was plump and fresh and the entree sides were hot and tasty. The bon bon chocolate was rich and velvety. I wish the chocolate in the lava cake was just as good, but it was a smidge not as rich in flavor. Nonetheless, we all left the restaurant full and very happy. I wholeheartedly recommend going to Fleming's and enjoying a nice steak dinner.

We made a reservation well in advance and even then there were limited time options. The atmosphere of the restaurant is slightly upscale while still being cozy. I love all the plants! Our server was very knowledgeable and was able to give several recommendations. We ordered the grilled and chilled beets and the steak skewers for appetizers. The beets and everything that came with them was very fresh! I love anything with pickled onions. The steak appetizer was excellent and my dad could not stop talking about them. Next, I ordered the swordfish special and my dad got the pork chop. Everything was cooked to perfection and flavor was everywhere! For dessert we split the dark chocolate ganache. The ganache was very rich but paired wonderfully with the whipped cream and other flavors. I don't drink, but my dad also loved the cocktails he ordered! If Tito & Pep has been on your list do not hesitate any longer. I very much regret not coming here sooner and I highly recommend giving it a try!

Suffice to say she absolutely raved - placing it on par with many of the Michelin Bib Gourmand restaurants she has sampled back east. And, we agreed, when Michelin publishes its first-ever SouthWest U.S. edition later this year (2026) I recognize getting a star is a mighty fete but if Tito/Pep does not at least make its S.W. Bib list I will know the fix is in. We started with the Queso Fundido ($13) - with chewy cheese, sauteed mushrooms, and beef chorizo it was a perfect blend of meaty/savory/fatty. We also ordered the Grilled Octopus ($17). What a surprise this was, the crunchy roasted pepper flakes and unusually soft grilled octopus it kicked the pants off of "calamari-style." We inquired and the way they remove the typical rubberiness is by poaching the octopus tentacles for 5(!) hours before grilling. You Go chef Martinez! For our entree we opted for the day's special: deep fried whole Red Snapper for two ($85)... as did about a half-dozen other tables in this intimate 20-tabled venue. See pics as a written description is inadequate. The crisp was excellent and the tender moist fish just beneath, exquisite. The roasted jalapenos were other worldly - somehow only mild heat and with a subtle sweet/acid presence... totally and entirely edible. As fantastic as the vinegar slaw was atop our self-made fish tacos, the tomatillo puree was ridiculous - so fresh and not sour that its scent was nearly as strong as its flavor. We asked again, how?! and were told they first cook the tomatillos for 3 hours. Folks, the effort involved to present this kind of meal would be nearly impossible to do at home for even double the cost. We concluded with the ganache dessert ($12). While so richly decadent it was possibly too rich, only by virtue of its size... it needs to be shared! We were deeply torn over that or the olive oil cake and will opt for the latter... next year, Lol. For drinks we ordered two glasses of their "red blend" (really good for a simple blend) and then the Pie Allen after dinner cocktail ($13) - an interesting combination of prickly pear liquor and port. The staff were amazing - not just in timely attentiveness (a minimum requirement at this level) but especially in terms of being able to field our deep curiosities about several of the dishes. Due to our "layers" of ordering we stayed an easy 2+ hours and were never rushed. Parking will get tight at peak times but everyone will be accommodated. Pre-tip we were at $165 - a special occasion outing for sure but, we both agreed, an (almost) bargain. At this level of quality and degree of effort in Chicago or Miami (places she recently lived) would be closer to $250 for two. Small note: three years ago this began, now it's the norm - restaurants are calculating the tip based upon a total that's After the tax has been added. It's a minor but, nonetheless, unconsented-to, inflation of the tip. Just an fyi :)

Luckily, they put us at two long tables next to each other in the back, which was perfect, because we are a noisy group. The Cork has a very eclectic menu, very diverse. There were many choices between beef, pork, chicken and seafood, as well as Bison, lamb and venison with a few daily specials thrown in. To start off they provided wonderful breads on each table. The Cork is known as a steakhouse so many of the diners ordered steak dinners. I ordered the lobster tail which was wonderfully delicious and cooked to perfection. All of the diners commented that their dinners were cooked to their specifications, no matter what was ordered. The Cork also has a very extensive wine and cocktail menu that most of diners ordered from and were happy with their choices. Our waiter was wonderful. All of our orders were correct, which is a big job to accomplish with 18 diners in the same group. The dinners came in a timely manner, and everyone enjoyed their meals. The only issue was the Baby Back Ribs on the menu had a price of $35. However, when the check came $37 was charged for the item. When the diner pointed it out to the waiter, he stated he would fix it. Unfortunately, it did not get fixed. It went unnoticed until after we left the restaurant. Further although the reservations were made in August for this dinner, somehow our reservation was lost.
