I had booked a chimney cleaning and inspection as a precaution. We do not use the fireplace often, but I was erring on the side of caution. The service team called to let me know they were on their way. Once arrived, they listened to my concerns, took a look at the chimney from the fireplace, and advised I try their suggestions before laying out money for a cleaning and inspection that were likely not needed. They are extraordinary. They just completed their work. It was top rate. An expert in water remediation who was at my house for something else said that their final photos of the finished work looked great. Charmed Chimney was the most knowledgeable of companies who I interviewed. They identified cracks in the mortar in an area that I could not see ( but I was having water leakage) and that none of the other companies I interviewed found. They also found and repaired cracks in the crown. They showed me that the prior company went over the side in a previous repair, but their own work was neater,, But wisely they did not remove the prior substance as they did not want to disturb it. They found the mortar cracks because they went up on the roof to give me my estimate. Some companies just looked from the ground when they came!!! Charmed Chimney did not oversell me. They told me that only one chimney needed help, that the other ones are just fine!! I was worried about water leakage, and they proposed several solutions, But one, they said I could wait for. Again, not overselling me. Their stone mason was great too. I could see the quality of his work on the lower areas. Also, they were two younger guys, and VERY smart, very knowledgeable, and most of all, very respectful to me, a female. (AT least one other chimney person was sarcastic and bullying when I interviewed him). I am so happy that I found this company. It was very, very hard to locate an excellent company. The last one that my realtor suggested was terrible. He claimed to have coated the stone for water resistance, but these guys showed me that he probably didn't' ( which I guessed because I have water issues, and it's not long since that person supposedly treated). I routinely have a chimney inspection done on my rental properties before the tenant moves in. They were nice, they were polite, they showed up on time, and they gave me 1000's of memorized lines complimenting on how beautiful the house is. So if their primary job was to fish for 5 star yelp reviews, they did an outstanding job. But when it came to an actual inspection, they failed miserably. The technicians spent less than 5 minutes looking at the chimney and then spent about 15 minutes with their sales speech. We live in AA Co and out of their normal service area. But, they were able to come out the next day before noon, meet our agent, complete the inspection and provide us with a report on the spot.
