I take my fur baby here bcuz they're close by but I assure you I would choose safety over convenience any time... this is our last visit here.I have been coming here when they were known as McCormick's Pet Emporium. Never had a major accident here before but 2 months ago she had serious razor burns on both sides of her under arms & thigh. I didnt see this until i brought her home. I immediately brought this to the store's attention & my call was passed to the store owner & he talked a good talk on the phone. He told me he wanted to make things right & offered a huge discount on my next visit but cannot issue refund for this visit. He wouldn't say how much of a discount except that it is a huge discount & will apply to my next visit. Comes today when I bought my fur baby for a full grooming, I was only offered 15% off by Victor. He says that's the usual maximum discount for issues like razor burns. Continued to say that he can't offer more of a discount because he has to pay his groomer. How is that the customer's responsibility when it's their groomer whom caused my fur baby to suffer for those couple of weeks. This is our last visit here not because of the discount but the attitude i received from Victor. He acted as if he didn't care & spoke on behalf of the store owner. When this location was McCormick's Pet Emporium, I would bring my cats here to get groomed. I didn't have any issues then, but I came today because I wanted my sweet boy to look good for some photos as this was the last time he was going to be groomed. My cat had gone to the emergency room twice in the past week and a half, and we were told to prepare ourselves. So, I planned a photo shoot. I went in the morning and the clerk that helped me was so sweet (she is the only reason worth going). I was very specific and we discussed a trim and keeping Henry's face the same. I mentioned he had been shaved a little on his side because of the ER, but I didn't want him shaved. The sweet clerk whose name I didn't catch told me when I picked up Henry that the groomer, Edgar, somehow mixed up the paperwork despite her going in four times to make sure he knew what I wanted. Her co-worker confirmed that she went in. They were going to offer a discount for the "next time," but hearing that made me break down in tears because there wouldn't be a next time. She was so sweet to us and apologized profusely. I know it was not her fault and her kindness was so appreciated. She was so sweet to my Henry. I cried the entire time walking out, but I do want her to know that I appreciate her and I hope the owner knows that she deserves a raise, and better not dock her pay because of her kind heart. Now, my baby is shaved and I will never get to see his beautiful stripes again. I am so heartbroken. I want to cry even now as I write this. I found nicks on Henry (cuts), and he was traumatized from the experience. I did see the owners response to someone else Who commented about the smell of urine. It does smell like urine, and ammonia. The place that I take my dogs to get groomed is also a pet store similar to this one and it does not smell like that. It's not about not wanting to be in a place that has animals or appreciating animals. If the Groomer appreciated animals, he would have listened to what I wanted, been aware that my son was going through a traumatizing experience, is dying and made sure to keep him safe and comfortable. read more

I went to Super Pets Today Saturday 5/30/2026 to get some feeder rats and dog food and was told that they were closing permanently on Sunday. I was so bummed. But I was told by someone that Charlie's Pet world in Alhambra had what I needed, so I went there and it was awesome! They had everything from Feeder Rats/mice, to other cool animals and birds to chicken food that I have to drive all the way to El Monte to get. It's all here and Victor helped me with questions and there was only 15 minutes left till closing, but he said he would wait till I got there. Very helpful very hospitable and treated me like he knew me well! Thanks Victor! I will be bringing all my pet needs to your store now! read more

We took our two kittens to be fully groomed with flea treatment. They washed and shaved them. Trimmed their nails and cleaned their ears. We return and brought my Gpas cat for the same service since they did a great job on Our cats. Owner is very friendly and accommodating. read more

We used to take our dogs here regularly when it was Pet Emporium. However, ever since Leslie, the groomer sold the business it's gone downhill. The last couple of times we've had appointments they have ran increasingly long and the quality of the groom was just ok. I decided to give them one more try before moving on and that was a big mistake. One of my dog's ears a matted and instead of combing out the mats or cutting his hair, they just brushed over them. I paid for a full groom. They also used the wrong blade or a blade without a guard when trimming my dog's face and now his nose is scraped pretty bad. I won't go back and cannot recommend this business. read more

I honestly don't know how this place has any good reviews. There was no air conditioning and it smelled so badly of urine and too many animals that I gagged. The staff I could identify were all wearing headphones and didn't greet me or even acknowledge I'd walked in. The groomer wasn't there when I arrived, so I took my dog and left. I usually hate to do last bookings but after 5 calls to 5 other places they accepted our little puppy. ( this is not encouraging people to do last minute appointments ) we just got really lucky Service was amazing and quick of course, my wife gave some pretty specific instructions for the trim and they nailed it! Our puppy was in great hands the employees were so sweet, friendly and professional. Location is so convenient being on main street, literally ran some errands ate lunch and she was done ready to go. Clean grooming work area is so important as well. Ample parking on the curb too, the retail store has alot of birds also not just dog / cat stuff. We'll be coming back for sure read more

Lisa reached out to me and asked if I was interested in stopping by for my cat, Mochi's grooming since I used to take my cat to McCormick's and now there's new ownership. I told her that I haven't been to McCormick's in ages because of how they conducted business. I mentioned that my cat may be aggressive and difficult but if they're willing I'd love to make an appointment. Ended up making an appointment for Saturday and went in. Lisa was so welcoming and sweet. She and the groomer Marcos genuinely love animals. They said that my cat was so good, docile, and calm. I was in shock because those are not the words I'd describe my cat! I'm ecstatic that my cat allowed himself to be handled and groomed. I'm a loyal client and will definitely be back when Mochi needs future grooming. Lisa also gave me some sample food to take home for my dog and cat which I was grateful for since my dog is such a picky eater and it's a great way for him to try out foods. This place is so sad. Overcrowded enclosures, dirty cages, they should not be selling some of the animals they have without providing proper enclosures. Great service here. & Marcos the groomer is amazing! I brought my puppy in here on a Sunday because she had a nail issue... and Marcos was very very patient with her & handled her with so much care! I walk in. No human inside. (just a bunch of chirping birds.) I say "Hello". loudly... Nothing.. i call the store 3 times... Nothing. I say "Hello" loudly one more time. suddenly an employee walks to the front. I said "Hi, I want to pay for your grooming services." (50LBS golden doodle) She immediately had a flurry of emotions about the process. (disrupted, disappointed, inconvenienced, bothered) Just to be clear, they have a MENU just above the desk. Prices for dogs per pound, plus additional prices for de-matting, difficulty, etc... (AND I WALKED IN FULLY WILLING TO PAY FOR THOSE EXTRA PRICES + anything unexpected + TIP). The lady called her manager on the phone. The lady then handed me the phone where I saw the caller ID had the name "VICTOR". Victor and I had a short and direct conversation where he informed me that it is easier to just shave her down. I said, "Victor, i've been through this process with other groomers, I'm willing to pay for all the services + extra fees + generous tip. I just want the job done right and with care." He agreed, understood, and seemed totally reasonable. I handed the lady's phone back to her, they exchanged a few words and she ended the call with Victor. But after the call, the employee kept acting like she didn't understand what I wanted. She did. She just didn't want to do the job. It was written all over her. I understand grooming isn't easy, but this isn't hazardous waste cleanup--it's a dog grooming business. Her energy was lazy and uninterested. I get it there are dirty jobs out there...and this isn't a lemonade stand... but its pretty darn close! SO.... I told her how I felt, and I left. Here is how I feel about this experience: There's nothing more frustrating than someone who has a job--but clearly doesn't want to do it. I didn't trust her with my dog. I felt like I'd be paying someone who had no pride in their work. And when it comes to a pet, that's simply not good enough. read more

Everyone here is super friendly! And Lisa was so professional in getting my dog checked in for a bath and groom and filling out the paperwork. Unfortunately, that's pretty much where it stopped. Since coming here, my dog has been scratching and itching non-stop! AND I paid for a trim and it looked like my dog didn't even get one. HERE ARE THE DETAILS: They HIGHLY encouraged me to give my dog a summer cut which I repeatedly declined -- about 5 times. After picking my dog up, I see why. It looked as though hadn't even been trimmed. Lisa was so kind in having my dogs coat trimmed again. But it was ALMOST as though nothing had even been done, except this time, her coat was still long and now uneven. I was also appalled when Lisa shared she was grooming a dog days prior and noticed a waterbug, and how her dogs had caught flees. Of course, I was told this AFTER the fact. And what do you know? My dog has been scratching herself like CRAZY IMMEDIATELY after leaving this place! And this was AFTER I paid for a flee treatment as extra backup. It was so bad that hours later, my friend picked me up and said "Why is your dog scratching like that? You should take her to get a bath". I told him she had JUST come from getting a bath TWO hours ago. My dog has NEVER in her LIFE scratched and itched that way. In terms of the cut, my theory is that they encourage a summer cut, which is basically a bald dog because they don't know how to do any other trims! I was so disappointed. ALSO if you pay with credit card, MAKE SURE YOU DOUBLE CHECK THE AMOUNT IS CORRECT BEFORE YOU APPROVE THE PAYMENT!! The first time, the amount was double. And when I pointed it out to Lisa, she corrected it. But when she canceled and restarted the transaction a second time, the amount was 30% higher. I called it out the third time (AGAIN), and it we canceled and restarted again and it was FINALLY fixed. Was it a coincidence that Lisa was extremely chatty when it was time for me to slide my credit card?? Who knows, but I won't be returning to find out. So, if you want: - Your dog to be around waterbugs - To pay for a trim without getting one, - Potentially give your dog flees, AND - Potentially have them "accidentally" try to overcharge you, THIS IS YOUR PLACE! Just got off the phone w Lisa. How did I never know about this place right by me !! They have cockatoos, they do parrot boarding ($6/night), parrot nail trimming ($10), parrot beak filing ($10), and wing clipping ($15 - I have not tried wing clipping but thought I'd still list the prices for everything that I heard about here in case it is informative for anybody that does). Lisa was super helpful and thanks to her and uncle Google after I typed in "parrot nail trimming in Alhambra" (for some reason they didn't pop up when I've been searching on Yelp for these things so I'm glad I tried Google today and don't know why I didn't do this earlier), I don't have to drive a whole dang hour to do all this stuff anymore for my baby boy (he's actually not technically a baby, he's a 35 year old cockatoo but he could still be my baby lol), now I have a new place nearby to take my boy to. Lisa's attitude was also super sweet and down to earth and so that makes me feel even more comfortable about this place. Someone give this woman a raise ! Thanks Lisa and also thank you for the social media info :) I would've never thought to ask so that's also nice to know, got to take a look at their Ig and Fb too (Charleyspetworld) after she told me about it. She even told me some pretty cool info about how when grooming services handle cockatoos, one of the tricks they do to prevent bites and help wrap the cockatoo and prevent them from freaking out is to cover/shade their eyes. I'm going there today now !! Saved me like a two hour round trip drive in traffic ! Also, this place used to be McCormick's Pet Emporium. But it's now called Charlys Pet World because of new ownership and management. Now it totally makes sense why nothing popped up when I typed up "parrot nails" or "parrot" near me in Alhambra on Yelp since the old place is listed as permanently closed so I'm glad I went onto search engine instead today. Please do not take your pet here. I came in to get a treat for my dog, but ended up leaving very disturbed. As I was walking through I noticed how dirty and packed the animals cages were. There was layers of poop and grime that had accumulated over time without being cleaned. I then walked into a dark room where the snakes were. As I was taking a look around I noticed a barrier, I looked over it and saw cats locked up. Maybe it's for a daycare, but the conditions they were left in could be better. Looks like they were left in a storage closet. throughout this time a man in the front was staring at us so intently. Making us very uncomfortable I noticed he was also taking pictures of me/us . I thought he was insanely creepy and unprofessional. He was heavier set wearing glasses and a hat. I suggest that the store takes their animals well being into consideration and has a talk with there employee about using their phone for inappropriate reasons read more

Took my dog here to be groomed and they did an awful job. The employee that took in my dog asked how I wanted the dog cut and then she filled in the paperwork. I said I wanted a #4 shave all over except the tail, to just trim the tail. They shaved my dog down to the coat, clearly without a shave guard. She has shave burns all over her body. It's shorter than it's supposed to be; right down to the skin. The shave was also not even, it looks like it was done by a complete amateur. Hair is choppy all over the place, face is uneven, nails were left long. They also clearly traumatized her because she's been shaking since she got home. There is no communication at all between the person that took her and the person that groomed her. I called back to complain since my husband picked her up and they took no responsibility. Kept saying the sheet specified to shave the dog down. I didn't fill out the sheet, the person that took her in did. they said they would call me back within 20 minutes but never did. Drop off my ragdoll kitten before 10am to get groomed. The guys told me she will be ready before noon. Didn't get a text to pick her up until after 2:30pm. We communicated through text and phone call. I was told she will be getting a lions cut because her fur is too matted. I was a bit skeptical but was ok with it. When I inspected her later at home. The cut was horrible. There was blood stain on her right rear leg. After washing it off, notice the cut into her skin. Her tail was also cut into her skin. Look like it was seal with liquid bandages or glue. They didn't even leave her a mane. The cut, whatever was left on her mane look like it was hacked. From the back, look like it was cut by a 10 year old kid. The fur on her body is different length also. There's fur ball all over her, look like she wasn't even bath. Her nail is the same as we brought her in. Her ear wasn't clean. Over all, it look like some kid off the street did the grooming if you even call it grooming. She was very social when we got her. Lay and cuddle with us. Now she wouldn't even let us get near her. Not even one word of apology or response from them after my text regarding this matter. They just read it and ignored my text. This place is unethical. I do not recommend this place and wouldn't want anyone else to go through this. Please don't bring your pet here for grooming. read more
