Raspberry Linzer
Amy K.

Meeting a friend for coffee, I asked her to suggest a place. This was a wonderful choice, a unique place these days, of a kind that once was ubiquitous. A coffee shop/bakery, with very good coffee. I didn't have a capp or latte, just plain coffee served in a china mug. Classy and fresh and delicious, neither too strong nor dishwater. Black and perfect. The selection of pastries is fabulous! I wanted to bring a treat home for my husband and after some deliberation, I chose the raspberry linzer. Beautiful and he was so pleased! My friend and I each chose a croissant, nothing fancy but it was straight from the oven and absolutely perfect! Crisp outside, buttery but not overwhelming inside. There are several charming and comfortable (for me) tables and chairs and there was no rush to leave. We lingered and chatted over our coffees and croissants for nearly an hour and a half. Almost every table was occupied. Order at the counter and you quickly get a tray to carry back to the table you chose ahead of time. We left our coats on the chairs. I can't wait for the next time a friend says let's meet for coffee! This is the perfect spot!

Let me preface this by saying that not all gems are where you expect them to be. Walking into Charlotte Cafe is like walking into an upscale coffee shop on 5th Ave where you'd expect it to be, but walk a little further and you'll find it on 2nd Ave. With its warm and, welcoming atmosphere, you can order one of their delicious lattes. They also have an array of baked items to choose from. I ordered their signature Mocha latte and a slice of the Iced Lemon cake. Walking towards the back for a seat, I couldn't help but notice how charming the decor is. It's like walking into a private study/library. I swear all they need is a fireplace and no one will ever leave. The staff is equally kind and friendly. I loved my latte and the cake was moist and delicious. They definitely live up to their name which is synonymous with sophistication, charm and warmth. Make your way for a cup of coffee and a bite to eat. Thank me later!

Such a great cafe to chill, catch up with friends or get some work done. I like their large assortment of sweets and other treats and drinks. While it does get rather busy, I've found that the line moves quickly, and finding a seat is much easier if you're flying solo, but even then, people are streaming in and out. It's on a busy corner right off the train so it makes sense.

Lots of seating and a decent place to chat with a friend or catch a break. I like that the seating is reasonably spaced out for New York.

Well I might have just had the best chai latte in Newyork,... this year?? It's so hard to find and Gisela was amazing, paid attention to detail and caught a mistake her colleague had made by asking me if I wanted it 'Hot' to which I responded "no chilled". The chai latte/oat milk was tasteful, smooth and yummy. It's very difficult for me to find chai that makes me want to write a review and on the same day. I will definitely return.

Cappuccino and a slice of Marble cake was just what I wanted two weeks ago after seeing The Brutalist. After a long movie and much in need of refreshment before going to listen to jazz. Two locations of this cafe are in the City. I went to the one on Second Avenue between 33rd and 34th Streets. This cafe is a welcome addition to this part of Murray Hill where there aren't many cafes. Potted plants make this cafe inviting. Bana gave me a slice of the cake and the barista made me a hot cappuccino. I sat at a table to eat leisurely. Several customers were either having something to drink or working on their laptops. The display cases held a variety of cakes and pastries along with large glass bottles with tempting cookies. Both cash and cards are accepted.

I spontaneously stopped by, since I had to walk like 10 blocks to pick up food in the area anyway. I wanted to power myself for the walk! I was greeted by the staff when I stepped to the counter, and the service was very friendly. Walking in, I also realized there was plenty of seating. One thing I appreciate was the complimentary slash of milk that was added to my freddo espresso. I took it to go, sipping it while I walked, and it was very refreshing. I would definitely return for the positive vibes if I'm ever back in the area!

This is my second time here and it's just as good as I remember! The iced mocha is so delectable! I brought my friend to try it and she LOVED it as well! The staff were very personable and kind. The vibe is perfect for studying or just catching up with people!

It's a bit overpriced and the teas are not good quality. However, the desserts are delicious. I usually split a slice of basque cheesecake with my friends. The regular and matcha have both been good in my experience. I don't like chocolate cake, so I haven't tried that variety. I wish the pumpkin was available in the smaller size too! I've tried their boba, and it isn't good. The hot teas are okay but not great. They're pretty much just syrup and milk. I would avoid the drinks and just get the desserts! I haven't personally tried the bingsoo, but I've heard good things. The waffle is alright--all in all, come here to recharge and for the basque cheesecake!

And I commonly see the upstairs for private events like baby showers, bridal showers, or birthday parties on social media. After dinner with my friends, I was looking for dessert and I was glad to see this location closes relatively late on a weekday night at 11 pm. Upon walking in, I was greeted by a waiter who led us to one of the purple velvet chair booths that was perfect for two people and another waiter brought us a pitcher of water almost immediately. The menu is on a QR code already on the table and we were given ample of time to decide. My friend and I both already knew what we wanted to order. I got the purple Yam Souffle which takes 25 minutes to make and my friend got the fried squid tails. We also got a signature Rose Green Milk Tea to share. The waitress who took our order has great memory and recalled all of our items without writing it down. She also reminded me that I could adjust the ice and sugar levels of my drink which I had completely forgotten and would have got annoyed if my drink came out 100% sweetness. Another thing is that my drink order frequently comes out wrong at other locations so I was glad she got it right! Green tea instead of black tea and with milk instead of without milk. The purple Yam Souffle is just like the other locations. Hot, soft cakey texture balanced with an ice cold red bean Ice-Cream. So delicious! The squid tails on the other hand was not what we expected. It came out burnt and hard. The outer batter was not crispy either. We informed one of the waiters and he brought it back to inform the kitchen staff. We received a new batch that was not as burnt and had more flavoring this time around. However, the squid was still hard and not like the ones we get from other locations with smaller crispier pieces. Overall, it was still a good experience and I love the decorations at this location! This might be my second favorite location after the Flushing one. Would love to come back for brunch or hi-tea. Or regular food options when I have not already eaten dinner. My usual go-tos are the twister fries, Santa Fe chicken rolls, fried salted crispy chicken, and the trio dessert combo. However, this location has a lot more variety! FYI - there are two unisex restrooms in the rear for customers to use with really cute wallpapers too.

We ordered potted rose milk tea to share, Dubai affogato and Brown Sugar Boba Mille Crêpes Cake. We came on a Friday around 4pm. Originally I wanted to try the strawberry matchamisu, however, was told that it sold out. What a bummer. The rose milk tea came with a themed pot and cups which is really cute. The rose fragrant smelled so good and the milk tea also tasted good and has a hint of rose taste. The cake was good, the boba was well cooked, chewy and flavorful! This time there was an unpleasant experience. At first when the Dubai affogato was served, we did not realize that the amount of the coffee was little until we saw another customer's dish that the volume of their coffee looked significantly more than ours. My friend brought it to the waitress attention but the waitress brushed it off and did not acknowledge our concern. When we finished and were about to leave, the same waitress came over and showed us that the container of the coffee was different and hence the volume of the coffee looked different. At this point, we did not care for it anymore. We would have been fine if the staff acknowledged our concern. We thought that maybe using standardized containers for the coffee would avoid this problem. Other than that, the food and drinks were good.

They're a little pricey, but each donut is a pretty hefty ring of chewy glutinous rice flour batter. I had them the following morning, and the donuts still tasted fresh. There was a little bit of oiliness from the frying, but it did not taste off or too greasy. I think this is from the meticulous frying process and good management of the oil.
