INDICO COFFEE CO, located on First Ave at the southeast corner of East 59th Street. You can stop here before you do your shopping at Trader Joe's. It's across the street on East 59th St. I HAD ONE OF THE MOST DELIGHTFUL and DELICIOUS CHAI LATTE. I ordered the "regular " size, and I requested almond milk. My regular size chai latte was $5.99, plus an additional charge of $.85, for my requested almond milk. I understand that. Things are up in price pretty much all around. It is May 2026. SBUX used to charge extra for almond milk, but now they don't. Maybe eventually that will happen here. But, either way, this chai latte was made fresh, right before everyone's eyes. They have a very large, professional coffee steaming thing machine-see my photos. Fantastic beverage!! Each beverage is made once you order. The huge shiny professional coffee-steamer machine reminds me of Italy, and places that take their time to make you one of the BEST BEVERAGES EVER!! So, my fellow New Yorkers, don't be in a hurry too much when you order your beverage. IT IS WORTH THE WAIT!! The woman at the front counter was very kind and it made my visit a pleasure. It is round, and apparently calling my name LOL. I had to try it, Partly for educational purposes, as well as sustenance. I asked about the type of cheese inside, silently wondering if it was sweet or savory, and secretly hoping it would be close to the cheese danishes made in the 1960's. So I am not talking about cream cheese, no sir, I'm talking about the yummy sweet cheese that was more in the farmer and cottage cheese family; that's the closest to a description of what I was hoping for. Baby Boomers who grew up in the NYC area may recall. Well, this FRESH PASTRY was delicious. It was like a combination of the type of cheese I was hoping for, along with a tiny, smooth blend of cream cheese. A well mixed, smooth, yummy light cheese on the bottom inside this fresh, round, light-as-air pastry. It was $5.99. AND I TOTALLY ENJOYED IT!! I really like it here. I love the deep, dark, blue velveteen comfortable sofas, as if you are in someone's home. There are also round tables and blue velveteen chairs at the tables. There is self-serve cold water with slices of lemon in a nice size clear container with an open/close spout. Plastic clear cups and napkins nearby. This is a lovely place. It's spacious, too. Please be patient once you place your order. You are not the only one here. The service is NOT slow, it is service aiming to be the best in making your beverage as delicious as can be. Greatness takes time!! People are working hard to provide the best to you. You can see it . Be patient. Be kind to yourself, and allow yourself the luxury of time, okay? Enjoy!! Ambiance (5/5): plenty of space, welcoming decor, and it's half open for the natural airflow. The space allows for people to sit and dine or even work on laptops. Service: Little interaction, no wait. Latte (3/5): The coffee did not have a forward flavor, almost diluted in taste. Chocolate chip croissant (1/5): You can't call this a croissant when it has a bread-like consistency... It was so dry that without my coffee I would've started coughing. I had less than half of it before I threw it out. I asked the staff if they baked it in-house and they confirmed yes. I have been to this odd cafe nearby Trader Joe's a couple of times, where I have had their alright drink specials. From the name, I presume it's the Indian Coffee Company, which would make sense given some of their specials and a handful of their snacks, but they also have a bunch of generic breakfast and lunch options, including Italian pasta of all things. The inside is nice and relaxing, and I have seen people sitting inside while working or picking up breakfast or lunch to go. The first time, I had a Vanilla Rose Latte, listed as a radiant blend infused with vanilla and rose for a subtly sweet, floral experience, for $5.50 for a small or a buck extra for a large. I got a large one, and it was fine. There was some floral flavor and a bit of vanilla sweetness, with the coffee flavor itself highly diluted by all the added flavorings. It was OK, but not worth the price. The second time, I decided to get another drink to really test their coffee quality, and I regretted it. I went with a Filter Coffee, listed as an aromatic South Indian brew with rich flavors and a velvety, creamy finish, which is the exact same price point. I have had filter coffee from plenty of places, as I love this southern Indian delicacy, and this wasn't good. It didn't taste like filter coffee, lacking any frothiness, nor was it any more aromatic than a normal coffee. I'm not sure whether the barista there had no clue how to make it, but it felt like I paid $5.50 for a mediocre cup of coffee. If the coffee drinks were good here, this place would likely be a strong competitor to all the Arabic qawah and chai spots popping up all over the city. It would probably do well, as this is one of the few neighborhoods that lacks those options. However, the more unique options aren't that tasty, and there are plenty of nearby spots I definitely prefer for a cup of coffee, such as Daniel's or Black Press, along with many others, which are higher quality and therefore worth the extra price. It's a lovely space, but I wish the quality of the coffee matched it. read more

We stopped in while walking around the neighborhood after a doctor appointment. The vibe is very inviting. We ordered a regular iced coffee and an iced cappuccino. We also ordered a croissant. The service was friendly and quick. Both drinks were refreshing. IndiCo Coffee is a pleasant cafe with plenty of seating in a fancy-ish interior. there are table, couches, and counter seats for those who are looking a nice place to eat and/or drink while working or socializing -- being antisocial lol. the menu here is pretty wide from coffee and tea options to baked eats to hot or cold meal options. stopped by here for some afternoon caffeine. landed on one of their seasonal drinks: the Early Grey Matcha Latte (iced). the drinking was refreshing and used a good balance of Early Gray tea and matcha + (plus your choice of dairy for the latte part of the drink). I really liked this drink because you could taste the black tea notes of the Earl Grey which meets the earthy flavors of the Matcha and that gets smoothed out by the latte portion (i went with whole milk). overall, it's a good drink...though, adding a bit more sweetness to this drink would improve this drink and give it a little bit more rounded out flavor profile. yeah, you could add sugar etc, but it should really be done while the drink is being made so the sweetness is more composited into the drink versus sinking to the bottom of it if you added after it's already made. service is pretty friendly and helpful. and my drink was made in about 5-10 minutes. would definitely stop here to try another one of their seasonal options or signature drinks. read more

When I walked in, the entire cafe smelled like rotting fish. It was awful, but I heard good things from a friend, so I made my way over to the counter. Ordered an Iced Americano, barista was extremely polite and service was quick. However, the Americano is awful. The espresso had a burnt taste so intense, that even some milk/half and half didn't help. Most likely will not return. read more

What a cute and spacious coffee shop. It is southern Indian inspired and it is pretty darn good. I got a black sugar maple iced latte. I had no idea what to expect. It tasted pretty much like maple syrup which I have no problem with. This location is spacious as I said above with plenty of seating. There is a cute area with couches and it seems like a cozy area to enjoy your coffee and pastries at. There is also a bar seating area, I think later on in the day you can get wine and other alcohol. Entire experience was sub par - food (avocado toast) was barely edible. Both bathrooms were OOS and one was filled with bags of garbage. Not sure how you can run a business like this. Always want to support a new biz in the neighborhood, but we won't go back. read more

The decor and seating area is very nice, spacious and comfortable to be in. However, the staff seem confused the whole time. My hearty breakfast plate arrived 30 minutes later than my friend's sandwich and by the time she was done eating, I still hadn't received my food. When we asked how long it would take, the staff said that this meal generally takes longer to make. However we saw one staff come back with groceries so I think they ran out of an ingredient so this excuse was pretty poor. If this is the case, train the staff to ask the customer if they would like a substitution instead or refund instead of assuming they can wait that long for their food. The food was alright but was something that tasted like it could be made at McDonald's within 5 minutes so the fact that I had to wait that long and it costed $16 before tax was pretty disappointing. The taste profile and cost of the butter toasted toffee latte is comparable to other coffee shops in the area and at least I didn't want to wait long for the drink, unlike the food. I genuinely want this restaurant to do well since it seems like a lot of money went into investing into renovations and the rent is presumably very high for a large space like this. But unless the service and food gets better, I am concerned that this business will not last very long. I hope the owner sees this constructive feedback and makes the necessary improvements. read more

The coffee is 10/10. Very unique flavors that are always great. The food is maybe 5/10 about average. Wish they would add more Indian food to the menu. It would be a very welcome addition to the neighborhood. I've been here multiple times since they opened recently and enjoyed the coffee each time. However one thing they can improve on is definitely the wait time. Even just an iced coffee or black coffee can take some time, especially at rush hour. Why can't people just do what they say they will & actually care? We had wanted to go since we saw it in passing recently ... ordered a dish - was told it would be a while, like 20-25 mins ... ok-should be fresh then - we'll walk a little & come back. When we came back over 30 mins later it wasn't ready. We waited a bit longer but after over 40 mins I finally asked what was going on ... to be told that our order was given to someone else & we had to wait longer. Come on. Nope. They were apologetic & seemed genuine, but this ruined our evening cos it wasted so much time & we were still empty-handed. We live less than 5 mins walk away & I had hoped this would become a regular spot for us - why is everything & everyone so disappointing?
