Expectations aren't sky-high when it comes to meals from a mall food court but unfortunately Charley's failed to clear even the low mental bar that I had set for it. The cheesesteak itself was average but small, and the cheese fries were terrible and should be avoided at all costs. The quality of the cheesesteak itself was serviceable, probably exactly what you would expect in this setting. At first I was pleasantly surprised at the price point as it was around $8 for a six-inch sub which is right around what you would expect from a place like Subway these days. Once it arrived though it became abundantly clear how they keep the price down as this thing was about as wide as a #2 pencil. It was the skinniest hoagie roll I've ever seen, so the total volume of this cheesesteak was probably half what you might get at another chain. The real nail in the coffin for me came with the cheese fries which were legitimately awful. A simple comparison between the picture on the menu and the picture of what I actually received tells part of the story, but it doesn't capture how low-quality the cheese sauce they use is. Imagine the cheap plastic container of cheese-like substance that would be handed to you to drizzle over your stale nacho chips at a little league concession stand and even that would probably be preferable to what they slop on top of these mediocre french fries. I decided to come here since it had been a while since my last Philly cheesesteak sandwich and being that this particular business stood out beyond all the neighboring noodles being offered. I placed the order for the Philly cheesesteak combo which came out pretty quickly. At first glance, the sandwich looked like an absolutely unappetizing mess but the ingredients were plentiful and the cheese was all melty. Sandwich was merely okay. Nothing great but not inedible. Soggy-ish bread didn't really help but the meat wasn't dry. Best item from the purchase was definitely the fries- fluffy on the inside with a nice golden tan. 3 stars overall. I was being indecisive in the mall so I decided to order from here. They had a kiosk so I didn't have to interact with anyone to order. I feel like the size of the sandwich ordered was pretty good for the price and was more or less the average for food courts, though it would be out of my budget if I were not being a tourist at the time. I think it was too busy and came out slow, as by the time I received the food the other member of my party had finished eating. Ordering food at the counter was a very smooth process and I had to sit down for a few minutes to wait for my order to be called out. The ultimate fries looked gorgeous on the advertisement board. I dug into my fries right away because cheesy fries are life and I had missed them so. The first few bites were good, but as I ate more, I realized the ranch dressing and bacon bits were so strong and overwhelming in flavor that I couldn't taste the cheese sauce. I fished around for a few fries that only had cheese sauce and were unaffected by the ranch and bacon bits, but I could still barely taste it. As for the actual fries themselves, they're just okay, thick-cut and neither soggy nor crisp. They don't have any flavor by themselves, though. So, it wasn't bad, but there were too many flavors trying to happen at once. I had a craving for a Philly Cheese Steak sandwich. Came to Charleys and placed my order. I ordered a regular Philly Cheese Steak with no lettuce, no tomatoes, extra green bell peppers and extra mushrooms. Once I got home, I open the container and found lettuce and tomatoes in the sandwich. I look at the receipt and it had no tomatoes and no pickles printed . And don't get me started on how the amount of "extra steak" placed on this sandwich is a far cry from what you'd see in the product photos. - The steak is among the blandest of steak meat I've experienced in any Philly cheesesteak, period. Where's the flavor? The salt? I could not derive a sense of satisfaction from eating this sandwich. The cheese tried to mask that outrageousness to no avail. I'm not going to forget this one (and that's not a good thing). - The old school fries were just marginally better than the cheesesteak. The salt from the potatoes, as well as the ranch I got, helped a bit here. Ultimately though I still felt like I had to force myself to get through this one. It is not better than regular fries I could get at most fast-food restaurants. Some props to the server who was friendly and made sure to give ranch after I checked and saw it wasn't there (why wasn't it earlier, when I paid extra for it). Horrible. I spent $22 for a large Philly, fries and blueberry lemonade. The meat literally taste like it was frozen and defrosted but became dried out from sitting in its frozen water for too long! After 15min of eating my kids went back one-by-one to get their refills just to find out how rude the worker, Kelvin, was, who gave my kids a hard time & not want to give them their 2nd(&last) refill drinks. I went over to see why, Kevin was telling them to go next door for refill & to stop coming to him. I told Kevin we bought our meals & drinks here, why would we go elsewhere for our refills.
