It's funny this truck is called Eat on Monday bc I only ever eat this on a Thursday hahahah. We have a rotating schedule of trucks that come to my office every Thursday so I've had the opportunity to try this particular truck quite a few times. The UFC is consistently my favorite choice there. I've tried their other food but every time I order something else, I tell myself it just doesn't live up to the UFC. Their fried chicken sandwich is perfectly crispy, decently sized (I always food coma afterwards), is quick to arrive after ordering, and comes with a bag of Hawaiian kettle chips. Love when this truck comes to the office because I know the food is always good and I never have to wait long. read more

3/20/2021 pick up If EOM wasn't already serving my lunch needs, they decided to amp up and start taking care of dinners are certain days too! Eat On Monday started doing pop up dinner options. This past wknd, we saw that they were doing Garlic Shrimp Hawaiian style and a Curry Tonkatsu plate as well as offering up roscoes ice cream tacos. We got 4 Garlic Shrimp orders and 1 Curry Tonkatsu and 4 ice cream tacos to try. The Curry Tonkatsu was bomb. The Japanese influence Curry was good with the rice and a perfect pairing to the crispy tonkatsu cutlet. I wished I had ordered more servings of this over the Garlic shrimp. The Garlic Shrimp was good but a tad too dry. We needed a garlic sauce to compliment the garlic rice. There was a bit too much raw chopped garlic mixed vs sautéed chopped garlic. Hopefully they make the adjustment. Kids loved the roscoes ice cream tacos for $5 each. We wanted more of the Youngsters (cookies and cream) but it only allowed us to order 1 as it was probably the last one in stock. If you aren't sure what to have for dinner, this was an option for Fri/Sat for us. I think they offer it up via doordash etc as well. Eat on Monday has always been my favorite food truck and it had been awhile since I had been there. My friend is a big fan as well and had them come to her workplace for her birthday. Luckily it was near where I work and I could come down for lunch. I had the blue cheese burger with arugula and maple bacon and a side of fries. The burger was so tasty. The combination of all of the ingredients with the meat is so good. Juicy burger, yummy toppings. Fries are tasty too. Definitely a nice treat. My sis in law told me about it, my Yelp friend wrote prolific reviews about it. I was extremely happy and satisfied with my experience. I ordered two spicy UFC chicken sandwiches, two lettuce wrapped UFCs and a tonkatsu sandwich just to try and two orders of fries. It wasn't cheap. 5 sandwiches and two fries for $82 is something to consider for a lunch truck now pop up restaurant in an industrial strip that was not delivered. I picked it up. That is the only thing I wanted to inform about- it adds up quickly so just make sure you are ok spending a little more. I don't mind when it comes to food especially food that credible sources vouch for. The chicken was crunchy and seasoned with every bite and it was hearty size wise. The spicy chicken left such a good heat and it wasn't overpowering -spices were spot on. Fries had really good seasoning but they were sorta cold and needed to go into the toaster oven- I live 4.5 mi away from the place and this is NOT a complaint- that is just the reality of potatoes and how they behave after being fried and put into a box to steam up for 15 min. The chicken and tonkatsu sandwiches, however, completely retained the crunch and texture. The bread for the tonkatsu was so darn cute-sliced open like a pocket and edges cut off- the pickled veggies they top it with was fresh and had refreshing flavor and texture between the bread and crispy tonaktsu layer. My lettuce wrapped UFC impressed me not just with flavor and portion. It held together after every single bite- other lettuce wrapped burgers are a hot mess with hands completely drenched in sauce and i have to reassemble the mayo mustard catsupy mess and eventually eat it with a fork and knife- thank u for choosing lettuce leaves that actually help hold it together so it can be eaten as a handheld sandwich. I wanted to try their beef burger but it won't be avail for another week or two. One last comment which just sealed the deal was how polite and nice Carol is. She was extremely responsive when I thought the payment glitched out and she texted me back asap and helped sort it out. She was very sweet and even offered to text me to let me know when the burger is avail lol- very kind and sweet when I picked up the food. I bought four desserts, too- but I think they're from a diff company but yah, they're bomb. Don't let the name of the truck fool you. It's derived from the Eat On Mondays pop up that happens at Cafe Yulong in Mtn View on the day it's closed. In addition to the Monday pop up, EOM has gone mobile and the truck is active within the last week. They've hit Yahoo and Conceptus recently but hopefully they expand into more locales. Since the moment I stepped foot on this campus, the good word has been: the UFC sandwich, from Eat on Monday, is the best item of food we get delivered. And I mean: that endorsement was ubiquitous. To my retrospective shame: I chose not to heed this advice for almost 3-full years. In general, I'm not a big lunch truck guy. Mostly because, I believe that half the enjoyment of lunch is getting the hell out of the office and leaving campus for an hour or so. As such, I rarely choose to patronize a food truck and typically head to an actual restaurant. But yesterday, an absolute angel (replete with blonde hair and green eyes) walked through our cubicle pods and asked all the cool kids: "Do you want me to pre-order you a UFC sandwich?" Faced with the convenience of a pre-order, coupled with the fact that my usual lunch buddy is on one of his healthy, crash diet fads... and I decided, what the hell. Let's give this allegedly legendary poultry its' day in the sun. My first surprise came in the visual department. Plagued by imagery harvested from a market cornered by Chick-Fil-A, Popeyes, and Wendy's, I simply assumed that the sando would arrive in burger form. Circular patty, sesame seeds, the usual get-up. I was wrong. The UFC sammich rides proudly on a two-handed hoagie roll, roughly 7 inches long. Visible chicken, bacon, and lettuce can be seen poking its' head out from the brown butcher paper it comes wrapped in. The filling peers outward at it's eater, with a glance of unconditional love, like an infant looking up at its' mother. I leaned in and took my first bite, an admitted UFC virgin, so naturally, about 3 co-workers were locked on me, waiting to hear the verdict. My teeth sank into the soft, juicy (what I assume to be, brined) breast fillet. Nobody told me that this sandwich came with a perfectly crispy, thick-cut slice of high quality bacon. The house sauce (sriracha mayo, with what tasted to me like a hint of pickled red pepper) played it's part masterfully. The produce was cool and crisp, the poultry was hot and fresh, the roll was an artisan masterpiece of lightly developed yeast with hydrated stone cut flour. Every single piece of this sandwich joined into a melodic, harmonious chorus. With every chew, I could hear a choir of angels above me singing, "Glory, glory, hallelujah!" "This is the best chicken sandwich I've ever had," I instinctively said, in a tone and cadence that can best be described as a lover's moan. As I scanned the room, the world was finally alive for the very first time. Wondrous new colors sprang from the walls and cartwheeled around the room. Rabbits and deer emerged from all corners, as flora and foliage inexplicably grew in rapid fashion all around me. The room began to shake, my office ceiling tore open, and a translucent beam of harvest gold streamed from the deepest pocket of the sky directly down upon the flawlessly executed chicken sando that sat before me. Food trucks are yay or nay for me. Most of the time they are simply too far away for me and with other constraints at play, usually grab something closer to home. Second, the majority of the burger trucks I've sampled are cooked way too well for me since mine have to be medium rare. I blame the thin patties as well as other possible factors because it is a truck and not a full kitchen. Boy was I wrong. I had one of the juiciest burgers in a long time and it came from Eat On Monday. What a surprise. The menu is simple: burgers (with the exception of the Fried Chicken Club (UFC), Pulled Pork Sandwich, and Veggie Burger) and fries. There are no distractions, no fluff, nothing. Burgers presented were: -Bacon Blue Cheese Burger -Classic Cheese Burger -Chipotle Cheeseburger I ordered the Chipotle Cheeseburger : local grass fed beef, cheddar cheese, spicy chipotle sauce, caramelized onions, lettuce, tomato, and an Acme bun. SF/Berkeley love their Acme bread so the minute I saw that, I knew what I was in for: amazingness. After waiting only about 5 minutes, my burger was done. When I opened the container, was wowed by the sight. It was the perfect burger. Juicy looking, melted cheese swirling with the chipotle sauce and the caramelized onions + gravity coaxed it over the side of the patty. It was also done perfectly medium rare. The fusion of all the ingredients created a pretty damn good burger and I'm also happy to report that my fingers were all messy, so make sure you grab a few napkins. A burger that doesn't leave a mess is not my kind of burger. We also ordered the plain french fries with sea salt and the spiced fries. Try them both. You will not be disappointed. Wouldn't you know it, I forgot to bring a lunch to work. Luckily, Eat on Monday was there to solve all of my problems without having to walk a mile to the nearest decent eatery. My boss and I cruised across the lot to check it out. I ordered the "UFC" Club, which was basically a $9 spicy chicken club sandwich. Despite the high prices, I was actually pretty happy with the size and flavors of the sandwich. I'd say that the only thing it really needed was more fat. A little more mayo or a slice of cheese would have really brought it all together for me. For an extra $2, the fries were kinda wimpy so I skipped on those this visit. Service was reasonably quick considering that the line was crazy long. Luckily, they even accept credit cards so if you're low on cash, you're all taken care of. It's a food truck...outside...so your dog is welcome to join you if you happen to have them at work. Overall, not bad though I'd skip the wimpy fries next time. It's tough finding something here to nitpick. Really good food. I've tried both the regular and the spicy UFC Club. The heat level for the spicy sandwich is pretty well calibrated. It's like a good medium kick. You can feel it, but it's not too much. Everything on my sandwiches has been on point. The bread is nice. The veggies are fresh. The bacon and spread are tasty. The chicken has been REALLY REALLY good. The breading on the chicken is balanced and just right. Not too crunchy/too much, not too little. All white meat. Juicy. Not dry and not greasy. The sandwich is overall a good size and it hits the spot. I was a little skeptical initially, but it's...worth the price. It also did crossfit and was training for the Disney Marathon. Ok, you get the idea. But, if not, it's buttermilk fried chicken with maple glazed, bacon, lettuce, tomato, and house spread all on an ACME roll. It may not sound like much, but when you bite into it, you will know exactly what I'm talking about. The chicken is crunchy, the bacon is sweet and pairs well with the savoriness of the chicken and house spread. The lettuce and tomato give it a freshness and crunch. Also, the bread can't be overlooked as it is soft and makes your sandwich easy to eat. Like I said, I have had their burgers and other sandwiches before and they are all delicious! Fried Chicken Sandwiches have traditionally been overhyped in my opinion. Bacon Bacon's was flavorless and even the strips of bacon couldn't save it . The extremely overrated Bakesale Betty's was dry on the inside, soggy on the outside and tasted like pricy cardboard; the only thing i liked in that sandwich was the somewhat spicy and vinegary slaw. So when my friend declared Eat On Monday's Ultimate Fried Chicken (UFC) the best fried chicken sandwich he'd EVER had, i was extremely skeptical. It didn't help that I'm not a white meat fan; it's never as juicy or flavorful or silky as dark meat. But i was game. Game to dispute his claim. Boy, was i wrong. After a 30 min wait (even with 5 people working in the truck, the lines just don't move that quickly...), we finally got our order (2 UFCs and 4 tacos between the 2 of us. Don't judge). - UFC: Perfectly fried chicken with strips of bacon sandwiched between crusty buns. The chicken was delicious, and the portion was huge, spilling out of the buns. I layered on a generous portion of sriracha which took the sandwich to quite another level. it's been a week and i'm still dreaming of this sandwich - Tacos: I'm not a fan of corn tortillas; they're always dry and take away from the taco itself unless it's fresh off the flat top. Great food here but super frustrating when they don't regularly update the people standing in lines about the amount of food. Double irritating when they hire someone whose rude! The gal just walked out and took the sign away and told the line that "we're out of food." That was about two weeks ago. I stood in line for a good 35 minutes. Starving. Pork belly sandwiches - You can't go wrong with pork belly. Slightly on the heavier/greasier side compared to Chairman Bao. The texture reminded me more of the crispy carnitas I used to get down in SD compared to a braised silky pork belly slice a la Ippudo NY. The bread was perfectly chewy which equated to a happy carboholic. Fried mozzarella - It was almost like a fancied twist on the classic caprese salad. Breading was slightly on the heavier side, but the tomatoes and cheese paired well. Would love to see some shredded basil or a stronger basil flavor to it! Finally tried Eat on Monday today, and I have to say, I'll eat it any day, if this food truck ever comes near me! One word comes to mind, to describe the tacos here: L.E.G.I.T! The tacos are so amazing. $3 each or 3 for $8 (pretty average) these little Mexican style tacos have an Asian flair to them. It looks like a normal taco, and I wasn't expecting much...but once I took that first bite, I WAS HOOKED! The pork belly one was really delicious as well as the short rib!! Both were juicy, tender and full of flavor. You can tell they cooked the meat for a long time, and I really don't there there is a shortcut to cooking good meat. This is what makes the truck. Pleasantly surprised the second time I tried Eat on Monday. The first time was a while back and it was so unremarkable that I didn't want to review their truck unfairly. I'm glad I gave them a second chance because I really enjoyed their cheeseburger and UFC club sandwich. The order board indicates that their sandwiches a sliders but I still felt a twinge of disappointment when I saw the size. However, one bite and the disappointment was forgotten and easily replaced with bliss. My club was so tasty and hearty that it actually filled me up. That was a pleasant surprise. You can see that they take great care when preparing their offerings. As for value, I felt that I got my money's worth, but I know that this isn't a sentiment echoed by my friends. Okay, their roasted pork sandwich... best. thing. in. the. universe. Evidence: I take one bite just to taste before putting it in my car to go back to work. I end up wolfing the entire thing down in less than five minutes. The pork honestly just melts in your mouth and the kale is cooked perfectly. I don't know what spread they use but it goes really well. The UFC sandwich is also HEAVEN, the chicken is cooked so well that it too, just melts in your mouth. The fries are also delicious and compliment the sandwiches brilliantly. It is honestly because of these dishes that this food truck gets five stars, HANDS DOWN. The cons (were it not for the superb items listed in the prior paragraph, they might have resulted in a star deduction so I still need to list them): The burgers are good but not superb... for a menu that consists of a lot of burger options, I expected slightly more out-of -this-world taste. The taco menu likewise is good but not out-of-this world, which I expected not just from a single-item menu perspective but from a price perspective as well (each taco is street-size and is $3-$4). The only taco that was really worth it was the calamari one and... it's pretty hard to mess up calamari. I'm also not crazy about the seasoned fries, but that's just a matter of preference. Finally, (not really a con, more of a warning), this truck is not the place for you if you are watching your weight unless they are serving up their taco menu or pork sandwich. Most of their food is slightly oily (but actually, I don't know why the workers are in great shape). Even their signature UFC sandwich is pretty unhealthy and should be reserved for that special occasion or cheat day. I guess some people don't mind that but given that we are in California, I'm betting that a lot of people do care and so they'd prefer a more healthy menu. But still, their roast pork sandwich... My recent stalking of, Eat on Monday brought me to a full Taco Menu, WTF, after my disappointment which wore off quickly, I was really craving that UFC sandwich, I decided to try all three taco's. Braised Pork Taco, Fried Calamari Taco, and Beef Short Rib Taco. All great taco's however my favorite, hands down has to go the Fried Calamari Taco! Salt and Pepper Calamari, cabbage, a crema sauce, and jalapeno, yummo! Don't get me wrong, the other taco's were good too, but that Fried Calamari Taco just stood out for me. DON'T JUDGE A TRUCK BY ITS OUTSIDE DESIGN!! (4.5 stars) In my books, the best taco at SJ Taco Festival 2013 came from this boring looking plain truck serving "FRIED CALIMARI TACOS". Taste, filling and presentation all scored a 10!!!! - FOOD, delicious - PRICES, affordable - SERVICE, quick - AMBIANCE, truck I never heard of this truck. Never seen this truck. Didn't care for this truck until I saw a semi-decent line and on their menu was "Fried Calimari Tacos". I don't even remember the other tacos listed, I just had to try this. I've already walked around the entire event and ate many tacos and only had room for one last truck stop and THIS WAS THE FINAL DESTINATION!!!! FRIED CALIMARI TACOS (2 for $4 or $5) - Not sure what to expect. My thoughts ran through my head "overly breaded calimari, greasy, etc. etc." but when they called my number "#69, fried calimari tacos...#69" that was ME!! I saw a very pretty and clean looking tacos waiting for me and ready to be devoured. The calimari was in a very light batter - like light as tempura batter, it was filled nicely in depth (packed with fillings) and in presentation (not sloppy looking), i plucked the tiny bits of jalapeno off, squirt a litle bit of lime, and chopped away. Best things to get at this truck (ranked in terms taste): 1. Ultimate fried chicken (UFC) sandwich. 2. Fries + Aioli sauce 3. Pulled pork sandwich 4. Tonkatsu sandwich Tried out their tonkatsu sandwich today. I was lucky and got the last one (they ran out of tonkatsu sauce fast). It was interesting because they used white bread for the sandwich. The tacos are a little on the smaller side compared to Mogo's or BBQ Kalbi, but the meat is truly amazing. I got a short rib, shrimp and pork belly taco and I especially loved the short rib and pork belly. Both meats were juicy and tender and the sauce on the pork belly taco was good. The shrimp was quite rich as it included an avocado slice and a creamy orange sauce. The tacos reminded me more of authentic Mexican tacos than the other Asian trucks with sprinklings of fresh onion, cilantro and jalapeno on top of the meats and the corn tortillas they used. I like how they have a rotating menu because I'd love to try different things besides tacos in the future. As far as food trucks go, this is definitely a contender for the top spot along with BBQ Kalbi. read more

Eat on Monday is a decent food truck. My only complaint is that everything comes with meat. The calamari tacos were tasty and the pork belly is always a family favorite. But most food trucks are catering to the taste buds of herbivores and carnivores alike. EOM fails to do so thus I give them 4 stars. read more

OMG, this was one of my first forays into food truck cuisine, and I think I may have been spoiled by this first outing. I emerged from Planet Granite after a 90 minute yoga class, starving and freezing to death. Lo and behold, there's a food truck right outside! Eat on Monday's truck is unobtrusive to the point that I didn't even know the name until I took a closer look. It's not plastered all over the exterior of the truck like a lot of other food trucks (ahem, Food Network's Great Food Truck Race). The menu looked simple enough, but the descriptions intrigued me, even though I was on my way to meet a friend for dinner. That, and the smells wafting out the vents were enough to tempt me into ordering tacos. I got a spicy beef short rib taco and a shrimp taco. At $3 each, the price seemed a bit steep. See the descriptions on my picture. However, a fellow yogi showed me her two short rib tacos and I was sold because it just looked so darn yummy and smelled so darn good. I saw another Eat on Monday patron enjoying his taco, and he advised me to get one of each, even though I was only going to get one. I wasn't disappointed. I tasted the beef short rib taco first because I am a wuss when it comes to spicy food and this touted a spicy sauce. I think it was mainly Siracha based, which went well with the "Chinese style" of the short rib. It was topped with chopped onions, cilantro, and a delicious short rib salsa. Soooooo good. It was a bit messy, but in a good way, with all the juices dripping out. I don't remember as much about the shrimp taco other than the fact that it featured THREE deliciously plump and perfectly cooked shrimp (definitely worth the $3) as well as a chipotle sauce and some chunks of avocado. This was also a bit difficult to eat. A lot of the shredded cabbage fell off, so I resorted to using a fork to capture the missed bits of beef and shrimp. They also had fries, seasoned or not seasoned. They looked pretty tasty. I was also tempted by the tonkatsu sandwich, but was put off a bit by the $8 price tag. Reading the other reviews though, it sounds like Eat on Monday really gives you a good bang for your buck when it comes to the portion size and the quality of the food. I will go for it next time if I'm not planning dinner elsewhere! All in all, I was immensely satisfied with my tacos from Eat on Monday. I will definitely be partaking of their cuisine every time they stop by PG, and may even go out of my way to follow their trips around the South Bay! read more

Eat on Monday had a tent set up at SJ Night Market. The line was super long and everyone was saying that their Taiwanese chicken filet is one of the best. So I ordered a spicy one to try. For $6, the amount of chicken they gave us was worth the price. They were two large pieces of chicken seasoned with chili powder. While it was good, I didn't think that it was much different from popcorn chicken that we see at different milk tea places. The seasoning is all the same. The only difference is that these chicken filets are much larger. It's worth trying but I don't think it's something I'd get again. read more

I was really skeptical on the menu pricing, 2 sliders for $8?? but let me tell you it was well worth it. Picked up a spicy pork and mongolian chicken, both were pretty good, the spicy pork had some good kick (I think they sliced some jalop's in there). They are about 3.75" wide x 2.5" high, the steam bun is actually folded over so its like a taco-mini-burger. Also picked up potstickers for some fellas at the office, 2 for $2, they were just ok, im sure meat was organic + hand made but it just wasnt all that..I would prob skip them next time, and stick to the steambun sliders. One of the better food trucks roaming the south bay in 2011. We've visited for both the May and June menu so far. The short rib and pork belly tacos are excellent -- the duck was decent but not as good as the others. The fried calamari is nicely fried and good in both tacos and sandwich -- pairing it with the arugula and dressing was perfect in the sandwich. The fried radish cake is also nice, but a bit much for one person, this side is best shared. read more

"UFC" Club Sandwich + Seasoned Fries The torpedo roll the sandwich came on was fresh and soft. The Buttermilk fried chicken had great flavor and was not too crispy! Lettuce was bright green and fresh along with the tomato. The sandwich tasted so fresh I felt it was truly homemade! Peerless. Hera, Poseidon, Athena, Apollo, Artemis, Hades, and all of everyone else, look up in jealousy to your new King Zeus, crowned! After I was gifted my Chipotle Burger, I walked across the black tar sea to read my wooden bench, shaded by the grand redwoods, graced by a gentle cool breeze. I felt as if the grass leaned closer, the leaves shifted to get a view, and the birds grew silent not even daring to rustle feathers, and the whole world watched. I opened the box in my haste. (I've been working out like a madman for the last few months, running 5mi every other day, including this morning, and partaking of the gym every other day as well...) my body longed for nourishment, my brain famished of food, ...and without giving time for my fingers to shake uncontrollably, I pulled open the cardboard box, which offered no resistance... Hark, what is this? A shimmering pool of radiance surrounded the bottom bun. Grease? No. A dull red... ah, from the sauce... but light... glistening of pure meat juice. The life of a great cow could not be contained--it slowly oozed and shined. I lifted my eyes and found the burger geometrically perfect. It stood as Hercules did, proud, powerfully, and absolutely perfectly proportioned. The top bun was the cap of a perfect sphere. And all layers were stacked cleanly, distinctly, with individual pride one on top of the other. And there it was in the middle, a perfect cloak of thick orange cheese stretching to cover the broad charred shoulders of the great Hercules. Lettuce and tomato particularly bright green and deep red, more so than I have ever seen from the chefs here. And just enough white and red sauce mingling, fighting from falling down the sides. I held the burger and for a moment I didn't know if I could escape the gaze. I just stared at the amazing beauty. But alas, I was reminded that death awaits if my body is starved further more, and so I clamped down with my teeth... Streams of beef juice, rich sauces, and liquid soul burst forth, some uncaught and ran down my stiff jaw. My mind burst of ecstasy. My body convulsed. For a moment, my consciousness entered another world... Buns toasted so perfectly that the buttery edges crunched, but not burnt. Meat that gushed, but also crunched from a thin shell of charred armor, unable to protect its treasure. Garden treasures so fresh that they must have just been plucked. And the duel ambrosias, in love with one another in a deep embrace. This was the most perfect item I have ever received from any food truck. Bar none. And there will never be better. UFC Club. 'Nuff said. You KNOW a sandwich is good when you order not one, BUT TWO sandwiches in ONE DAY! (I know this makes me sound like a fatty, but I'll have you know that I regretted purchasing that second sandwich AND i didn't finish it.) The UFC Club, for those who don't know, is a fried-chicken breast placed between a french-roll, topped with bacon, lettuce, tomato, and a chipotle-mayo sauce. Did I mention their bacon is maple-glazed? Yes, ladies. MAPLE. GLAZED. BACON. I'd also like to mention that Eat On Monday was the first food truck I tried when I was first introduced to Moveable Feast. This was nearly a year ago, and it wasn't until Friday (09/06/13) that I was able to make it to another Moveable Feast meet where Eat On Monday was attending. Ate here as part of the sparse Grub Town Army food truck gathering today - apparently they ran out of food around the lunch rush and had to go back and reopen at 4:30... SO worth the wait! The kurobata pork belly taco ($3) was a good size with balanced flavors enhanced by charred green onion and a squeeze of lime, and the watermelon juice was the best drink deal by far: about a 16 oz portion, freshly blended, for $2.50.
