He gutted both rooms, installed new flooring, custom cabinets with granite counter tops, new kitchen lighting plus under-cabinet lighting & accent lighting, and rewired outlets. He recommended one of his crew to rebuild a fireplace mantle. Guy has provided several other projects even after we challenged his estimates. Again, he wasn't always the cheapest. He remodeled our master bath by removing the tub, upgrading plumbing, & making a large shower with camouflaged drain. Another project was to replace the tub, install new plumbing, tiling and flooring in our Guest Bath. Aside from other small projects, Guy also continued the flooring from the kitchen, down the halls, and our dining room and den. All work was supervised or completed by Guy's son, Mark. The crews were always punctual, clean, and as quiet as possible. They were also too polite. Guy and Mark are sometimes more critical of their work than they probably should be. All labor and products used are guaranteed or warranted. No repairs or product upgrades have cost me a dime! A couple of notes: If Guy has an improved idea to yours, GO WITH GUY! Also, no contractor is as good as Guy with satisfying a couple who have different ideas and choices!

Carlos came to our house, on a holiday no less, and talked about what we wanted to do and provided a quote later. He was thorough, providing suggestions about how to approach a problem: framing out our decidedly builder-grade windows to tie in with the board-and-batten we wanted. And then there was the huge, floor-to-ceiling built-in-bookshelves project we wanted him to tackle with stain-grade wood. Through the whole process, from concept to completion, Carlos checked with us about what we wanted. He made changes when needed and was respectful about our wishes. Everything he did mattered to him. All his choices were thoughtful: with materials, trimming out the board and batten and windows and building the bookshelves. With the cabinet bottoms for four of the bookcases, he chose something with a nice wood grain and matched the doors up. It looks so good and now we need to respect the wood with a stain that will allow the beauty to come through. The result is something out of my dreams. Solid, classy bookshelves with some cabinets and even a couple cabinets with plexiglass doors. As Carlos said, we could drive a truck on these bookshelves now. No disrespect to the IKEA hackers, but I wanted something solid that would last a lifetime, out of real wood. Carlos custom-made the bookshelves -- no prefab cabinets. He was great with communication, both in person and by text when he was on his way for the day. He was always on time or even early. He has a great sense of humor and found us funny too, which is nice to have when you have someone working in your house for a while. Couldn't have asked for a better experience. River City Carpentry provided good quality service and a great value. Now I'm looking forward to the next step of getting our shelves stained and our board and batten and the rest of the room painted.

With that in mind... we love our cabinets and the doors close softly and all the little dividers and drawers options they have. The cabinets are real wood and built to last. Very happy.

After using our new kitchen every day for more than three months, I can confidently say we are extremely happy with the results. Joe was professional, reliable, and easy to work with throughout the entire project. He communicated clearly, stayed organized, and paid close attention to every detail. The remodel process was smooth from start to finish, and the final outcome exceeded our expectations. What really impressed us is how well everything has held up over time. After months of daily use, the cabinets, countertops, finishes, and overall craftsmanship still look fantastic. Nothing feels rushed or cheaply done -- the quality and durability truly stand out. You can tell Joe takes pride in doing the job right the first time. Our kitchen is now more functional, beautiful, and comfortable than we imagined. It's rare to find a contractor who delivers both excellent service and lasting quality, but Joe absolutely did. I would highly recommend him to anyone looking for a trustworthy and highly skilled kitchen remodel contractor.

The short version is he is extremely reliable with excellent communication and workmanship. Lock in for the long version. We have lived in our home for 12 years and were looking for a reliable contractor to remodel our entire home. We plan to be in this home for a long time and really needed someone who would show the care and attention to our home. We interviewed several contractors and Joe with CB Homes matched our communication style and genuine care for the work performed. We planned to move out of our home due to the large scope of the project and needed someone we could trust and rely on without us being inside the house. Joe proved to be reliable and trustworthy. He showed up when he said he would and if he needed to adjust scheduling he communicated clearly and worked with us. He was excellent at managing the many different elements and phases of the project to keep us involved in the key decision making while keeping the project on schedule. Many people told us no way the project would be complete by our 3 month target but we were able to move back home exactly when we planned to. The quality of the work was exceptional and Joe provided us suggestions and recommendations while respecting our unique sense of style. I.E. I love my kitchen and I've also approached him about a future project. I had a basic 1970's era condo kitchen-outdated but can't really change the footprint. I tried to revive it with refacing. It still didn't function well, but I worked around it. A leak in the wall behind the cabinets, forced an unexpected remodel. I received estimates from several contractors using stock or RTA "IKEA" kitchen cabinets. The cabinets I saw in these stores did not seem as sturdy as my existing cabinets. I couldn't customize and would have similar unusable spaces where the pre-made cabinets are put together. The contractors and pre-made cabinet stores told me custom cabinets would cost twice as much as their estimates. While looking for design ideas, I saw multiple Houzz and Reddit posts stating a local carpenter could give me custom cabinets at a much better price. I am so glad I paid attention to the posts! That's how I found Sacramento Millworks. His price for my project was comparable to the quotes I received for stock cabinets. Raymond is a carpenter and a designer. Because of his experience, he handled everything. He walked me through everything, including a trip to the granite and tile shops. I just picked colors. He was very patient. Most of contractors I've worked with recently send employees to do the work. They just pop in here and there until it's time for payment. Raymond was on site working with one helper everyday.
